Pros: A very pleasant period type hotel with old world charm. The owner was very good to deal with and very helpful seeing that I am disabled. I have to say the bed was extremely comfortable and I managed two good nights sleep.
Cons: Parking is extremely limited but in a historic city like Verdun that's quite understandable. When I first booked and said I am a wheelchair user, the hotel immediately contacted me to say they had no disabled facilities, however I chose to put up with the little inconvenience and managed well with the assistance of my sons.

When it was time to leave the owner helped me locate my bus stop and was even kind enough to keep me company as I waited. I have nothing but great things to stay about La Dragee Hote and the family that operates it. Thank you for a great stay!!!

Pros: We loved discovering the French countryside of Foameix, and Au Bois De Mon Coeur is a wonderful little place to stay with all the comforts and tastes that you could expect. It was like a homestay, and manager Olivier Arrondelle and his lovely family made us feel right at home. The breakfast was wonderful, as was the farm, and the small town with its church. Splendid!

Pros: The room was absolutely okay and the price/value is excellent. If you want to visible Verdun city or the Verdun battle field, the location is almost perfect - its only some 10 minute away from the battle field. The owners are both very friendly and accommodating. The whole accommodation is very fimiliar and with shared area. The breakfast is absolutely fanstasic and it is really huge which home-make honey and home-made jam, never had that before in a hotel.
Cons: The breakfast coffee could be a bit stronger, but this is very subjectively.....

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My boyfriend and me were searching for a room in verdun and booked this one. We didn't expected it to be that perfect. It's comfy, hygienic and central. We always found a parking lot and we're able to visit most things by foot. For anyone who wants to have a cheap but absolutely nice stay can be certain that booking this room is a great opinion. (and not to forget... The landlady is absolutely lovely! ❤️ I would definitely come back here! )
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We came as a family of five (two adults and three children ages 8-13). It has a charming character and quaint homey feel reminiscent of visiting distant relatives. Private bath for one bedroom and shared bathroom for the other two rooms were more than adequate and very clean. Knowledge of French would be helpful; however, we got along fine knowing only basic greetings and vocabulary. The hosts also provided a delicious and enjoyable French breakfast for a nominal extra charge which was a good value.
Cons: Nothing negative comes to mind.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A well situated b and b in verdun. This is not a high end luxury stay but just what we wanted. Very good price, were very helpful allowing us to park a trailer in their garage (at minimal cost). Standard french breakfast - croissant, bread, home made jams, yoghurt, tea and coffee etc. Rooms accessed by stairway. Owner sends a message reiterating there is no A/C and stairs to negotiate. For an overnight or short stay where you just need a clean bed and bathroom this is the place.
Cons: Nothing not to like. You get what you pay for with a helpful smile from the owner.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was lovely, French breakfast, fresh and homemade jams. The breakfast room was so beautiful and filled with homely charm, and had a plant filled balcony overlooking the garden.
Cons: I would have loved a mirror in the bedroom so that you didn't have to occupy the bathroom to put your makeup on. That's the only request I have.

Pros: Amazing value for money and if you stay you MUST have the evening meal, it was outstanding and excellent value for money.
Cons: The bathroom was very small and it is right beside the clock tower which chimes all night
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Delicious home-cooked meals
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, very friendly towards the customers. The guests can use a community kitchen. Clean rooms.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was quiet and warm on the second floor. Simple furnishings and friendly hosts. Close to battlefields and contains many brochures about local sites.
Cons: The house is a little dark and the Wi-Fi spotty.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great little bed and breakfast in a very tranquil and historic area. We would encourage more Americans to stay here. Outstanding dinner prepared by our hosts.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, hosts were very friendly, nice little courtyard with tables and parasols, well equipped kitchen.
Cons: Room was very small and one of the beds was not really comfortable for an adult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean comfortable and well presented room. Very welcoming and warm B&B style place, incredible value for money. Francois and her husband put on an amazing 5 course dinner for us with a lovely bottle of rose as well as providing us with an excellent breakfast in the morning so we’ll worth both meals if you ask me. The area is very rural but just minutes away from Verdun and lots of cool places for sightseeing. We went and sat by the river which is immediately outside the property and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of rewilded Eurasian beavers so if that’s your kind of thing then this is definitely the place for you. After spending three weeks road tripping Europe this was the only place that was able to store our bikes in a garage which was a nice touch.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very convenient as a base to visit Verdun batterfield memories. The hosts are very nice, food is well prepared, we enjoined it. Last but not least the cost is ok for the services given.
Cons: Nothing at all. Of course the village itself is not very attractive, but you are not there for it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful. They were very friendly and attentive. The food they cooked for us was lovely. It was nice to stay in somebody's home and get an authentic experience rather than just stay in a corporate hotel. It enabled us to meet other french guests.
Cons: I have nothing to complain about. It was excellent value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The family was very friendly and the room was cozy. The dinner and breakfast were amazing! I definitely would recommend the place to everybody.

