Hotel receptionist at the front lobby. Upon checking in, he literally gave keys and handed it over. Didn't explain anything else, parking, amenities, etc
I liked the outdoor area. There is a large pool, hot tub, games, and communal fire pit that was a lot of fun. I really dislike the bed covers. You are either way too hot or freezing. What happened to old-fashioned blankets?
Beautiful room, beautiful view and very convenient to all of down town It seems the nicer the hotel, the less accommodations. No free coffee or breakfast, business center computers needed to have browsers updated, too many kids in the spa
Very nice grounds. Facility and staff were very nice. Rooms look nice but not very functional. Modern hand shower makes a mess and not easy to use. Indoor free standing A.C. unit is needed but is as loud as a train. Closet door won't stay shut. Ceiling fan wobbles and makes noise. Soda machines were down. Stupid small things that could be easily fixed.
Facilities not to standard expected for four star rating
We enjoyed the recently updated rooms including the very nice bathroom with vanity and open shower. We enjoyed very tasty room service meals (dinner and breakfast). We also used the pool which was pleasantly warm. The toilet was a bit of a tight fit with walls on either side. The air conditioner was a standing machine which had an exhaust that was separated form the back and until we reattached it poured hot exhaust over the air-conditioning.
My wife and I live on east coast and celebrated our 25th anniversary in California. We stayed at a Hyatt in 3 out of the 4 cities we spent time in. We started with the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco for 4 nights which was fantastic! We then stayed here at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey which was not what we expected. We upgraded to a room facing the golf course. The view decent. The staff were very friendly. The location is good if you're a golfer. Otherwise, I would rather be closer to the beach. My primary complaint was the lack of central AC. I don't know if all rooms are setup this way but our room had a portable air conditioner. It does the job to cool the room but it is extremely loud and the compressor kicked on and off all night. If you can sleep in 72 degrees, you won't have a problem. If you are like my wife and I and like it 67-69 degrees, you may want to consider another hotel. It has a huge impact on a good night's sleep which is the main purpose for renting a hotel in the first place.
Super nice staff. The $22 resort fee includes parking and internet. A little farther from the wharf/tourists spots.
Loved that they had live music. Restaurant had good service for breakfast and dinner. Food was good as well. Did not like carpet in bedrooms. Bathrooms a bit small
There was very little water pressure from the shower. Also the heater thermostat did not work. We set it at 80 we were freezing and went to bed, when we woke up the heater never kicked on but the ceiling fan did? So weird
Everyone from the front desk staff, the servers and bartenders, and the housekeepers did an amazing job. I work in the service industry in a casino/resort, and yet I experienced better service and a better experience with the staff at the Hyatt than where I work. A+++. The only things I didn't like had nothing to do with the hotel and its staff. It isn't located downtown, so it is a very short trek to the festivities in town. Also, it sounded like a large man was doing burpees in the room above us.
Beds are comfortable and clean
We loved the suite location and personal parking spot. Great room, very clean. Didn't like that the telephone didn't work to reach lobby.
Good location and excellent housekeeping. Couldn't connect to Wi-Fi service. Almost no connectivity for cell phone service (one bar for Verizon).
They overcharged me $140 and refused to refund me. It has been a nightmare dealing with this establishment. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. Stay away.
Personal is pleasant. For those of us who require a service dog or have pets this motel has a specific area where they put you. I've stayed in this motel in the past and had complained about the nasty carpet. This time around was worse than before. I stayed in room 149 as soon as I walked in and over whelming stench of dog urine. I don't understand how this is acceptable. It was so strong how can housekeeping overlook this and clean the room and report it as "ready." This carpet really needed a shampooing if not ripped out. JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE AN ANIMAL WITH US DOESNT MEAN WE RE OK WITH THIS. I went down the street to the market to purchase deodorizers. I pulled a bed sheet and layed it down so that my dog and I could walk around. Please upkeep cleanliness in these rooms!! You may want to rip out the carpet and use laminate flooring in these rooms.
comfortable, quick checkin, no hassles WiFi was pretty much useless (building on south side of pool, but also in lobby). Room wasn't made up while we were out, and when we did get it made, sheets weren't changed.
