10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice host. The B&B gives you the wow factor, beautifull bedroom. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast (charged) more than enough with a croissant and baquette, selfmade jam.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful historic house in a very convenient central location, a comfortable and spacious room, very friendly and helpful host, lovely breakfast with home made jams.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A delightful character filled B&B, beautifully presented in a superb location in a calm yet central location of this splendid city. Our helpful and enthusiastic host Jerome was the icing on the cake. I would thoroughly recommend this excellent establishment.
Cons: There was nothing I could fault!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the room, the staff (Jérôme), location, the breakfast. A small and very charming b&b! Au revoir! If possible, we'll be back!
Cons: We liked everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful renovated 400 year old house.Wonderful decorated.Clean and comfortable.Perfect host.Great location. We loved to be guests at this b and b.
Cons: Everything perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very beautiful B&B housed in a 17th century house, decorated with lots of love and attention. Jerome is a lovely host who does everything to make you feel at home. Our room was gorgeous, the mattress really good and the bathroom comfortable and complete. Highly recommended!
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jerome, the host, was faultless. He couldn’t do enough to help and even bought us a parking ticket when we had forgotten to do so. He also makes the most amazing jam and apple juice for breakfast. We had a lovely stay - our only regret was that we hadn’t booked for longer! It was also nice to chat to the other guests at breakfast - this hotel is amazing and has been the highlight of our holiday. Thank you for your welcome, Jerome!
Cons: The only thing that I could possibly criticise is that there wasn’t much storage available for clothes, but if you are only staying one night then it’s no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This B&B is a real gem in Auxerre! It is tucked away in a small street, but when you enter it is subtle grandeur. You are greeted generously by Jérôme and swept up a magnificent staircase to your room. Breakfast is on the main floor in a splendid room where coffee is freshly ground and is complemented by croissants, fresh baguette and 3 types of homemade jams, all beautifully arranged on the table. It all felt very luxurious and grand! It should be a well kept secret of a place, but I cannot rave enough about staying there.
Cons: I am absolutely in great admiration of this place and just loved the warm ambience. Finding parking was a bit difficult, but it is the case in every town in France. Jérôme was kind enough to send us prior to our arrival a map of Auxerre with all the possible parking areas, which ultimately was not an issue.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, interesting hosts in a 1911 house with many of the original features still intact (floor tiles, woodwork). Excellent breakfast. Very historic town centre with cute cobbled streets. Great restaurants close by.
Cons: We had the bedroom with the shower cabin inside the room. The shower is a little small, but indeed exactly as shown on the property photo. It is possible that the external private bathroom of the other room is larger (which could explain the slightly higher price of that room).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were extremely charming and hospitable. The rooms are spacious and clean and decorated with lovely items. The bed was superb and extremely comfortable. The breakfast was perfect. Lovely fresh juices and fruits. Croissants and fresh bread. Tasty jams. Excellent coffee and tea. Boiled eggs. Yogurt. Served in a lovely room overlooking the city views. So quiet and peaceful. Located centrally to visit the city sights and stroll the old town for shops and restaurants. Restaurants recommended for dinner. Directions given for exploring the sights. This home is lovely and full of old world charm. I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts and this accommodation receives my highest rating. I would be happy to return. We were made to feel at home and welcomed in every way.
Cons: No complaints at all. All our needs were met and exceeded.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location friendly helpful owners
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. The hosts were very friendly and so helpful. Their home is beautiful and very comfortable and clean.
Cons: The room we booked had the toilet behind a screen in the bedroom. This wasn't perfect however the hosts did offer us use of a toilet downstairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly The facility had secure parking within walking distance B&B was centrally located
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Paul and Valerie were superb hosts. They have decorated their home beautifully . Breakfast was excellent, delicious and attractively presented.
Cons: Only a screen around toilet in bedroom. Tree foliage obscured street name.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Le Nid is a small B&B in the center of Auxerre - great to explore the city on foot. We've had a beautyful painted room with a dressing room & 3 windows. Since bathroom & toilet were outside the room Le Nid provides dressing gowns :-)
Cons: It would be even more comfortable it bathroom and toilet would be accessible directly from the bedroom. And it would be helpful to have a sign with the name at the gate or the house. Both did not reduce the quality of our stay though!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Valerie and Paul are excellent hosts and the love Valerie put into renovating the house shows in every little detail. They are very knowledgeable about their property and the surrounding town and restaurants. They prepared a very nice french breakfast for us.

