Extremely peaceful place, friendly host
The rooms are first class, the hoists are very helpful and friendly. A very pleasant stay, lovely quite surroudings. nothing all was fab.
The great experience of a quiet surrounding, perfect location, very tasteful and comfortable accomodation and above all a nice and very hospitable couple who ownes this beautiful place.
This is an ideal location to explore the Lower Normandy by car. The premises are service buildings adjacent to the traditional French manor house, in the countryside. The place is very quiet. At the same time, the city of Falaise is just 2 minutes by car. The owners are friendly. The room was the biggest dissapointment. No, the room as such was nice, but Luxury Suite for 4 persons came out to be a spacious double room with one extra portable bed and only hypothetical possibility to add the fourth person (we were lucky - we were actually three). Also, the hotel is very new and the owners, may be, are unexperienced, so some minor things are not taken care about.
The village was very charming and the hotel was centrally positioned The family room my children was staying in smelled of smoke and was in a bit of a need of refurbishment
The food was particularly good. We hope to eat there again. Free wifi was useful too.
Good food Hotel did not open until 5pm and charged me for breakfast when on the confirmation it should have been included, didnt see the mistake until further into my travel
Very friendly and helpful staff Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice, but that is just me being picky!
LOcation in Suisse Normand region Car park limited
The hotel is well run, the food and wine list, good value for money We found the bed too hard
None Automated check in procedure failed. Telephone contact to remote location necessary to obtain entry details. Restaurant closed on arrival at 2000hours. No breakfast facilities at any time.
Easy to find No facilities for getting a drink , bar never open , restaurant never open , no vending machine , no tea or coffee facilities in the room !
Very good food. The staff were very attentive and the parking was good.
Staff extremeley helpful, made welcome and sorted ou the extra bed we required Family rooms do not anticipate 3 children - the family suite was very hard to fit the roll-awa bed into
No food, no staff after 6pm, wrong codes on booking forms for door entry, very very frustrating after 7hr drive.
The room was uncomfortable, basic and quite shabbily furnished. There were no facilities either in the room or at the hotel so we were unable to get anything to eat or drink from our arrival until the following breakfast. There was no staff on duty after 5.00pm so the hotel was noisy with people wandering the corridors banging doors etc until early hours of the morning. The breakfast provided was of a poor standard and overpriced at 7 euros
quiet at night,no noise, good location for touring local area. arrived saturday night, bar was closed at 7p.m when we arrived, didn't open sunday night,no breakfat sunday morning.
Clean bedding, friendly staff
The hotel was superbly placed for the ferry at Ouistreham and easy to reach off the motorway. The food was excellent and everything very clean. The village, historically , was very interesting and well signposted with information. All in all the ideal spot for us. We aim to use it regularly on our frequent trips. Nothing serious but I would like to have found someone in reception on my arrival. However, I know it is a small hotel and the staff work very hard. When the staff were around, they were extremely kind and helpful.
Spoke english, clean, tidy, welcoming We asked for a bed for a 4 year old and got a cot... so I slept on the floor.
Charming hotel with perfect service. Excellent value for money. Very good dinner. Nothing
Ecouche is a lovely rural little town with an interesting history. The food in the hotel should be Michelin starred because it is exquisite. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Excellent food - outside on th terrace, very quiet, a really nice room with both bath and shower.
The staff was very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. We were not told the hotel was being remodeled. The entire first floor was gutted. There was a very strong odor of paint in our room. It was making my companion sick so we had to leave. A major pain, and delayed our business appointments.
We booked the double room special offer for 1 night. The initial room offered was rather small however the receptionist offered us a larger room which was fine. the staff were friendly and the room was clean.
The room was spacious and very comfortable and the staff extremely friendly.
The Lion D'Or is clearly a work in progress with the major renovations currently taking place, which were noted on the website. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is very attractively set out and demonstrates the aspirations of the young couple. The menus were creative and the food beautifully presented. Our room had an obvious musty damp smell and the table lamps really need to be adjacent to the bed.
Restaurant was good, the quality of the room was good. Could not check in until 6:00pm on the Saturday even though on the booking form it said from midday. Had to wait until someone arrived to check out by 8:30.
We picked this hotel because it could accomodate an extra bed for our daughter in the room. In actual fact we got a separate adjoining room which contained a sofa bed and sink, which was reasonable value for €75 although the furniture was a bit old and grubby. Our room also had a balcony overlooking the garden (the others don't), which had a swing that our 4-year old daughter enjoyed playing on. The hotel is very dated & needs a good clean and re-decorate. I read in the description it had recently been renovated - maybe the public areas have but the rooms themselves are shabby. The location is also pretty bad - right on a busy main road in the middle of nowhere, no facilities nearby at all. We were very disappointed on arrival. The town of Falaise (30 mins away) has better places to stay.
Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff friendly and welcoming It was a shame that neither the restaurant nor bar were open on Sunday evening
Excellent restaurant Rooms were a bit scruffy
Catherine & Plillipe were superb hosts, really looked after us, and have made the rooms very stylish and comfortable There was nothing to dislike
The hotel is clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and in particlar helped in finding a good countryside walk to do nearby. The hotel restaurant is very pricey. For example a starter of a few slices of smoked ham was €14!
Very individual hotel - an old building, well converted to hotel use. Excelent, very individual breakfasts (no cereals!) with bread, croissants, goats cheese and dozens of different home-made jams.
Our double room had only one mug, coffee and sugar packet, not "a welcome tray" as advertised. Noisy radiator kept us awake. En suite in a cupboard, could not sit on toilet unless the door open wide. Parking very limited, Rubbish and recycling bags piled up at entrance way.
