Pros: Nice hostal close to Cotopaxi with great and helpful staff. Easy to find. Ready to help you to find a guide on your hike to Cotopaxi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommended! Best place to visit Contopaxi NP! The stay at the Rondor Cotopaxi lodge was more than good! The rooms are clean and lovely decorated and so is the restaurant/reception room. It is SO cosy and the atmosphere makes you feel like being home immediately (You can warm up at the fireplace after hiking in the Cotopaxi NP and have a warm chocolate etc.) Fernando and his family are the nicest people! They are very freindly and they treat you like close friends (he knows you by name from the beginning) Birma and Fabio were our guides for hiking the Cotopaxi and they did so well! It was very fun and they know a lot about the flora, fauna and culture of Ecuador and they are able to explain very detailed. All in all the family do everything they can to make your stay as good as possible in a very freindly authentic way! Ps: The food is very good as well - try it! We loved it so much and if we could we would always come back!

Pros: Everyone who worked there was very friendly. The hostel was beautiful and had cute dogs and a llama on the premises. The food at the restaurant was pretty good; I got a MONSTRUOUS portion of delicious pasta for only $5.50. It's very easy to get set up with activities in Cotopaxi because they partner with hiking guides, rent bicycles and can also offer transportation to Iliniza, in addition to cotopaxi.

Pros: The friendly staff except of the manager!
Cons: When using the laundry service, we were told that the service for our clothes did not cost more than $5. In the end we were charged $34. We asked for a discount as it was obviously a misunderstandig. However, the manager of the hacienda rejected a discount. That is not a customer-friendly approach! During our entire stay the service provided to us by the whole staff was excellent! Once we were served by the manager. The service provided by the manager was the worst. He let us wait and was unfriendly. Summing this up: The staff was excellent! Concerning the manager, there is a lot of space to improve!!

Pros: Beds were really comfortable.
Cons: Bathroom was pretty small, but still clean. There aren't a lot of good places to eat close by. We ended up driving into Latacunga for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very generous, they are helping Venezuelan refugees settle in equador, but don't worry, it's not a refugee camp, it's a very nice place with: -Comfortable bed -WiFi in the room -Big kitchen -garden -hot shower The staff can prepare meals for you (we didn't try but it looked delicious) The owner gave us a free ride to the entrance of the park where we found a camioneta to drive us to quitopaxi(35$). Be aware, they have two locations on mapsme for the hotel, the one with the bunk bed icon is right, the one on the highway with building icon is wrong. Location on Google maps is Wright.

Cons: Hard to find. Noisy from other rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a great stay with Marcelo and his family. Very friendly people! We went on a tour to Cotopaxi and Quilotoa, it was very nice!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was simple and nice. The kitchen had limited things in it but it was still great to have. They helped us organise a guide to the refugio and the glacier from the hostal for $60 USD for 2 people which wasn't too bad (catching the bus to the turn off and negotiating would have been $40-50 USD).
Cons: Having a small fridge in the kitchen would have been helpful, although they let us store our perishables in their own fridge. Like most things in the area it is pretty expensive for what you get.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Many thanks to awesome always smiling señor Marcelo!) He made this trip
Cons: Little nasty dogs always barking and trying to bite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The beds are really good, so comfortable

