Great Hotel, really enjoyed our stay.
The health spa and general service by all staff
Excellent hotel standard. Great breakfast selection. Close to Cavan town centre. n/a
Lovely rooms and very comfortable.great sliding door from the bath to the room so you can talk when in the bath.excellent idea..lovely settings on the estate.could not fault the rooms.one of the nicest rooms I've ever seen in a hotel.the great display of breakfast and very good selection. The water in the indoor and outdoor pool was cold and made the spa the down turn of the stay. The outdoor pool is lovely but very cold.all in allthe spa and thermal area was chilly.showers where luke warm at max in the rooms.
Loved the Junior Suite that we stayed in for three days. Also the Spa.
Mattresses were too hard for our liking
Surroundings, design, location are all what you'd hope. Restaurant was good. I would not recommend this hotel for a family holiday. Children are not allowed into the swimming pool, which is part of the spa. That's fine as long as you know about it beforehand, which I didn't. I searched the Radisson SAS website later and still couldn't find any reference to this, thought it may be there. Another negative point is the parking. You need to park about 300m from the hotel and take a shuttle bus to the doors. Most inconvenient, but at least it didn't rain at any point while we did this. I had some notice of this from locals, at least. Once you know about these items, and are prepared for them, you can expect a good experience.
The spa and swimming pool were excellent, rooms were lovely. The dinner menu in the restaurant was not of quite the same standard as the rest of the hotel. However the Sunday lunch was excellent.
The use of the Spa Treatment Centre ie. the sauna, steam rooms, foot baths, indoor/outdoor pool it was amazing.
The amenities - walks, spa
Superb food Charge of 11 euro for what we thought was standard tap water in restaurant
It was clean and spacious The menu for the evening meals was limited
I loved the court yard rooms No entertainment at night
Spacious clean comfortable room in cool surroundings Old fashioned bathroom
Castle was warm, breakfast was good. Cottage was a bit of a walk from hotel - in the snow this was not the best.
Great hotel. Feels historic. Great place for a wedding and the food is excellent
the room was very comfortable, clean and warm. the selection of wine in the bar was extremely poor, only one wine and not a very nice one. i found this very dissapointing. The breakfast was nice but two slices of toast between 4 people was very tight, and a cup of tea each not even a pot of tea to share.
Staff member at reception was very helpful and very professional. the setting of the hotel was magnificent.
Nicely decorated, very spacious and clean and comfortable.Food was very good. Staff very helpful. Windows were a bit draughty
Cottage room bedrooms were lovely, the bed was the comfiest i have ever slept in! Didnt realise the cottage rooms were so far away from the castle itself (there for a wedding reception and so the walk back was very cold an ddark!!)
the staff were very friendly & helpful the duvet wasnt as clean as it should have been. The bed was just a small double bed (for 2 people) & the rooms were very small - almost difficult to open the bathroom room as the space was so tight
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The weather was awful, but that's just Ireland. For a person not driving, it is not too convenient to much.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The fact that they did not cater for my needs in respect of providing a gluten free breakfast although this had been requested at time of booking and on check-in.
Staff helped carry my luggage upstairs without being asked. When i needed help with directions they did their best.
The staff Breakfast wasn't included
Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere The room was too hot in the morning and there was a slightly damp smell in the hall outside our room.
breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff and waitress were lovely value for money room was small and was not worth the price
Very welcoming staff. Good food. Advertised as free wifi but only given a voucher for 1 hour. Don't order the sizzling fajitas - they may set the fire alarm off!
The hotel is stunning, the staff are great, the food is excellent and its beautifully decorated.
The staff were very helpfull and we had a very enjoyable few days. Service was good rooms were clean and bathrooms a big improvement on the last time we stayed there. Will be back.
I least liked the fact that I was charged €20 more through booking.com than was advertised in the room. I had contacted them before using booking,.com and had been told they had no free rooms. The decor was very dated and I did not feel it was very clean. The breakfast was poor. I ordered tomotoes off their menu and they were clearly tinned. I had never seen this before.
The staff were friendly and willing to help if needed or left you to your own devices.
very nice stay run by a super friendly couple
They were a very fiendly and helpful couple
Very welcoming. A proper homely stay. A sort of access all areas house where guests are made part of the fabric. Nice spot in the country with free-range dogs adding to the friendly mix. Catherine and Sean make sure you have all you need and the breakfast was lovely. Trying to find it was fun! The satnav readings were out so we toured the district before we found it; luckily it is a beautiful area. The local pub, the Flying Saucer, was not very welcoming and the food was the down side of mediocre (shame considering that all our meals in Eire had been gorgeous up till then) fortunately they're giving up doing food this week.
This was without the worst experience I've had in 20 years of staying in hotels. I want to premise this review by saying that the staff were very helpful and courteous. Their talents would be suited to a better establishment. 1. This is a pub with b&b, not a hotel. 2. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment. I rang upon booking to make sure that noise wouldn't be an issue. I was told that the apartment was at the back of premises and shouldn't interfere with us. our apartment and b&b rooms were situated directly off a courtyard at the back of the pub. this was also their smoking room. Consequently we had 30 people directly outside our door 'til 2am. My 3 kids were terrified with the offensive language and people falling against the (glass) door. When the area was eventually cleared, we had the noise of the staff cleaning up until 3am. 3. Our apartment was damp where the heating obviously hadnt been on in months. 4. No hot water in the apartment, had to ask and then the staff put on the heating. This still didnt give us hot water. The ad on Booking.com is misleading. Avoid this dump at all costs!
the location in the centre of Oldcastle, close to good pubs, beautiful countgryside, interesting historical sites and proximity to Dublin city, less than one hours drive on exvellent roads. the rooms were large, well furnished and comfortable, with the excellent bathroom. staff were hellpful and friendly. we could not find a fault. the breakfast was cooked to order, the coffee excellent and overall wonderful value. Highly recommended.
