10.0 Excellent
Pros: the place was quiet and in a nice spot close to city center.(3-4 minutes drive by car) it was clean and had free internet we liked the beds, they were comfortable to sleep in the room was quite big and there was a kitchen with all the equipment inside of the room was quite cold but luckily we went there in summer so it was a good thing the house owner was very warm and positive.she only spoke french but somehow we were able communicate due to her charming attitude i had dinner for 20 chf and she cooked all the food.it was the best part of my stay and i suggest you eat there.i regret not also buying breakfast long story short,i can stay there again if i visit cudrefin again!
Cons: there was a coffee pod machine but it was not complimentary.it was 1 chf per pod.so far whereever else i stayed,it was free. the power plugs are different in switzerland and she didn't have any adapters so i had to go to media markt to buy one for 10 chf the house owner can be more flexible on checkout time.we left there at 11.10 and she almost charged us 25 chf for not leaving on time she asked us take our garbage bags with us when we left.this was a first.so we took 2 bags of garbage in our car. i drank two beverages from the fridge and showed her to pay but she counted the rest of the bottles anyway including the plates etc

7.5 Good
Pros: Location was great - it was easy to walk everywhere.
Cons: It was quite warm and opening the window wasn’t an option given the noise from the station. Also, the beds weren’t made up in the same way - one had a duvet insert and the other didn’t. If it had been cooler I would’ve expected inserts for both.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Next to train station and a little noise as trains came and went.

Pros: Charming B&B with very kind and helpful hosts. The rooms were nice, the beds comfortable and the breakfast good with local products. I would return!

Pros: Everything. The room are perfect, clean, well equipped and also very nice. Quite simple but stylish.

7.0 Good
Pros: The location is excellent, next to the lake , quiet environment
Cons: Breakfast rather limited , dinner to expensive for the quality that is served. Hotel is good for one or two nights, not good enough to spent one week here (when you are on holidays)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We have booked an apartment for our family, and it was confirmed by the booking. However day later hotel called us and informed about double booking. However they promised us a room, where two beds to accommodate kids will be prepared and it will be cheaper. So we were no worried. At eh end it was much better, since room was with garden entrance an d direct access to lake. Stuff was very friendly. Restaurant is good, but more on expensive side.
Cons: Rooms a bit dated, but however clean. Breakfast has no sweets like cakes or similar, only croissants. Selection of cheese are good.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Good diner (but costly).
Cons: Avoid room 24. It is on the lake side, but at less than 1m from the window, there is a wall of 1.5 to 1.7m high blocking the sight and you don't have a terras like the other lake side rooms. Only if you stand up you can see a glimpse of the lake. I confronted the personnel with this when I went to pay, stating that room 24 should not be priced as high as the other lake side rooms. They acknowledged there was a 'problem' with that room but I still had to pay the full 'lake side' rate. Breakfast was really basic.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely lakeside hotel with great restaurant and food. Really enjoyed the wine from their own vineyards. Only an average breakfast though and out of date yogurt, quickly resolved when pointed out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful terrace for dining and relaxing al fresco lakeside. Some rooms have great balconies with lake view
Cons: Very poor breakfast, at least on the weekly closure day (Wednesday)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Most of all we liked view from window- big lake, little ships...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel location is second to none on the lakeside. Very close to the pier of the boats on the lake. The food was excellent as was the wine
Cons: The bedroom was very small and hot but they did provide us with a fan which helped.
Hotel Adler - Murten - Building
11
8.5 Excellent (617 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Housed in a historic building first mentioned in 1396, where such famous people as Casanova and Goethe once stayed, the Hotel Adler enjoys a central location in the Old Town of Murten. Free WiFi is available. Every room in the Adler Hotel is unique. They all offer cable TV. The ship pier on Lake Murten is only 200 metres away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel with a bar downstairs in this very lovely little square in Murten. The room had every comfort. Didn't stay for breakfast. Very disappointing pizza at the Fontana restaurant, over cooked and very expensive.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, right on the main street of historic Murten. There's plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It is perfect for people looking only for a place to stay central. Good option for solo travelers.
Cons: Check-in and check-out could be improved. When I arrived the staff was working at the bar, so I had to wait a little bit. Also they forgot to give me the wifi password, which wasn't neither mentioned anywhere in my room.
6.8 Good
Pros: Close walking distance to the train station.
Cons: Unfortunately this location is over the bar so it was noisy until 3am.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Michelle the bartender, receptionist and polite helper
Cons: Facility- elevator, room felt life a fire hazard
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was huge and the beds are very comfy. The staff is super nice. It was.
Cons: We were on the second floor, family room, it was pretty loud from the bar downstairs. Also they need to put a curtain or some kind of privacy in the bathroom window. The bath products have a very strong scent, if you like herbs you will love it, I found it too strong. A bit expensive
7.5 Good
Pros: Close to the train station, cosy nice place, with a twist: pub downstairs, which is cool.
Cons: The bathroom was separated from the room, and no slippers provided. Think about the backpackers who have no checked bags, whiteout any flip flops. The bed sheets should be ironed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in historic part of town, charming room, good value
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very clean. my parents had a double room. it was modern and bright with a nice bathroom. The lift was very helpful as my mother has a bad knee. Check in and out were super easy.
Cons: Although the hotel description says breakfast is available for 18chf, there is no breakfast and the restaurant doesn’t open until 11am. There is also no coffee in the rooms... only a carafe of tap water. We were told to look down the street for something open... on Mondays this is difficult in Switzerland. I drove to the grocery store and bought us supplies to make our own breakfast. The single room on the third floor is large, but felt a bit claustrophobic because of the situation of the window and low ceiling. I would pay more for a better room next time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and funky clean rooms over a really cool bar. Excellent central location. Thanks Adler!
Cons: Nothing - all great thanks

