Esay to find hotel great staff good service and good food, a good size car park, will use again
I chose this hotel to be near to relatives we were visiting. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant first class. The proprietor was helpful in every respect and I look forward to further visits in the future. A happy experience.
Staff were all very young, the restaurant was very busy (a lot of non-resident diners, which suggests it has a good rep) and it was all a bit chaotic. However, they were all very friendly and very helpful. Our meal was perfectly edible, but unmemorable - perhaps because we were the last to be served that night and the chef had peaked earlier in the evening.... When we arrived, 8pm ish, all hot water had been used up - what came out of the taps was tepid (we did not complain as staff were all very busy in the popular restaurant of the hotel). The shower cubicle door was positioned so close to the bathroom door, and opened in such a way that it was a challenge getting in and out, especially for my husband who is tall and broad-shouldered!
Thestaff were great, The owner was great fun and made the stay really enjoyable.Food to die for all freshly cooked to order, rooms lovely and clean and comfortable. If you get the chance go and find out how great it is for yourselves. None
The staff were very informal
A fabulous place and I would definately stay there again - just for the delicious cooked breakfast!!
Faulty towers without the faults brilliant. We loved the ski lodge room. Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and welcoming would go again
Rowena's desire to please.
Very clean, warm room, shower good, bed large and comfortable, food and service excellant. Good parking facilities. None.
Hotel very modern clean comfortable and ease of access from M6. The sausages at breakfast were overcooked and had a herb flavour simple well cooked sausages.
New Hotel so in great condition, on arrival the lift was out of order but I was offered to have my bags taken upstairs. Room Service was great and varied choice. No bad points
Clean modern surroundings. The room was strangely warm, despite the heating not being on. Despite a storm going on outside, I had to open the window to make the temperature bearable. Something you don't expect at this time of the year. Also, for a new hotel, there were several aspects which were already needing maintenance such as paint peeling off the bathroom door frame and yellowing of the grout on the tiles in the shower.
Very Convenient - good location - good parking - nice room - Good food !
Lovely bathroom, super shower Good breakfast Pleasant temperature in bedroom Would have preferred a King-size bed, but bed comfortable
The staff were very attentive and the standard of the golf course. The decor of the communal areas was a little dated, but clean and tidy enough.
the location was great with lovely surroundings and good facilities. Food was good, was was clean Had service charge added to the bill. There are so many rooms its like a rabbit warren, kept getting lost, very poor signage & lack . The price of drinks in the bar is extortianate
The staff were very helpful, parking is easy and breakfast selection is very good and tasteful The dining room service was poor and there did not seem to be a system in the bar, sign for charging to room but also swipe credit card, cleaned the pipes in the bar and then the beer was not available for 24 hours.
The hotel staff were very proffessional in their approach, customer care was outstanding. Trying to find the hotel was very difficult. Using a sat nav was no help. Improved signage would be a great benefit.
Visiting friends in the local area There was no air conditioning in the room which is unaaceptable for a 4 star hotel. The food served in the buffet breakfast on the saturday was burnt which is unaaceptable for any hotel. The staff were not friendly at all - they did not ask if we enjoyed our stay and concierge staff just watched as we strayggled with our bags to the front door. These comments were based on just stopping in the hotel to sleep and have brekfast - i'd imagine that our experience of the other facilities may not score very highly either.
Restaurant and Leisure facilities Receptionists were very unwelcoming on arrival, very ungreatfull on leaving. Would suit Doctors practice!!
The location of the hotel set in open countryside surroundings was relaxing
Grounds, facilities, location Could have done with a bigger room, better pillows, other eating facilities to be open longer at night as everywhere shut by 9pm except the restaurant and room service shut by 10pm.
Very comfortable bed, friendly & courteous staff. Dinner was served without the stated side dish. Hostess said this would be looked at, but no feedback to me at any stage. Restaurant very overpriced for quality. Could not get VPN access via "free" ethernet.
Pool and leisure facilities, pool bar, environmental setting, numerous steps and various levels to access accommodaqtion in the wings - noise from accommodating a large 'footbal type crew' in their 'initimate dining room', very noisy and disturbing (chants during meals are not on0 lacked management discretion - some diners asked to be moved to a quieter location; lacked a feminine touch - more of a gentlemans club than a 4* hotel
Very friendly staff. Lovely welcoming hotel with relaxing atmosphere. The only thing I would say is the mattresss in the room was to soft I seemed to roll into the centre as my partner was heavier.