Pros: The friendly family atmosphere.Nearness to dining and shopping
Cons: Parking
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property was spacious and comfortable, and nicely quirky of character. Roman was welcoming and delightful, kind and thoughtful in approach, and prepared for us a wonderful breakfast in a glorious and tranquil outdoor patio setting. Roman also gave us a great restaurant recommendation - just right for what we had asked for.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, comfortable room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The 2-bedroom apartment was plenty of space for our family of 5. The host was very kind and helpful. The location is wonderful—short walk to many restaurants and tourist sights. We would definitely stay there again.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is great, we found nearby, free parking, Roman was very nice and helpful, garden is beautiful.
Cons: Bathroom down the hall ( but not shared) shower and sink in room. Internet works only downstairs, not in the room. House has a lot of interest and charm, but it’s dingy. The central hall needed painting decades ago.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant and accomodating host. Nice facilities and amenities, and a great location. Good-size flat screen TVs in the rooms, even a nice outdoor garden area for earing or relaxing. A very historic property as well. Stay comes with a very nice, complete and fresh continental sit-down breakfast every morning.
Cons: It could not have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Roman was wonderful. He couldn’t do enough to help. When we asked if we could borrow 2plates and knives and forks, he set up a table for us with napkins, water and everything we needed. Breakfast was a feast with much more than we could eat. The position of Maison de 1853 is fantastic. We were able to walk to all of Verdun’s attractions but a car is needed to visit the battlefields and Rememberance Meuseum which is a must.
Cons: Nothing, everything was as stated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The building and garden alone make it a perfect place for a weekend trip. Unfortunately didn't have enough time for breakfast in the garden, but would definitely come back here for a laid back break in Verdun.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome by the host, who nicely complied with all our requests and gave excellent advice about sightseeing and dining. Very large and picturesque room, large modern and very functional shower. Abundant fresh breakfast. Quiet relaxing environment, lush garden where we could take our dinner.
Cons: The loo at the bottom of the corridor is slightly inconvenient.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This place is unique. The building is an old mansion dating back 150+ years and has seen lots of different uses over time. It has high ceilings, huge rooms, a mosaic on the bottom floor, a huge garden, and a staircase fit for Scarlett O’Hara. The decor is artist meets antique dealer meets college dorm room. Our room was billed as the family room and it consisted of two huge rooms, 5 beds and an enormous bathroom. We showed up early, soaking wet from riding our bicycles in the rain, and the young man running the show apologized for not having the room ready (we were 4 hours early), unfolded an antique table, laid it with vintage china, poured us coffee to warm us up and then whisked upstairs to prepare our room(s). This is a place I will remember for the host’s passion for his (and his mom’s) home, for his welcome, and for the totally quirky room. It is also a short walk into downtown Verdun.

