I am a frequent client for this restaurant, don't go there for brunch. In the regular days food is exceptional, service is average to good, ambiance is decent, reservations and reception HORRIBLE, price very high, but this is reflecting the customers appreciation for the food, restaurant being fully booked always. Overall, by far, the best Japanese restaurant in Miami and perhaps best from all restaurants in Miami. I am not in love with them, they are very arrogant, but the food is the best. Three stars for brunch which is ripoff and leftover food.\nPS. Miami restaurant is better than NY and Dubai, less than London

The food was very good. Extremely expensive . We were seated outside on porch . My chair was covered in a sticky goo that got all over my skirt and hands when I sat down. They were not even apologetic for this incident. We had no children but I think they put us outside in the children's area and that's why the chair was filthy. \nA day before or reservation they called to confirm . They said that because I made the reservation through open table they would honor the reservation but they would not guarenteeus a table . We may have to sit at the bar. They said next time I should call directly . Really? If they don't want to honor open table reservations they should not be part of it. I don't know if I would go back there.

During our meal, the service was outstanding (Matthew took care of us) but I rated it 'Good' considering that it took us 40 minutes to be seated (even though our reservation was 9.15pm). The bar was so crowded that we had to wait outside. Maybe a bar service outside would be appropriate. We've been to Zuma many, many times and we wanted to cause a good impression to our friends who were visiting Miami for the first time. Despite the fact, we did it! Zuma still is a great restaurant to dine in.

The food is amazing, it has to be to tolerate the uptight gentleman on the front desk who thinks he's doing you a huge favour by allowing you a table and the Katy Perry lookalike server who's total indifference was astonishing! Was advised because we had an online reservation with oown table we had to wait despite them seating people who arrived after us. we were finally seated 55 minutes after our reservation of 9.00pm and this was only after complaining at the front desk for the second time. premier tasting menu I reiterate was stunning, overall service ruined our evening...

Amazing dining experience as always. The crab legs and beef tartar (seasonal) are to die for. Presentation is second to none and drinks are just as incredible. I don't want to set the bar too high if I haven't already because it is all about expectations, but my wife and I joked that if we were on death row and had one last meal, this would hands down be the place we would have it with our next choice being a distant second.

Good food and table service. Terrible front end (hostess). Lost reservation. Then said they found reservation, but it for for one hour later than we actually made it. Showed hostess reservation actually made on phone (one hour earlier than they said). Our party of 4 was given terrible table that may have been suitable for party of 2 (tops). Salad served before cocktails. Then check arrived. Although it was never mentioned, or stated on the menu, the check included a service charge of 18%. I would have given server 20-25%. I asked why I was not advised that service charge was on check, and was told it is to ensure that the 'front-end (hostess) received a portion of the tip. She deserved $0. This is not the first time that this has happened at this restaurant. I have eaten there at least 4 other times, and the from-end are amateurs EVERY TIME!. Also, it seems that every time I dine at this Zuma, the sashimi gets thinner and thinner. I will not go there again.

This is the third or fourth time we have been to Zuma - everybody is painfully trendy here with the appropriate dark tight fitting clothes, trendy hair, ink and piercings ( and that's just the wait staff) - but don't think it is purely for the cliche crowd. The food is original, fresh, well presented with Japanese classics with a slight twist. The cocktails are also superb! I would highly recommend.

The food is absolutely excellent although the portions are very small and extremely pricey for those tiny quantities. What I truly disliked was the service felt very rushed. Plates were brought to us one after the other and because they are such small portions, within half an hour or 45 min the dinner was done. The waiter felt rushed to get us out of there to seat the next tables and I truly didn't appreciate that. The damage was $280 (only one drink each) for two people and the dinner was over in one hour from beginning to end. If it weren't for that the food is just succulent. They should just slow it down and allow people to enjoy their dinners.

We were celebrating a birthday and loved our evening at Zuma. It is in the Epic Hotel complex in downtown Miami which is such an exciting scene and vibe - the food was delicious, the staff attentive and helpful - from explaining the restaurant's menu, 3 kitchens, what to try, what to enjoy from the bar and more. My husband, by accident, left his Amex at the restaurant and the staff immediately secured it, called us as we were calling them and held it for us to retrieve without incident. Thanks Zuma for a wonderful evening - we will be back and have already told our friends to try Zuma.