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The studio we stayed in was really comfortable, well equipped and had lovely views. Breakfast brought to our door was also a delightful bonus.
Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the small village was wonderful. If you are looking for the Ritz you won’t be happy. The accommodations were humble but our stay was fantastic. The lady served a very nice European breakfast. She spoke very little English but amazingly we were able to communicate. We felt like we had gone back several centuries in time. Ate at the Margarita Restaurant and had a delightful young waitress who made our meal even more enjoyable. Shopped at the local cheese store, butcher shop and bakery. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for an adventure. If you need the Marriott don’t stay here.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful...friendly and helpful. Our studio was perfect! It allowed us to cook for ourselves and save money. The area was quiet and peaceful. The town was lovely and historic. It is an easy walk to the Bielersee, which was a great place to swim and relax. Of all the places we stayed on our 3 week trip, this was our favorite. We would like to go back and spend more time there.
Cons: We liked everything!
5.8 Okay
Pros: The size of the room, the apparent friendliness of staff, the gorgeous breakfast in the morning. The house need restoration quite soon and does not correspond anymore to the picture shown in booking.com.
Cons: The difficult public transportation (I dared not to rent s car but it was a mistake), the fact that I requested not to withdraw 24% from my personal credit card as a deposit fee, since I was on a business trip, but they withdrew it twice; the fact that I asked to stay one more night but they said that it was occupied: anyhow I tried again via booking.com and I got the room (?); the fact that I received a mail announcing that for that second day there would be no 24% deposit withdrawal, whilst this was done immediately ; the fact that they seem not to speak English nor French (but they write google-translated mails in English)....Question: why these properties are kept within booking.com network?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This bed and breakfast is a hidden gem. The owners are extremely nice and caring, and the service is exceptional. There's a beautiful large garden with free range hens and ducks. A lovely breakfast was served at our room every morning. The surroundings are lovely and the rooms are super cozy. Highly recommended!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and kind hosts, excellent location, quiet place. The belonging cosy garden with its many beautiful corners is enjoyable at any time of the day. Guests can also buy handmade pottery in the store, which is the part of the main house.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners took the extra time to write us a message attached to the door as they weren't home, we felt really welcomed and free to move around the place. Great visit!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really clean and spacious. Also very cute decorated
5.8 Okay
Pros: Braakfast, really gorgeous
Cons: Deposit of 24% retained in spite of the fact I asked to pay cash (in order not to use my personal credit card), they said the room was not available firbtgevday after, but indeed I reserved on your site another room in thevsame property, not English speakers (writers yes, with Google Translate), place badly deserved by public transportation , TV set working when it wanted....
6.8 Good
Cons: The kitchen/dining space has been painted with agressive green colours, which impacts negatively on the enjoyment. It all looks not quite cared for, even though it is quite spacious. Mosquito nets in the windows would be useful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hole impression
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful building, nice restaurant, great service
Cons: Uncomfortable beds, mattress way to soft and uncomfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a fantastic place. The main building, the garden. Love it ! The overall atmosfere is incredible. Price / quality level is absolutely excellent.
Cons: The rooms are in a separarte modern building so you are not actually sleeping in a castle! My room was really small. 2 beds head to head. Still again, price / quality is very good. No coffee or other facilities in my room. Again nothing too important but worth noting. Finally, and this is a serious issue all over CH, the pillows are just plain terrible: their are a large pancake-flat piece of linen. You need to fold them a couple of times to provide support to your head. You will be waking up in the morning with a massive headache. Unfortunately this is a standard anywhere in CH!! You probably need a car to get here.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice staff, good breakfast. The property is beautiful.
Cons: Bathrooms are decent but for the hotel standard too simple.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was very quiet and in a beautiful part of Murten. It was a bit far from the village old town so u would need GPS.
Cons: We drove up to the castle and was led to believe we were staying there. We were taken down to an annex. It was very unappealing from the outside and had weeds, bits of building material all around the area. It was pretty interesting inside. I was beginning to wonder if anybody had ever use this room before. There was no place to hang your towels, no place to put your luggage except for on the cement floor, no one knew how to use the washing machine, there was no telephone in the room to call directly to the reception desk, there were drapes at both ends of the long halls and they would not close all the way, no tv, no internet, no A/C and it was a warm day. So if you needed anything you had to walk about 100 yards to the reception desk. We did complain and they were very nice to give us a different room. Corinne Was very nice to help. So just be aware that you know where you will be staying at this hotel. OK I submitted that
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is gorgeous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in beautiful surroundings, the castle offers everything you need for a lovely and relaxing stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room in the guesthouse was comfortable, quiet and cool (important as it was a particularly hot day), and the breakfast buffet was a feast for the eyes and stomach. The castle is a 15-minute drive from Avenches and can be easily reached by car even late at night, but it may be trickier by public transport.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Cons: I could not take the breakfast, because breakfast was at 7 h and I had to leave for work at 6 h.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Amazing setting.
Cons: Charged 4 CHF per person for their 'tap/spring' water. As the water in Switzerland is excellent from the tap, there's no need to charge...

