The owners were very friendly & helpful and went out of their way to please. Food was very good.
Quiet location convenient for touring the Western Front battle fields. Friendly staff, good food reasonably priced.
The Manager and staff very helpful. Room needsair conditioning
A very friendly family run hotel catering for all our needs. The rooms were particularly very clean and comfortable and quiet at night. The menu offered by the hotel gave good choice and the food was very good.
Location and efficiency and friendliness of owners Kurt and Nancy
Staff were excelent, helpfull and very friendly. A very good night sleep, for a cheap hotel, this was excelent, better than some 4 star establishments.
location and food rooms were rather small
Good location for touring Flanders, helpful staff, nice modern hotel Difficult to find entrance to Hotel, being right on busy Belgium/French border
Nice welcome and very good room if a little expensive. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is in the middle of a lorry park on the france/Belgium border and the garages and tobacco shops make it a pretty depressing venue.
nothing particularly interesting only a stop overnigh outdoor is quite boring
The view and the food
The location of the hotel is excellent. We had a twin room with a truly superb view over the valley (that is well worth the litle extra that one has to pay). The staff were pleasant and friendly, and the lady on reception when we came to depart was especially charming. One the evening that we stayed in the hotel there was a large function booked, and this consumed the greater part of the staff's attention. As a consequence there was little or no bar service and at least one guest left the bar without having been able to order a drink. Service at dinner was similarly sparse: it took two hours to have two courses served. The dinner menu is fine for anyone passionate about lobster, but otherwise there is relatively little choice. That is curious, given that the chef apparently has a international reputation. However, the food we chose (not lobster) was excellent, and probably better than any we had had in France, so I would not wish to put anyone off from visiting this very pleasant hotel.
Great meals! Signage and directions could be improved!
Excellent food, fine wines and very good service both at dinner and breakfast The bathrooms are a bit on the small side but this is more than made up for by the views and the atmosphere
wonderful views, very picturesque, charming staff, cosy & comfortable, good atmosphere, exquisite dinner, fantastic breakfast, small and homely. maybe a lift would be a good idea?
The quality of the hotel was excellent with good service and facilities. With interesting surroundings and good centre for sightseeing.
The hotel offered bar facilties whenever we returned to the hotel. The rooms were always very clean. The room was very small, the twin beds were pushed together just like a double bed. The barman did not fill glasses to the right amount. Very limited food menu. Hotel well away from village - needed transport.
The view, and the food No
Stunning views & welcoming staff
Beautiful surroundings and stunning views. Room facilities very good. Room was slightly on the small side.
Manager was helpful. The room was warm and clean. The breakfast was good. The walls are thin and I was woken up very early by inconsiderate guests who turned the volume up on their room TV. You cannot shower easily as there are no shower screens or hooks to fit the shower heads onto.
Large spacious room, fantastic view. Food was excellent. Two single beds pushed together to form a double.
The owners were very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and the rooms were comfortable. It was situated in a beautiful position with wonderful views although it may be noisy at the weekends as it is on a through road. The beds were very basic and rather uncomfortable. There was no where to sit and relax enabling you to meet other guests, as all the public rooms were set for meals.
The staff were very helpful & the food was excellent.
Good hotel close to French/Belgian border. Very helpful staff and excellent evening meal.
The owner was really friendly and there was plenty of parking space and a lovely room and evening meal.
Food was excellent. Rooms very stylish. Very good value for money.
Staff professionalism, suite spaciousness and facilities, restaurant, and just about everything
We found the welcome was excellent. The room was so luxurious and clean. Cherries, nuts and other little extras made us feel so special. This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and will always make it our special hotel.
A lovely experience, the meals were fantastic and the staff very pleasant, attentive and friendly. Car parking nearby was wonderful, convenient and no cost. The noise from the traffic as we had a front room. Whilst the room was lovely the traffic noise was a little disturing during the night.
Fantastic food and wines, excellent service from friendly and informed, professional staff. This is our second stay at the hotel and we would definitely return.
central location, high standards, staff spoke good english, superior rooms
Good location close to the centre of town; excellent rooms. Staff were polite but not particularly welcoming
The room was beautiful with a huge bed and a jucuzzi bath
Our stay was pure heaven, we like to do our own thing on holiday and the staff were so helpful and understanding throughout our stay. The meal we had in the Pegasus restaraunt was the best meal and service I have ever encountered in my many years of travelling.
Our second stay. We love the place & the owner is great. I defy anyone to find a better, more comfortable room at the price we paid. Some decor a little jaded but beyond that we could not find fault. Not the fault of the hotel but Poperinghe seems to suffer from a surfiet of carnivals, fairs or the digging up of the main square. On five separate occasions we have experienced one or the other. This time it was a carvival which precluded getting car close to hotel before mid evening. Eating out a problem on Sunday evening but excellent restaurant on Abele border is open.(take your French dictionary unless you speak the language.)
The room was superb
Clean and modern room - well presented Poor breakfast which is over priced and the whole town is dug up with mud everywhere
Everything was wonderful!
friendly greeting, good food, pleasant room
On our arrival the lady of the house, could not have been more friendly and helpful. The hotel was really first class on decoration and comfort; it was just a pity that we could not eat in their restaurant (being a day the restaurant was closed) as looking through the menu, it looked to be a good choice and has local and regional dishes.
