Charming olde world style - staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast room charming and selection more than adequate. Use of Internet most helpful. Position in the city excellent for sight seeing, access to the Rhine Ferry and all points of interest.
The staff was extremely helpful in pointing out places to go and things to see. The rooms were very pleasant and comfortable.
Very convenient for old town. Lovely breakfast room, tastefully decorated in keeping with original style. Excellent breakfast.
Location to Rhine. Ideal for short stop over Severe step up to shower / toilet cubicle
convenience to the old town and the Rhein Boats could do with a mini bar and /or tea's made/ coffee
The hotel is conveniently located near the shopping areas and Deutsches Eck, Since we were interested in visiting Koblenz' Christmas Market, it was an excellent choice.. Bathroom was very small.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly, greeting you as you came and went from your room. For the price we paid for the room I have no complaints.
great location good breakfast too early check out time staff does not speak english fluently
Excellent location; fabulous breakfast
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room location was excellent. No air conditioning
Upon arrival, well after the time rooms were meant to be ready, it wasn't, then there was a lack of communication between staff @ changeover which meant we sat waiting longer than necessary - this was the only negative!!
sorrounding the room size is far far too tight
We had a lovely large airy corner room. The staff were helpful and patient with our poor German. Dinner was very good and it was the best breakfast buffet on our trip. Free internet access on their computer.
Pleasant, quiet location with an excellent on site restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Could be difficult to find without GPS
Modern comfortable hotel in quiet location
Nice view from the room, very good restaurant quality and magnificent breakfast area. Long distance from the city center.
Good breakfast. We surprisingly had a nice apartment with a kitchenette. Not in the city, but you could easily reach Mainz by bus (although it's not so frequent).
We were just passing through the area, so just stayed the one night. Clean and tidy but beds uncomfortable. Picturesque location with vineyards all around and the River Mosel just at the bottom of the hill. Not much English spoken, if any. Only took breakfast at the hotel, had our evening meal down near the river for half the price!
All staff that we met could speak good English and gave very good service Only that we found it noisy because of several large group events happening in hotel over the week
facility was excellent and staff was very hospitable. nothing
A nicely appointed and clean hotel with character and in very peaceful and pleasant grounds. The hotel was decorated with original paintings and had a classy feel to it. Finding the hotel may have been difficult without satnav but there was ample parking. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was very clean, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. Value for money. The room could offer a little bit more comfort ( everything is there, but basic)
The general appearance of the building and the beautiful guest lounge The ultra modernised bedrooms which were clinical, being all white and sparsely furnished
Quiet, pleasant location. Terrace and gardens. Noisy door locks and latches and slamming doors echo around what is a large old building. Evening meals/snacks, good quality but pricey.
The rooms are all on the second floor and there is no lift, so if you have a problem with stairs this is not the hotel for you. Other than that this is one of my favourite hotels. It’s not perfect but I rate it 10 out of 10 because once I get here I can completely relax. The food is excellent and the staff are genuinely friendly.
Hotel staff. location (green and peace) It is a little bit tricky find the hotel... but with a Tom tom you can go everywhere...
The location was excellent. It was quiet and great for exploring the Rhine and Mosel regions. Manager was outstanding and very helpful in all respects. Pillows were very poor, but were replaced immediately upon request. Heating was also inadequate.
Nothing Hotel did not offer Facilities as advertised. Resturant was closed. Themed room Morroco was with Swedish Furniture Albiet ratan the only morrocan feel was the casablanca movie picture one wall mirror and 3 small camels on top of the ikea style wardrobe.
We booked 2 bedrooms, we arrived at around 20:00, I had a very nice bedroom however my collegue received a very low quality bedroom in the cellar without window, we asked to change however the hotel was fully booked, they booked another hotel for us but gave us the wrong address, took us 1 hour to find hotel, very bad experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!
We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent. Nothing to complain about - all good.
I liked the friendliness. Also a very good breakfast end a room as axpexted for this price. The restaurant was that oldfashioned that you weren't tempted.
Our room was very nice and spacious with two balconies overlooking the Rhine river. We were right above the promenade. Also, the beds are adjustable and very comfortable. The train noise from across the river was annoying and it runs until 11:30 pm and then starts back up at around 4 a.m. Also, there were a few late night folks on the promenade and they made a lot of noise when they returned to the hotel at around 3 a.m.