Hab been at Zuma before but never on a Weekend. This time I went on a Saturday where they only serve buffet style.\nThe place was crowded and the replacing of the food was too slow. As a result, service was very bad and the best dishes were never available.\nAlso, the waiters should have been better trained because the lacked knowledge on how the service was besides having to attend too many tables at the same time.\nFinally, we ordered the Classic menu with Chanpaign. We also ordered a bottle of Sake. After having a glass of Sake, when I asked for my Champaign, they told me it was forbidden to have 2 different drinks at the table. Well, if that is so, I should have been informed before ordering a $100 bottle of Sake.\nBut, after complaining some more, they started serving both drinks without even asking for it.\nThis time I was very disappointed and will not go back to Zuma for a weekend lunch.

At arrival they sat us at a counter and when I objected they said that my reservations said flexible. But I don't recall OpenTable asking me for flexibility. I was very annoyed and complained and then they gave us a different table. Afterwards they came back twice and asked the name on the reservations and the second time asked me to write my name down. Never had such a bad experience with a restaurant via OpenTable. In addition my steak cane out long after the other foods since they said it was overcooked and they had to cook it again. But they never even offered a complimentary drink or dessert in exchange for the inconvenience

Great atmosphere. Food portions are tiny and very expensive but quite tasty. Make sure to tell the waiter not to bring everything at once. We had six dishes brought to our table in seven minutes. At one point the waiter stood over the table waiting for us the take the food off one plate so he could put another one down. At those prices you don't expect to be feel like you're eating in a cafeteria. The waiters are all very nice and friendly but it would feel more sincere if you didn't feel like you were being rushed out. Once we had paid, we were still at the table for another five minutes when the maitre d asked if we wouldn't mind giving up our table for guests waiting to sit. After the big rush act through the night, this wasn't the best way to end the meal. Overall, hip crowd, great atmosphere, good food, but you feel like they're trying to turn their table an extra time.

Attitude. Zuma Miami has this in spades. To enjoy a meal at Zuma you too must have the right attitude – think humility. Remember that you are privileged they let you sit at their table, that the chef knows best (regardless of your preferences), and if you complain to a manager he will in no uncertain terms tell you that “you’re wrong” (so save your breath). \n\nAs other reviewers have noted, your food will come out at random times when it suits the chef. The last of our cold appetizers arrived 70 minutes after the first one, which meant that one of our guests had to sit for more than an hour watching others eat. Dietary preferences preventing guests sharing dishes are irrelevant – remember that you’re privileged to be eating at Zuma, and you’ll get your food when the chef gets around to it. This also means that vegetables intended as “sides” may show up 30 minutes before your signature dish, or 30 minutes later. Just be grateful they arrive at all. \n\nAnd if, after complaining, a manager promises to “take care of the tab” because of the crass service, make sure your lawyer is present, otherwise you’ll still end up paying the check. \n\nBy the way, the food is amazing. It’s just that the service sucks. Dining out is not just about the food – it’s the whole experience, and Zuma can therefore disappoint.

My husband went to Zuma a few years ago and has been dreaming about going back so we went this past weekend to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We had the premium tasting menu and it did NOT disappoint! Everything was EPIC, leaving us wanting to lick every plate clean! They were also very easy to accommodate my 'no shellfish' rule and brought me a couple different items than what they brought for my husband (who does each shellfish i.e. lobster, crab, etc). The drinks were phenomenal and the service was perfect. Definitely go hungry if you get the premium tasting menu because it is HUGE! The food came out at a perfect pace as well, so you were basically eating for 2 hours straight.\nNOTE! If you are booking through OpenTable, you only get the tables in the lounge so be aware because the tables are smaller, the seats are lower and the bar area gets pretty loud. Also, if you are over 5'10, it will most likely be uncomfortable for you to sit in the lounge. We didn't realize this when booking for our anniversary so when we got to the restaurant, they couldn't accommodate us in the main dining area because they were fully booked.

Our family of four dined here during a several weeks vacation to Miami, meaning we dined out a lot. This was THE BEST meal, hands down! Everyone from the hostesses, to the bartenders, to our waiter, David, was pleasant and professional. I am vegetarian and David was very knowledgeable about the menu and able to make 'safe' recommendations for me. This is actually my second time at the restaurant; both times I ordered the mushroom hot pot dish. It is TDF! The dishes are made to share, in general. However they tend to be small. The hot pot is actually rather large and excellent for sharing. We all agreed that this was our best meal of our trip and we have dined at some great spots during our time here. We would recommend it to anyone not overly concerned about their budget (it is quite expensive). Can't wait to return on our next trip to Miami! Wish they would open a Zuma in Boston (please?)!