Pros: Lovely breakfast
Cons: Kept banging my head. Owner only spoke French so communication was difficult.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was delicious. Enjoyed restaurant recommended for dinner.
Cons: Couple filling in for owners did not speak English so communications were difficult. They were friendly and assisted us with hauling our bags to 2nd floor. Room was undesirable as it was in the attic with little room to standup; hence, you could not move around bedroom or bathroom without hitting your head. There was no place for luggage or to sit down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property.
Cons: Location, swimming pools, peaceful
Overview Reviews
Château de la Resle, in the renowned winemaking region of Burgundy, is an ivy-wrapped eco-luxury manor house with the charm and personality of a well-loved private home. The six chic rooms and suites are lovingly tended to by Dutchmen Johan Bouman and Pieter Franssens, who invite guests to share their personal collection of contemporary and abstract art. The château, which sits on the edge of an 800-hectare hunting forest, is just a short drive from famous wine villages such as Chablis. But with a spa, a pool, and two hectares of landscaped gardens to meander through, there’s really no need to leave. Guests are encouraged to make the most of the private Kundalini and Hatha yoga sessions; the restaurant, which uses local, organic, seasonal ingredients and offers a special “gourmet tray” dining experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Exceptional host, great home way from home
Cons: Nothing really, may be the accessibility as it’s a bit off the main road but that’s why it’s so quiet and serene
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great esthetics
Cons: No bar/restaurant (only in weekends)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms (especially suites) — are brilliant. Design, ergonomics, comfort on the highest level. Owners are very friendly and they make the atmosphere in their place incredible and unforgettable (but you can still enjoy your privacy as long as you wish). Thanks them for their passion. E-bikes will make your day through surroundings easier and hotel can provide you with this experience. Definitely place to come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our holiday spoil and it did not disappoint. Amazing property, in a remote location which was exactly what we were looking for. The property is close to Chablis so it made for easy exploring of vineyards. Rooms were spacious and well decorated. Lovely pool to cool off beside. If you’re into art, the owner has curated a vast collection which is on display throughout the Château. Johan and his team were incredible hosts. FYI - he cooks a dinner on Saturday nights if your travel dates align.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Harmony between ancient and modern and the style of the interiors. The owner and his staff were extremely helpful. The pool area is divine.
Cons: No lunch facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautifully designed. Stunning interior
Cons: Air con disappointing and spa not instant. Needs to be pre arranged
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to Motorway, but countryside
Cons: All good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well kept could not fault it and in the summer the outside is lovely
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, very comfortable, stylishly decorated. Friendly hosts. Very good breakfast. Convenient location for sightseeing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is at relatively short distance from Auxerre, if you wish to visit it. Owner can provide you with a list of restaurants in Auxerre and nearby villages. Breakfast was plentiful, including home-made products. Bedroom / bathroom were spacious, clean, comfortable. We did not use the swimming pool. Location is generally quiet and peaceful, more than welcome for a good night's sleep. Stairs may be squeaky, as this is an old castle, but it may be part of the charm of it.
Cons: It may be time to change / get new pillows, as they may be smelly for sharp-nosed visitors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, the Chateau was beautiful and the pool very welcome after a long drive. Our room was bright and airy with excellent facilities and the owners were very attentive.
Cons: Nothing at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property. Large room. Great swimming pool. Great breakfast.
Cons: No fan or AC in the room. Was very warm all night.
Overview Reviews
Located in Montigny-la-Resle, Chambre d'Hôtes Le Val Du Chapelain is within a 15-minute drive of Pontigny Abbey and Domaine Bernard Defaix. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, spacious rooms, friendly staff.
Cons: Quintessentially French. A beautiful little Hotel/B&B. We loved everything about this place, the staff and owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this accommodation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed and pillows were very very good. Excellent breakfast more than we had anticipated. Super restaurant recommended nearby.
Cons: Nothing to dislike, all good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place and friendly people.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location, if you’re heading to Chablis area. Structure in itself, indoor and outdoor. Flexibility in hours.
Cons: At the end of our stay we experienced a problem of fairness with the owners -no doubt they will perfectly understand what I’m referring...- that ruined an overall good stay. A sin actually, since our permanence until that has been quite acceptable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as good as it gets. Well designed interior, clean, comfortable, warm and with wifi that worked speedily. I'm a diabetic and once Madame knew this she changed the standard breakfast to avoid jams and sweet things. She even catered for my foibles over hot drinks by serving me a tisane in the morning.
Cons: When driving alone finding a place can be more difficult. The first signage I saw was an amateur B&B sign hung on a gate. I missed the big sign probably because I was looking the wrong way. I certainly failed to spot the way to get in by car. This was the only moment of doubt about the excellence of this admirable B&B.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cash only. Lucky we had it! It was a surprise. But then the location is a nice time warp.
Hôtel Les Maréchaux - Auxerre - Building

