leaving, I was reading a book recently that described the slums of Barcalona and I now know where the writer got his inspiration The room that was too small to have a wardrobe, a toilet with a shower in it that was too small to include towels they had to be left on the chipboard shelf in the roomthe threadbare carpet on the old staircase , the broken banisters
An ok hotell in the middel of old Dijon and in walking distans from all the historic sights. We had a big loft room with 5 beds. The hotel is old and not in the best om shaps. The shower did not work and the rooms felt damp.
This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in during my (many) travels. The manager and her husband were so warm and helpful, this made a big difference to someone who travels solo. The other staff were similarly pleasant. Also my room was nice and quiet and comfortable. The location is good - only five minutes from the centre of town, but quiet, and close to a bus route to the train station. But the best thing was the friendliness of the place.
Great location and friendly. The children liked the garden. The room was large and accommodated the 5 of us easily. No lift, therefore had to carry heavy cases to the very top of the building and given it was a spiral staircase made it more difficult. Also, the stairs to our room I.E. no. 21, were quite dangerous, particularly when you came out of the room. If it were an elderly person staying in the room, they may well have tripped.
Friendly, helpful staff. The public areas of the hotel including the courtyard garden were lovely showing off the age and history of the building. The family room which we booked was adequate in that it was big enough for the five of us with 3 single beds for our children. However it was in need of refurbishment and redecoration with old carpets a broken shower attachment and no shower curtain.
Vey helpful, English-speaking owner. Nice breakfast. Easy walking distance from the center of Dijon, on a bus route from the satation. Comfortable beds, good sized room. Very tiny shower room (impossible to dress in)
Michele, very friendly and helpful, breakfast great, personal service good
special experience of the hotel with his old rooms reformed to comfortable rooms!breakfast was poor.car parking available for only 3 cars ! street parking possible but you must pay every 2 hours. free bus to the center of Dijon for everybody! rooms walls are so thin.
friendly staff. owner lady speak english.
Staff very pleasant and helpful. None, except the weather!
this hotel is wonderful, and pascal is a gem. my room was spacious, clean, simple but almost modern in its design. brand new/renovated. probably could have paid much more for what I got. highly recommended
It was good value. Simple hotel, but everything was ok and breakfast was included. It was not easy to find a parking space nearby. 2nd floor was under renovation.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in a newly decorated family room, which was very clean, tidy and comfortable and a good size. The staff were very friendly and helpful with parking and supplied ample information about the town centre, restaurants etc. The hotel was situated in a pretty and quiet road but within walking distance to the town centre. I had a wonderful night's sleep there. There is nothing I did not like, but I don't think all the rooms have been decorated to this high standard (yet?).
The location is very good The staff were also very help full. Ithinkthe breakfast Pricesfar to expesive and that makes you loose bussines from custmers who are alread your guests.
We had a great stay! Dijon is a beautiful city and this hotel is just 10 min walk from the historical center. We stayed in a renovated level of the hotel (just 8 days after it was completed). The room was small but clean, modern and neat. Ask for the top level room, when you book. (They are renovating more end this year) The hotel owner is a friendly French man and he will answer all your questions and provide you with a city map. We took no breakfast -too simple to be worh 6 euro!
Upon booking, we requested a room with bath. We arrived at about 4 PM on a bank holiday and hotel reception was closed until 5 PM. When we returned later in the evening, the only room available was with a shower. This room had been renovated and was very clean, but also quite small and noisy. We requested to change rooms the following day and we liked that room much better. Renovated, quiet, with bath and a bit larger. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and thought it offered good value for money. Very basic (including the breakfast), but all fine if you take into account the room rate.
The price and the location The beds: the matrasses are very hard for the back; the rooms are extremely miniscule.
The room was really good as it had been recently refurbished. It appears the refurbishments are taking place progressively through the hotel. Parking was easy to find close by althought that may be because we arrived on a Sunday. Annoying that while check in was advertised as from 3.00pm the reception did not open until 5.00pm the day we arrived.
Very good location with easy parking. Very helpful staff None
Very good location near railway station
Helpful staff, excellent breakfast, lovely view from room to courtyard, great location
The location was good, near the Metro and several restaurants. Our room had a small balcony and overlooked the rooftops of Paris! The hotel was well maintained but the E7.00 breakfast was unexceptional with coffee from an automatic machine and breads that were less than fresh. The day shift front desk clerk, while not rude, was unfriendly. All others smiled and were very helpful. We were there for 4 nights and my travel partner had her purse stolen. The staff directed us to the police and American Consulate and were empathetic. Replacing a passport requires a police report, alternate ID or copy of original passport and $135.