Cons: Room small and bathroom tired in comparison to the modern parts of the hotel. No kettle in room No safe in room
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The bathroom wasn't clean, traces on the tiles, also hair stuck to the bathroom wall. Bathroom very small compared to the size of the room In need of updating, has not been renovated for some time. Furniture generally basic and dated, the same for the bathroom. No shower door but just a curtain. Quite expensive but probably because of the light festival
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed the whole experience of staying at Hotel Murten. A few minutes walk to the old town and a short walk to and from the railway station.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location, good WiFi, comfortable bed, good shower, free parking, nice restaurant and bar.
Cons: Breakfast a bit limited
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice big room and bathroom. Had a table and chairs and small fridge. Easy walk into the walled city. Friendly staff at the desk.
Cons: A few stairs to climb to get to the room even if you took the elevator up so if you have mobility issues you should advise them.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staffs are all very friendly and welcoming. I felt that they tried their best to entertain their customers. The hotel is just beside the Bern Gate, so very convenient to go any place in the town. The bar of the hotel is open till late, so you can have drinks and enjoy.
Cons: Bed is too small. I heard all kinds of noise from next door. Laugh and chat from the corridor. No sound proof. At breakfast, the windows were widely open, so smoke of tobacco came in. They should close the windows.
7.0 Good
Pros: breakfast was good, location in the town and proximity to the lake were excellent, property was modern. close to everything.
Cons: room could have been bigger, the beds could have been more comfortable.
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: I really appreciated the staff attitude: 1) when I was booking the property (it was a one night stay during my several day mission in Switzerland), I didn't check the working hours of the reception desk. It happened that on that particular day they where closing by 17:00. A day after my booking, I got an email inquiring about my arrival hour and suggesting some solutions in case I arrived late. It was really nice to think about it in advance. 2) when I arrived on site I got my key according to the provided instructions, but was not able to get access to the wi-fi network. When I ask a waiter in the restaurant about the password he immediately printed out login details for both of my devices. 3) continental breakfast is basic, but nice. 4) in the morning I had a great view on the lake.
Cons: Simplify network access procedures :-)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The lake view was magnificent. The room was simple but had all the facilities needed.
Cons: When you have your phone or computer to plug, not a lot of plugs in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A beautifully located hotel where tradition has been adapted sensibly and beautifully to new requirements. The attentive employees pay attention and respond quickly and professionally to every wish.
Cons: The parking situation is not optimally solved; there is certainly much improvement possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place! Best value for money I've ever had! Beautiful views, friendly staff, absolutely fabulous place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nicely furnished. Balcony with view of lake, nice size bathroom, very helpful, friendly staff And great breakfast.
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely decorated room. Great breakfast. Located right in the old town on the lake. Walked all over and down by lake. Beautiful place. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Looking forward to another stay.
Cons: It was all just great.Enjoyable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was outstanding. The balcony was large, and great view of the lake. The medival village was just great. Walking around the old town was an experience we won't forget. No lift at the hotel, but they were willing to help us with our luggage.
Cons: I wanted a coffee, which I could have waited for, but they said the staff could bring it to the room. They charged us room service. There was no coffee service in our room. I was not impressed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the lake, very close to the ferry quay, and a 5 minute walk (albeit uphill all the way) to the old town; my lakeside room was clean, bright and airy, and surprisingly large (the bathroom was small, but perfectly adequate); plenty of wardrobe space (a real rarity in Switzerland!); shuttered windows can be left open at night - there's almost no noise in the evenings, lakeside - and cooling breezes off the lake make for a comfortable sleeping-temperature, even if the day has been very hot (27 degrees Celsius, when I was there); extremely pleasant and helpful staff throughout
Cons: Bottom sheet made of some stretchy, synthetic material - soft enough, but not as cool and fresh as cotton; no lift (though that's not likely to be an issue for most people in a three-storey building); WiFi was a bit weak and the internet connection dropped occasionally; quite a long walk - around 20 minutes - to the railway station
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location overlooking the lake
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located next to the lake, a very relaxed place to take a walk on the waterfront. The old town is less than a 5 minute walk, but up a steep hill. We were upgraded to the panorama suite, a large room with a huge balcony and view on the lake.
Cons: The room had very busy flowery wall paper and is a bit dated