Had a most enjoyable lunch with friends. We all 3 chose different meals which were all served at the same time. I stayed on alone and found the staff very helpful and friendly While we were dining the bar was rather noisy. I don,t think the bar staff were aware how much noise it made when dropping empty bottles into container.
Manager and staff very friendly and helpful. Good quality breakfast. Shower screen in bathroom did not fit tightly enough to stop water leaking onto floor
doesnt live up to its 5 star rating. Very overpriced accomodation for an inn - booking in took place in the bar and girl had trouble find our reservation, which had only been made the day before. Have definately stayed in better places for alot less money room and having spoken to another guest and saw their executive room, we then complained and were moved another room, which was executive and what we had booked in the first place check in and location
Friendly, welcoming staff with sense of humour. Good knowledge of local area and events. None
Excellent bar, restaurant, room. Staff very helpful, friendly and attentive Mix up with key coding delayed check in which was a minor annoyance
Great Hotel, wonderful, friendly and accommodating staff. Very high standard all over the hotel from the rooms to the service.
The rooms are decorated superbly, with rich materials and colours. The facilities in the room are fantastic. The service is 'sopt-on' and the food is divine. The reception area is not clearly defined from the bar area. Another couple had access to our room - fortunately, whilst we were in the room.
Excellent room, over a very special pub. Food was excellent and a fine selection on wines and beers. None whatsoever
Very comfortable room with lots of space and good views. Quiet location of hotel made it easy to relax. Obviously busy in bar and restaurant on Saturday evening confirming confidence in hotel. Toiletries not renewed after first night.
Wonderful Jacobean building - though the room we stayed in was in the modern extension. Room large, well-equipped and comfortable.
A friend recommended this hotel to me. It is close to Crewe train station, about 5 minutes drive. beautiful landscape and ancient castle.
Atmosphere, friendly staff
politness of the staff Waiting for the lift, and the light never lit until lift was on its way, no stairs from 1st floor, espsecaily waiting for the lift. Noise of the raditaors in the room. Internet should be free, most hotels are these days. Lack of signs to brassire
We stayed for a Wedding and found the Hall to be steeped in history, loved the old features of the place especially the fireplaces. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Food excellent, accommodation was excellent and we enjoyed every moment. Nothing at all to dislike.
Beautiful building, friendly staff and excellent facilities including super breakfast. Bedroom carpet stained and shower leaked onto bathroom floor however I reported this on the maintenance card in my room. I did feel the restaurant prices were a little high with little in the way of a snack or supper menu as a cheaper option.
Excellent service. Lovely room in old part of hotel- the Hall. Afternoon tea very enjoyable in sumptuous lounge. Evening meals expensive. Breakfast average. 'Cooked' breakfast luke warm.
The setting and atmosphere. No Leisure Facilities
poor experience - only redeeming feature was the quality of the breakfast. Otherwise didnt like much Service was extremely poor. Unfriendly staff - no offers of assistance. Things faulty in the room - tv and phone. Room service food was over priced and dreadful. Cold congealed chees on toast. I have written a longer review at tripadvisor.
Very clean, comfortable beds, excellent food and service.
Very comfortable, spacious and quality fixtures and fittings. It was day 2 of opening and whilst the staff were very welcoming and entusiastic there were clear training needs. The side of the bath seemed a bit high, o.k. for me but older or infirm people will find it a bit awkward stepping into the shower / bath.
staff creaky floorbards
restaurant fully booked so had to eat in the brasserie, breakfast poor selection and quality, have written letter of complaint to hotel
the whole experience was great. the food was excellent
It was a lovely hotel. We didn't spend a great deal of time there - but the staff were delightful and the hotel itself was gorgeous.
Very good and friendly staff Housekeping and breakfast extremely poor
Comfortable and relaxing
The extremely helpful staff who were only too willing to go the extra mile for your comfort and well being
excellent service esp restaurant staff
cant pick one individualy, it was all very good. No, it was a very enjoyable stay.