River view No
Their location and efficiency of the hotel operations
Conveniance to Rhine river and nearby city Internet service was poor - paid Euro8 for 24 hours got about one hour. PC could access network but network could not access internet? Always dropping out signal was weak although our room was close to router. If charges apply service should work properly. In Asia this service is free and works well.
Good view of the Rhine river and the comfort of the beds. Car parking area was to small
Very close to historical landmarks, along pedestrian mall along the Rhine River. An elegant but casual restaurant specializing in regional cuisine was only a few steps away, and a large "platz" (square) with boutique shops was in 5 min walking distance. The hotel parking, behind the building, was very difficult to find, as the hotel faces a pedestrian mall our in-car navigation was no help. We had to park in underground garage a few blocks away - and the lift was out-of-order! More details need to be provided as to exactly how to find Haus Morjan parking.
Excellent location and very clean hotel. If you are planning on taking a boat trip on the Rhine the ship departure is right in front of the hotel. Also within walking distance from the 'German Eck'
Spacious room and great views from balcony. Excellent breakfast. First member of staff I spoke to not very welcoming or helpful on arrival.
Close to the city centre and railway & bus stations. Loved the design and comfort of hotel.
Hotel staff was really helpful and accomodative. Especially, the staff in the front office.
Central position There was no car park; parking was on local car parks which were some distance away and felt insecure
comfort, facilities no
Very nice hotel, very comfortable and relatively quiet. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Short walk to attractions. Internet access was not free, but a very reasonable 3 euro per 24 hours with a strong wireless signal. We loved it and would definitely stay again. Also, Koblenz is a very nice place to visit. We stayed over a weekend so parking at a self-park lot a half block away wasn't really an issue, but not sure how this would be during the week. No air conditioning so you have to depend on window ventilation for warm days.
Hotel has been recently renovated and our room was like new. Location was close to railway station. Staff very helpful No individual bathroom products, no tea and coffee making facilities in room. Internet 3 Euro for 24 hrs
Friendly personnel The heating was off and arriving there in a cold night, it was impossible to warm the room up till the morning. Luckily, the staff provided me with an extra blanket.
Closeness to train station. Friendly staff. Check out at 10:00 seems a little too early.
Small nice hotel, with excelent staff. Rooms were very clean, bathroom equiped on the level of 4 star hotels, such as Holiday Inn, Novotel etc. Shortly - recommended Considering value for money - nothing! This is not Intercontinental, of course, but you don't pay as for Inter, as well. So it was a good value for money (considering European prices and extremely expensive area of Europe - Western Germany)
The hotel's location is very good, opposite to the train station but far enough not to hear the noise. The town center is a few minutes away. It's a nice starting place to visit Zeeland. The bed was very, very soft and had big lumps which made sleeping hard. The hotel is a bit old, in need of refurbishment.
The hotel staff
The room was really an apartment and value for the money was awesome. Staff was very friendly. no complaints
The breakfasts at the Sholtz were very nice. They offered scrambled eggs, ham, cheese and yogert, none of which were offered to us by our subsequent English hotel.
The info center in Koblenz was the most helpful we encoutered. Our hotel was outstanding, the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Two large groups also there but our room was very quiet. Great breakfast. It was a bus/taxi ride from the train station but worth the extra effort.
very friendly and hospitable staff. Good and quite location, clean and tidy rooms none
Warm welcome.Good size room for 3 people. Excellent breakfast. Room could do with modernising. Non smoking room but strong smell of cigarettes.
Nice breakfast, knowledgable staff
Very eclectic set up. Loved the receptionist. Great breakfast. Near grocery store. I didn't go to but saw that there was a pool hall under the hotel. Hmm... only thing I can think of is one think of furnature (a cabinet) didn't open up. Decoration piece?