I am unable to judge any feature of this hotel at a level less than excellent. It comprises a newly created small group of rooms, where interior design and overall quality is exceptional. Visit now, before the inevitable wear and tear begins. Rooms and breakfast are outstanding. Breakfast seemed a little expensive at 12.5 euro, but it was worth every cent. Good local beers and perfectly satisfactory food in the busy restaurant, but if you seek outstanding quality to match the accommodation, you may need to drive elsewhere. Nothing at all. It was ideal for us.
A wonderful little beer cafe / restaurant / hotel in the corner of the marketplace. The room was very much in the boutique hotel category. Many thoughtful little extras provided. The food in the restaurant was superb, and the cafe has a great selection of Belgian beers to sample. The marketplace is currently undergoing renovations, and was not available to park in, but it did not stop us enjoying a lovely weekend break.
Very good location for touring the loal area and beyond, within easy reach from the UK. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room as we would normally expect.
The owner of the hotel is truely fantastic catering for all your needs throughout. I would recommend this hotl to anybody.
Very friendly & efficient staff, very comfortable & well equipped bedrooms, superb bathroom, great terrace.
This was beyond good. It was excellent. The attention to detail was amazing. So very luxurious. Very peaceful. Utterly amazing. Nothing like a B & B. Think very small luxury Hotel. There was nothing not to like.
The room was wonderful;spacious, full of interesting artefacts and comfortable. Food excellent. Hostess exceptionally charming and helpful. Location was a bit awkward - fairly hard to find
Beautifully presented accommodation, very welcoming and helpful hostess, excellent breakfast (we did not eat dinner there.) Excellently situated for easy access to Ypres and the WW1 battlefields. Nothing.
Exceptional 5* standard, nothing too much trouble, friendly, romantic, relaxing, attention to every little detail so much more than we expected would reccommend De Rentmeersterhoeve it has an interesting history, hope to be be returning soon.
We were very warmly welcomed by the hostess and given drinks on arrival. Our host gave us plenty of informaiton about the local area which helped immensely with the visit. The location is beautiful and the room was decorated to a very high standard. The grounds are beautiful with a variety of animals, including deer, dogs, cats and sheep. We had to pay in cash, which we didn't anticipate which meant we had to take out extra foreign currency. Ideally payment could be made by card.
Excellent location, superb hosts, lovely atmosphere. We would have liked tea & coffee facilities in our room - although we were told to ask for anything we wanted at any time (which we did). However it would be nice to have the facility without having to bother anyone!
Lovely B & B. Hostess very hospitable. Did not take advantage of breakfast, but had a wonderful dinner.
Friendly atmosphere, nice restaurant with good food, good breakfast Noise on the square at night
The staff were extremely helpful. The room was quite large and well-appointed. The food in the restaurant was wonderful. Location was ideal, right on the main square. Excellent value. I would highly recommend this hotel. No
Friendly staff, excellent room, easy to access, good location, nice room, good food and good bar Bar closed untill our last night as was evening dining.
We used the hotel as a base for touring the WW1 battlefields in the Ypres and Somme areas. The location was ideal and the hotel and its facilities were excellent.
hotel is situated right in the square and is ideal for exploring the town. Our room was large and had a 4 poster bed. Bar area was lovely and staff very helpful. Restaurant was busy and food looked great Not really the hotels fault but the whole square is currently being updated and is really a building site. access is very difficult and muddy. This work will continue for another 6-9 months. No parking on site but free carpark 2 mins away
With a total of 5 members in our family (2 Adults and 3 children, 7, 5 and 1.5) we find that there is not much choice when it comes to overnight accommodation. The family suite which this hotel have on offer was re-decorated in 2009 and is clean, spacious and very reasonably priced. The Hotel owners were great and we will make a point of staying there again in future, when in the area. The fact that the family suite is on the top floor, with no lift and no logical location where one could be retrofitted is a downside but this wasn't really a problem for us and the plus points of this hotel for a family, easily outweigh this one minor problem.
Rooms are lovely, spacious and pretty. The location is super, right on the square. The staff were very good, helpful, friendly and efficient. Lovely bar in the hotel, and the garden restaurant is very pretty and the food was delicious. no, it was all good!
Friendliness of staff & willingness to help Bedrooms very poor both in amenities and decor. Hotel smelt of smoke throughout & otherr than the ground floor (bar/restaurant) is not somewhere I would be staying or recommending again. There are much better alternatives close by.
A good period hotel. New owners are refurbishing it and it has great potential. The restaurant food was excellent Smoking is still allowed in the bar.
Very friendly family run hotel, good breakfast, english spoken. Has a well stocked bar of obscure Belgian beers and knowledgeable staff. No lifts (although porterage provided), car parking around the hotel available but you may have to move car around. tv did not work - not that we minded. Bar area in need of redecoration and cheering up (09/10)
the building which was beautiful right outside our bedroom room 16 was a generator or something which kept me away every night so I would never stay in that room again, even with earplugs it was awful. The hotel I would definately stay in but would ask for a room at the front of the building
It was a very freindly hotel, we felt welcome immediately, the breakfasts where very good with a good selection to cater for all tastes. The bar was also well stocked with a good selection of Belgian beers. I would gladly return to this hotel. I cannot think of anything we did not like
the beer our card seemed not to work at the hotel and the managers treated us with some suspicion as if we were not going to pay.