The room was large and comfortable and the staff was very friendly.
what sucked the most is that nothing I read about the hotel said that all the planes coming and going fly right over the hotel and if the plane was big enough the building shook sounded like it was coming right though the window. that would go on all night. would I stay there again NO
To get 5 stars from me 1. Keep your staff, the young girl needs more energy the middle aged Caucasian lady was great. Sorry didn't get names. 2. Replace the carpeting throughout the hotel. 3. Replace the wall paper and paint. 4. Add scrambled eggs or waffles to the breakfast. 5. Make reservations room-type specific, not what happens to be available, not sure if this is a kayak issue or hotel.
Nice balcony, fridge and micro, updated furnishing and decor, lighted parking lot and view of vehicle, were able to purchase tickets in lobby with bonus day to the aquarium, breakfast (continental) and kid/ family friendly. A great value for family comfort and convience!!! Initial check in hostess was not pleasant, the other hostess for tickets the next day was extremely helpful and polite, breakfast could have had maybe waffles to jazz up the breakfast selection and "cooked" hard boiled eggs, SHOWER was definately in need of remodeling, 70's style but clean and in good working order. Oh and yes, right below the jets/ planes flying over but it didn't bother us, we enjoyed watching them, and it seemed to only be early in the evening not when we were sleeping.
Maybe at most the employees were nice. So first of I gotta say I hate giving reviews or surveys, so if I do it's because I was left with an impression...and I'm sad to say this was not a good one...I advise for you to spend a little bit more money for a better hotel. The place is near the fwy which could be convenient, but walking in you know probably not the best place...the room doors alone look like prison cells, you walk into the room and it smells horrible, our sheets were stained and looked nasty...the heater didn't work...even though I called and was promised someone would come look at it...but never showed up...the toilet made a horrible noise. If ur sensitive to sound not a good place to stay as you can hear the airplanes at every hour. The breakfast was sad...and they honestly shouldn't even advertise it. It looked dirty.
Location was great Staff - The asian desk clerk made me wait for an unreasonble. She saw I was waiting, walked past me twice, would not look my way after I sat down due to my health. She helped the other clerk in minor talk twice, she realy butted in. Having taken a behavioral at the FBI Academy, she gave a false front. with a demeaning attitude. I parked in the handicap zone and carried two suitcases, three medium size carry on bags. I had to carry my luggage up stairs (no elevator) which I maneuvered up two and down one set of stairs. I lost control of my luggage as I entered, an exited the hotel. I had to rest awhile before I started to drive. The bed needed to be replaced a few years ago. I'm really disappointed
Easy to locate. Close to amenities. Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean room with plenty of amenities including coffee maker. Juice, fruit, coffee and danish for breakfast included in the price. Very pleasant stay.
The hotel was very clean, with nice ammenities in the room, e.g. granite countertops in the bathroom, etc. The location is great as it is a nice walk to Fisherman's Warf. All-in-all, a great value. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The room was renovated very nicely. Did not expect an older hotel like this to be so nice! The room was also clean and roomy. No bad point but would recommend a non-slip surface in the shower.
Breakfast and staff friendiliness
Meticulously clean. Nice and comfortable. Great value for money. Too far away from Cannery Row.
Clean rooms and good lokacion nice staff
Value for money. Small, but warm pool. Not far from ocean (2-3 km). Close to highway, but quiet. Very poor breakfast.
Clean rooms; free parking and the room was large enough. Swimming pool could have been heated in the cold Montery climate. Breakfast could have included a couple of more items.
Very quiet location and comfortable bed. There was hair in the shower drain, the carpets were dirty. I had to leave early (7:15am) for a long drive home. I booked this hotel becuz they also included continental breakfast, which would be good for grab and go. But no such thing. The area was locked up tight. The coffee that was in the room was enuf for ONE 8oz cup. That did not get me Very far, Also,Most TV channels, including the HBO,had "too weak a signal" to view. For the price I was mostly disappointed. I like to get what is promised.
super friendly staff lack of paper goods in the room when we arrived, little toilet paper on the roll and only one tissue left in the container
rooms were clean, very friendly staff, good wifi, close to downtown
The staff was very friendly and helpful and accommodating There was no jacusi tub
The room The parking
Hotel does not have spa or sauna. Employee told me they are supposed to tell people it is temporary down but in fact has been down for a long time and they have no plan to fix it. Thin walls. Nice breakfast.
