Pros: Patricia and Gilles, are lovely and very helpful, there property is stunning , rooms beautiful, and facilities are excellent, the property is set up that the owners are there if you need them but you have your own autonomy and areas., its very special. The things I have listed as what I didn't like are just personal preferances
Cons: There were no baguettes and croissants at breakfast, there were no mosquito screens on windows , so couldn't sleep with windows open.

Le Bignon - Jarzé-Villages - Bedroom
2
9.7 Excellent (47 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our booking was made at very short notice but the proprietors, Wendy and Peter, were very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Wendy kindly sat us down with a pot of tea while making finishing preparations to our room. We had the 'red room', which was very clean, airy, comfortable, and full of character and nice touches. The en-suite was roomy with a good walk-in shower. The in-room tea making facilities included bone china cups, which always make tea taste better! Le Binyon has a nice rural setting about a mile from the village of Jarzé and just a few miles from the small town of Bauge, where Wendy made us a dinner reservation at an excellent restaurant. Our stay was made complete by an beautiful breakfast and we really couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is a beautiful 18c. house. Wendy and Peter are the perfect hosts and made us very welcome indeed. Peter is an excellent chef and went out of his way to cater for our vegan daughters.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful hosts
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great Breakfasts, beautifully presented
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We found Le Bignon to be well situated for an overnight stay on our way back to the ferry at St Malo but next time we would like to stay longer. Our room was extremely pleasant and comfortable. Peter and Wendy were perfect hosts who were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Breakfast was excellent. We would recommend a stay at Le Bignon.
Cons: We could not think of any way to improve our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners went out of their way to ensure that our special breakfast needs were catered for. We were welcomed with a much appreciated "cup of tea".
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the welcome from the owners was amazing, the fact that we did have a dog and they made her welcome and she slept in the car.
Cons: May be some more fruit at breakfast time and may be an offer of an egg or something simple. The owners did ask us in the evening but sometimes you don't know until you get up, especially, and as our alarm had gone off at 5.30 am, we were hungrier than normal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tea and biscuits on arrival, swim in the pool, and when we asked Wendy where to get supper she suggested that Peter (who was out shopping) could buy us what we needed and they'd set up a table by the pool. Peter returned with baguette, pate, cheese, salad and so we had a delicious meal in the evening sunshine. Perfect.
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were lovely as was the welcome and the dinner.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by Wendy and Peter and had beautifully furnished, comfortable rooms in a tranquil setting. Peter prepared a delicious vegan meal for us and the fact the car trouble had delayed our arrival was not an issue. Breakfast looked beautiful and tasted great and our various dietary preferences were catered for without a fuss. We would highly recommend and loved seeing and hearing the owls.

Pros: They are really friendly, the place is lovely and clean. The garden is huge and nice to walk on, the breakfast was really nice with home made food!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing place to stay. It is very quite, calm, you can leave your room open and you know none will take you anything - because there is no one. Huge garden, lot of place to sit down and relax, enjoy nice time. Our room was separeted, door directly to the garden. Nice huge bathroom (part of the room itself, you dont have to go anywhere), huge shower. Amazing breakfast - homenade apple juice, jams, breads, jogurts... if you want, you can have an egg from their own "farm". The lady is super nice, and her husband is very friendly. What says it all - we decided to stay one more night just for enjoy the place.

Pros: Absolutely everything was fantastic - friendly hosts, beautiful location and building, lovely pets and delicious homemade breakfast. Amazing amazing stay!

Pros: Hosts were fabulous and really helpful. Room was.nicely presented and clean.
7.5 Good
Pros: The food
Cons: Single beds were a bit small and the bathroom was dingy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were so welcoming. Access was very easy and we were able to park just outside our room. The garden was totally enclosed and so our two dogs were safe to have exercise.. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and looks even better than the photos. Having a kettle is a lovely extra. We met the sheep, goats, dog, cats and chickens. Its a lovely place. At night it was dark (you could see lots of stars) and quiet as its on a side road. We ate at the Auberge de Beaufort just 5/6 minutes drive away-very good restaurant. We would certainly return.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Cosy and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, but too much sugar for us (jam, cakes, ...).
Cons: We had better eat salted meals (ham, eggs...).