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hearty breakfasts, featuring a changing variety of regional cheeses, charcuterie, jams, and, of course, pastries, was a great treat. The hotel's location, in a quiet and relaxing garden park (with enormous trees, including a splendid 200-year-old Gingko), was a welcome oasis after a "hard" day of touristing. The proprietors and their wonderful English bulldog, Newton, were especially kind. The decor of the hotel, with its richly ornamented walls and tall ceilings made me feel like I'd just stepped into France's glorious past.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel set in A large old grand house, 10 minute walk from town centre. I thought the decor was appropriate for the surroundings and pleasant (think old stately home style). Room was a good size and the bed/mattress was extremely comfortable. We also had no problems with noise from any other guests etc. The fruit with breakfast was all really really good, so I presume they are very careful where they source it from.
Cons: the retrofit AC unit in the room was loud (fine by me but my partner couldn't sleep with it on so we had to turn it off). Water pressure in the bathroom was a little bit low. Breakfast a little bit meagre but OK. No one on the front desk overnight.
4.0 Okay
Cons: The decor and size of the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived after a long and hot drive from Beaune and were delighted that the Owners had kept the swimming pool open instead of closing it at the end of August. The hotel is in an historic building which the young Owners are restoring bit by bit. They are very welcoming and you can see the effort they are making both with the Hotel and in ensuring their guests enjoy a comfortable stay. We wish them every success with their daunting venture..
Cons: Nothing to dislike. An on-site Restaurant would be nice, although I'm sure this will come in time.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb location, room luxurious.
Cons: No evening meal available.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, history and staff
Cons: Loud air conditioner
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was good & the bed was comfortable.
Cons: Dark brown walls, curtains, floor and furniture, all very drab & dark. Tall trees outside so room was dark at all times.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It’s location, decor, bed linen, lighting and bed
Cons: Room was small as advertised and only had one chair

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Madame was charming and looked after us beautifully and we enjoyed meeting her extensive menagerie of dogs, sheep, lambs, ducks, geese, goats and above all her magnificent marmalade
Cons: We both prefer a bath to a shower when the weather is cold but we should have chosen a different room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very good welcome, lovely breakfast, nice pool
Cons: Coffee was a bit cold
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alain and Beatrice were amazing hosts treating us like private house guests in their elegant home The attention to detail in our accommodation, the facilities provided ,the swimming pool, and the gardens were all excellent and exceeded our expectations We stayed three nights and breakfast differed each day with mainly home produce on offer Probably our best short stay in France over the last few years
Cons: Any negative comments would be nit picking
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hotel for those who value privacy and tranquility as opposed to the bustle of the city. Hospitable and friendly hosts. Near the center of the town Auxerre and twenty minutes drive to the famous Chablis.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hosts! Amazingly sweet place! Delicious breakfast all local products from the garden. Very clean. Good recommendations for wine frips and gourmet trips. Very calm and relaxing. To visit
Cons: No major negatives.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners, the house, the garden, the pool house, the breakfast. Most of all, the warmth of the welcome, including an unusually affectionate cat! All very special.
Cons: As it’s b&b, you rely on local restaurants for dinner, and good ones need booking before hand, in either Auxerre or Chablis. Worth researching restaurants before hand.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s impossible not to be excited about this place. It is simply charming, authentic and very cosy. Nice old decoration, every decor detail has its place and meaning. The pool is great as well as the farm with goats chickens and dogs. The cat named Caramel was the key point of our stay - we just fell in love with him as he is a special cat. The owners are very welcoming and was a real pleasure to know them.
Cons: Nothing
4.6 Okay
Pros: good breakfast.
Cons: Be aware - there is NO WiFi !! It's advertised as an accommodation with free WiFi, but it just does not exist! When we tried to ask the owner about it, she showed us her phone with the local data plan, and told us with a surprised face "I don't know, I have google" . Really?! We couldn't get any acceptable answer since the owner doesn't even understand what the wifi or internet is... It would be funny and entertaining, but we had to get connection for work, and it was really unexpected and unacceptable. The building is old, but if you think it will give you the feeling of "chateau" life, well, don't be so naive....
Overview Reviews