The whole hotel was sparkling clean and our room was comfortable and nicely appointed, with a private bathroom. The highlight for us was a generous breakfast with fresh berry smoothies, tea/coffee, croissants with jam, ham and cheese rolls and two eggs each. What fuel for a hike! 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is wonderful!! The peace, the host, everything very calm and the rooms very neat!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our mornings started off with a traditional healthy Ecuadorian meal in the mornings with freshly made juice. We were waited on by friendly staff (Viviana) that were very accommodating. David the owner was always available to help us get our days off to a great start ensuring a great experience at Sacharuna Lodge. The views were amazing day or night pending weather. There were a multitude of activities to do at the lodge or taxi to nearby Cotopaxi and parks. We originally booked for two nights but quickly realized we would need another night to do a few more of the activities we wanted to do. We enjoyed visiting nearby hot springs, Cotopaxi, and horseback riding at the lodge. We appreciated the bonfires in the evenings and the fireplace in the lodge.
Cons: It can be a challenge to find not knowing the area. I would say come dressed for mountain climate. It gets cold in the evenings depending on the season. (The hot water bottles would have been nice to have each evening to warm the beds up.) The water pressure for the showers needs to improve.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house overlooking the Cotopaxi volcano. It is in a great nature aera, where you can hike to a cascade and hot water springs, where you meet the locals. Also horse-riding is one of the options, in the forresty aera. You don't need to know how to do it. All in the enjoyment of beautiful nature and views! In the evening you can sit at the fire outside, but in case that is to cold you just enjoy the food indoors, at the fireplace. The owners are very nice and willing to give you the greatest time! They are building a jacuzzi now, in which you can enjoy the view of the Vulcano!
Cons: The house is situated very high on the mountains, so it gets cold at night. In the rooms, you need a lot of heating to get a bit warm. But they can provide very warm sheets!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful surroundings, nice couple that receives you. Good for hiking, horseriding or let your kids just discover the hacienda.
Cons: It's a hacienda with guest rooms, not a hosteria. So not the most luxurious or clean. And prepare for the cold (that's when rainy season).

Friendly owner who is a mountain guide himself. He can give good advise about almost anything concerning south America, he really wants you to have a good travel experience.
Cons: It can get cold in the room in the evenings (but of course the bed is warm because of the electric blankets, so that covers it). The shower gets warm but not hot.

Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved Adrian and his hospitality! The food was incredible and nothing beats hanging out with 2 gorgeous St Bernards and getting kisses from llamas. The rooms were quaint and the staff obviously thought of everything (even electric blankets!). We recommend Cuello de Luna to all!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything went really great! The staff is really helpful and accommodating. The property is real close to the Volcano park entrance. The breakfast is good. Very secure area. The BEST thing is the electric blankets!!! The nights there get very cold.
Cons: The room didn't have any heater/air con which makes perfect sense giving the location.Still it's a bit chilly in the room. I guess there's nothing you can do about. Not a big deal providing you have an electric blanket on every bed.

Pros: Charming hotel/hostel on great location, friendly staff and a fair breakfast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here as the petrol crisis riots started and the staff kept letting me extend my stay. This place is a 4* hotel but the basement floor is a hostel I booked a private room and had a 8 bed dorm all to myself.
Cons: My room had a sky light into a court yard. Not sure if other hostel rooms would hace any natural light. Not a very social atmosphere

Pros: Good location. Excellent customer service. The guy at the front desk was very helpful. They store your bags as you do the loop

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: You can leave your bags for free when you want to do the quilotoa Loop.
Cons: The guy at the reception tried to rip us off. He told us that there is only one room left which will cost us 15$ each. But when we checked on booking.com there was a cheaper room available. He didn't even apologize after we showed him the price on booking. He just tried to sell us that more expensive room and started negotiating. Then we just booked the room via booking and eventually we got it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice welcoming, staff was very helpful. Breakfast was classic but good, beds are comfy and warm, hot water in the showers. They can keep your luggages while you’re trekking around.