The more I go to Zuma, the more I am disappointed with the service. For example, we ordered off the business set lunch menu but also ordered a roll as an appetizer, however, they failed to take away the appetizer in time so the table was crowded by the time the other dishes arrived. Also, at the end of the meal, after paying the bill, our waiter failed to offer more water and would not even be around, so we had to ask another waiter for water.\n\nThe day's gyoza (black cod and shrimp) was tasty, but the black cod with miso main course was not only small portioned-- smaller than usual-- but also slightly overcooked. The sauce was also heavier and sweeter than normal.\n\nAll in all, I am growing disappointed with Zuma Miami. Some of the food and the service (mind you they automatically add a service charge) have worsen.

The quality and inventiveness of the various sushi dishes lived up to our expectations. The 750ml bottle of Junmai Daijingo sake was exceptional and big enough for the 4 of us. As expected, the prices were stratospheric also. It would be nice to be on someone else's expense account, but we were not. I will still go back at least a couple of times per year - only limiting factor is the pricing. The quality and flavors are certainly there.

We then asked the hostess to cancel the reservation at which point the hostess offered us a table in the main dining room. SHE NOTED THAT OFFERING US A TABLE IN THE MAIN DINING ROOM WAS AN EXCEPTION TO THE RESTAURANT'S POLICY THAT RESERVATIONS MADE ON OPEN TABLE ARE ONLY FOR THE LOUNGE OR OUTSIDE, NOT THE MAIN DIING ROOM. There is no notice of this policy in the restaurant's description on OpenTable.

Horrible service and hostess was not very nice at greeting. Waited too long for main entrees. Food also was not very good for price points. I frequent other Zuma locations in New York, London and Dubai and they are outstanding compared to the one in Miami. The waiter was very attentive, however food arrived late and one of the managers was kind enough to remedy the situation but it just made it an overall unenjoyable experience.

Our server rushed us through a Wednesday night dinner. The other guys kept asking to take our plates while we still had food. Manager asked us to go to a bar seat because we had been at our table for 2 hrs and they needed it for someone else. We had already had 2 bottles of wine and was trying to order a 3rd and desserts (There were 3 of us) and the manager was not willing to do any thing or gets us seats at the bar. \n\nI had a similar experience at Zuma in NYC. Must be in the manager training book. Our bill was over $600 for the 3 of us, so it's not like we weren't spending money. We went elsewhere and spent another $300 that they could have had at Zuma. \n\nI will NEVER return.

Even with reservation, they gave us two seats on the balcony, in front of the sushi men's. We're waiting for a two seats table, of course! We hate the place, they told us that the other choice was a table near from the bar, that was very bad because there are too much noise and people walking around! It was my first time there, with a very high expectation. Unfortunately, I think we're not a kind of people that the restaurant think is importante to have a real table!

Great night at Zuma! The food and sushi was very fresh, creative, delicious. We arrived a little early for our reservation and got seated about 20 minutes after arriving (about the time of reservation) which is pretty good for Miami! The scene was busy, lively, hip. Waited at bar, had yummy lemon drops while waiting for the table. We sat outside which was beautiful, outdoor terrace along the river, and view of gorgeous yacht. Outdoor seating was definitely quieter and less 'energetic' than inside. Our server was little aloof but did a fine job. The food was excellent. I will say I'm partial to Nobu, but Zuma was every bit as good, and seems to have more options, especially for a friend of mine who doesn't eat sushi or seafood. The fact the my other two friends did not show up, does not justify such a bad treatment. The restaurant seating is too tight. The Music was like a disco with loud drums; bar was over crowded and crept into the dining area. Food was very highly priced. Capital Grill is a lot better in all aspects. \n\nThe salmon entry took over one-half hour longer than the other items. It was explained that they bring the food out when it was prepared. That was terrible because the other food was shared and cold before the rest of the meal was served. Having worked in the restaurant business, this service would be unacceptable at any restaurant -- even McDonalds. The waiter even had to get his manager involved just to get the salmon finally prepared.

Business trip to Miami but managed to fit in a bit of RNR, as well. Stayed in the Epic Hotel (fine hotel). Arrived to Miami mid-evening and decided to stay w the restaurant in the hotel - Zuma. Wow. One of the best meals we have ever had. All aspects of it and the environs were good. We had a selection of everything from tofu > fish > beef and all were great. Service was very good. We actually went back a second nite as well for a full meal. This was better than the first nite. So, we are happy campers. It is a bit pricey - expect about $250 for two w drinks. But as far as evenings that come in at that price, this met all the affirmative criteria. The place is really energetic and noisy. So, we sat both times side-by-side at the sushi bar, where a full menu is offered. Its just enough out of the way to be a bit more peaceful. And its a very interesting view

