A queen size, 4 poster bed in the master bedroom, 2 doubles in the library room, a single that converts to a queen, and a sofa that converts to a queen also which is perfect for movie night or for a crowd of kids. A well stocked, completely new kitchen and a wonderful garden with direct river access. There is a vine covered pergola with a full complement of garden furniture for all your outdoor moments, along with a grill.There is gas central heat and a wood stove with a view of a fire, for when you need to be inside and warm. There is a good stock of DVD's for the large Flat screen TV, with satellite channels, WiFi and phone, as a recent additions.There is a new radio/CD player with some cd's and a second radio that has MP3 player capabilities if you have your Ipod, or smart phone with you for all of your own music at your fingertips.
Our charming house is just a short 5 minute walk from the centre of this lovely medieval town. To the front of the house is a small fenced garden with locking gate, therefor making it safe for children. Entering the house you will find a modern kitchen with plenty of work space, and a full range of utilities, including; gas cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, large fridge freezer, kettle toaster, microwave, crockery and cutlery. The lounge is very comfortable with L shaped corner settee (which pulls out into large double bed if required) leather bucket style chair, large flat screen TV with English free view, DVD and CD player, and a large selection of DVD.s and CD.s at your disposal. This room also has French doors which lead out onto a lovely balcony where you will find Bistro style table and chairs, an ideal place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views of the church and lovely garden, or even a bit of star gazing. The house has two bedrooms, one with standard double bed, and the other with bed settee which would comfortably sleep two children or one adult. The bathroom is of adequate size, and has shower, wash basin and toilet to the norm. The garden is accessed via steps to the left of the front door, and is slightly terraced with a gentle slope. It is completely laid to lawn, and has a huge old cherry tree at the centre, which can provide some welcomed shade on a hot sunny day. There is also a lovely patio area, with adjacent garden room, where you will find Table and chairs, BBQ and sun loungers etc. There is no smoking in the house, but guests are welcome to smoke on the balcony, or in garden room. All bed linen and towels will be provided. There are several ways of getting here, for people wanting to fly, the nearest airports are Limoges, which is 46 miles (1 hour and 6 minutes), and Poitiers, which is 37 miles (53 minutes) with car hire available at both airports. You can also take a ferry from either Saint Malo, Caen, or Cherbourg, which are an average of 4 to 5 hours drive from the house. Another option is to travel by train as there is a station right here in Montmorillon with a link from Paris, so even possible to take the euro star into Paris, and then pick up your connection which will bring you straight here. The medieval and historic town of Montmorillon is just a short stroll (5 minutes) from the house, and is known as the (cite l`ecrit) city of literature. It hosts about 100 shops to browse around and enjoy, at least 20 of these being colourful shops such as book sellers, calligraphers, and other crafts linked to books. The town also offers literary courses, and many exhibitions. You will also find many cafes and restaurants offering traditional cuisine, and local specialities; also Indian and Thai, should you fancy something a little more spicy. Montmorillon hosts many events, shows and sport activities throughout the summer, and also has a lovely swimming baths, both indoor and open air, which again is just a 5 minute stroll from the house. Rafting is also available just 8 miles (13 minutes) away in the Gorges du Roc d`enfer, which is near Lathus St Remy, or you could take the opportunity to visit the famous Futuroscope, which is only 50 kilometres away. All in all, this is a very comfortable house and provides an excellent location for exploring the lovely department of Vienne with it´s many attractions. The house is available from 1st April until 31st October, so book early to avoid disappointment, and we will look forward to seeing you during the summer.

La Brasserie is on the outskirts of the charming medieval town of Montmorillon, in Vienne , which is part of the Poitou Charentes region of France. It is a 19th century house with lovely high ceilings, authentic original marble fireplaces, large windows and furnishings to suit the period and large proportions. We provide a Quality & Eco-friendly service. We are an hours drive away from Poitiers and Limoges Airports and Boulogne is just over 6 hours drive. Loft Apartment [105 m²] blends the old with new in a complementary style. We have kept the lovely oak roof supports exposed, in the large main room [living, dining room and kitchen], whereas the 2 bedrooms and shower room retain the light, bright and comfortable atmosphere, but are not so high. It is a spacious flat of, which can easily accommodate it's maximum of 5 people. Tables and chairs are in the garden, so that you can eat a meal or just sit and relax when you like. For the Apartment the main entrance of the house is used, whereas we have a separate entrance for our own accommodation. Montmorillon is a beautiful historic town with the river Gartempe meandering through it and many chapels and churches to explore. Archaeological remains suggest it has been occupied since pre-historic times. The charming medieval centre has been restored “ Cité de l’Ecrit ” [“city of writing”] and it is well worth wandering around the streets looking into the book and calligraphy shops, or sitting having a drink and watch the world go by. Market day [Wednesday] is a good day to visit the town, because the sleepy town seems to wake up. All the facilities you could wish for are in Montmorillon: restaurants, cafés, tea rooms, shops, supermarkets, banks, post office, doctors, pharmacies and more. We are in the Poitou Charentes area, in the charming Vienne region of France, which has medieval towns, pretty villages, chateaux, fields of sunflowers and maize, large rivers and valleys, woodlands, an abundance of wildlife and of course gourmet food. There are some beautiful walks locally, which have distinctive signs and maps, from the tourist office, to follow. There are lakes and rivers that have man made beaches for swimming, as well as fishing, kayaking, water skiing, wind surfing and sailing. There are many other outdoor pursuits: horse riding, golf, bungee jumping, micro lighting, 4x4 off roading and motor racing. There are many places to see: from amazing architecture at L’Abbaye de St Savin and the relaxing square it is in; to Angles sur l’Anglin with it’s ruined fortress on the hill and the pretty village with antique shops, restaurants and cafés and then there is Vienne’s historic and vibrant Poitiers with good restaurants, sightseeing and shopping, which is under an hours drive.
