The location - right inside the Mesa Verde national park; otherwise it's much the same as any other inn/motel in that price range - slightly more expensive since you pay for the location. The breakfast cafe is a bit far from the hotel and the food selection there is heavily weighted to junk food. For the price they're charging, they could throw in a "continental breakfast" in their own restaurant like most motel chains do.
The Far View Lodge is in a great location if you plan to spend more than one day in Mesa Verde National Park. (If you stay in Cortez, plan on a 1-2 hour drive to Cliff Palace.) The rooms are pretty basic, and ours was fairly small with a tiny bathroom (shower only) and very short toilet.. The Kiva rooms have a/c; the others don't. If you want a King room, be sure to verify before you stay. We reserved a King, but were told they were sold out at check-in. The view from our room was beautiful. We also enjoyed the view from the balcony in the upstairs bar in the lodge. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. In fact, it was non-existent. Dinner at the Matate Room was good, but pricey. We waited longer to get a table by the window, but by the time we were seated, it was almost dark out. The service at dinner was good. We were given breakfast vouchers, because of the mixup in our accommodations. They weren't worth it. We were seated, but a server never came to our table. I finally got up and found the server and asked for juice and coffee (the food is on a buffet). The server never returned to our table, even though he was quite chatty and attentive with other patrons. We finally left the vouchers on the table and left, as we never even got our check! If you don't care about the convenience of the location, much better accommodations can be found in the town of Cortez.
Dinner was gourmet and amazing. never expected that knowing Aramark runs the facility. Also, you can't get any closer to Mesa Verde than this. nearest hotel in town is a 20-25 mile drive to the cliff sites. this hotel is in the park and a short 5 miles to cliff sites. from park entry to the hotel is a pretty steep 15 mile drive so if you're staying overnight this is the best option by far. was built in the 70's and shows it a little.
The lodge was inside Mesa Verde National Park which made it very convient. Next door was a cafeteria style restaurant with great prices and good food. The lodge remidned us of cabins at a campsite. The building is old but classic. There was a fan and no AC.
Beautiful views, grear food from the cafe where you check in at. Quiet and stunning views of the stars at night too. Overall just a couple of issues, would recommend it though. Room wasn't as clean as I expected for the price. Had trouble getting the back door to shut properly.
It's in the park so the location is perfect. Expensive for a dated room.
Location, View, comfort and decoration of the room. Nothing
Great location and views. The rooms are outdated. The carpets were dirty. The drapes had holes in them that let the light through in the morning.
Decor and theming was very cool. Price was excellent. Cement block walls in the rooms remind one of a state university freshman dormitory.
We liked how the rooms were specious and clean and the fact we didn't walk in to a hot room. We loved how they took the room number and turned it into a theme for that particular year. We will definitely true recommended this hotel to family and friends. Nothing
I enjoyed that each room number was a year and was decorated accordingly. Continental breakfast was great with lots of jams for toast as well as the usual offerings. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Shower had hot water. There was even a Keirog in our room. Be sure to pose with Elvis out front and check out the retro RV. No complaints at all!
The room was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again. Glad I took a chance and stayed there over Hilton and I am a Hilton member! The breakfast needed more options that was not about Toast - Wheat. More fruit or other options for the Wheat free people who is growing in numbers so quickly due to the health issues of Wheat.
No frills here but clean and comfortable.
Clean, quiet, good coffee, good ice. The AC was off on very hot days when I came into room after working all day in hot sun. Views from rooms were disappointing. Would be nice to have a view of Mesa Verde in back of room block.
Only there for one night. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Not a luxury hotel but very clean and comfortable. Definitely would stay there again.
The room was clean. The shower ran hot then cold and could not regulate the temperature. Bed was very uncomfortable and we asked for a king and got a queen.
We were looking for a low cost place to stay since we usually roll in late and leave early. We made it there earlier than planned and it was a good thing. The desk/ check-in person locks up at 9 or 9:30 to go home. She was very nice and suggested some very good choices for eating a late Supper, depending on what kind of food we felt like. Our room was very clean. Bed was very comfortable. We had a mini-fridge. They had thought of everything in that room, rags to use to clean your shoes or car. A dark washcloth for makeup removal. We have already recommended this place to family members Everything was perfect.
Awesome Staff. Good price.
The wood paneling in the rooms was old school--I liked it. Nearby to many state and national parks, so good location. The room didn't have many outlets for charging our phones at night.
Staff was wonderful, room was comfortable and location was very convenient. Super clean and quaint and the price was quite reasonable. Overall a great value and I would stay there again.
Staff was friendly Coffee pot was broken, microwave did not work
Convenient easy to access location. Kind of old and needs remodeling.