This was our second time in Zuma. We came back because the first time was an all 5 star experience. This time was quite different. Let me point out first that the food and the quality of the food is extraordinary. However in this visit there were other areas where they were deficient. The main issue was that the time to deliver the food to the table is very variable. The concept of this restaurant is based on small plates. So typically for two people we order between 5 and 6 plates. The idea is that the food comes continuously to the table. The waitresses even recommend that you order all your food at one time so that they can plan the food arrival to the table. Our first plate arrive shortly after we ordered, however the next plate arrived 40 minutes later. Needless to say our appetite was gone. The other plates continue to arrive inconsistently. We understand that the kitchen sometimes get out of sink but that is a mayor flaw for the small plate concept of this restaurant. It was disappointing that even thought one of the manager came to our table a couple of times he did not have the courtesy of even offering a complimentary plate or cocktail. We love the food but it will be a while before we give this restaurant another chance. So we cautiously recommend this restaurant for the food but be aware of our experience.

We went for the Miami Spice Lunch, early-\nWe received a nice table, but right away noticed that our waiter was sub-par.\nOur entrees arrived at much different times, as did our desserts, so we were able to sit around watching each other eat. It was not busy and still our requests for missing plates/silverware were very long in coming. When our table was touched by the manager we expressed the situation; even he was slow in responding to our needs. The problem went beyond the servers, it was also the kitchen. \nThe good part was that the food was truly outstanding and unusual but this did not make up for the exceptionally bad service which bordered on disrespect. We will not return. \nTo add injury to insult- Later that afternoon, i saw that the hood of my car had minor scratches and greasy smudges; apparently from the valet running under the parking arm. I know this happened at Zuma because i had waxed my car that morning.

Great food but success breeds contempt!\nThe curse of successful restaurants is always unfriendly and blase front desk staff and this is no exception, sadly. If you can get past that the staff in the restaurant are much better and the food is consistently good. Service can be a little slow when they are busy and this last visit they had run out of one of their signature dishes which was disappointing.\nBeware of booking through OpenTable because you seem to get secondary seating preference to those that book directly. OpenTable reservation more likely to not be in main restaurant. And making request/preference to reservation desk unlikely to accomplish anything for reasons already stated.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Zuma. The Miami Spice food options were very tiny and although very well tasting we had entrees that were an insult to our appetite. The service was terrible! Our waiter took 35 minutes just to take our drink order on a Wednesday night, unacceptable. The appetizers were brought out one at a time which made for an awkward dining experience since my friends had to wait with their tiny food in front of them while others got their plates 20 minutes apart. This restaurant should be banned from Miami Spice. If you aren't going to do it right, don't do it at all. We each spent $60 plus the mandatory 20% tip and walked away hungry from the tiny portions served. Service is terrible, I don't understand why this is such a hot spot.

After two ABSOLUTELY AMAZING dining experiences at Zuma so far this year, this last visit was extremely disappointing. Despite making my booking well in advance, and despite the restaurant being empty since it had just opened for the evening, I was seated in the bar area - an area I would never have wanted to dine in. The waiter was so-so. Previous wait staff have gone above and beyond to make our dining experience an event to remember. This guy could care less. I was very surprised. Had this been my first visit to Zuma, I would not recommend it to my friends and family, and I probably would not go back. However, since my first two experiences were beyond amazing, I will probably give it another try in the future. I just can't believe the start difference this time around. Was like a different place.

Great as always. Good ambiance and service. A pity they did not provide the Miami Spice menu immediately. Why would the chef play a roll on service that's demanded (for high paying clients) with regards to 'No sushi at the bar for dinner as the chef feels as though sushi would be better served at a table as people can experience better??!!! Really? Are you kidding me??? Have you met me? I'm Japanese and sushi can be served anywhere as long and it's 'outstanding' hence, this is EXACTLY WHY I COME TO ZUMA!!!\nTell the chef (if that's who really is controlling what the bar serves) he's stupid!!!!! Money is not being spend more because you're stopping the sushi at the bar!!!!!!

The food is good and decently priced. However, service is absolutely terrible. From the waiter's demeanor to not paying attention to empty water glasses, it was a miss (and it's usually that way). Not only that, but one of the guest's dish didn't make it to the table until after 20 minutes after the rest of the party had been served. The worst part is that they charge the service fee automatically and yet, they fail to give good service.

