9.5 Excellent
Pros: very nice house, good service, friendly host.
Cons: must be reached by car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing experience, comfortable bed and pillows extra fluffy, great amenities, breakfast was superb and taken into account my vegan preference and at the end they even helped us by giving us a needle and the thread to fix something that was torn.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent mini suite attached to the owner's home, with own private entrance. Everything is top quality and sparkingly clean. Splendid breakfast included. Owner is a lovely chap. Couldn't ask for more.
Cons: It's a pity there isn't a good restaurant withing walking distance - but they can't do much about that! The one recommended by the owner is only a short drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent for a short stay, really close to the autoroute, it was brilliant to have self-contained facilities so that we could really relax after a long, hot journey.
Cons: The wi-fi was really low speed, one of the slowest we have encountered, but the rest of the facilities compensated for this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The accommodation is superb and decorated very stylishly. Breakfast included very tasty homemade croissants and cake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice room with a beautiful bathroom. Everything is sparkling clean. Very good breakfast with homemade cake. Anne and Eric are very nice hosts.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and modern .
Cons: No where to eat within walking distance .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Probably the best "Chambre d'Hotes" in the region. Gorgeous breakfast with local specialties and home made pastry. Very quiet, nice and confortable place, but above all very sympathetic and very kind owners who gave us valuable info to visit the region.
Cons: Everything was 100% OK.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything but especially the possibility to have a nespresso coffee when waking up in the morning and the freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anne and Eric are perfect hosts and the facilities are superb. The relatively new apartment with a view into the walled garden is very restful and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast with home-made viennoiserie and conserves is excellent - thanks Eric. We have overnighted in the general area at least 35 times over the past 10 years and have stayed in over 12 different hotels on the way to England from Switzerland. No longer do we have to search for a room each time as we have now found the best.
Cons: There is nothing to dislike.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely place. Infact we made a detour of an hour on this trip so we could stay here again. Breakfast was brilliant and is served in a typically French dining room. It is obvious that every ingredient of the breakfast is of very high quality from the home made savory bread to the freshly queezed orange juice. We can`t recommend this beautiful stay enough. We will be returning yet again in the future! Thank you for a brilliant stay.
Cons: Our standards are quite high when we stay in hotels but we were totally satisfied with everything. 10/10!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: great breakfast, all homemade

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow. A simply wonderful place, very accessible from the motorway and set in rural, peaceful countryside. Emma was a welcoming host and our room exceeded our expectations. Wonderful interior with luxurious little touches. Fabulous shower and wet room with a large and spacious bedroom for our family of three. We arrived late and were unexpectedly treated to a delicious homemade meal with wine :). French cuisine is always a winner! Relaxing in a pretty garden with optional hot tub and swings for our little one, Hagebuche Les Charmilles is a gorgeous gem of a property and we highly recommend it to couples or families. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious too!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: All facilities you can think of, very well kept and spacious. Host can arrange for a very well 3 course dinner for a very reasonable price. Very good value for money, really excellent accommodation with all comforts. Host speaks English which still is a rarity in France in these kind of accommodations. After a long day on the motorcycle, a stay in the Jacuzzi was a perfect end of the day. Closed parking on site which was perfect for motorcycles. (and cars)
Cons: Nothing, just perfect.
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and so welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. The ambiance is fantastic.
Cons: The small small toilet
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house and gardens, comfy huge bed, very clean and breakfast was prepared individually. We were the only guests so don’t know how many they can cater for. If you like individual treatment this is for you. If you prefer a bit more anonymity like us then no. Lovely people, no dinner and the town didn’t have anywhere we wanted to eat, more snack bars.
Cons: We felt a little uncomfortable with the attention! It’s not us. We didn’t realise we would be accommodated in the house, thought the accommodation was chalets, of which there was one. This is not a negative for others, just not what we expected.ver
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast, spacious room and welcoming hosts.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner is extremely kind and greeted us at the gate with a smile and helped with the luggage. He took care of us very well and nothing was a problem. The cabin was very clean, warm and comfortable. Had all the amenities to be able to cook for yourself if you wanted but we also received great recommendations for nice places to eat just a 2minute walk down the road. The breakfast that was provided was delicious and when we mentioned we were going hiking we were provided with snacks to take with us! Would definitely recommend to a friend.