Pros: The relaxed atmosphere hosted by a most interesting and charming person. Nothing too much trouble. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a more unusual stopover or place to stay for a few days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Whow, what an experience! Lovely host, familiar atmosphere. Don't stay there if you are a lonely wolf that doesn't like culture ;-) Maybe your room will change when you arrive, but don't worry, all of them are an experience theirselves. Superb villa, nice garden, huge garage for bicycles. Dinner on request with good ingredients, therefore some Euros more.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The house is large with 2 floors, and really unique - full of musical instruments, pianos, organs, and other charming stuffs. The owner is a warm welcoming person and really friendly. She used to be a dancer and worked in theaters. Her beautiful photos of her lively past were all over the house. She's also a good cook and she cooked a delicious dinner for us and other 2 guests. We sat in her beautiful dining room around a large lovely decorated dining table, and she engaged all of us in a fun conversation. One of the best dinners we've had. Our bedroom was spacious and kind of rustic bohemian; it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great, and the dining room overlooked a lovely garden. I would love to return again, but perhaps staying on the ground or 1st floor.
Cons: There is nothing much we didn't like. However, our bedroom was located on the 2nd floor and getting up there was quite a challenge as we had to climb up a spiral wooden staircase. Finding the B&B took some time; need a bigger sign on the exterior.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gracious welcoming host, rooms were large with wonderful furnishings and high ceilings. Very quiet location.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well presented
Cons: Nothing it was fantastic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel proprietor Lisa did everything she could to make our stay great. The place was so authentic for a French country guesthouse. The decore was beautiful, with interesting artistic pieces throughout the house, and a magnificent music room filled with beautiful classic instruments. Every morning we were treated with a delicious breakfast prepared by Lisa, and every evening we were invited by Lisa to join her for wine and intriguing discussions late into the evening. The location is very near the WW1 historical sites, castles, and an easy drive to Belgium and Luxembourg.

7.0 Good
Pros: Good shower. Good mattresses. A/C. Great bread, croissants, jam, and coffee. Eggs and bacon needed more cooking. Lots of parking.
Cons: No elevator. Many steps to our room on the third floor (4th floor in U.S.). When we asked for a lower room because steps are a problem for me, we were told that there were no more rooms. We made our reservation months in advance, but were given a room on the tolp floor with sloped, low ceilings that we hit our heads on all the time. Make sure you specify that you need a room on a lower floor. Heavy comforters need to be replaced with lighter comforters in the summer. It was just too warm, even with the air conditioning (which was appreciated). No room in the bathroom to put anything.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location good for town
Cons: The entry system codes etc
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Complete breakfast for inexpensive price. Front desk staff very helpful.
Cons: No staff at front desk in the afternoon, so we couldn't check in when we first arrived. Doors locked, only open morning and evening. Not a big problem since we had a rental car and could return later. Also, no elevator, but we knew that in advance.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good parking and very clean.
Cons: No lift.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds.
Cons: More extra pillows in family room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is better than usual in France and very reasonably priced. The rooms are simple but clean and functional. If arriving by car the location is good with plenty of free parking. There is a McDonald's close by and some supermarkets within easy reach. The nearby Buffalo Grill is a good dining choice. The drive to the battlefields of Verdun takes just ten minutes.
Cons: The absence of a lift might dissuade some older guests. A small fridge in each room would be an improvement the hotel might consider. The biggest problem was that access to the hotel via a room code out of staff hours (afternoon and late evening) relies on a credit card the machine will accept and it rejected all four Australian credit cards we had. This meant killing time for an hour before staff came on duty in the late afternoon. Had this been a late evening arrival it would have been a real problem. The hotel needs to solve this problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for a budget stay when working in the area. Does what it says on the box basically.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Easy access to Verdun.
Cons: Stayed here for one night on our way down to the Alps. Room was not overly clean and the toilet had not been cleaned and still contained the hairs of previous guest who had obviously just shaved. Double bed had only one pillow. Difficult to check in as it was Sunday and they were shut until 5 so we were told to return later.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was satisfactory, but overpriced. Rooms are air conditioned.
Cons: No hair drier in the room. Available television channels were not as promised by the hotel.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: the continental breakfast on the first day was very nice But on the second day we had to share the same size breakfast with another couple , which was very inadequate . the view was nice in the back garden but not renovated . pallets of bricks.
Cons: wifi. only available for 1 hour in the evening and then turned off. had to ask several times to turn it on. breakfast.. a breakfast for 2 had to be shared by 4 adults on the 2nd morning . very poor. host was too occupied with her baby and young child to see her guests.. no communication regarding hotel facilities that we could use. we felt we were moving into a family home and not a guest house!, we could not sit out on an evening due to the family having they evening meal and no seating for guests we would not recommend staying here.

