The family-run Albergo Dei Leoni is set in Monterotondo in the countryside surrounding the Eternal City of Rome. Enjoy true Italian hospitality at this welcoming hotel in a tranquil setting. The hotel is strategically located less than 1km from the railway station where you can take the train to Rome and only 3km from the Rome-Florence motorway. Monterotondo is a charming town on the hills overlooking the Tiber Valley. It benefits from a mild climate and the hills are full of vineyards which produce excellent wines. Enjoy a selection of these fine wines at the trattoria of Albergo Dei Leoni, one of the most popular and renowned restaurants in town. Here you can try some local specialities as well as some exquisite homemade desserts.
The location was close to our friends and close to stores, restaurants and transit system. The breakfast choices were good, excellent cappuccino.
The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. Other than that we were happy with our room except that we overlooked the square and it is quite noisy at night. We liked to sleep with the window open but sometimes it was too noisy. The stairs to get to our room are extremely steep!
Polite staff, very itallian-style hotel, silent nights (no highways or traffic nearby), clean air, covered parking, free wifi in the lobby, cosy town, not far from Rome and easy straight road to piazza Spagna (ab.20 min by car)
rooms 1 to 8 are only accessible through the restaurant
There were only two things that we liked during our stay at the Albergo Dei Leoni: 1) the local ice cream and 2) one staff person was very helpful.
Things we did not like about our hotel: 1) The hotel is far from the station with the only transportation available being buses. If you are too late (the last bus runs at 9:45pm) then it is approximately a 45 minute walk to the hotel. 2) It's at least a half-hour train ride into Rome. 3) Aside from one staff person, the hotel staff seemed unable to do the simplest tasks (i.e., putting through a credit card payment). 4) The free wireless internet is only accessible in the lobby. 5) There is minimal offered for the breakfast.
Good value for price. Good food in restaurant.
Staff speeks poorly English.
The hotel is located in the centre of the little town monterotondo, which is charming but not as beautiful as the more famous tuscan towns. The town is a workers town and a lot of people that life there work in Rome during the day.It has a train station with a direct train line into rome and also to the airport (FCO). To get to the train one would most likely have to take a bus or use a rental car. The hotel itself was fine, good value for your money, the breakfast was nothing special but good enough to start your day, in the lounge there was free wifi connection. The rooms were clean and simple. Overall a good alternative to the expensive hotels in rome itself
Our room was above the main entrance and it was quite load at night as people were standing under our room to smoke and talk.
Convenient for the centre of town and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The town is somewhat disappointing with limited eating options.