7.5 Good
Pros: The restaurant serves really good food. Excellent in fact. The welcome is very warm. The hosts are helpful and friendly.
Cons: The colours in the rooms are somewhat disturbing. Red, green, yellow... All come together and fight forum your attention. Breakfast is good except for the coffee. In they little van coffee doesn't stay warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is great in general with a beautiful view of the small town. But, what I like the most is the kindness of the owner. I was on my bike trip to Strasbourg, and my bike tire broke in Phalsbourg during a late night. I called the hotel asking if I could check-in after midnight since it was 6 miles from where my tire went flat. The hotel owner just told me to stay there and picked me and my bike up. He also gave me tools for fixing my tire in the morning.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is really amazing! Hotel rooms are decent and a good value for money. You may miss an A/C if it’s super warm outside but the peaceful area is making it all good again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely peaceful setting, with an amazing Michelin star restaurant!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: owners very helpful and friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When you approach the hotel you may momentarily question the booking BUT once you turn into the property you will love it. Situated beautifully on a small lake with ducks, swans and a few goats. It’s the ultimate relaxing site after a busy day. The restaurant will serve you a meal that is so good you will talk about it for days.

If you like hiking and visiting old castles, this is the place.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel exceeded expectations and was clearly a popular stopping off point for walkers and car enthusiasts. A lot of guests but staff were excellent and meal and service both very good. Room overnight was quiet. A good facllility!
Cons: Accommodation was clean if slightly dated and basic but perfectly adequate for a 1 night stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Very clean. Good restaurant.
6.8 Good
Pros: Amazing location just off the main motorway. Beautiful country setting and the pool was pretty good for the children. Staff were friendly too.
Cons: No air conditioning and we were in the top of the house which was not great for sleeping at all. There were plenty of fans in the room however which helped a little.
7.5 Good
Pros: quiet location in the woods. nice family. good food. safe parking
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location and great food
Cons: The rooms were a little 'tired' and all had flower boxes on the balcony with deda flowers so bit sad, run down feel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The evening meal in the restaurant was extremely good and the staff lovely and friendly.
Cons: I thought that the cost of the breakfast was a little high. I only had some bread and jam and tea and my husband a couple of slices of meat and cheese and coffee, at about £10 per person, we thought this was a little high.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly, the room was very clean and a good size and the bathroom very up to date. Breakfast buffet was good with a lot of choice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love this Hotel set right next to the forest with walks marked on the sign posts. Room was amazing beautiful natural wood beams exposed, bathroom top notch as was bed and beautiful décor. Food always fabulous will be back again and again.
Cons: Love this Hotel, everything was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Set in wooded area with plenty of walking routes. Food quality, choice and presentation superb. Good parking. Not far from main road and railway but the noise in the background was not intrusive. Pleasant swimming pool.
Cons: Decor looking a bit tired, adds to the atmosphere though. Took our dog and gathered lots of ticks in the woods - make sure your pet has it’s tick treatment.
Hôtel Restaurant Aux Trois Roses - La Petite-Pierre - Building