The room was nice, updated, clean and the breakfast great it was close to tourist attractions in Monterey I was very disappointed in that kayak website advertised the hotel included a spa and sauna and when we arrived it had neither. We booked the hotel specifically for the spa.
I loved the bed, very comfy! Floors were hard wood, loved that too. Clean! The room was very small but again, very comfortable and very clean. I will definitely stay again!
Beds Pillows. Very clean Breakfast room too small.
Room was clean and neat and staff helpful. Noisy with thin walls. People talking kept us up until 3:00am
It was close to the town of Monterey and its attractions. The Wi-Fi didn't work and the continental breakfast was sub par.
Staff was accomodating and responded well to any concerns. Bathroom could be cleaner and one room smelled like mold. Was able to move to another room.
The location was reasonable and having wifi in the rooms was a plus. The staff were very unfriendly and spoke a limited amount of English. Breakfast consisted of a few muffins and cereal that you have to get from the front office and carry to your room b/c there's nowhere to sit. More important, the price was way too high for that kind of hotel.
Staff was helpful and attentive. Clean and nice beds. Ok location... Between seaside and monterey The walls were dirty.. The room was run down and a maid dumped mop water in front of my door both days... One time splashing my babies swing. There was pounding all day because there is a sports gym behind the hotel
Great Stay For So Cheap, Was super tired and needed a cheap motel, really pulled through. Walls Are Very Thin, You Can Hear Everything Next Door.
nothing This was literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I left 1 hour after checking in and spent an additional $300 to book another hotel. I took pictures of how disgusting the room was, as well as the fact that the bed was certainly not a queen as advertised. Honestly, we did not get what we were promised, and even if we had it was so dirty and disgusting that we really should get a refund. It was THAT BAD. This place was THE WORST. If I were Kayak, I would take them off your listings so that this doesn't happen to someone else as well.
The service was good, I love the fact that it was very close to everything, specially the beach. terrible parking..there was no place to park...we had to park on a non-parking area.
parking was bad .....the grounds between parking and hotel had trash piled up
I like the fact that it was affordable and it was cleaner than expected.... There's really nothing that I didn't like about the hotel except for the breakfast...i'm diabetic and everything that was being offered was too sweet for me
Helpful staff allowed us to check in early, which was very useful. Although our friends had a coffee-maker in their room, we did not have one in ours. We would have thought this should be standard to all rooms.
The beds were very confortable and I like the fact that there was a fridge and coffee maker. Heating was excellent especially since it was quite cold that night. The receptionist could have been a little friendlier or persoanble. It's like I was just another "number" checking in. They could also serve the "continental breakfast" in another room rather than the check in office which barely fits 4 to 5 adults at a time (standing).
The noise from other rooms up above all night.
They do offer “breakfast” but its just a coffee and some packed sweet cake. The hotel room was ok, but expensive for its standard. Its just a motel and they should be cheaper than the priced we paid. The reason I would not suggest this hotel is that our room was not very clean. I found hair in the bathroom and in the shower, the bed cover had a blood stain on it that did not make the room feel clean at all. Of all the motel that are in this area I would search for another one next time I visit.
price was good, staff was pleasant, room was clean window did not lock
Nice and clean motel. Appearence was good also.
It was clean and very quiet - no traffic, trains, etc. The free wireless was nice plus. Room included a kitchenette but no utensils/plates/glasses. No ice bucket or bag to get free ice by office, also no hair dryer. Office closed by 10 pm and didn't open again until 9 am (after we were gone for the day).
Location was close to event, wifi was adequate, friendly staff Smelly room, old towels, cheap bedding, dated fixtures, no in-room coffee, no lobby coffee, limited lobby hours, no continental breakfast, no premium tv channels, high cost/ rate for lower quality hotel and lack of amenities. Will not stay here again and will not recommend to anyone.
Actually, nothing it appeared to be build in the sixty. felt like a motel 8. would not stay there again. price was too high for this place. $39.99 would be more like it. would not recommend to anyone. it has a smell about it. The bed was comfortable and fireplace.
I booked it because I thought the fireplace would make for a cozy room. It did not meet my expectations.
Staff was pleasant. It is in need of a makeover. Very worn furniture. Dirty, stained carpet. It is the first hotel that I have stayed in which there were sewn patches on the pillowcases. Toilet seat needs to be replaced.