This hotel presented excellent value for money. It was close to all the main attractions of Dijon. The room was large by European standards for hotels in this price range. The bathroom was new. no
Comfortable and clean room. Quiet area of town. Nice courtyard outside the front of the hotel gives a tucked away feel to the place Very noisy building - from my room you could hear every step taken upstairs/next door/along the corridor, and every word spoken at the reception desk. I was woken up constantly during the night and again at 7am
Very friendly, helpful staff. Very nice room. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice.
Reasonable price, quiet and clean City center location, getting out of the city and on to our route was a nighmare due to lots of road works and diversions in the city centre
The hotel is near the touristic points (walking distance 15 minutes) and restaurants and shops. The hotel staff is nice and explain to you what to do in the city, the directions... I could use the internet. To enter the passage where it is located is quite difficult if you have a big car. For the first time they didn't know about my booking reservation but the problem was quickly solved. Breakfast is not bad but could be better with small changes since this is a gourmet region and nothing different was offered.
Great location. Amazing restaurant. Helpful staff. Quiet room Outlook from window
The helpfulness of the staff. The central location. The first and more expensive suite we had was dark, no views very noisy if you opened the window due the air conditioner units operating. There were faults with curtains not well hung and not closing and the bathroom fittings were not all working. We did request a change of room and this was quickly done and the second and cheaper room was very good.
Good situation in the center of Dijon Hotel sart renovation, restorant was closed
Excellent location and accommodating staff. The only things I didn't like were that the room did not have a comfortable chair to read in, and the bathroom wasn't supplied with soap. I like to sit up while I am reading, and not at a desk chair. And I don't like to wash with shower gel.
The staff were welcoming, the room was clean and very comfortable. The bathrooom was modern and very well equiped.
The location-it's in the center I didn't ike, that I had to wait for the morning coffee for 10 minutes and the breakfast selection was poor. The room was a bit worn and it was difficult with a child to get upstairs as the elevator didn't go to the floor the room was located on. And also some of the reception ladies had a bit arrogant attitude.
nothing to mention
Please write at leastThe decor is very attractive and the staff super helpful by driving us to the train station during a strike.
Good Location. Near train station and places to eat and shop, as well as close walking to local tourist destinations. Lack of parking.
Excellent location close to the railroad station. Good for the price. Room and shower very small.
The staff were very friendly The bed was not very clean
Great location, good value for money Item lost from bathroom due to 'accident'
I found the room to be cosy and comfortable with good beds. Neat and tidy and tastefully decorated. Bathroom and shower also good. Staff were helpful in every way. Great value for money. Location excellent. No fridge or tea/coffee making facility. Couldn't find an English speaking TV channel. Saturday night so a little noisy (no fault of Hotel).
Friendly staff, good location. Other noisy tenents
The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of the train station, tourist offices, restaurants, movie theater and everything we wanted to see in downtown Dijon. For a very low price, we stayed in a huge family room that had two double beds plus a single bed and bathroom, with plenty of extra space for spreading out. That is rare to find in European hotels! We enjoyed the breakfast, which had a good variety of breads, jellies, cheese and meat, yogurt, fruit, apple sauce, cereal and hot and cold beverages. The staff was friendly and helpful and able to speak English with us.
Not much, close to the train station, but not close to the tourist part of town I felt terribly un-safe in this hotel, the bathroom was disgusting with mold everywhere, the doors where difficult to open and close, all noise in the hallway and stairwell could be heard in the room, no air conditioning, no pillows, mish mosh of hangers, i.e. felt like Salvation Army, not close to tourist area of town
Great location close to railway station, but not so easy to get to by car (one way streets). A short walk from tourist sites. Free wi fi. Car parking available (xtra E10), but a nightmare for various reasons! The room with the A/C had a fridge but it did not work. Very noisy from the street on Saturday night. One smokey room out of the two, despite asking for nonsmoking.
Price and Location - we visited our daughter who studies in Dijon. They had a very friendly staff and it was comfortably near to the inner city.