8.5 Excellent (706 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hôtel Restaurant Aux Trois Roses in La Petite-Pierre, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park and Lalique Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the pool and sauna. The views were spectacular.A lovely area to visit.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was great. The staff were very friendly. It was very clean. Views lovely. Quiet, so had a good night's sleep.
Cons: I asked for a latte macchiato but was told it wasn't possible. Although it WAS possible for them to give me an espresso, some hot milk and a mug (which IS a latte macchiato). It was added to my bill but was not expecting to have to pay 8 euros for it... The 'suite' was old and tired. The wood showed distinct signs of wear. It all just looked a bit tatty. Not many electricity points. The restaurant was very expensive, even by La Petite-Pierre standards. I went over the road.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was fabulous - loved the indoor pool. Views amazing. Restaurant excellent - fresh produce. Breakfast very good. The room very clean and spacious. We had a room with a balcony and so loved the views.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool, the beautiful view on the valley and the town with the castle.
Cons: The room, bathroom and furniture were quite old, the place could use some freshing up. The bathroom was tiny, you practically had to jump over the toilet to get into the shower.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The highlight of this property is its restaurant: really excellent food with choices of local dishes and great wine. The rooms themselves are nothing spectacular and a bit dated (at least in the section of the hotel we stayed in) but price is accordingly reasonable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by the receptionist who was very helpful and informative. We had a nice private little balcony with a beautiful view. The restaurant was amazing, given we were able to sit on the balcony due to the beautiful weather. The restaurant were excellent in accommodating dietary requirements including vegan and gluten free. Restaurant staff were professional and friendly.
Cons: As a family of four, two adults, one boy and one girl, separate beds for the children would have been favourable. While the car park was nearby, it was a short walk up and down a steep staircase, so unloading heavy bags needs to be done outside the hotel ideally. All the keys to all the rooms were hung up at the reception, easily reachable from the visitor side, and on more than one occasion, the reception was left unattended. When going out, we took our key with us. The sauna in the pool area was not on, and although it may have been possible to get it turned on, it would have taken too long to warm up sufficiently to use it .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: we had a perfect stay, friendly staf, amazing vieuw, clean and big rooms
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Panoramic view from the terrace, also charming town and helpful hotel staff.
Cons: Our small double room was extremely small--difficult to maneuver around if one person was sitting in the chair provided (and we are not large people). They have other rooms that may be more comfortable.
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent restaurant
Cons: Air con for the rooms
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms and excellent restaurant. Staff really helpful and pleasant.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at SPA Hôtel Au Lion D'Or in La Petite-Pierre, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park and Lalique Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room size and the fact it was a duplex so separate rooms for adults and kids. Lobby and communal areas very pretty and comfortable.
Cons: Too many chemicals in the hot tub.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Surrounding area and hotel were perfect. Clean rooms very comfortable. Staff very friendly. Excellent amenities.
Cons: Not much to comment here. Parking places ok but could be more.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything. We were also impressed with the female staff who appeared to be doing 5 jobs at the same time! And they were super nice too.
Cons: In our duplex, the air conditioning was broken on the upper floor, which led to a choice of sleeping with mosquitoes or dehydrating to death. It would have been nice of the management to slash our bill somewhat for the inconvenience.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful location and views. Very nice restaurant/breakfast room.
Cons: The room and especially the bathroom should be urgently renovated. The hair-dryer looked 30+ years old, with the plastic enclosure completely yellow after so many years, and a light-bulb burning. Also the very old laminated furniture supporting the sink was infiltrated by water and needs urgent renovation. The breakfast is not cheap at 16 Eur/person: for that price I would at least expect a nice self-service coffee machine, not a can of "filter coffee". Also many flies around the serving food area, and landing on the cheese/bread etc... it can't be so expensive to invest in some platter with cover... Several serving plates were also running out and not being refilled already half an hour before the announced closing time. We were also not impressed by the dinner quality, ok but not the taste you would expect from a restaurant. Room doors have a strong closing mechanism but no dumping... meaning making a lot noise if guests are not careful at night/early morning. Pity that the photos shown are all from nicely-renovated rooms (or old photos), none from the bathrooms or the more "economical" rooms. All in all, a quite bad price/quality ratio...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent with many hand made products
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable hotel. Helpful staff with private parking available at no cost. Swimming pool was also a bonus. Lots of resultants available in this quiet town.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great panoramic view from the restaurant (and from our room). Good food.
Cons: There is parking in front of the hotel but on our visit it was always full of motorbikes. There is plenty of parking at the back of the hotel, but it's down a very steep slope and there is no way of getting luggage to the reception other than by dragging it up the slope or via some very steep metal steps.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: staff were warm and welcoming food was exceptional nice little place for a one night stop
Cons: pool was out of use when wee arrived and we weren't informed. the manager of the hotel did attempt to redress the situation with us and apologise quite expensive. a little pretentious
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Personnel was outstanding
Cons: Two days out of three I had to park my car in the street (parking too small for all visitors?)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel overall. Great view from our balcony. Nice and relaxing.