Rooms have a private bathroom fitted with a shower. You will find a 24-hour front desk at the property and laundry service is available. Luggage storage service is provided. Ambato is 35 km from La Posada del Turista, while Quilotoa is 32 km from the property.
6.0 Good
Pros: The best thing about La Posada was the owner Victor's enthusiasm for travel and adventure and willingness to share his tips. Every night at 8 he does a mini info session for guests and talks them through their travel next steps (i.e. to hike in Quilatoa, or visit Cotopaxi). He was very helpful, knowledgable, and warm.
Cons: The walls are very thin and you can hear everything happening on all four floors. Similarly, when the hall lights go on, they shine into the room as well. We stayed here as a stopover on the way to Sigchos to hike the Quilatoa loop. It was fine for one night, but pretty bare bones. It's pretty cheap though, so if that's what you're aiming for, it might be perfect. It's also easy walk to the bus station.
7.1 Good
Pros: Cheap and good to stop over for one night while seeing Quilotoa.
Cons: No breakfast. No communal areas. Pretty much confined to one room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I visited the property during the Ecuador protests which restricted movement around the country. Victor, the owner, was truly amazing and helped in any way possible to make my extended stay great. He organised day trips to all the locations where I wanted to go despite all the danger and even went with us to check all ok. Also lot of good advice from him on how to navigate the situation. I think the people really make this property and I would recommend even in calmer times!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful staff with info about the loop. Great hot shower and location is really close to bus station
7.5 Good
Pros: The owner is very helpful and speaks good English. The location is pretty good. (bus terminal, market,...) Luggage storage for free! :)
Cons: The Bathroom is kind of a 'Bathbox' in your room. The walls of the bath don't reach the ceiling. The stairs are really narrow. The rooms are 'perfumed' with something strange.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: What makes this accomodation exceptional is the owner. He gave us invaluable advice for our trips to Quilotoa loop and cotopaxi. Also, the price is super convenient and we could leave our big bags at the reception for free, which is normally paid at other places. Thumbs up, Victor!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: If you're going to hike the quilotoa-loop, I would highly recommand this hostel. The owner Victor will provide you a lot of good information and you can leave your bags there for free. Good location near the bus terminal. Hot shower.
Cons: As it says in many reviews, the bathroom could have been better, its kind of inside the room, and it would be nice if there was an extra light in it. The room was a bit noisy from the street and in the morning you'll wake up early because there are no curtains to dimm the light.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host Victor Hugo was super nice, every night he gives to the people at the hotel A LOT of good information for the Quilotoa hike, he helps you to find a cheap and good hotel on the stops that you will have to make. You will also be able to leave the bags on the hostel while you are hiking (for FREE)
Cons: The bathroom a bit small

7.1 Good
Pros: Although I got the cold shoulder from one of the employees, the older gent working in the mornings was very friendly. The location near the main plaza of Latacunga is probably the best part about this place.
Cons: They have some sewage issues, at least on the 3rd floor where I stayed. My room smelled atrocious! Also, the walls are not very sound-proof, so you will definitely hear your neighbor's TV!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A very amazing colonial hotel in the very center of Latacunga, just 5 minutes walk from the main place. Room immaculate, very clean with all facilities, hot water shower (not a common facility in Ecuador), and the owner Nelson very helpful for setting and organizing tours and excursions in the sorrounding countryside, such as Quilotoa Lagoon and Cotopaxi National Park. A very nice staying in Latacunga, probably the best place where staying in the centre of town.
Cons: nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Right in the center of Latacunga. Beautiful rooms (I got upgraded for free as things were a little quiet) - a good place to decompress after three days of hiking the Quilotoa loop.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel preserves some of the most antique architectures in the city.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property was nice. The staff was very attentive and have wonderful personalities.
Cons: It was very difficult to find the hotel — no signage outside of the hotel.
7.1 Good
Pros: Probably high standards for this smaller Ecuadorian town, but not what most Europeans or Americans are used to.
6.3 Good
Pros: They have soap and towels
Cons: I got a room in the basement which is not what I'd expected. It wasn't the cleanest and it had a bad musty smell the kind that can linger on your clothes a bit. No windows and quite small. At night it could get quite cold but that's mainly because the room next door had a hole up to the ground. The staff were helpful however often not present when I needed to enter the door. So I'd often have to wait for ages and then just end up using the main entrance that guests use. The different entrances could be better sign posted because I ended up using the main entrance which was hosting a wedding and I strolled through that with my backpack.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room & bed were comfortable
Cons: 1. There was no hot water. I’d booked this hotel after a hike to have a warm shower and uninterrupted sleep, so was very disappointed. When I was shown the room, I was told to wait 5-6mins for hot water. I tried for 20mins, including trying the cold setting. I tried again in the morning with no luck. On complaint to the manager, he said the taps were reversed, and that I should have tried the blue side. When I explained I’d tried that, he said his staff probably forgot to put the gas on... (twice?) 2. The walls were very thin - I was woken by the room next door chatting. 3. I went downstairs to head out for dinner, but the front door was locked. There were also six people outside trying to get in. I couldn’t open the door (it looked padlocked although in hindsight I suspect I just needed to lift the iron pegs). There was no one at reception to help, so I hunted around the area, only finding one guest. Instead I tried phoning the hotel. The reception desk rang, and after it rang out it was forwarded to a mobile. The receptionist then came out and let me out. The people trying to get in had gone, but the receptionist wasn’t worried as he said there was another entrance around the side that they would find.
6.3 Good
Pros: Hause in colonial Style in the Center of Latacunga
Cons: We had a Reservation for 2 Double-Bed Rooms and they gave us a 4- Bedroom without linens. IT was Suite a Diskussion to get the right rooms