5.8 Okay
Pros: Room was Ok, clean and as expected.
Cons: Bar, restaurant and main hotel was closed. This wasn't obvious when booking. Basically just a room for the night which was over priced massively.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Beds were okay and the bathroom nice and modern.
Cons: The owner wasn’t there when we arrived, had to phone him and retrieve the room keys from a box even though we arrived exactly when I said we would. I think when you’re paying this kind of money for a room someone should be there to great you. The shower wasn’t very powerful. We only saw him in the morning when paying for the room. I should have looked at the position more before I booked, nothing really around so went to another town, Murten, to eat supper. They were having a festival so it worked out ok
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This was a stopover on a motorbike trip around Europe, convenient, clean with good restaurant. Host allowed me to park my motorbike in his garage.
Cons: Switzerland is just a bit more expensive than other countries!!
6.3 Good
Pros: Location convenient for my scope
Cons: Combination of restaurant, hotel rooms
6.3 Good
Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: Not a good value for money. There are better options around. Breakfast could be better. My room faced backyard with a lot of clutter - not nice to look at....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, despite being near the station, new or newly refurbished room & bathroom, ample parking
Cons: Don't like the sliding door to the bathroom that doesn't really close so lacks privacy
6.8 Good
Cons: Not prepared for summer. Too hot. Bedroom 's window not safe.

