very good value price; confortable; cleaning; professional staff; excellent breakfast nothing
Nice place. In walking distance from the teleferic. Clean.
Very clean. No elevator. . Breakfast was an extra 5 Euros. Was farther away from centre of town than we expected. Missed the last funiculaire at night . Would have appreciated a timetable of its schedule.
Big rooms, big bathrooms; very clean; very quiet (6 cars and 2 pedestrians passed by in between 21h and 23h; there's a fridge in the room. It is a bit up a hilly street, so 100m going up with suitcases. Not a problem for us tough.
Extremely friendly staff, a modern and immaculately clean room with spacious bathroom in a beautiful, quiet setting with the additional extra of a balcony. Very conveniently located - the funicular railway is a 2-minute walk away with a regular service. Excellent value for money.
The staff were very helpful.
Nice and clean hotel with serviceminded and friendly staff. Recently refurbished rooms. The hotel was situated just below Orvieto but it was very easy to take the closely situated funicular to the city.
Location in quiet residential area , outside space with good views and secure parking in basement. room could have been slightly larger for 4 people
A small family run hotel where the hosts took great pride in their establishment. Friendly staff, good breakfast and located close to the station.
the room was large and renewed. plenty parking in the street.very freindly manager. i persanly prefer not continental breakfast.
It was convenient to the A1 autostrada and town of Orvieto. It was old and unrefurbished for many years, dirty, and had insects.
Good location for our trip. We open th hot water and only after 20 mintues the hot water arrived. The room was cold. We hear the next door people all night.
Spacious room, two windows and terrace just out the door off the hallway.
great location, nice room and staff
friendly staff great location
Lovely room with tiny balcony. In convenient location. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff.
The hotel is located in the very centre on the main street Corso. Just 2 minutes to the Cathedral, public parking is very close which is a very important thing in Orvieto. Very close to all the sights and shops.
Very friendly staff, attractive room, good location, good breakfast. Provided a crib without confusion. Bathroom a bit run-down, AC didn't seem to work.
We both loved the wonderful view, the balcony and the pittoresque surroundings in the heart of Orvieto old city. The room was clean, all facillities in order and the atmosphere very relaxing. We stayed one night but wished we had planned for moore. I greatly recommend Hotel Corso to anyone seeking a romantic or peaceful stay in Umbria. The breakfast is okey for a small Hotel, but do not expect the full warm "American" breakfast you get in larger or more expensive alternatives. This however gives you the opportunity to enjoy the Etruscan cucina for an early lunch.
Orvieto is a terific venue for a visit Room was small and air conditioning was ineffective
Hotel Building had good character. Outside terrace would have been good if it wasn't raining... Staff levels were inadequate - when I checked out, there was no one at reception and a group of people waiting.
convenience to everything
The rooms were spacious. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was closed when we were there, and we didn't have a vehicle. The rooms were noisy.
Very pleasant room at a low price. The public areas were very spacious with extensive use of marble. It's quite a long walk, uphill, to Orvieto. There is a bus, but it does not run often. But if you have a car, the location is no problem. When we were there, in October, the restaurant and bar were not open but one evening they made us dinner anyway..
Very comfortable and very inexpensive Directions to the hotel were a bit obscure
very good hotel, in fact I am booking it for a large party next summer the walls of the rooms are extremely thin and you can hear everything! Because of the time of year, later September there were not many in the hotel consequently, there was no restaurant
Breakfast Very difficult to find. The directions are poor.
Good situation, near to Orvieto, large rooms, plenty of space in bathroom. Staff helpful. Big car park. Hotel used to be a seminary and is still used for regular conferences of local priests. When they descend on the place, the paying guests have to fight for parking space! This happened on two of the four nights we stayed. Hotel has a restaurant, but this was closed in mid October.
Very helpful staff, large room with comfy bed and fair sized bathroom. Beautiful view from the window. the evening meal was expensive and poor. It was the end of the season so it would appear that they were not expecting many guests but my sirloin steak was chewy and tough. In fairness the cook did try to give me something else to compensate. I couldn't understand her and she didn't speak English but she seemed genuinely upset that I had not been satisfied.
As previous comments have said the room was noisy but if you are looking for a hotel close but not in Orvieto and you have a car it is good for one night.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Ants and beetles in our room. The restaurant was closed both evenings.
This hotel was very reasonably priced for the accommodations, it just happened to be in a rundown area of town.
Located in the center of the old Ovieto, restaurants and all sites are in walking distance. Close to the highway to Rome it is also a good stop-over. The room under the roof was stuffy and apparently "seldom" used; it felt like it was reserved for low price booking.com. Also reserved a parking but they left the car on the street (with all the luggage).