Upon arrival, I went to the desk to check in since I had an OPEN TABLE reservation. The two girls were too busy talking to notice us. When I gave her my name, she was confused. Then left us standing there for a long time. We ended up seating ourselves at bar. \nThe bartender looked hostile and didn't offer us a menu of any kind. We finally asked for menus and he gave us one for two people. Then we begged for a drink menu and it was thrown at us. No suggestions. There were only four people at bar so he was not busy. We decided on a lychee martini and it was delivered pre made in 10 seconds. The glass was half full for $14. He walked away and ignored us so we couldn't say anything. We ordered three dishes to share that were wonderful. His only suggestions were the most expensive ones on the menu.\nA new bartender came in as we were leaving around 3 PM. He was amazing and made the same drink for others from scratch and the glass was full. Wish we had him make our drinks!

The food at Zuma is always outstanding. But the service is so Miami. And a bit low class for such a fine destination. We arrived a few minutes early. But we were told to wait in the lobby or the bar for our table. The lobby. Really? ?? We went to the bar, ordered our drinks, and within a minute or two a hostess came to take us to our table - which, of course, was already waiting for us. When I asked her if someone would take our drinks to our table she looked at me like I asked to dance on the table. In a good restaurant, someone always brings the drinks to you. Then when we sat down, I noticed the chopsticks were the same ones they have at the Winn-Dixie takeout. The cheap wooden ones that need to be separated. Not at all classy. And they had the audacity to charge $9 for homemade bubble water. \nSome of the servers were excellent, others not at all. \nWe have eaten at most of the top restaurants in the world so please, Zuma, don't put on pretentious for us. Don't think we'll go back anytime soon. Too bad too because the food was quite good.

We went to Zuma for the first time to have Miami spice lunch and requested to sit outside on the terrace where it was quiet. The spIce lunch was well rounded including soup, salad, sushi, entree and dessert, and meticulously prepared. The service was attentive and professional (although we had to wait an unusually long time for our swordfish and steak). We also ordered two appetizers in addition to the spice menu thinking that the portions would be Spartan but we were surprised that the lunch was so copious.

When we arrived to the restaurant our table wasn't ready so we went to have a drink at the bar. It took so long to get someone to even look up to me to order I almost just didn't even get something. Finally the hostess came to get us for the table and sat us down.\nOur server, Alex, was OUTSTANDING. He was very attentive, polite and knew everything about the menu. \nWe ordered our food that came out in a really weird way and made us all mix up our plates but it was delicious.\nThe table next to us was with some cool people we ended up interacting with, one of them ordered a round of drinks and paid for it after we got it and by the end of the night when the bill came, it was charged to us again. The manager came over and he was anything but helpful, so one of the people we were there with picked up the tab, AGAIN. \nFor a restaurant of this caliber, I was shocked to have that happen. They never picked up any of the old glasses and you could definitely count only 2 round of drinks when we paid for 3.\nThe waiters are amazing, the bar needs improvement and clearly the manager doesn't care for customer service. \nOverall I think it's a very expensive restaurant in comparison to the service. \nI would keep going to Tamarina, which happens to be a sister restaurant, instead. \nThe service there is IMPECCABLE, wether you're having an appetizer and a glass of wine or a 3 course meal with a bottle of expensive champagne.

I've been to Zuma before and never wrote a review because it was just OK. This time they definitely blew me away!\n\nWe did a tasting menu and the timing of the items were well executed. Additionally, I found it to be a great value vs my previous visits where we ordered lots of stuff a la carte. The waiters/waitresses also did well in explaining the items as they delivered them. Our waitress also surprised me by actually listening to a casual comment I made at the start of dinner that we were celebrating my best friend. When my best friend went to the bathroom towards the end of dinner she confirmed what we were celebrating and added a candle to our dessert with a 'Happy Birthday' note. This was unexpected and so appreciated. Additionally, the manager (I think) did rounds throughout the evening and stopped at every table to chat. He was very personable and it was an added touch that made the evening special.\n\nBooking: I booked through OpenTable 2 weeks in advance. Thought everything was set. The day before the reservation they left a voicemail wanting to confirm reservation. Called them back and was astounded when the hostess said 'this is to confirm your reservation in the lounge.' Good thing I was paying attention, I let her know that was not the expectation and it needed to be corrected. She then told me there were no available seats in the main dining room at that time (even though I made the reservation weeks in advance). I let her know this was unacceptable as the tables are not 'real dining tables,' and we had a bit of a back and forth. However, I did request to change my reservation to a time that would allow main dining room seating and they offered 15 minutes earlier which we took. The only reason I continued with the reservation at this point was because my bff had never been and really wanted to go. I am glad we did and it was worth it this time around.