Pleasant and efficient welcome. Receptionist took us to our room and confirmed reservation details and extended the leaving time by 1 hr. The spa is separate to the main building so we had to venture out in the freezing cold to get to the spa.
Central to travel routes, good parking Bar prices were pretty steep, 2 double vodka's a can of redbull & an archers and lemonade - £17 plus! Defeats the object of looking for a cheaper rate on the internet with such high bar/meal prices. Though the staff were extremely friendly and happy to help.
Need good decoration upstairs where are the bedrooms.
The re-furbished areas are good The non-refurbished areas less so but efforts were made to explain and the price was fair
Easily accessible from the M1
lovely room and beautiful hotel
Availability at a time of high demand and proximity to airport The room was in the middle of being re-decorated, smelled of paint, window was open to try and clear fumes and room had been pressed back into service to take advantage of high demand
friendly helpful receptionist Lift had been broken for a week and still not repaired - we were on the 3rd floor - fortunately we were only staying one night as we were in Hale for a wedding. There was no parking on site. Street parking was payable from 8.00am.
Quiet rooms with comfortable beds The local car park details in the hotel were out of date and dispite their bochure saying every room had a trouser press I could not find one in room 116
good allround, simple rooms, everything worked and was clean + near the rail station. one staff member was very irritated when i asked for a receipt after paying cash for an extra night and no internet access afterall, (although local library was geat for that!)
Great location and excellent value for money. Really nice breakfast and nice touch with the complimentary bottle of wine. Overall making for a very positive experience. Room was not as clean as it might be. Not a problem that the amenities were only basic, but carpet and beds looked like well overdue for replacement.
The facilities were poor, needs updating Decor and poor quality food, ate out
My original room was dirty, overheated with stained marked furniture, but the v.v.hot pipes made it impossible to sit, never mind sleep in. The receptionist on duty was v.helpful and managed to get me another room, still hot, but because it had more air coming in I could sleep. The heat from the pipes running through the room was at a dangerous level. I would not have taken a child into those rooms. I had to sleep with only the duvet cover, no duvet. This wasn't during a spell of hot weather!
The location. having a beer outside in the sunshine during Happy Hour. Would benefit from revamped bathroom. Better information passing to night staff.(request for early breakfast was not relayed) This happenened during our last stay also.
The service was very good and an excellent buffet breakfast was available. The location was also very convenient. It would have been better if there was a private hotel for customers as we had to park in the supermarket car park and there did seem to be a problem with gangs in the vacinity of the hotel. I think this was because it was a Friday night. We have previously visited on a sunday and it was very quiet.
The spa facilities were accessible and we were encouraged to use them The room was a long way from the reception and the corridors are difficult to navigate , signage could be improved.
The food The internet service was expensive and difficult - you should offer something which can be used for more than 24 hours
Room was large and well decorated, the bed was comfy and the hotel quiet Some other guests were noisy when going to their rooms late at night
the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent quite a long walk to the room
Peaceful surroundings, and delightful grounds. Bar prices extremely high.
Convenience, I arrived too late and left too early to enjoy any of the facilities but what I did see looked impressive. Bed matress was too soft and springy - I didnt get a lot of sleep. Shower was pathetic. I was in a room next to a store cupboard and I found it rather noisy first thing in the morning.
clean, tidy, great staff, friendly beer expensive when paying £95 a room
very friendly staff, room was clean, the setting of the hotel is beautiful I used the gym and was surprised not to find desinfectant available and therefore people not cleaning their machines after utilisation. The room was very warm because the window only opens a couple of inches, which would get worse during warmer periods of the year
We enjoyed the excellent food and the staff we were in contact with around the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. There is nowhere to answer in question 3 the fact that we were travelling as mother and daughter. ( This is not a complaint, just an observation ).
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and very comfortable and the selection of food at breakfast was good. in the double room that we had there was only only one tea cup between two of us
Staff friendly, food good, location excellent. We had to change our room twice due to poor location and heating not working,The restraunt had brown formica tables that made the room resemble a cafeteria, when we asked for steak knives to eat our steaks we were told there were not any.definately not a four star hotel.
We liked the location and the grounds of the hotel.
Beautiful building and setting. Stunning main staircase with dome above. It was a shame the steam room was out of order.