The front desk staff was very helpful and the breakfast was ok. There was a small pizza parlor 2 doors down and within a half block there was a nice grocery store. There was a bus stop right outside the hotel and the major shopping mall was a short 10 minute ride away. It was a long way from the old town and tourist areas. The elevator was tiny and the rooms needed renovation. It kind of had a run-down old hotel feel to it. There was no hairdryer in the room and was hot without air conditioning. Its' location next door to an old folks home and across the street from a convent was kind of depressing
easy access to town centre. parking for the car and bus service by the front door would have like to have coffee making facilties in the room
Cozy and friendly hotel with its own garage. Thus you don't have to cruise narrow streets looking for a parking. Cost you 6.50 per night. Room is clean and big enough (for the money), everything looks like new. Buffet breakfast has very good selection. We spent only 1 night there but we really enjoed it.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The hotel is located very close to the train station, but is quite a walk (15-20 minutes) to old city.
comparing the price and the room, it is good. Breakfast is too simple, the elevator is too small.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very well furnished; good ensuite shower. 23 channel TV included BBC Worldwide. Excellent hot & cold buffet breakfast nothing
really spacious rooms, fantastic breakfast!
Staff is kind and even i got arrived at night, he explained kindly what i asked. Also breakfast is really nice. its not very far from the train station and cruise station. expensive internet.
Courtesy of the staff, information in the room.
Large, clean and quiet room No
The staff and comfort of the room Nothing
Near railway station, very friendly, clean, good breakfast. Near main road so a little noisy.Shower gel empty on arrival, not filled up on request.Carpet on top floor stairs is past its best.
Quite and clean hotel.
This is a charming hotel located in an established village at the foot of picturesque vineyards carved into the hills above the Mosel River. We received very attentive service from the owner, whose ability to speak English was a big plus for us. The hotel offers excellent food, a fine selection of regional wines, an elegant restaurant, a cozy dining patio, and an intimate breakfast room - and it is all affordably priced. We have already had occasion to recommend it and will do so again. On this occasion we were traveling through, however we can easily picture staying several nights to explore the area.
comfortable, good value, nice hosts, clean slow internet, difficult to access
good hotel, good restaurant, very attractive prices in a small countryvillage not far from Koblenz
The room was very nicely furnished & very comfortable. The hotel is situated in a beautiful German town right on the banks of the Mosel.
The room was clean and well furnished, with a comfortable bed, good lighting ,and a ceiling fan.The whole hotel was beautifully maintained,Breakfast was good value in the attractive restaurant. This was not open for evening meals on Sunday and Mondays,so I cannot comment on the dinner. Heavy traffic noise, requiring closed windows at night, but no air conditioning. My room was on the ground floor at the front. The walk into town was unpleasant, requiring a complex route under bridges..The short (5 Euro) taxi ride was preferable.
Really enjoyed our stay lovely hotel and restaurant
Good food, comfortable rooms, nice setting, helpful staff. Feather pillows - would have preferred anti-allergen bedding. A lift would have been useful for getting luggage to the 3rd floor.
the personal dealings with the manager owner
Enjoyed Hotel a bit outside centre but reasonable access.Staff friendly and attentive. Could do with a few more cooked items at breakfast.
Very comfortable rooms and kind staff. The restaurant was very expensive. Though the food was good, it was quite over-priced. The location was quite far from the city (25 minutes and downhill).
The double bed consisted of two single beds/ matresses pushed together....rather than an actual double bed.
We stayed at the Hotel for 5 days and used it as our base to visit the Middle Rhein Area. It is a short taxi ride to the Deutsches Eck and the train station (7 to 8 Euros). We explored the local area and took day boat trips up the Mosel and the Rhein Rivers with one day out to visit relatives near Mainz. Be careful, the marble floors in the bath rooms are slippery when wet.
kitchen verry good no refrigeratoer at room
Very old building, over 900 years, very creaky but very charming Very close to a busy railway that operates all night
This hotel is a wonderful, historic building which has been well maintained. The hotel is very close to the train tracks.
If you don't mind the typical old smell of the full carpet at the entree of the hostel and the trains noise in your room during the night, then you will be good served by an attentive and friendly butler. Pay attention: no credit cards allowed.
We only stayed 1 night en route to Austria but it is a beautiful old building and the breakfast was excellent. The railway line was right outside the hotel (I know this is fairly common in this area of Germany) but it did keep me awake somewhat.
It is really an old building and very charming. The staff was very helpful. The hotel is located at the railway but that makes no big problems.