Free onsite parking. The hotel was very basic, but not very comfortable. The hallway was freezing, the room was also quite cold and the heat wasn't working. The staff was nice, though not particularly helpful when we were having a phone problem as we realized we'd left a computer elsewhere on our vacation. They could have offered to let us use theirs...They payphone had been "removed" and they couldn't tell us where there was one available. The hotel is an off highway type place, but very much you get what you pay for....
nothing that stands out yes it was next to a dual carraige way and a mainline railway
Convenience for a single night stopover at a reasonable price. Very limited shower space.Could not fully open the door as it was hitting against the toilet. Did not like the wool blankets on the bed, looked very worn and unhygienic, but the linen sheets were exceptionally clean. Dijon Bonsai could do with a makeover compared to Orleans Bonsai which was very clean, comfortable and more user friendly shower room .
Very little, breakfast was okay. When we arrived our reservation was not recognised by the automated check in system but this was handled very well by the manager next morning, the room overlooked the very busy railway line, high speed express trains meant a noisy location, also there was no seat on the toilet.
Nothing Smelly room, hard matress, breakfast only very basic, shaddy impression of the hotel in general, located far away from the center, not worth the money, even if it is already that cheap.
Good value for money On the first night the room smelled of smoke. This was not good.
Cheap Rates Hotel location is not particularly pleasant but main problem was in finding the place! Room was not cleaned and bed was not made after first night despite chamber maid trying to enter room at 8am. Given remote control for TV with no batteries. Location is very unfriendly for pedestrians.
Not alot Not Cheap for what we recieved.Wont use again
Room was freezing, heater tiny and no hot water! And it was winter!
Distance from Restaurants
Excellent location, friendly staff, the room is great (roomy, clean, nice lcd tv), esp. the beds, which are extremely comfortable (what they call "mybed"). Even though the price is not too cheap, we still find it's great value for the money.
This is a lovely hotel in a lovely city. The hotel is in a great position for shopping and for seeing the sights of Dijon. I would highly recommend this hotel.
A great, clean, comfortable and central hotel and with free garage parking! Restaurant is well worth a try, also. Will stay again for sure!
the restaurant poor satellite TV
The staff were very accomodating and the location was great The lifts!!
Know what to expect, expect Sofitels to be excellent! Usually have great resturants - Dijon's had an excellent one. The staff were very helpful..
Very convenient location to the old city, close to good restaurants, very friendly and knowledgeable staff .
Luxurious room, friendly and helpful reception staff, good location Bar staff mostly absent and were not attentive
Nice location, close to city centre.
Fantastic service and excellent value for money
the bar was good no tea/coffee making facilities in room, no hairdryer and lots of noise could be heard from the corridors
as a new hotel, the finish was really good. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful - thankfully making allowances for my poor French. My wife particularly liked the shower room!
It was only a passing threw visit, but the staff was friendly, provided us with everything we needed, the hotel is clean and the breakfast very varried.
good position (you could walk to the city center, but free Dijon shuttle bus is near), helpful staff OK but relatively small room (but this is something you should expect in this kind of hotel)
Location was great and after 10 minutes walking you're downtown. The room was clean and big enough for 2. Price was fair.
Able to book into hotel at 11am instead of noon as arrived early. No.
clean comfortable slightly out of centre
Hotel is very clean. Bathroom is nice and all facilities are quite new. I can get a comfortable hot shower in this hotel, which is not always the case in other hotels. Generally a very clean and functional hotel for a very good price. Parking is also directly under the hotel, and is quite secure. The hotel is only a short 15 minute walk to the centre of Dijon. Which is good, you just leave your car in the hotel and walk to the city. Buffet breakfast is good, a good variety to choose from. Hotel and neighbourhood feels very safe. Nothing major to dislike about the hotel. Only thing, there is no safe. Breakfast is not included in the hotel price, which was not made clear before booking.
Helpful Staff, Close to city sights/shopping of interest and good for the budget. Thank you.
The staff were very welcoming and very helpful in regards to local information. eg restaurants, tourist information The hotel did not have air-conditioning in our room, however, this did not impact on our stay.
Very well located to get around Burgundy, surrounded by all the best Pinot Noir vineyards of France, breakfast included simple but nice.
The staff was extremly friendly and helpful
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has a restful ambience which we loved so much. We'd love to stay here again.
Lovely surroundings, perfectly clean and well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The staff spoke English and were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has lots of character. The mattress on the bed in the double room was very hard and uncomfortable. There was a slightly unpleasant odour in the twin room. The hotel is on a main road so it is advisable to ask for rooms on the garden side.