Newly refurb'd and very comfortable. Well equipped room Made the mistake of parking at the rear of the hotel as signposts not so clear. A long walk in the dark with bags - I will know for next time
Meals were fantastic, hotel and staff in top shape. Just sorry I couldn't stay another day and walk the exquisite grounds. Well done all!
Surrounding countryside In need of a re-furb and certainly not worth the money
close to shops. Good food. Reasonable price. Lovely ambience with all Christmas decorations well appointed and decorated bedroom. Too dark as lighting insufficient. I had to take my bag into the bathroom to find my dress! Main problem was the distance from reception/dining room. Nigh on impossible for an elderly or infim person.
stunning location curled up bar sandwiches which were sent back. alot of stair and the corridors are like rabbit warrens, difficulty finding our room as it was in a new block with no lift access there until you got to the new block. Not good if you had poor mobility
Friendly helpful staff, beautiful location with stunning views and a wonderful entrance hall. A very poor sandwich served in the evening, and a long trek from recepetion to room.
location and facilities Unable to book in at 14.00hrs as stated. I had a meeting to attend in Manchester late afternnon and so was unable to shower and change. Ended up changing in my car in a lay bye.
The room was very large and the furnishings lovely. The bathroom was also very spacious with excellent bath and shower facilities. Although unable to confirm an early check in until we arrived, the room was ready an hour early. The breakfast area was in a lovely room but the tables and chairs should be of a design more fitting to the style of the hotel and laid out better. More staff were needed in the bar in the afternoon, particularly as a wedding was taking place and all the guests entered at once. It was very difficult to get served.
Good ambiance, good Spa facilities, very helpful staff, beautiful floral decorations, well maintained, modern, very clean and fresh. Could offer shuttle service into Knutsford for guests, or to Tatton Park for the Show. Renew daily bathroom toiletries and include body lotion or moisturiser, renew Tea/coffee supplies daily.
Very pleasant and helpful staff throughout the hotel and quiet room that was requested was allocated even during a very busy period. Excellent rooms and leisure facilities. Bacon at breakfast was undercooked.
Offers a great location next to knutsford, which has great resturants, wine bars, shops and walks. Great to come back and relax in the spa. I think the breakfast is a little expensive.
A lovely 4 star spa hotel which could easily be a 5 star. Lovely surroundings and hotel itself had lots of cosy places. Possible upgrade on bathroom but like any hotel they are used so often that it is not always possible to keep spending the money.
Friendly atmosphere, good quality breakfast with a vast choice of food Did not appreciate the spa being open to non residents and also did not appreciate the problems with payment following our stay. Your hotel have debited my bank account twice, which had i not been vigilent with my account may have gone unnoticed.
Friendly staff and good service
Pool was nice, although jacuzzis not working. Bar staff were efficient and friendly. 11am check out was good. Jacuzziz not working was disappointing. When we enquired about booking a cab to go to Tatton Park for the evening I was surprised to be given a list of numbers to try. I would expect a 4 star hotel to automatically call one for you. Bar prices were expensive.
The Spa was lovely and staff were very helpful. Only one set of towels was provided in the room despite having booked a double!
When i payed my bill i was overcharged the lady in the reception was unable to give me a refund .I had to go to see the reception the next day for my refund .Staff need training on how to deal with customers problems
Rooms where really nice, staff vey helpful. No aircon
Very friendly staff Old fashioned rooms, small bathrooms
Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment - inside and out.
relaxed atmosphere The hotel & facilities are getting tired - worn carpets, shabby gymn, etc.
1 night was not long enough to say
Convenient location in need of a makeover
Rooms were nice and in the evenings we more or less had the pool, jacuzzi and saunas to ourselves Queues at the reception which, with only one person there, you couldn't avoid even if it was just to get a second room key.
Good and pleasant location over the last 20 years have stayed at the Belfry many times but not so many recently as I did not need a room in a hotel in the area I was in room 411 which is a good room - but to get to it the lift one uses is an antique - if one does not properly shut the inner gate, then it works for no one. The stripy black & white carpet on the 4th floor is not pleasant to look at. The passageway from reception to the lift is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere. It is narrow and one winds around quite a bit.
The food in the restaurant was of a pretty good standard and the breakfast had a good selection. The room was of a poor quality and looked extremely tired with stains on the carpets. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and gave me backache. There was peeling wallpaper in the public areas and a bucket in the hall way collecting dripping water. This does not warrant 3 stars.