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Cotopaxi is our favorite in Ecuador, always a brilliant staff smile, friendly and helpful. We always come here on our 3 visits to the country and have certainly stayed here for a total of 15-20 nights. It should be a good rating over what we think of the hotel.
Cons: I have nothing to comment here
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and the shower was hot and powerful. The staff were friendly and when I asked for bowls and hot water to make my own breakfast the next morning they were very accommodating. Location was good, close to many restaurants.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location, bed ok and room fairly clean (couple of ants though)
Cons: I booked two double rooms on booking.com so I could stretch out (6’3”) and my friend could have space too. I was given a triple with three singles. She was given a twin. I asked if they had any doubles, but my Spanish wasn’t good enough. Disappointed with booking.com and hotel Cotopaxi for not honouring my booking of double rooms. I only booked private rooms for the double beds - in hindsight we should have stayed in a hostel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was good for our short trips to nearby sights. The breakfast was typical Ecuador style with eggs and bread, juice and coffee. Although the hotels is a bit dated, it was clean and safe and is good value for the money. The staff were helpful in providing directions and answering questions.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location, could walk all over town. Staff helpful with information.
Cons: There was a lot of noise that came into the room from the outside. A musty smell in the bathroom.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Close to main square
Cons: Hotel is a little bit dirty place. And at night was party and personel didnt react good. At the end they want more money from me than is ok a booking.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Quiet room, even on plaza side.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This self contained unit was super comfortable for us as a family of 4. Loads of space inside with 2 bedrooms (1 with double bed and 1 with double bed and top bunk) and beautiful setting. Lovely to have option of self catering with kitchenette and everything you need to cook. Hosts were super friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend, we even stayed an extra night! Good base for Cotopaxi and Quilitoa loop.
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you want to be in a beautiful rural area, with an amazing view on the cotopaxi; this is your place! Also the hosts are the warmest people you can imagine, they took us to the supermarket to get groceries and to the bus on the day that we left. Last but not least; the accomodation is spacious and well equipped!
Cons: It’s not easy to find (that’s also a plus, because it makes you feel being in a special place), so it’s very important to read the instructions you receive from Jo and Daniel :)!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: a centrally located, clean comfortable hotel with onsite parking
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nothing extraordinary!
Cons: No staff at reception desk most of the time. Booking on line, they send you to the old hotel. The restau at that location is only for the breakfast where one staff does the cooking, serving and reception at the same time. The room had no exterior window and there was no good aeration. The fridge had some left over from the previous client! Nobody spoke English or French.
7.1 Good
Pros: - Excellent location in the centre of Latacunga right across a supermarket.
Cons: - Unfortunately we got some discussion about the price while we booked straight at Booking.com. - Apparently the room prices used at Booking.com are different than the ones the hotel charges (besides IVA and service fee). In the end we solved it by talking to the friendly owner. - Keep in mind that their personnel doesn't speak any English. - Reasonably small and outdated rooms. - Some rooms are next to the street which produces quite some noise.