Cons: wifi could be faster and more reliable

Pros: Good breakfast.
Cons: Senon is rather out of the way, and there are no shops or restaurants in the village. The nearest place where we could eat was 9 kms away in Etain.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great authentic b&b and friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Evelyn is a lovely hostess. The house is beautiful and our room was immaculate. We would certainly stay again in we get back to this area.
Cons: Would like to have had a little better WiFi access. We understand that it cost to run it constantly but there were a couple of times that we really needed to do some internet work and communications but the wifi was turned off. Overall not a problem, it is just that WiFi access is one of the things we look for when traveling.

Pros: Very small town close to Verdun and the battlefield on the Meuse river. I loved the town and the countryside. It is so verdant in May. The proprietors were very nice and welcoming. We ate at the their restaurant and has a good meal. The hotel breakfast is very good and a good value. The breakfast person keeps the place in top notch order and cleanliness.
Cons: Check in is by a machine and did not work. It seems to best to call the hotel and talk with owner.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Nothing, it was excellent all round
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice and quiet with friendly and efficient staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ambiance
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I arrived on a Sunday so the front desk and restaurant were closed but the check in procedure was very easy even for someone like myself who only speaks English. I liked being 10 minutes away from the town of Verdun (which is lovely) and the restaurants and services and also very close to the historic monuments and forts that are abundant throughout this region. The hotel is located in a lovely little village and you need any services, Verdun is a short drive away.
Cons: I only wish I could have experienced the restaurant that is next door but my time was limited.

Pros: The staff are exceptional, No request will be ignored and mine was a tough one, but they sorted it out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay. The hotel has two locations and is situated within a tiny historic town. We stayed in the modern purpose built location just around the corner from the main hotel location. This was a short walk for our breakfast and evening meals. The modern purpose built accommodation had a wheel chair accessible room and a fantastic bathroom. The staff provided a Z bed so that my mate had the double bed in the wheelchair room, this was a good solution otherwise I had to have another room which doesn't work. The tiny town has a great historic church because in the past it had been a wealthy trading center. There is an incredible clock in the church. We had lovely breakfast and evening meals there. It was really nice and given the history near by I think it would make an excellent touring center, we stayed two nights. Places near by include:. Maginot line forts, an ancient citadel fort, a cold war airfield. Top tip - if you want to ride the train at the Maginot line forts make sure you arrive at the correct time - it is a great experience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was situated in a quiet, picturesque square next to a charming church. The lady hostess was very attentive and charming to myself and my guests. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: Myself and my guests booked to eat in the restaurant. We waited quite sometime before we were served a very fine meal.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: good restuarant on site and good breakfast. peaceful village
Cons: nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant available in hotel. We stayed in an annex which had being recently restored to a modern high standard.
Cons: The annex was 200m from the Auberge and the room, although very new, had many "snagging" faults that had not been rectified. The restaurant was the only eating establishment in town. The food was expensive for what we were given. €180 for dinner bed and breakfast for one night was more than other comparable hotels we had stopped in.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant had good food and an effort is made to make it presentable and interesting. The hotel is right off the main square in a lovely small town. Such a classic place that it's been used as a film-making location, including the BBC's recent Les Miserables. The proprietor showed off the guest book! I travelled with a dog and they were tolerant and helpful.
Cons: I stayed at the rooms in the other location. Perfectly nice but about 200m from the main hotel. It might bother some people.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: Staff does not speak English Bed sheets could be cleaner
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice old world village.