We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. The staff were extremely helpful about local restaurants. The hotel's atmosphere is very relaxing.
The decor in the shared spaces and the backyard bar-b-que gave the hotel a feeling of comfort. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a great boulangerie 2 doors up. The initial difficulty of getting in and out of the building as there is no one on reception between 12 and 2pm and access is only through access code. A few more instructions about access when booking would have been helpful.
Pleasant, comfortable and very clean room with good size bed. Excellent, reasonably priced restaurant. Bottle neck at the breakfast coffee machine was a bit frustrating.
The atmosphere was really friendly and the staff cooperative. The location of the hotel is not the most convenient if you want to visit or have dinner in the city centre
convieniance to rail and town
Quick check-in procedure, knowledgeable and helpful reception staff, excellent sized bathroom.
Proximity to station. Usual standard Ibis quality. No unpleasant surprises. Professional friendly staff.
the location and the facilty to check in
Not too clean in the bedroom / bathroom, noisy from people using the rooms
High value for money
The personel is very friendly and efficient. the Hotel and rooms are clean. The Hotel is not fare from the train but not from the city side.
free parking on site. location and proximity to city centre bar and restaurant not welcoming. room basic and decor tired
Easy to find, friendly staff
We stayed at this hotel on route to our hoiliday destination and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. The room was clean and tidy and the staff friendly and courteous. We found the hotel easily and enjoyed a meal in the restaurant. After a long days driving it was a most welcome break.
The staff were helpful and polite, there is a restaurant which offered a good selection of food, overall it was fine for an overnight stay. The hotel was a bit dated but it was clean
The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them and the breakfast was exceptionally good, plenty of choice and we sat outside with a view of the lovely hills in the distance and dinner the previous night was quite enjoyable and reasonably priced, despite not being a very wide choice on the menu. The location was within very easy reach of the motorway and we only needed an overnight stop en route to Spain. The beds were large and comfortable and smelled clean. The location was strange, almost in the middle of a business park, and there were more hotels in the close vicinity so it is obviously a popular choice. The first room we were shown smelled terribly of cigarettes and we were offered another one which had a huge hole in the wall. We accepted the third room offered which was a disabled-friendly room and was more spacious but it had a terrible smell coming from the drains and the bathroom was a sort of makeshift 'wet room' but the water from the shower soaked the vanity unit which was rotten at its' base. The wifi connection also did not work for us.
Good rooms for reasonable prices. Good and helpful personnel.
Free parking area The room has smoking smell.
The bathrooms had been renovated with good towels NO
the staff - very friendly and helpful
Room was quite spacious. Well located just off motorway, best Chinese restaurant in whole of France 2 minutes\away. Staff were ok.Went to ask about free internet but got no help. Also no english channels tuned into Tv whilst every other hotel and even a caravan had english channels.
Friendly staff, clean room I booked the hotel especially because they have a restaurant. Unfortunately, we arrived on a Sunday when the restaurant was not open.
The hotel was very pleasant with great character and the staff were very helpful and courteous.
Hospitality of the staff Toilets in the room smell.
good location for us, the host was most helpful.
Quiet, friendly, lovely walks in vineyards, professional and relaxed host
Very nice hotel in wanderful sorraunding, Big room with comfort bad, very efficient and helpfull staff No complains
The hotel is excellently located in the middle of the vineyards between Dijon and Beaune. The Hotel de Vougeot was spotlessly clean, the proprietor and his staff were exceptionally helpful, and breakfast was extremely boutiful.
Helpful and friendly staff, beautiful setting, free parking and wi-fi Internet (a plus as not advertised).
Very friendly staff, lovely country-style rooms
The welcome and enthusisam shown by the owner/manager. Its location in the vinyard. The peaceful ambiance in the village. An excellent breakfast. Good value hotel worthy more than a two star establishment. The owner makes good wine!
the view over the cote d'or from our hotel room, the breakfast, the size of the rooms and the comfortable beds, the fact that you can rent bikes at the hotel (good ones; 18 euro per day).
Ambiance, Style, Accommodation Staff distracted by a large wedding: Impersonal service in dining room; late arrival of breakfast; Failure of bath plug;
Very restful environment. Room was very comfortable The meals were very expensive and marginal in terms of value. Breakfast at €22 was a lot. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice. Room was quite noisy from people upstairs - not their fault just very noisy plumbing
Great position in wine country, though not a particularly nice village. Impressive chateau and lovely rooms Dinner was very disappointing with poor service and very ordinary steaks
Loved the historic feel Wait staff could be more attentive.
