The room I had was very cheap, clean, tiled floor, cotton sheets with my own bathroom. The lake is a few metres away. Food is available and it's very tasty. Good wifi. A bus is available at 2.45
Needed a new shower head. It's a very simple village with tiny shops selling only basics and no other places to eat in operation, bring any extras with you
Awesome location right on the beach, great breakfast!
There was a strange smell in our room, kind of like sewage, and the sheets felt plasticy
Location rustic chilled vibe
For starters, I wasn’t aware of how “rustic” this place would be. Upon arrival we weren’t given a key for our room, which wouldn’t have mattered anyways since the door handle was close to breaking and could’ve easily been pushed in. Once in our room we quickly discovered there was plenty of space for bugs to crawl in (and bugs there were) under the door and through the palm sized hole in our window screen! The window didn’t have glass either so when it briefly rained this morning we got wet, which was actually nice since it was so hot but had it gone on for any longer our bed would have been soaked! Speaking of beds, ours broke when sitting on it. The staff quickly nailed it back together which was greatly appreciated but the whole ordeal shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Last but not least, food. This morning while eating our breakfast there was mold on my friends cantaloupe and the previous night when eating my burger there was a beetle enjoying my lettuce! Overall this place was very overpriced for the state of it, we would’ve left but the cancellation policy is very strict.
It is on the lake. We hiked Maderas and walked from Los Chocoyos. There are restaurants down the street. Breakfast is included. Towels are included.
Even though it was really cheap, it’s really far from the ferry station ($30 taxi US). Staff don’t speak English. No loungers or place to lay in the sun. Cold showers only.
Facing the beachfront in Mérida, Los Chocoyos features a bar and a garden. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and room service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. There is free private parking and the property offers paid airport shuttle service. The units at the hostel come with a seating area. Los Chocoyos offers a terrace. Bike hire and car hire are available at the accommodation and the area is popular for hiking and cycling. Altagracia is 17 km from Los Chocoyos.