Miami Spice menu was OK. We ate at the beginning of Dinner service and we ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and were told it was 86'd. I mean, the Chilean Sea Bass was the best entree and the whole DRAW to go there. Also, we were told the appetizer Foie Gras was unavailable and got another appetizer instead as part of spice. But then, when we got the check, guess what we were charged for...the Foie Gras. \nAnother thing -- when our waiter first came up to us to get water etc he said he would 'Bring out some edamame' for us, giving the impression it was like free bread. NOPE. There was a charge for this on the menu too. This place is overpriced and I don't like being scammed on the bill.

There were a lot of problems with my reservation. My reservation was scheduled for 1:30pm th, and I was called Wed at noon to confirm it. Then I was contacted again Wed at 8pm because I had not showed up for a reservation at 7:30pm. When I tried to clarify the date and time, the hostess stated 'I had made a mistake' but that she would change my reservation for next day at 1:30pm... When I showed to the restaurant Th 1:30 as reserved on opentable, they could not find my name. I even wrote my name and phone on a piece of paper for them. They seated me anyways, then interrupted my lunch with a call to ask why I had not showed up for my 1:30 reservation. I walked from my table to the hostess desk to let her know I was there, and she did not event apologize. I guess these type of confusions can happen everywhere, but the hostess was extremely rude... So, one thing added to the other really diminished my experience there. The food was fine but I have eaten better Japanese food in MIami. You are paying for the ambiance.

Went here to try out the Miami Spice menu with friends and ordered some sushi from the main menu as well. \nI ordered some Cucumber and Avocado Sushi (6 pcs) to start off, and it was great! The cucumber was cut very thinly, and tasted amazing. \nFrom the spice menu, I got the Sashimi option with the Chocolate Pot de Creme. The sashimi was great, literally melted in my mouth and its seaweed, rice and salmon roe accompaniments were a great combination. It added much texture and flavors to the sashimi. \nThe Chocolate Pot de Creme was innovative, and took a lot of courage to dig into, but was delicious! The actual pot de creme is beneath the outermost layer of what seemed to be black, grey, and white salt. I was not a huge fan of the whole mixing salt and chocolate idea, but I did end up finishing my dessert quite quickly so I can't say I hated it. \nThe service was great, but could've been better. We kept getting rushed to finish our entree by our server, but this was fine. I appreciated his gesture of getting me a napkin to match the color of my dress (it was very kind of him). However, it took him forever to get us our second bottle of water, and he gave it to us almost the same time we got our check billing us $18 for two bottles of water. We were shocked, but obviously it was our mistake for not checking the price before ordering. Otherwise, our server was amazing and was very attentive to anything we needed!

Defiantly a great place to be in the scene. The atmosphere is excellent ! The drinks like the Zombie or Mai Tai are excellent !\nThe food is average though! I ordered 3 appetizers & 2 main courses, plus dessert... So it's clear that I tried a few things.\nThe place doesn't need my opinion cause it's rocking!\n Disappointed unfortunately with the dining experience.

I had high expectations for this Miami hot spot but definitely a scene to be-seen place where focus is on patron and servers looks vs taste of the food. The Uni-Truffle sushi ($45/piece) was served with uni that wasn't fresh (I know cuz I'm Japanese), and there really was no standout dishes for me throughout the night. The only highlight was a celebrity sighting, but besides that, service was mediocre-to-poor and overall, I have zero reason to return.

the Omikase menus are over the top, responsive to diner's unique needs and allergies, and the service is not only efficient, but knowing! Great sake finds but a bit on the expensive side so just be prepared....you won't find better ones easily elsewhere, making it worth the expense in the end. Only odd thing was that i never received points for dining.

Been wanting to go to this restaurant for years; but never had the opportunity as rarely around the Miami Downtown area for dinner. So some friends suggested that we try the Miami Spice menu and go on a Monday Sept. 28 at 8:pm to be exact. Things started to feel uncomfortable when my reservation via Open Table was not accepted and was forced to leave a $50 deposit for a group of 6. Did that and our table was ready and waiting for us as expected... Great! But from that moment on everything went downhill! Waiter did not offer us the Miami Spice menu; he said 'that they did not participate in Miami Spice'. After some confusion he finally brought the menu and we all ordered. Cocktail drinks came to two of us first... everybody else 20 and 30 minutes later. 2 items from the Miami Spice menu were not available and were told half hour latter. No substitutions were offered! We were all forced to select from one other item choice. Half hour later when our food finally started to come out from the kitchen; it came out in portions every 15 minutes or so. Some of us were finished and others just starting to get served... Even though we all ordered the same. Then we were all finished staring at each other and waiting for our dessert that took one full hour to arrive. During this time we asked for the manager 2 times and saw our waiter talking with him. We can see the manager waive no to our waiter, look towards our table and walk away. HE NEVER CAME!! Exiting the place; located and walked up to the manager and told him how disappointed I was... His reply 'you should have told me'. We all saw the waiter go talk to him after both request. He just flat out lied to all of us. So conclusion: $600 bill for 6, $22 valet x 3 cars, poor service, lying manager, stress... THIS PLACE IS SOOO NOT WORTH IT! Did I mentioned that the food was ok?