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice renovated old chateau
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We visited 6 hotels/B&B in France during our vacation and this one was the best! It's really a castle! Alive history! Very big rooms, king-size beds, very high ceilings, castle-windows, special princess-table for make-up, big garden... Beautiful views inside and outside. Breakfast was perfect! With alive flowers on tables, fresh croissants and a rich choice of different yogurts, cheese, ham, fruits and others. My friend told just as a joke that there was not his favorite cheese for breakfast, and already on the next day this cheese was on our table! Personal is very kind and friendly. We liked this castle so much that decided to change our plans and keep there for one night more. The price for one night was unbelievable cheap for such kind of hotel! By the way... It's a charity-hotel. They work for children and they spend most part of profit for children. Staying in this hotel it's not only a big joy, but also a good deal. If I could I would give to this hotel 6 stars from 5.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: considering old building the quality inside was excellent. Very modern and clean. Plenty of towels and breakfast was very good
Cons: Reception not manned all the time. Being handed a remote control for the TV which was kept in a locked cupboard and having to remember to return it upon vacating the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was incredible for the price I paid and we had a lovely dinner (made by ourselves with the facilities provided) sipping on wine looking out from the 2nd floor gallery looking out over the Vista. Really nice that the funds raised by the hotel supports looking after people with special needs. Lovely lass in reception whose English was very good pointed us in the direction of the corkscrew!
Cons: There was a film crew at breakfast with a rather annoying young American telling the world that there was a secret passageway in the breakfast room. It was neither particularly secret nor a passageway...it was a toilet! It did provide us with some entertainment though!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation in a real château, nice location in nature, very quiet and peaceful, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great price / quality
Cons: No fridge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcome. The staff were really great at fulfilling my request for an accessible room, due to an injury. The breakfast is wonderful. The welcome is warm, and then you are left with privacy to explore the lovely surroundings. We love this place.
Cons: One thing-please if you provided a squeedgee ( dont know the French word- but a thing like a window cleaner on a long stick, with a rubber blade on one end), then the bathroom would be easier to use, as the shower tray is too shallow, and the shower is fixed so that it cant be turned downwards, therefore the bathroom floor floods once the shower has been used. This could be made easier for guests by providing this tool (described above) so that water could be directed easily away from the door and back into the shower tray. Also-thanks for allowing us to take breakfast at 9.30 instead of 9am. We would find it better if the breakfast was a bit later, and checkout a little later too. If breakfast was until 10, and checkout possible for 11 we would be much less hurried. I wonder if this could be by request? It would make a huge difference. Don't let these things put you off staying-these are tiny details, and the place is just lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Remarkable property restored to life as a hostelry. Very comfortable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and clean rooms.
Cons: No airconditioning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, beautiful walks all around, wonderful size rooms and a lovely setting
Cons: All great. The shower ran out onto the floor- there are issues with water leaks, and shallow sinks/shower tray, but really, the place is wonderful

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sheena and Joel went out of their way to help me.. rent a car, visit castles, hiking, meals and more.. Loved their company, friendly, fun and very hospitable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rive Gauche was a great find . It met all our needs and our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. Breakfasts were a real treat with Sheena's homemade cake and jams. Joel was so helpful , fixing up bikes for us and giving us map of cycling routes. Bedrooms large and spacious and the use of a kitchen was a real bonus. Good wifi too! We hope to return to Loire in 2018 and will definitely book up at Rive Gauche.
Cons: The accommodation is fairly isolated so you have to be prepared to drive to restaurants etc: Both restaurants that were recommended were excellent so the drive was worth the effort.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Catherine and Jean-Claude gave us warmest welcome and most friendly service. The chateau is very historical and truly beautiful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An exceptional place with outstanding hospitality and friendliness. The owners in essence share a part of their castle with visitors. Rooms in reality are even more beautiful than can be seen from photos online.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Kat was our hostess, and could not have made us feel more welcome. we stayed up in the turret which we reached by climbing 2 floors of winding, tuffeau stone stairs. The property is remote, which we love and we received a full tour of the chateau and access to the beautiful, secluded pool for a morning swim. The breakfast was exquisite, and Kat, though clearly a people lover, was werlcoming, but after presenting breakfast, discreetly pulled the dining room door shut to let us enjoy a wonderful private table setting. Would return again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome Chateau right in the Loire Valley. Absolutely beautiful building (interior and exterior) and Catherine was a wonderful host. She welcomed us with a cocktail and invited us to drink Champagne before dinner. She told all the good places to go in the area. The pool is also really nice: heated and with a great area to barbecue and hang out with your family. The grounds are also absolutely beautiful with the original moat now a flowing stream. The breakfast was also incredible. Every day a new pastry and always too many good things to eat!