The staff are really very welcoming (I cannot stress that enough); carrying bags, providing breakfast after hours - really wonderful. Great location - ten yards from Piazza della Repubblica and impossible to miss from the entrance to the old city. Air conditioning could do with a regas (or a lower temperature, at least), and the internet was a bit slow at times. Otherwise, all wonderful.
Location was great. Room decor was minimal. Had to walk through a class room to get to the wing where our room was located. Breakfast was ok, standard items. Ok but nothing to write home about. A/C was minimal. It would finaly cool the room at about 8am. If you like to sleep naked then it is fine for you.. I live in the south, in a hot muggy climate and felt the hotel was very hot. No A/C in common areas. Ceiling was strange.... 12' to be able to view the frescos but 8' in the bathroom... I think we lost a lot of A/C to the ceiling hight.
Nice looking, clean rooms; accommodating personnel; great locaton in a wonderful, picturesque town.
Location very good for touring Orvieto. Bus stop for Finuacular train 150 metres away. Close by restaurants, shops.
This place was like a little oasis and by far the best place we stayed at on our trip. Gorgeous rooms and facilities, yummy breakfast and staff that went far over and above to help us out. Highly recommended!
I liked the overall ambiance of the hotel. It is quite picturesque. Breakfest is well done. Street noise is unbearable. Matresses are terrible. Hotel is dramatically overpriced.
helpful staff, lovely historic town location,on site parking rooms facing street are noisy
Attractive, centrally located, excellent helpful staff, romantic setting, and gelato across the street. Good decor and wonderful breakfast. No
Efficient, polite staff Improve cleanliness of patio
It's location is very good for a visit to Orvieto. Just 1/2 block from cathedral and in sight of it, but on a quieter street. Nothing.
Location, pleasant staff. Having to leave your keys at the front desk when you leave was a little bit strange, but Orvieto is a small town and it would be unrealistic to expect the hotel to upgrade to modern keycards that can be reprogrammed etc such that there is no security concern.
awesome hotel in unbelievable location right next to the most beautiful cathedral in Europe - we could see it from the room !
A classy boutique-type hotel with a very contemporary feel to it, which was not out of place with traditional building. Excellent position. Helpful staff. Not easy to find by car; follow the signs to the Duomo HOTEL (not Duomo) and forget the Sat Nav.
Hotel was in great location for seeing the entire city. Staff was very nice and helpful. Clean and nice The room was very noisy. You could hear people walking and talking in the halls as though they were in your room.
This hotel was outstanding. It is family owned and operated. Breakfast was great, restaurant recommendations were outstanding and it has secure parking nearby. We highly recommend this hotel. No.
we enjoyed our stay and would go back. the staff was very friendly and attentive.
very nice location
The staff was very accomodating. I had faided to sak for twin beds, but they managed to give me a room that had twin beds, even thought they were fully booked.
Excellent location very near the Duomo. The hotel seems to have been recently renovated. My room was comfortable, everything worked, and the staff very pleasant. Even the breakfast was good. I would stay there again. At breakfast, what they called orange juice was red and tasted a fruit bunch from a powder mix. Get the grapefruit juice instead.
There existed some bugs in the room...
was near the road
it's way further out than the bookiung map shows --about a mile from the stazione. Other than that, it's a fine value for little money.
Close to the highway and Bolsano lake.
the only thing good for this hotel is its location near the absolutely beautiful city of Orvieto We have staied in better youth hostels. It could hardely bee a 2 -star. Very low level, awful breakfast.
Nice lady behind the desk. Speaks good english. Hotel is located between two railways. Also lots of noise from the road in front of the hotel.
Flexible and polite staff It was not known the room is very noisy having a busy train line and road in front of it
The staff was incredibly courteous and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. It was a bit far from the train station and the bus was not as regular as we had hoped.
Staff was really kindly. Location, it was little bit far from city center if you don't have a car.
The restaurant was amazing as was the setting of the hotel restaurant. Excellent meal. The room did not meet our expectations at all! The bed was nothing more than a mattress on springs, much like a cot. The room was very plain and did not at all suit the rest of the hotel's atmosphere. I was rather disappointed and would not stay there again or recommend it based on the room.
This hotel is a spectacular old abbey with terrific photo opportunities. Location was great with a panorama of Orvietto on the top of the cliff. The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable of the history of the abbey. The restaurant was also excellent and we enjoyed watching the chef grill our dinner in the huge open fire place with lots of panache. In spite of the air conditioning, our room was too warm.