The history of the building, the ambiance, the helpfulness of the host and he was the only person to see us off! NO
- Breakfast - Kind people - big rooms - Noisy location due to adjecent railway track - Old/smelly rooms
Location, friendliness and price The pension is quite old, the house smells like old wood, and breakfast is not fantastic
The building itself is more than 1000 years old (yes, one millennium!). The castle nearby was built 100 years later. You can expect the old building charm and some magic of that place. The owner is a very friendly person, always smiling and helpful. His family has been living in this place for generations. Train tracks go very close to the hotel so trains may wake you up at night. But it's not as bad as expected.
kind hotel staff & excellent breadfast
Friendly and accomodating staff, right next to the train station, adequate breakfast, and a good value if you're just looking for a cheap place to stay. I don't know what the complainers on this site were expecting for 40 Euro per night. Buckingham Palace? Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Quit your limey whining and buck up if you want a 4 star hotel. It's a little worn out, kind of like british dental work.
the staff were very friendly its quite old, needs updating.
The hotel is central & it is easy to reach the town centre & other points of interest. one of staff extremely rude & unhelpful
Everything was okay compared with the price. The hotel was good but seemed to be a little bit worn down.
Location. It did not seem very clean. The sheets were dirty. The rooms need the renovations, specially the shower.
Very central, but adequately sound-proofed. Walking distance to many sights. Friendly staff. Good restaurant/bar across the road. Furniture and fittings very run-down and/or in disrepair (though beds were comfortable enough), questionable cleanliness throughout the hotel.
Very friendly and helpful staff who were happy to serve breakfast at 06.00 on our last day to enable us to catch a very early trainBreakfast was excellent and very filling. Stay was good value for money and enjoyable. Lack of shower curtain and shower head that could not be attatched to the wall.
It was direct near the main station, the room and the bathroom was enormous and relatively clean. The breakfast and the dinner were quite good.
The hotel is very well located for shopping, sight seeing, restaurants and the train station. I didn't like having no towels for two days and waiting over an hour for a member of staff to some up. I also don't like being sworn at when trying to pay a bill with a credit card.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. Clean but oudated in style. The price is reasonable and it is centralise. The hotel is very out of style, the carpet need changing, no toileteriies. No remote control for T.V and the heater was not working properly.
Wonderful view. Very friendly staff with great family atmosphere. Good breakfast and good german restaurant. This is a great traditional german hotel with very caring staff. I would definitely stay there again. Initially difficult to find as Koblenz has grown dramatically since my last visit in 1979.
Fantastic view of Koblenz. Very comfortable beds. Simple but clean rooms. Good breakfast. Great location if you don't mind walking to/from city (30-40 mins). Bathroom worked ok but looked tired and could do with re-furb - clean but smelt musky. Staff were civil but could have sold themselves and the hotel better.
nice quiet area, good view of koblenz staff seemed a bit mean
Location was perfect. Great view overseeing the city. Service was great at the restaurant.
Warm reception and typical German feel; the place has character. Food was good and portions more than adequate. Free parking. Great view overlooking Koblenz. For some the hotel may be a little inaccessible being up above the town over the Rhine, although you can walk down into town; sat nav helps to find by road.
Excellent value, wonderful location, great breakfast and dinner.
Hotel, staff and meals very good except there did not seem to be any Dessert menu except ice cream and then only if you ask. Whilst the hotel location gives a fantastic view over the city and is very visible when crossing the main bridge from Koblenz centre it can be difficult for first time visitors to find the correct bridge and road up the cliff.
The informality of the hotel atmosphere and the wonderful position over Koblenz
View of the town and rhein river; quiet surroundings; parking facilities
Quiet position with good view across the Rhine into Koblenz and the food was excellent, cooked by the owners. A little difficult to find, it is situated in a residential area.
central location extremley friendley & profesional efficient staff
Welcoming, helpful and accomodating staff. Construction of a new hotel was taking place right next door to our hotel which resulted in disturbance. The overall experience was affected would however recommend if there's no construction.
This is an excellent hotel, with multilingual courteous desk staff and a recent refit. The breakfast is outstanding (especially on Sunday), and the hotel staff cannot be friendlier or more helpful. My travelling companion had to eat lunch in the restaurant, and the order was wrong, not great quality, and the service argumentative and surly. Best avoided for food during the day.
I really enjoyed my stay. When I got there, front staff welcomed me with smile and gave me a good scenery room where I could see river. And It was under construction out there, but I couldn't hear the noise in the room. Beautiful room, clean bathroom, convenient espresso machine and delicious breakfast. Everything was perfect. Like I said, Everything was perfect.