Cons: Old fashion....
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and owner friendly Restaurant looking People coming to this place
Cons: Old rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, I have stayed here many times in the last 20 years. Great food and quirky rooms I really like it. Did I say great location
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The parking is easy. The check in was easy. The staff are brilliant. The food was to die for. The rooms are immaculate. The cleanliness is exceptional. The location couldn't be better. What a great place for a business stop or a holiday to relax and enjoy the scenery. I cant believe this hotel as only got a 2 star rating. I've stayed in worse 4 stars.
Cons: I couldn't fault the hotel in an way at all.
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location in the small town of La Petite-Pierre. Small parking in front of the hotel but with few places available.
Cons: This hotel really needs some renovations, the bedroom is clean but looks very old. Some electric plugs were dangerous, the TV is really small and was not functioning ! Also taking a shower with the same temperature of the water is like a challenge. The price is clearly overvalued without breakfast :(
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food in the hotel restaurant was excellent, same goes for the breakfast - at least by what you would expect at cultural intersection between France and Germany. Dont expect any cooked breakfast as common in Britain/US though - cooked ends at cooked (hard boiled) eggs. The alsacian flair was really conveyed well. Generally staff was fantastic, speaking both Germans and French, but heard them speak English too.
Cons: Spa is quite small and was a little too busy, but I guess that's fair for the money. Mattress could have been harder, and maybe a little touch up here and there wouldn't hurt the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was a delight, as was the village of La Petite Pierre and its surroundings. The Wehrung family has run Hotel des Vosges for several generations and has created a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent, though the menu was rather restricted, and the dining room overlooks the main street through the village, with views over the forest beyond. Car parking is available in the hotel's car park on the other side of the road.
Cons: I couldn't find fault.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from our room number 22 had a balcony and lovely views. Meals were very good. The chef was excellent. Good spread at breakfast buffet.
Cons: There are a number of steps up to the hotel from road level. If you are travelling with heavy luggage it's a job to carry up the steps. The menus were NOT in English and that could be easily corrected. Had to have if explained by a helpful waitress. It was very unfortunate there was a heat wave & the hotel had NO air condition or FANS
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything and everybody was excellent. The meals were superb, the facilities first rate, from car parking to rooms to leisure facilities.
Cons: My stay could have been longer but alas all good things come to an end for the time being.

Pros: The place is very nicely located in a valley next to La Petite Pierre. It has a jacuzzi with an amazing view on the mountains! The staff arr super friendly and helpful. Would return here any time again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked one to two hours ahead of arrival and were really lucky. The original booked rooms were sold out and got an upgrade to a bigger one, this was a really great and nice welcome at the location. We stayed there one night and didn’t take any dinner or breakfast. The location is well situated and there is plenty of paths to start a hiking tour or have a one over night stay during a motorbike tour in the northern vosges. The national park in this region is an amazing place as well. Tourist centre in la petit-Pierre is a few minutes by car away.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice setting
Cons: The food was not very good and on telling staff there was no apologies or compensation
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I had a bath - wonderful !!!
Cons: No breakfast included
10.0 Excellent
Pros: comfortable hotel in historic location in the woods. Very nice local Alscaian food - pike, trout - there are medieaval fishponds outside. We a were passing through, but this would be a great walking location.
Cons: happy with everything
7.5 Good
Pros: Good overnight stop in tranquil location where we have stayed several times. Good food in comfortable and cosy restaurant.
Cons: Bed quite comfortable but room pretty basic and somewhat on the small side for two average sized adults.

Cons: Buddha statues did not agree with the interior and atmosphere of the hotel.
9.5 Excellent

Cons: breakfast was a basic-looking buffet for €22 which seemed very overpriced
6.8 Good

Pros: Very cozy.
Cons: The restaurant had menus with no prices for women. I felt insulted - since when does a restaurant decide who gets to pay the bill?