Pros: We spent a nice weekend here. The staffs are very nett. I did the special requirment of booking a cake, the corperating bakery with the hotel did exactly what I requires. Everthing is pefect, I would like to visit it again in the future.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The personnel, the location and cleanliness are great.
Cons: Booking was not accurate as I thought I had reserved half board and it was not done that way. The bathroom needs more privacy as it includes the toilet and shower in the same room.

5.5 Okay
Pros: it was perfectly located in the center of town. The family room was very spacious and comfortable.
Cons: We arrived at 15:00 and no one answered the front door of the hotel. Everything was closed. We had to wait until 18:00, until the hotel restaurant opened. Only then could we get our keys. The wc was not in the room, but down the main corridor. Very little insonorisation. We could hear everything that happened outside the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: No breakfast provided.
Cons: No fan, mini fridge.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very central and convenient. The staff is very friendly and the food in the restaurant was tasty.
7.0 Good
Pros: I liked the location and the owner let me check in an hour early at 1PM.
Cons: It says in the description that it is a shared bathroom, but the power room had no hand towels is separate even from the shower. My room had a noise like a bathroom fan that went on and off alllllll night. It would have better to have just stayed on. It made me crazy and when I asked to be moved my second night, but I was told no. The owners are kind but the girl that worked there was awful. She made it VERY clear from the moment of checkin that she didn't like me from the start and I knew it, so I tried to avoid her as much as possible. The only time I went to the restaurant for a drink and dessert I got ignored for a long long time and then when she finally took my order i was given a desert that was just bread with glaze. I ordered chocolate. I was soooooo lonely in this drab place I couldn't wait to leave. Rick Steve's recommended this hotel so clearly other people liked it. Also, you can't plug in your phone and a reading lamp at the same time because there was only one outlet. It was, by far, my least favorite hotel that I have ever stayed. The location is the best and the price "reasonable" but I would GLADLY pay more for a better place. If you can find somewhere else. I would highly recommend you do so. Murten is an AMAZING little town with really really kind store owners. One if my favorite places on the planet, just don't stay here and you'll love it. Oh and at least try to speak a little German or French they all appreciate that. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is clean and comfortable. Good location.
Cons: The reception is not open during lunch break. Have to trouble my friend from Swiss to call them.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite unique and beautiful place, well maintained, sparkling clean and relatively quiet. The owner together with all staff were very friendly, I would definitely consider coming back
Cons: The dinner menu was a bit limited and expensive for what we got. Lot of meat options. Breakfast didn’t have the biggest selection
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall a very good experience ... very pleasant surroundings and interesting building with very good comfortable room. Food quite ordinary and a bit limited in choice.
Cons: Could perhaps have done with an additional member of staff when quite a lot of dinner guests.
5.8 Okay
Pros: service, very unresponsive, as it is a spouse couple that runs the place. charged me twice took weeks to clear up. very little english, not welcoming to Americans as compared to natives. The one highlight was Anna in restaurant; very helpful, genuine, and kind.
Cons: Service, proprietors rather unfriendly, internet ONLY works in lobby.
