The excellent breakfasts and the friendliness of the staff during the serving. The room was very small for a couple. In the bathroom, the shower head dripped continuously (the only way we could rectifly this was to place the shower head in the bath. The extractor in the bathroom ran much too long, especially if the toilet was used during the night.
amazing room, Wicked breakfast-no hassles
I came acros the hotel on line and had no idea what to expect. It was a real treasure of a find. Great location, great staff and great food. I would definiltey recommend to others and use it myself again.
lovely position, staff were very helpful and friendly and breakfast and dinner had alot of choices. Fantastic shower. Partner complained about the noise of the plumbing.
good food good service convenient location warm and friendly as always stayed here a few times before no complaints exellant not enough tea /coffee etc. but requested more with no problems
The location of the Antelope is excellent. The room was small but comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the breakfast and service was very good too.
the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff plus the ideal location
Comfortable stay with helpful staff.
The hotel was very comfortable and has friendly helpful staff. The overflow in the bath was not connected to a waste pipe so poured straight onto the bathroom floor. Also the hotel had recently been repainted internally but the painter did not think to take the name plates of doors so they had splashes of paint on them and just looked sloppy. It would have been nice to have an option for a veggie breakfast on the menu. It's very easy to keep a box of vegi sausages in the freezer and please us non meat eaters.
Fabulous bathroom and extremely welcoming staff
If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
location The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details. The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful. No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner. No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old. Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs. Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
Relaxing and very central for shopping. NA
Service, food, location, surroundings
Very convenient location, right on the seafront. Nice rooms and the whole hotel was pleasantly decorated. Staff were not particularly friendly.
good service from breakfast and resturant staff en suite is tired needs attention to bath panel, shower head and bath felt dirty. room lights were so dim i felt like buying a torch.
Good all round hotel. although Dog friendly (we took ours), there was no evidence of previous doggy residents... cleanliness was v.good although hotel is obviously well used
It is close to ringwood where we have friends everything was satisfactory for us
The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem to them at all. no complaints whwt so ever and the bed i sleep in was very comfortable indeed.
Very convenient for thew purpose of my visit. I will stay again
It was comfortable and easy to find.
Ideally situated for visiting family in Ferndown Very tatty appearance inside, especially corridors and room. General feeling of lack of cleanliness. Old TV with only four channels and the remote didn't work well. The shower curtain was too short and kept clinging to me n the shower (urgh!).
Staff excellent, food excellent. Room good, what was even better was that they accepted our dog. Would have preferred ground floor room, unfortunately we were above the function room with a party that went on until 12am.with loud music. Would definately stay there again
Breakfast, comfortable bed, attractive surroundings Lack of staff on reception. Room not ready on arrival.
Very quiet though a little far out of the town therefor a car is essential We did not eat there other than breakfast but the diners we saw on our return seemed tobe well cared for Roomalittlesmall so there was no room for extra chairs
if you love your food then this is the place to stay fine dining at it's best noise from other parts of the restaurant were heard in our room.
Very good contnental breakfast There was no hot water in the room at 3.30pm. When I mentioned it later, suggestion was we should have rung down and they would have switched it on! Also, the steam shower didn't work and we had to ask for biscuits promised on our arrival. Staff didn't seem to particularly care when we pointed each of these things out
I was told the hotel remains open in the night and I could return any time. I returned at 3 am and found the entrance locked from inside. The owner had to wake up and was not happy about it. I had specifically asked about opening in the night and did not appreciate a stranger expressing displeasure at my late return. I was there for a printing job that ran late in the night, the only reason to book a hotel there instead of returning home to London.
Peaceful, comfortable and excellent food and service.
Helpful staff, good food, clean and comfortable room
Lovely hotel/restaurant in very good taste and beautiful surroundings. Our room was very small, elegant bathroom.
Room was very clean and bed comfortable. There was nothing to dislike.
Clean hotel Size of room.
The room had recently been refurbished so was in excellent condition, the staff were extremely helpful and breakfast was delicious.
Good food and friendly staff Exterior very tired.
they were very helpful and rebooked are rooms for us
Clean,comfy and very friendly Nothing
The bar area was lovely and my wife and I enjoyed relaxing with a drink whilst admiring the view of the sea The lack of Sky Sports in the bar. We had to go elsewhere to watch the football
The staff in the hotel were so friendly and helpful and the view from our room was to die for! The breakfasts were very good too. The room could do with a lick of paint and all the floorboards were very creaky, but it was clean and warm and the view made up for everything.
We got an excellent price for this hotel and were very pleased. Very friendly, attentive staff - never 'in your face' but always on hand, nice welcoming bar area. Room very comfortable.
very warm friendly hotel a great location with lovely sea views.food and drink good, rooms very good lift to upper floors too small
My partner and I had a meal in the bar in the evening and it was fantastic, I would recommend the lamb shank followed by sticky toffee pudding, the taste and presentation was something else. If I had to give it a rating then it would be 10/10. The rooms are well laid out with even alarm clock as well as the normal tea/coffee stuff and TV. The beds are like home from home.
Everyone was very friendly, the rooms were of a very good standard and the food was amazing value for money. We really enoyed our stay here. From the outside the hotel looks nothing, but you can not fault service and rooms, although the bar could do with modernising a bit. Would definitely stay again. thanks.
easy walking distance to the centre of town and the BIC
Clean tidy and friendly
Friendly and efficient staff
very clean @very friendly hotel ,i would certainly go back again
Excellent Service and great manager!! We had booked a large family room for 6 people, but were upgraded to 2 large separate rooms for the same price! English breakfast was lovely and the service was excellent!!! The manager was also very helpful, kind and informative! Great place and very central location :-)
Very clean, comfortable and friendly, breakfast excellant. Bed and pillows abit hard!
Very nice stay, nice little bar & a good location for the town center, theatres and bars etc.
The friendliness of the welcome
a very good room and a good breakfast
location room dirty small bathroom particularly bad
very nice old building hotel prices for b&b standard.
The Location was superb being close to the town centre and the cathederal but not in it. too many stairs for an oldie
More of a country inn than an hotel which suited us perfectly. Cosy, good beer, good food, good atmosphere, waking to beautiful sunrises over the mill race and river. The weather was very cold and the resaurant, with hardly anyone in it, could have been warmer. Dinner served on cold plates.
setting room was below expectation and could benefit from more attractive make over - bathroom fittings old
I liked the atmosphere I did not like the fact that it was gone 2.30 before we could get any sleep due to the noise in the bar and people coming up to their rooms really late next time if there were not any rooms on the top floor i would have to go to another hotel.
The view from the window - very picturesque the noise from people leaving the bear fest - we didn't realise when we booked that there was one going on.People were still outside our window calling a cab at gone 2.am. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. 45mins for a cold hardboild poached egg !!