The monastery setting was fabulous, even better than the website portrayed. The buildings and grounds were exceptional; very interesting and authentic. In fact, it is the most interesting place I've ever stayed.
LaBadia is in a beautiful setting. Added to the fact that you are staying at a very old monastery complete with tower and walls 4 feet thick - I don't see how anyone wouldn't have a relaxing time here. Wonderful gourmet restaurant as an option after a long day traipsing through the countryside. Nice bar/coffee bar to enjoy early morning and later in the day. The staff was very helpful and polite, the linens were very nice. Breakfast buffet was included and was good - there were plenty of options available including cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, pancetta, cheese and breads. The rooms and bathroom felt a little dated but clean.
Quiet Hotel was primitve in some respects and could do with a renovation - Head waiter seemed to be reluctant to work. Restuarant expensive for what was on offer.
close to motorway--easy to find
Lcation convenient to Autostrada and Old Town Location let down by busy train line across the road, but otherwise very good
It was easy to arrive to the hotel by car.
we arrived late at night, the man at the desk didnt know a word in english!the room was so cold,it took a long time to heat and we where with a small child.very poor breakfest.very bad value for money
location, price our floor was under renovation and appearance could have been better on walls, etc.
It is between two rainway lines that operate all night. Walls very thin and can here tv all night from one side and snoring form the other
We only slept one night, on our way to Venice. For this purpose the hotel was fine.
We stayed for one night on the way to Rome. It was very comfortable to see Orvieto during the day and to leave early in the morning. The stuff was very friendly and the room was very clean and looked like it was renovated recently. A very noisy train that passed from time to time, the railroad is not very far. Breakfast was poor.
Hotel Orvietto is easy to find, close to the motorway. Our room was clean and comfortable thought the top covers on the beds had seen better days. The hotel is well placed to venture a little further into the medieval town of Orvietto and I would urge everyone to do so as it is a spectactular town with enormous charm and character and only ten mins from the hotel. Good to have air conditioning and the room had a clean fully functioning bathroom ensuite. The breakfast was perfectly acceptable though you have to walk through the office corridor and down some stairs to get to it which is a little odd. It is not in a very beautiful location itself - dual carriageway, the railway and some sort of depot but this hotel is perfect for a stopover.
Very serviceminded staff. Easy to park the car. Near the railwaystation and city of Orvieto. As a hotelguest you have 10 % discount in a very fair restaurant just 150 meters far from the hotel. The breakfast is OK. Situated between 2 railways and one highway in the near, it wasn´t easy to cut off the noice from the traffic during the nights.
the resturant attached was a postive added value. the inkeeper was very accomidating for minor changes in our reservation a bit more of a hike from the train station than the map would suggest and the was a fair amount of street noise late at night if the window was left open for cooling
Friendly staff; very clean room; fairly close to the 'treno funiculare' to the centre of Orvieto, which offers a convenient and cheap ride uphill it is on a very noisy street, so it is difficult to have the windows open during the night, but the aircon works well and you can open a large window in the bathroom on the backside
The room was well appointed and maintained...very nice bed and furnishings. The breakfast was very nice... We had to park in a garage about a block from the hotel.
In the centre of the town, close to the historic center, quite clean and homely. To noisy.
Staff was extremely hospitable. Food was excellent - breakfast was outstanding. If we had to pick something to complain about it would be the towels. They were very rough.
Service was excellant in the Hotel as well as the restaurant. The food was very good in the restaurant. The location was good for sightseeing in the area.
comfortable room, easy access to publick transportaion and close to autostrada, satisfactory.
The location is just off the autostrade and a short 10-minute walk to the funicular-train that takes you directly up to the ancient, walled city of Orvieto. Our room overlooked the main street, yet traffic was not disturbing. We could see Orvieto sitting high above us on the plateau from our room's window as well. Breakfast was moderate and good. Not really. Just a note: We were unclear about where to park our rental car, and with our limited knowledge of the Italian language, it took us a couple of tries to understand. It turns out where we parked was just where the car could stay all night long.
very modern comfortable and nice rooms, but poor location. good hotel for a short stay on the way. polite staff. the outside design is poor. bad location (on a main road). poor breakfast.
Fantastic service and very very spacious modern comfortable room. Need car
The localition is absolutely wonderful, you have a full view of Orvieto and the surroundings. There are loads of places to go from there. But the best is the place, it is ideal for a family with children. Big spaces for them to run and play. Two swimming pools and a playground. The staff is very friendly and look after you with loads of care. The place is new and done with style. We spent only 4 days there and we felt very, very sad when we had to leave. Definitely, I place to come back in the future.