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly and most helpful.
Cons: There was a little traffic noise though it didn’t go on all night - we had especially requested a room on the front (where the road is) for the river view so that is the trade off.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel on the river and just in front of the old town of Auxerre. Staff were all friendly and very helpful. The room was fine and comfortable with great view over the river. Breakfast buffet was exceptionally good. Highly recommended.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice decoration room , comfy and clean bed , great location by the river.
Cons: none
7.9 Good
Pros: We loved the location, right on the canal and minutes from the old town. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but there were loads close by. Breakfast was good though!
Cons: The decor was tired and it was quite noisy - doors banging at night and our room was at the back so people moving their cars in the parking area early in the morning was annoying.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location and good private parking
Cons: Old hotel overlooking river, nothing to dislike

Pros: For a budget hotel, this was excellent. Modern building, lift access to floors. Basic but clean and comfortable. Has a secure car park (fee payable) or can park out front. Walking distance to town centre, also near to Leclerc supermarket. Staff were welcoming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just over the bridge from the old town. Ample public free parking, good price, clean and friendly staff.
Cons: a bit cramped spacewise, but it is a budget location. I had a room facing the pub around the corner...sounded like a fun place, but noisy for sleeping.
5.0 Okay
Pros: When I booked in I was asked if I wanted breakfast and it would six Euros each.I declined at that time saying I 'd think about it,but next morning when I asked the night clerk I was told it was included in the price....
Cons: The A/C did not put out much and we like room cool at night so we had to open the window. It looked out onto a rear parking lot which must have serviced a nightspot because there was very loud talking from midnight to 3 am out there as well as car and motorcycles revving engines
7.9 Good
Pros: Convenient position.......close to large supermarket & easy walk across the river to the town.....close to railway station
Cons: Room fairly small, but adequate for a one night stay

Pros: Efficiently managed hotel with very good restaurant catering for wide cross section - lorry drivers, busnssmen andtourists.

Overview Reviews
Located in Moneteau, Le Domaine des Archies is within a 10-minute drive of Auxerre Cathedral and Abbey of Saint-Germain. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ben and Souad are wonderful hosts. It is obvious that their main aim is that all guests have the most pleasurable stay. My luggage had gone missing at Paris CDG airport and I'm not sure if I'd have seen it again without Ben and Souad's help. There is a nearby shopping park where I was able to buy what I needed until my suitcase arrived - every type of store you could imagine. . We stayed for nine nights and used it as a base to explore Auxerre and Burgundy. Visiting places like Noyers, Avallon ( Great Costume Museum), Tonnerre and Guedelon. Our room was large and we'd requested a fridge to store my partners medication. This was ready and waiting on our arrival. The room was cool allowing for a comfortable nights sleep even though the days were still warm. We alternated between driving off on sightseeing trips and chilling by the pool. There is a lounge where it was good to chat with fellow travellers after diner. It feels a roomy place with views across the valley.
Cons: A local bar within walking distance would have been the icing on the cake.
7.9 Good
Pros: secure parking, views, quality of room and friendly owner. Greeted us with a glass of wine on arrival which went down well with my partner after a long journey
Cons: not easy to find. Signage could be better.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly, clean and ideal location for a stop over.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly, obliging hosts, comfy bed, excellent breakfast, nice terrace and outdoor areas.
Cons: (a) Not the easiest to find – small sign easily missed (I did) and entrance hidden behind a massive white steel sliding gate, so that it’s undistinguishable from the surrounding houses (I had to ask a local where it was). (b) Basic amenities – a chair in the room would have been good, and I could never persuade the free wifi or internet to work - and there never seemed to be anyone around to ask. (c) If you’re in the room adjacent to the TV room, beware – it has only one teeny-weeny window, and you can hear the TV through the wall, which is a trial if you’re trying to sleep.
5.4 Okay
Pros: We liked the swimming pool and the fact that the domain is completed closed, so nice for the kids to play.
Cons: It was not clean at all. A lot of dust,...