Room was bigger than other hotels we stayed at The toilet ran all night
Location and price Stairway dangerous with cement cracking and flaking off and door to bathroom stick closed and difficult to open and bathroom small and feteo1950s
Close to Mesa Verde Very outdated facility, clumbling starirways, overall needs renovation ASAP
Pool - almost no one else in it during our stay Room with a mountain view Able to extend our stay (at a better price no less) Clean room Updated interior Room had a table and chairs which made meals easy
Beds are very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathroom is clean and functional but out of date.
Pool was very nice. Rooms seemed old but were very very clean! Front desk is full of scammers. First they double charged my card, even after I approached them during the stay about the charges on my card. Then there was a sneaky 1.60 charge for safe insurance. Since I used kayak they charged my card directly for this. They said I signed for it and it wasn't verbal described because they said corporate can't ask if you are putting anything in the safe. They said its posted on the front desk. Yes that's only 1.60 but what else are charged and what if I didn't catch the overcharge. Very very shady! The clerk I called and spoke to said it was corporate's direction they were using regarding their policies. I am willing to bet econolodge doesn't know about it!
Price was right and room was clean... ...but very old and worn out. And the ice machine was broken.
Andrew W. made our stay wonderful. He is attentive and friendly and efficient to every request. The Econo Lodge is clean and the breakfast was delicious and on time. We extended our stay at Econo Lodge to drive up to Durango to ride the steam locomotive to Silverton. There are hotels in Durango but Andrew was so good to us and Econo Lodge was so clean and quiet we chose to drive back to Cortez. We enjoyed two days in Mesa Verde while in Cortez. We also took a day trip to Hovenweep. Fabulous vacation destination. It was our first time to Cortez but it won't be our last.
The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were really nice. The pool was heated and refreshing. They didn't have a crib for us to use for our little one and the fridge and microwave were added as an after thought.
We enjoyed the breakfast. The pool and Whirlpool was very nice well kept. Rooms were clean. Priced right. Our bed did sag a little in the middle. Still slept ok.
The rooms where very comfortable and the breakfast was great. Could hear the people next door.
We were running late. Due to car trouble. Thru were very accommodating. Friendly Made arrangements to call after hours to get into our room.
Young male receptionist excellent Wifi really problematic
Was a cheap place to stay had breakfast Beds not comfortable
We were hunting and wanted a clean and affordable place to stay in cortez, this is a yearly thing we do.our normal place was full so we stayed at travellodge and it was a nice place to stay.next year well stay there again. The bath room was tight but workable .
Nice location. A little "low rent" feel, but not dirty by any means. Staff was nice.
The rate as compared to other different options for date chosen This property has a sign saying it works under franchise name (Travelodge) but it is independedly operated. I guess you get a value rate but not necessarily chain standards
Check-in staff efficient and welcoming. Rate was easy on wallet. Everything we needed, nothing to not lke.
There was a really good pasta and pizza place nearby. No coffee maker.
the Viewfriendly host there was no hair dryer
Rooms comfortable and clean. Manager very nice and helpful. Will stay here again when returning to Cortez. Dave L. Texas
Very good experience with great staff... No complaints at all
It's not a fancy one but for the price I was pleasantly surprised. Room was clean, bed was comfy. We had many channels to choose from and free Wi-Fi. The owner is very friendly and I enjoyed meeting her.
The lady at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly. She told us about some activities downtown and was very helpful. The room was very clean. Location was great. A couple of smaller things needed repair. Floor lamp in room the switch didn't work right and the glider rocker outside the office needs repair. Also needed more chairs outside out room and in the office common area. Overall an OK experience.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
It was a very clean quiet room, Hotel employee is a awesome host. a great value, I would stay again.
the lady at the front desk was nice and friendly and helpful Hotel is run down and needs up grading is a little ways out of town . The price does not reflect the quality of the hotel
Clean reasonable room. Not for the luxery stay but just fine for a night's sleep.
The rooms were CLEAN! Thank you!
Clean and quiet. Helpful staff.
Old small hotel. The toilet are in our room was super small. My SO is petite and felt "snug" when doing her business. It was just Damn tight for me. Barley enough room to sit.
Hot day. Room was cool. No styrofoam used anywhere! Nice continental breakfast. Nice staff. Best motel I have ever stayed in!
Hot shower, was perfect. Room was freezing when we arrived but warmed up quickly, TV worked great, so did the fridge and microwave. Ya, it is older and looks like whitewash was used as paint, but it was better than having to sleep in my truck. I slept well, I will stay here again when I travel that way. It was in my budget. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and held my reservation because I was very late. The breakfast is from 7 to 9 but we had to leave at 6, so we didn't get, but for travelers that leave early, it would be nice to have it earlier, but that is okay. Can tell it used to be a smoking room, the bathroom had the drips of old smoke and no fan in the bathroom for when showering. The smoke alarm had no cover or battery, which could be a hazard. Parking very very tight, hard for my large truck. These things are not showstoppers, but know for future stays
Great rates, close to my route. Yer room was freezing when I got in and the ground was cover with ice. Outside the door there was a bunch of tools and construction material. There was no light outside my door, if my family had been with me, we would have kept driving. The room was clean, but well worn. The sheets and bedding were old and stained, though appear to have been freshly laundered. I pulled in at 11pm and was ready to get out of there before 5 am.