Very friendly and efficient service. Great views of countryside. Very gracious and enthusiastic staff. Excellent spa. Very nice dinner with excellent service. Very nice breakfast. Not very convenient if you do not have a car. Must rely on taxi to get into the city of Orvieto (and back) with a 10-15 minute wait.
Beatyful place in the countryside, close to and with a nice view towards Orvieto. Good restaurant. Great stay. Will come back!
the room was spacious and comfortable. the views over orvieto were stunning and the restaurant food was very good and imaginative . all in all a very good hotel. be nice to have some bathrobes and slippers.
The friendliness of the staff, the comfortness of the facility, the dining facility, the size of the facility (it was not large and overwhelming). The proximity to Rome airport. It is a good starting or ending point of an extended vacation in Italy. My only bad experience was that the dining room was closed on two days (Sunday and Monday). We looked forward to enjoying the dining experience at the facility rather than having off premesis.
Views were outstanding... the spa looked exceptional & had a great recommendation from 2 women who had attended..... Staff was very personable & had an enjoyable stay.
Everything.....the room was gorgeous, the views were wonderful and the staff was excellent. We loved the spa facilities and the massage was out of this world. Andrea was so helpful with extras. The breakfasts were delicious. I would stay there again in a flash!! Nothing! Everything was first class.
The hotel staff was superb. They did everything that they could to ensure a good stay for guests. In addition, the view was breathtaking and our room was extremely clean and had nice ammenities. All food and wine served at the hotel was locally grown.
The breakfast was superb, with wonderful service.
Considering this hotel had very few reviews on the web, we went in with really no expectations (good nor bad). Much to our surprise the hotel was located in the main piazza, almost touching the impressive Duomo. The hotel staff were wonderful, the breakfast was fantastic, location was perfect, price was excellent and the cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding. I would highy recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Orvieto.
Family run. Caring, delightful staff. Beautiful location looking out at the Duomo. Lovely. Having to leave.
view from our clean airy room overlooking duomo fantastic warm welcome great restaurant recommendation la pergola
the location - near the arena not really
Clean, quiet, low key, in an excellent location, and with friendly and helpful staff The bed was a European size single, and looked laughably small when I first saw it, but was very comfortable and adequate. The shower was tiny, but again, very adequate and functional.
Clean, modern and well run Needs better signage along the way to find it
Good service. Location difficult for easy access to eating places.
proximity to Orvieto; very updated facility gettin there! directions from mapquest, michelin, and GPS were not clear
beautiful clean new rooms good size excellent bathroom very friendly family run place. were willing to drive us whereever we wanted to go as was raining heavily most of the time we were there. happy to recommend it to anyone. nothing
It was very clean and the staff was very helpful. It was hard to find the hotel because the sigh of the hotel was not the on the place for the driver to find. Its address was not on my GPA.
Facilities are lovely and the location in Orvieto is excellent. However, maintenance is lacking (our safe and hairdryer didn't work and there was a layer of dust on the furniture) and front desk service is not customer friendly. They will respond when asked, but offer no proactive help. Front desk staff are "standoffish;" they will respond when asked, but offer no proactive help. In fact, they barely acknowledge a customer's presence when one walks right by them...many times daily.
Lovely hotel. Staff spoke English and were very helpful. Breakfast was very nice with good variety and the breakfast room was very spacious and comfortable. We were traveling by train and the hotel was in a very easy to access location by funicular and walking. If you have trouble with steps, you should specifically ask for a room on a floor with the lift. This hotel would be pretty much perfect if they got better pillows.
Walking in the town and countryside. Visiting Duomo and other sites of interest Breakfast was unimaginative
The location in the old Orvieto is excelent. There is so much to see just walking around the town, the narrow streets, the Duomo, the shops and restaurants are all interesting. The caves tour is a must also.
This is a good hotel very centrally located close to the Corso in Orvieto. The rooms are clean and pleasant and the staff efficient. The view across the rooftops from my room was the nicest thing about the hotel. The sound of church bells every 15 minutes throughout the night is one of the appealing aspects of Orvieto but bring earplugs if you want to sleep! I did not find the staff particularly warm or welcoming compared to other hotels I stayed in on this trip around Tuscany. While billed as 4 star it lacks the feel of a 4 star hotel - the colours and decor are somewhat drab but at the right price it represents reasonable value for money.
only the room and view from the room high charges for wifi