Pros: The place is situated close to the center. There is a green park in front of the hostel and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff speak english very well. It is worth for the money you pay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: very delightful surroundings and helpful staff. a whale of thx.
7.1 Good
Pros: The propery was authentic old and typically French. Its pleasant location was quiet and close to the Town centre. The kitchen was spacious and great for cooking ones own dinner, with the option of eating outside in a quiet courtyard or inside the beautiful kitchen itself.
Cons: The town centre was disappointing: there were few street cafe's, and the bars and restaurants were uninviting and unhelpful. The town appeared somewhat depressed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location, cheap
Cons: Cleanliness is lacking, expectations from guests - “to clean up the room and bathroom area before leaving” - a bit unrealistic. Cold room - no heating on (December), on the wall it said it had to be paid for (? I assume, it was only in French). Also, there was no one at reception at time of check out, so I just left (had a train to catch, no time to look for anyone).
Overview Reviews
See hotel page In the heart of Auxerre, Burgundy's charm gives this beautiful noble 19th residence a timeless elegance. Sylvie Ramisse, head of The Originals Boutique, Hotel Normandie, Auxerre wanted her hotel to keep its family character. While authenticity and simplicity admittedly provide charm to this 3 star, they make it comfortable and friendly above all with its warm welcome. Its 47 rooms are modern and practical. They combine originality and comfort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Onsite parking at a very reasonable rate The room sizes and quality. The service standards of the staff, all of them Being able to enjoy a drink either down stairs at the bar or in our room... nothing was ever to much trouble
Cons: It’s not a fault at all but often we like a kettle in the room for a cuppa
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast selection, parking in garage a bonus, very conveniently located for the river quays and the main squares where the restaurants are located. Quite rooms and for those how are keen on fitness it has a fitness suite.
Cons: Rooms are a little small and the cost has crept up over the years - not such good value as had been before. On the second morning the breakfast buffet ran out of food and we had to wait for it to be refreshed.
6.7 Good
Pros: It was clean, and the younger staff were very helpful and accommodating to our needs. We needed to ship a suitcase back to the US and they were very gracious about helping with printing the forms for us. Buffet breakfast was good. Food is available although in room service form, you can get it to eat in the lounge. This was a blessing as most local restaurants were closed during our stay. Word of caution, order your taxi early, or you wont be able to get one!
Cons: Rooms were bare bones, small, a bit shabby. Very small clothes cupboard, Towels were small, old and scratchy. For one night it would be ok, the bareness if the room, (no coffee maker!) made it less comfortable for a tourist couple like us who stayed 3 nights.
10.0 Excellent

7.5 Good
Pros: We chose des 2 gare for closeness to the train/ bus station. Dragging a bag around it was convenient. It's a walk up to the room, but the room was adequate appeared to have been recently renovated. Not big or fancy, but clean and comfortable.
Cons: This is an old place and a bit down market. Not a big hotel. It would have been nice to have a small fridge, or at least coffee making facilities.

Cons: Car park bit of an unmade piece of concrete.
7.1 Good
Pros: The owner is very nice and friendly and the location is decent, not too far a walk to the old town.
Cons: This place is in need of renovation, our bathroom was lovely but our room and corridors were not great and the bed was not comfortable and very squeaky. It does seem he is in the process of renovating but it was not the standard we were expecting and needs to be a bit cleaner.

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing..
Cons: The staff, the facilities. The list would go on..
9.2 Excellent
Pros: However, all these things should be ignored as the interior was lovely and spotless. The staff was extremely sweet and very helpful. Also had WiFi and air conditioning which was a must for our visit. Highly recommend!
Cons: The location is in a less pretty part of town but it was safe and convenient to the train station. Also, the outside of the building is in need of some sprucing up.