Room was small but adequate. It was very noisey.
Very friendly staff, very quiet & free Internet!!
Clean friendly staff Room small. Not that good value at £35 a night without breakfast. This is why the following week I will be staying at another hotel very near at £30 a night with breakfast.
Convenient location, comfortable None
Very cheap. Clean. Friendly helpful staff. Quiet. Breakfast cheap (£5) for a decent freshly cooked english breakfast. Very easy access from Crewe railway station (perfect for my needs). No shampoo etc in bathroom. Restaurant not open all week for evening meals if required. No room service.
excellent location, clean and tidy room rushed breakfast clearing plates, more milk required in room ,biscuit would of been nice
Staff although under pressure of sunday lunch were very good indeed Mattress needs updating, woke up at 4am could'nt get back to sleep because of mattress but the room was good and most of all very clean thanks
staff very pleasant and helpful, breakfast good value. the shower had nowhere to put soap/gel or bath mat to stand o n when getting out
It was surprisingly up-to-date, clean, quiet, comfortable & warm for a "budget" hotel, with very friendly staff.
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts very good, very friendly cook. Only area of negative comment, a barman in the public house seemed to be unable to raise a smile, appeared pretty unhappy in his job.
Pleasant quiet room A little slow booking in as receptionist had gone elsewhere
Very clean and comfortable room, plenty of tea and coffee available. Music a bit loud in pub next door.
the proximty to where i wanted to be & the great value for money
Good value for money. Pub menu varied and food of good quality, so we were happy to eat on site.
Good English breakfast, well equipped and spacious room. Member of staff being dismissed at breakfast, poor continental breakfast.
Quiet, comfortable & clean room. Separate from bar. Delicious bar food! Very helpful staff.
The most reeming factor of this hotel is the location. It is sufficiently close to Manchester airport wthout all the hustle & bustle. Accomodation was not very warm until the thermostat was located behind a chair. The restaurant was cold and the breakfast was not very inspiring. The evening meal was a disastor resulting in eating in the local balti house, which incidently was excellent.
It was absolutely chocolate box meets, four weddings and a funeral and the sumptuous luxury of the mini break in bridget jones' diary. The proximity to London Roads vibrant and cosmopolitan night life more than makes up for any absent room service.
The main thing about staying here is it is "different". It feels special and is a treat versus the usual nice hotel! Not really, although it has to be said that the rooms are quite small and cottage-like. The photographs give the impression of a much more spacious layout.
Lovely property - great if you are looking for something a bit different to a hotel. Fabulous location and very relaxing - highly recommended
the cottage was amazing. Totally unique experience, will definitely come back and will tell friends about it. Clean and warm with lots of interesting thingsto look at .
everything was absolutly amazing and we wil definately be going back at some point. We wish we could live there permamently. Thank you very much!!
Had a wonderful time at Wizard's Thatch. The suite was charming. Will stay longer next time.
a wonderful hideaway in Alderley Edge, but within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping in the surrounding area. The suite was simply beautiful and the owner (Ian) could not have been more helpful Will be booking again.
The uniqueness of the property and excellent service were both a refreshing change and a great experience.
Spotless, more than one room, fresh flowers, comfortable bed, good tv Not a hotel but self catering rooms ina not a hotel but self catering accommodation in a pprivate house,no staff,no breakfast served, strong unpleasant smell, clutter, needs extra bedside table, poor parking facilities
Wonderful rooms with four poster beds in beautifully restored country house. Well designed luxury room and bathroom. Thoughtful touches - decanter with port in the room, nice selection for hot drinks, selection of dvds provided by the owners, complimentary wine won arrival. The host was friendly but unobtrusive and made us feel comfortable and well looked after. We were upgraded to the King Charles II room and it was fantastic, perfect for a romantic getaway.
This was an amazing place to stay. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the home and is eager to introduce guests to all aspects of the hotel. There were no negative spects to our stay at all, except the taxi service we had to take us to a nearby restaurant, sent a driver who had no knowledge of the area at all.
Fabulous atmosphere and amazing decoration. Unbelievably friendly service and the welcome decanter of sherry is such a stylish touch. Just great. Not a thing