Cattle car. After waiting at the bar for 30 minutes after the time we had reserved the hostess showed us to our table - in the bar! She said that since we had reserved through OpenTable that seating in the 'Lounge' was standard. Wait staff rushed us through dinner and brought the main course with th the appetizers. So evident that Zuma's philosophy is to turn tables at the expense of customers' enjoyment. A sad downhill slide since our visit a few years ago.

The food was excellent. Yes, it is expensive, but honestly not as expensive as I thought it would be. Meat Market, for example, was much more for steak which was not as good as at Zuma. The menu was varied and everything was delicious. Waited 15 minutes for table after reservation time - not horrible, and expected in Miami, particularly on a Friday night. Was not seated in dining room but had a good time regardless. Host was very attentive. Only complaint is that waitress was not attentive at all. Showed no interest in us and was just going through the motions, without a smile or comment. Typical for Miami - but NOT for a place like this. She won't last long.

If you are going to Zuma for brunch, be prepared for excess. The brunch options start at 90 and go up to 300 plus. Each of them includes bottomless champagne / champagne cocktails, rice an entree, a buffet and a huge dessert tray. The upgrades get you certain entree choices and more expensive Champange. The two more expensive options come worth shaved truffles in the rice. If you are going to get your money's worth, you'll want to take your time. \n The restaurant is situated in the beautiful Kimpton Hotel on the lobby level, overlooking the waterway. The rice with the truffles is wonderful and the buffet is vast and filed with lots of gourmet elemental tapas. The entrees I tried were just OK ( tried the Salmon and Cod).

I really wanted to love this place, but it is a bit schizophrenic at best. I booked on OpenTable expecting the dining room, but ended up seated in the “lounge”. The “lounge” is basically bar atmosphere, the “dining room” is just a tad nicer (at least you get a real table), and the “terrace” is an outdoor porch with patio furniture overlooking the Miami River. None of the spaces in this place are remotely engaging, and it has a bit of a tourist trap feel. The view of the river is nice, but you can get it with better food at Il Gabbiano up the river. I would gladly pay more for a more appealing environment. Also, they don’t allow corkage, which I found out from a rather cheesy Sommelier after putting my bottle on the table. The wine list is a bit scant, especially lacking in creative new world offerings.\n\nThe food was all over the place. The sushi (pirikara hamachi maki and watari gani maki) was disappointingly mediocre with an occasional off flavor. The artichoke (azami yaki no truffle wafu) could be great, but the artichoke hearts were under grilled and you couldn’t get enough wafu dressing on your bite to really enjoy the combination. The much touted spicy tenderloin (gyuhire sumibiyaki karami sauce zuke) was neither spicy nor tender, and I have had better dessert (zuma bamboo) at Appleby’s.\n\nFear not, thankfully there were some hits. The pork belly skewer with mustard miso and black cod miso were both exceptional and worth returning for if you can stomach the environment. I also enjoyed the lamb chops with Korean spice, but they seemed very out of place in this supposedly “modern Japanese” establishment, so much so that when I asked the cheesy Sommelier how they were, he responded that Zuma was Japanese and had no Korean offerings!\n\nIn Summary, there are a few hits, but it is hard to escape the tourist trap feel. I would stick to Nobu, Makoto, or even Sushi Samba.

Have been to Zuma Miami several times as well as Zuma Dubai and Zuma London. Was very fond of this restaurant and have always recommended it to everyone I had the chance to. Once I made my booking we were 15 mins earlier they told us to wait until our scheduled reservation which was perfect. Unfortunately 25 minutes after our reservation was due i still hadn't been called by the hostess. When I went to ask what was going on she said she didn't even remember our name. Once I reminded her she made us wait another 20 mins for a table. We sat outside and when our food started coming this weird white substance was falling on us. I understand this was not their fault but the best they could do was change our plates and glasses every 20 mins because they were already full of that white thing falling from the nearby trees. The chef did send us complimentary grilled shiitake mushrooms which was nice but we weren't really interested in getting anything for free instead all we wanted was regard from the working personnel as to what was happening. The waitress was very kind and nice but the hostess are awful and rude. When you go to these type of restaurants you expect a certain amount of kindness from the people working there. All I have to say is Zuma never again. What a disappointment.