The location is closed to the pier and the Deutsche Eck.
the phone was not working in the room and the tech would only fix it in the next day
Breakfast is ok, International hotel Creating a new building at the opposite
The water for tea, coffee from the burco was not hot enough - sometines only warm
reception staff were helpful ran out of some breakfast items early; waitress at dinner hard to find when not attending to empty tables - only 3 people in restaurant; dirty glasses outside the door - no clean ones inside.
Good service when we needed to change room for a less noisy one We first got a room on 9th floor that had a high level humming noise, impossible to sleep in
The staff and servers were very friendly and helpful. Our bathroom needed some work. The shower handle fell off every time you tried to turn the water on. There was mildew on the tile in the shower and the drain did not work very well and didn't look very clean.
Good breakfast table. Very nice bed, soft. Fairly clean rooms. Front desk closed all the time. Staff did not speak English and no given times held. No internet except in dance hall. Everything closed on Fridays and Sundays.
Friendly staff and outstanding dinner in their restaurant
Comfortable rooms and good food No but a hair dryer would have been appreciated.
Breakfast. Hotel staff. Everything closed all the time. Everthing was later. No internet.
Cheap and clean Beware that Friday is a day off so the restaurant is not open.
Cleanliness, size of room, bathroom, quietness, easy bus access to city centre, train station 10 mins walk, thought hotel said it had wifi access - but couldn't access it
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the facilities were beautiful. The complimentary breakfast was always delicious and the restaurant served great food at very reasonable prices. The bar seemed to be very popular among the local residents. I hope to go back there again soon. I wish that I had a greater command of the German language so I could better communicate with the staff and other patrons.
No internet. Smoky smell in room. Old fashioned. Generally unpleasant but delightful staff.
The staff was very pleasant, the hotel quite clean and the food and beer very satisfying. Although for me it was not a problem, but for the elderly climbing stairs to third floor would be an effort. Finding the hotel for foreigners without a GPS could be very trying.
parking; bed not old; breakfast was sufficient; bus outside is 6 mins into centre. WiFi poor; dated decor; many steps to top floor
We stayed in 2006 and there have been many improvements since then - rooms upgraded to a high standard. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is vey good
Just blocks from the Deutsches Eck and the Rhine. Bells at the church in the Jesuitenplatz are charming at first but get annoying at 4 AM, so close the windows. Staff is friendly and the food in the cafe, though not included, is very good. Noise at night, bring earplugs.
Lady at the reception was very kind, very helpful, very cheerful.
Simple reservation via internet x
Staff very efficient, car parking/garage most useful, would stay there again
Excellent location close to the old town. Superb breakfast from cafe Wermenn just five minutes walk away rather than hotel. Stayed one night only as part of a driving trip along Mosel. Good underground car park. Internet not included in price.
The breakfast was excellent.
The large bedroom The noise from the street below
Close to city activities and river. Noisy.
The hotel is in a good position with good facilities and an excellent buffet breakfast. We were surprised the hotel did not have a night porter. We had a problem the first night getting into the hotel.
The hotel was very conveniently located, being a short walk from the historical district of Koblenz. The room was comfortable and I was able to catch up with the news in English on CNN on the TV in the room. I appreciated very much the fact that it was possible to use the Internet for free from a computer set up in the lobby. The bathroom looked a bit old, but was perfectly serviceable.
Very friendly owner; great breakfast; very comfortable bed - everything was great! It would be nice if they accepted credit cards.
Helpful owner, roomy apartment, good location. We found explorlng the Eifel and the Hunstrucke countryside, between the Moselle and the Rhine, very interesting
Nice, good value for money, good breakfast
A warm and friendly welcome which was combined with an excellent description about the area, maps were supplied with good recommendations for restaurants within walking distance. The accomodation was spacious, clean and comfortable, The service and food was excellent at breakfast, with a fresh and varied selection. No
Very friendly. good accomodation and food. Good views. Free Wifi and Parking. Awkward stairs for my wife who has visual field problems- a second handrail would greatly improve things.
The view from our room and the breakfast room was wonderful, as was the room itself and the breakfast. Our hostess was helpful in suggesting activities and places to visit.
friendly host, nice breakfast, spacious room absolutely not.
The friendliness of the host; cleanliness of the accommodations; roominess of the accommodations; location.
Absolutely everything. nothing