The outside of the hotel is stunning, beautiful grounds, which makes the experience special. The staff are welcoming and gave us a room upgrade. The rooms felt a bit dingy and not perfectly clean, which you would expect at a four star hotel.
Superb setting, wonderful buildings, great food and wine. Nothing
The building, grounds and peace and quiet bed was not very comfortable, choice at breakfast was very poor, dinner and wine prices too high for the quality.
The food and rooms! We could not have a shower as it was broken. We had to have a bath!!!!!
Location, surroundings and external appearance moldy bathroom (flies, moisture, broken tile and no water in the bathtube). Room not so clean either ... No air conditioning. Restaurant: low/med standard. No sommelier service (astonishing for such an otherwise large choice of wine.) Poor service: dining and breakfast (Dining: no desert unless order provided at the begining - information received after the main course- Breakfast: coffee after 15mn, bread after 30 mn, cutlery after 1h and cups and glasses after 1h15). During breakfast time, also departure time, staff uses elevator (customers have to wait).Food: very inequal (dining: 3 starters tested 1: good, 1:average, 1 poor, 2 main courses tested:1 ok, 1 poor, no desert. Price: high . Breakfast: poor quality and choice. Price: very high.
We thought that it was the worst value for money of any hotel we have stayed in. We paid for a DeLUXE room and are put at the top floor with no lift and needed 60 stairs to reach the room. The aircon did not work and have one small dormer window. The room was sparley furnished and old and tired. We would never recommend this place to anyone.
Resturant was good comper to the rest of the other things Broken shower and door handels
Good staff good food all round first class and good value.
For the price, the hotel was as expected. Staff were very accommodating and our lack of French was not a problem. Room was quite warm and although it appeared to have the option of cool air, it didn't work.
My m/cycle sat/nav found it quite easily as it is on the outskirts of Dijon...its a commercial hotel and food good. Nothing
Everybody is helpful and freindly
Breakfast was ok They had no record of my booking.com reservation even when I showed them the paperwork. The hotel is tired and needs a complete re-vamp.
The restaurant on site meant you did not have to go looking for one after a long day driving as this was a stop over on route to the south of France The room decor look old and tired could do with a make over
Restaurant on site Room smelt of smoke, dodgy light in bathroom and not enough towels!
Restaurant available in evening
Very welcoming staff, clean, good food, good value Double bed broken and uncomfortable
The hotel is in a very quit and peaceful location. The hotel is small and cosy.
A most relaxing and comfortable hotel. Fire places were great and common areas and bedrooms really well decorated and quiet. Staff friendly. Good location to many little village and Beaune by car. Our bedroom and bathroom floors had grit on them and needed to be cleaned better. For such a lovely place with wonderful appointments we felt the girls at the front desk a little unprofessional in manner and dress
I loved the relaxed atmosphere at Les Roches and the beautiful views from the terrace.
Absolutely beautiful building and surrounds, luxurious rooms, delicious food and friendly hosts. What more could we want, hope to return soon!
The owners are very nice hosts. We only had a cheese diner on Sunday night but it was super. Nice location and downstair rooms like library and restaurant are lovely. Our hotelroom was not very clean and really needs some upgrading, just like the bathroom. 'The property is more like a mansion than a chateau. It's a pity that the couches in the library are full of dog hair, so it can't be used by guests.
very charming place. Highly recommended.
The overall atmosphere, unobtrusive kindness and attention of both owners, very personalized service. Positive feeling which is very rare and difficult to describe was always present at Les Roches. Absolutely quiet surroundings, nice view, large garden - what can you wish more?
A truly beautiful house/mini-chateau, beautifully cared for by Marco and Tobias - truly wonderful hosts! The Enchanted Room was truly that with the most comfortable bed on our travels. Wonderful views and located in a sweet village, handy for the wine areas and Beaune. The public areas were so comfortable and relaxing too. Tobias and Marco were a great source of local information - nothing was too much trouble. Great to see that there was no TV in the bedroom - such a brave but oh so right decision! Although we didn't experience it ourselves, we believe their dinner nights are fabulous! Can't recommend this highly enough! Bathrobes please! Even if it only in the deluxe rooms!
Stylish and quirky with a friendly atmosphere. Excellent dinner and wonderful countryside location. None
We loved the location, people, and ease of hospitality Next time we would ask for a room facing the valley