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff. Perfect location for Locaboat clients. The village of Lutzelbourg is a warm, charming place to visit. Will definitely go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location with a lovely terrace over the water for drinks and dinner. Good value for money. Pretty village. We were holidaying by bicycle and my chain broke 4km away so walked in. The manager (owner?) made several phone calls and arranged for a family member to take me and the bike to the nearest repair shop which was 25km away. Wonderful and kind thoughtfulness to a traveller in distress! Good English spoken here.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: After reading negative reviews on trip advisor we were surprised and impressed to find the meals were really good. Nothing fancy but good tasty wholesome food. Staff were informative and the friendly Chef/ owner even took our cases and groceries in his car to The Locaboat office where we picked our boat up.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good room, clean and comfortable. Hotel has a restaurant, which was handy because there isn’t much else around and since we were on bicycles, travelling to a different town for dinner wasn’t an option.
Cons: Breakfast not served until 8 a.m. which didn’t work for us since we needed an early start. Had to go the bakery/cafe up the road instead (which opened at 5.30 a.m.)
7.0 Good
Pros: the traditional ambiance.
Cons: the limited time for eating in the restaurant - 6.30-7.30. We had to re-arrange our plans for the afternoon in order to ensure arriving in time. The hotel details on the Booking.com website should make this clear. there was also some confusion about payment for the room. the Booking.com registration suggested that my credit card would be charged 3 days before but I was charged for the room on the day. I am planning to follow this up once my credit card statements are available.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A small hotel which was warm and comfortable. Situated in a lovely position by the bridge over the canal. The staff were helpful and spoke some English.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on a Sunday evening, when we stayed, but a good menu was available at the nearby campsite restaurant. Breakfast was rather limited. The hotel would benefit from an update.
5.8 Okay
Pros: One of the owners was quite pleasent,
Cons: The chef was very rude and the waitress did not smile at all
5.8 Okay
Cons: Restuant very dated and uninspiring Food poor
6.7 Good
Pros: Excellent dinner, but closed Sunday. Breakfast simple but supplied cheese on request. Owner friendly and spoke excellent English as did the staff. Interesting location with canal and the inclined plane canal boat lift.
Cons: Parking a little limited but was not a problem to us. There was a hand douche spray but no proper shower.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, who made a real effort to speak english to us. Very good food is a lovely dining room.
Cons: closed for dinner sundays, however this seemed to be the norm in the area
5.7 Okay
Pros: Comfortable room though bathroom /toilet cramped - evening meal food good seemed to be made in hotel not mass produced
Cons: breakfast poor no choice (old fashioned French style continental) not worth money
6.3 Good
Pros: This is a very old hotel along the French canal system and is also reasonably close to the main highway. Our stay here was a highlight of our travels as the charm of the hotel was at least matched by the gracefulness of our hosts. We ate dinner here and suggest that anyone else staying here do so as the food, preparation and service are superb, and not in a snobbish way as in high-end establishments!
7.6 Good
Pros: Friendly welcome, charming owner, delicious meal beautifully served. We felt very comfortable and would return again. Hotel is right by the canal and we had a lovely walk.
5.6 Okay
Pros: Lovely position, gorgeous outlook beside the river, faded but charming large bedroom and bathroom, simple breakfast in nice and quirky dining room.
Cons: Do not arrive between 3 and 5.30pm and especially not on a wednesday when restaurant and hotel are closed! A phone call got us in ,but no food,no drinks, nor use of terrace etc...
4.0 Okay
Pros:
Cons: The web site quotes as below The "deck" leaning above the river Zorn with view on the boats going in and out of the locks on the canal will refresh your peacefull moments during the hot summer days." In fact you cannot see the canal or boats from the dining deck! The waiting staff had difficulty in completing our dinner order. I was asked to pay for dinner and room the night before - which I did. The waitress gave details of the bill to a colleague who prepared a credit card slip which I signed. I was not given a copy of the itemised bill. When I asked for one I found that breakfast (which we did not intend to take) had been included. This I consider to be sharp practice.
6.4 Good
Pros: People very friendly, helpful & efficient. Restaurant 1st class - wonderful food. Hotel style & decor charming - very French countryside feel.
Cons: Mattress on bed too soft - backache next day. Shame as apart from this stopover was excellent.
6.0 Good
Pros: A hotel of grerat character in a lovely area
Cons: The rooms look llike they could do with a bit of modernisation