I requested seating in the main dining room and was told they were all reserved (80% empty) which made no sense. The food was great, as always at Zuma. Great variety of buffet items, constantly being replenished. We had to wait well over 1/2 hour for dessert to come to our table, so service was lack-luster at best. 18% gratuity added for buffet lunch-doesn't make sense. David, our server, was attentive, friendly and helpful - without hovering. He made excellent cocktail suggestions, and also alerted me - the one who isn't into overly spicy - which dishes to dive into delicately. We enjoyed the premium tasting menu and it was divine! Lobster, carpaccio, scallops, watercress salad, sea bass, wagyu beef, mushroom truffle rice made table side, miso with lobster, sashimi...and an amazing, decadent dessert presentation that was astounding! It was divine. The staff was wonderful. Even when David did not present our next course, the server who did was great to explain the nuances of each component. I can't say enough great things about our meal. There was no course that made us say 'eh...that could have been done better.' They don't know miami 'locals ' everything has to be right were fussy why because there's plenty to chose from. Parking a problem waiting 1/2 hour for valet not a convenience .

Not kid friendly at all! No kids menu. If you want to enjoy a great family night this is not the place to go. All of their dishes that they call dinners are served as if it's an appetizer. If you enjoy drinking and eating over priced appetizers then this is the place for you. Don't go here expecting to get full off your meal. Make sure you eat somewhere else first. Went there for a birthday and unlike other high end restaurants, they didn't do anything special and they were told when I made reservations what the occasion was.

We went to Zuma's for my wife's birthday with our kids. It was duch a great experience, the service, the food. Definetely 5 star experience. Very happy with the choice of entrees.

Food was great - very Miami/NYC/LA type scene. Waiter seemed in a hurry to move us along.

We asked for four different appetizers (party of four), two of them came first, then the entree (Swordfish) as recommended by our waiter, and fish was bland and cold; after we finish eating the entrée; another appetizer came (a salad) and finally another appetizer (chicken wings) with the dessert. I was informed that chicken wing were 6 per order, they only came 4 of them. \nBEWARE….We were also charged $27 for three bottles of water that we did not request. Waiter offered water and then started pouring from bottles without informing us of the charges. We never requested bottled water.

Make sure you make reservations, as they get packed quickly, even during lunch. Despite the reservations, it was a few minutes before we were seated. The music was very loud and it made it hard to have a conversation. Still, the service was good (though it was a bit difficult to get a hold of our waitress with all the movement going on). The food was great, with the exception of one of the desserts. I particularly loved the vegetarian donburi!

Zuma is definitely the top restaurant in the 305. The food is amazing, the ambiance is beautiful and vibrant, the location is perfect. Ended up eating their 2 nights in a row because I couldn't get enough. The Chefs Special Tasting Menu is a MUST for any Foodie. The torched Salmon belly is too die for.

Without a doubt some of the best food in Miami; every dish is a pleasant surprise and memorable--both taste and presentation. If you haven't gone--go. But do keep in mind that it is a 'higher energy' experience with music and active bar scene. We can't wait to return.

I have been to Zuma probably a dozen times and I must say it is probably the best restaurant in Miami. Certainly the best brunch in Miami. If you can only go once, do the brunch for maximum variety.

The best sushi in my life! For lunch is not that expensive..they have a special lunch menu that is perfect! The only negative thing was that when i reserved i specified that was my sister's bday and I'd like a special dessert...they didn't consider my request, so no special dessert! :( however, the place is beautiful and the food amazing!!!

This was probably my 8th visit in the past 2 years. This time I found staff rather distructed, especially at the entrance. There were about 8 girls on the front desk and non seem to care that we had a 6month old with us. Although our food was good I found overall ambiance and dinning expirince average.

I paid to reward incompetent servers with an obligatory 18% gratuity for pitiful service. The waiter gave me a water bath and the manager did not come to apologize. With a total lack of professional courtesy. Lousy service and pretentious manager. It was necessary to go to my hotel room to change all clothes. Even complaining to the manager he did nothing. and was charged to the account that is not deserved tip. A shame. What annoyed me most was paying obligatory tip for bad service! I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant that qualifies as deluxe. If you look on the internet reviews of this restaurant you will find many people complaining about the pretentious and bad service at this restaurant. Avoid it!

I think it's a problem of culture of countries.\nwe travel with my wife and traveled around the world and we always say that in the US people in restaurants speak with a very loud tone . In other countries we also occurs , of course, but it's funny to see happen in your country.\nalso facilitates local noise dimensions . The main dining room is very large and without many gaps between the tables.