They offered breakfast and the price matches the facilities.
The National 9 is located within walking distance of several coffee shops and restaurants on Main St. The room, furniture, etc showed a lot of wear and tear, but everything was clean. As long as it's clean, I'm happy. The National 9 is a very inexpensive option. I would stay there again, if they fixed the hot water temperature. The hot water temperature was the only show-stopper for me. The hot water temperature for the shower and sink was really, really weak. At best it could be called "luke warm", certainly not "hot". The toilet flushed very slowly. I suspected the toilet might overflow each time I flushed it, but it never did. All stations on the TV came in very fuzzy. I didn't care about the TV, so this didn't bother me. Finally, the wifi was very slow. I tested it at about 300kbps, which is the same as my cell phone's 3G data reception.
The room was not clean at all. Hairs all over the floor and in the corners of the bathroom. The carpets were soiled and stained. The room smelled of mold. The towels were soiled and stained. The hot water took approximately 3-5 minutes to actually get hot and when the next door neighbor turned on their hot water ours went cold.
Wasnt quite what we were expecting but given the time of year and it was en route to Monument Valley, we were getting desperate! We actually booked for 2 nights but stayed for only one!
It was super late when I checked in. The door was locked, but through a window, the front desk woman met me with a smile, took my information, and wished me well while reminding me to walk carefully over the ice/snow. Very personable, professional, and efficient. The TV remote; however, I don't fault them. I know some idiot out there in the "ether" stole the original remote. So lame...
Price Only 50% of the light bulbs in the room were functional. Blanket was thin as a sheet; heater was inadequate. Fridge did not work well, and wall outlets would not hold a plug.
Great Location, Friendly Staff, and great Mexican restaurant next door. Hot tub not working.
location right on main street thru town with grocery restaurants very close by, room was no frills but not one complaint either, clean comfortable nice hot shower
Newly remodeled room One entrance and exit into parking lot
Close to Mesa Verde National Park.
I wish there had been information about the fact that this location did not have elevators. I have very bad knees, and was put on the third floor. Despite asking for a lower floor, I was told there were no other rooms available in the hotel (with an empty parking lot). If I had known there were no elevators, I would have called to request a low floor in advance or booked another location. Staff was not very friendly or helpful either.
Price was right. Staff was great. Overall cleanliness was lacking.
Our rooms were side by side with last minute booking This is no way close to a 3 star. Rooms are small out dated, no view, small hard beds, holes in the ceiling tile in the bathroom.
Loved all of it! Nothing out of the ordinary.
Great location for a night stay on your way to Telluride. The staff is helpful. You can hear the people moving around in the hallways & on the floor above you.
Nice rooms Slow internet 3.8Mbps
This is a great place to stay.we just needed a good nights sleep, so the added bonus of the hot tub and breakfast made our stay even a better value! No complaints! The owner was very personable and helpful....while the rooms are small, every other aspect is great.
It had rooms available when rooms elsewhere were reserved for a bike race and the nearby National Park which was the reason I came to Cortez, Colorado. The beds were uncomfortable. The breakfast was sparse.
The location was nice, rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and it is a family owned buisness. Bring your own pillows, definitely an older motel.
Quiet hotel in a great location. Several restaurants and stores are just a short drive away (or a fairly short walk if it's not too hot out).
The double-queen rooms were big and comfortable. We appreciated the staff being OK with our very late arrival. Pool was not open during the hours of our stay.
It was the staff. Wonderful people.if you want a little rustic in your vacation with personal attention from good people, visit.
A comfortable rural experience. First visual impression from driving in: children playing outside without electronics, and men working with livestock on the ranch. The owners, Garry and Ming Adams, are wonderful people and excellent hosts.
Slightly cheaper than Holiday Inn Express but only slightly, (only $15/night) Our original room was Old, broken bathroom tiles, and TOILET DIDN'T FLUSH...it didn't even have all the working parts in order to flush! They did move us, but when we returned from hiking the second day, the staff rudely insisted we were supposed to have checked out that morning. When I tried to explain that we had Prepaid for 2 nights she continued to argue and badger me. When she gave me the room paperwork to "prove" to me I was wrong, I promptly showed her the dates that showed we had paid for two nights. Only then did she back down. This hotel is NOT worth $115 a night!!
View of the Ute Mtns waking up All the doors to get to your room, 1" gap under the front door was cold & drafty.
Good breakfast, clean large room, quiet Wished the pool was outside
