Pros: Hotel is located along one of the beautiful parts of Lake Biwa. The villa is charming and cosy. The dinner and breakfast was delectable. 9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, hotel is cozy with beautiful view facing lake Biwako. We arrived in time to see the sunset, stunning view from our rooms. We were so impressed that staff even cleaned our luggage before sending to our rooms, attention to details is highly appreciated.
7.5 Good
Pros: Really enjoyed this experience, the food was truly epic.
Cons: The room looked a little shabby and tired. Scuff marks on walls, worn surface etc. Also not as clean as I would of liked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Arrived very late for this stay as driving from Kansai airport was longer than expected. Staff was ready to welcome us and help us prepare the room without any hesitation. They were concern for our safety and even reminded us to have our dinner. The open air onsen during the noon and evening, with the scenary, was so beautiful that it cannot be described with words. It was definitely a very wonderful experience in this Ryokan.
Cons: Evening has a lot of insects which children may not like.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A small, family styled ryokan hotel but well equipped and with excellent personal service. Most staff could speak some English and were all very helpful. The room was spacious and we loved the small balcony facing Lake Biwa as well as the attached private lake-facing / open-air bathtub. The public bath is not large, but sufficient and with a nice lake view.
Cons: Not much, although for someone who likes town shopping or restaurant going, the hotel is a bit far from town. Pricing is a bit on the high side given its kaiseki dinner being quite ordinary.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The dinner and the breakfast is perfect! Love the dinner set where the beef is superb, the best beef I have ever taste in my life. Sha-bu Sha-bu is so so but is still a great dish though. Will come back again next time for sure!
Cons: Please reply the enquirers email as soon as possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the beautiful downstairs sitting area is gorgeous. The meals if many delicate traditional dishes were a work of art. The whole experience was cossetted time out of time
9.5 Excellent
Pros: location was easy to find. staff were professional. english speaking manager, very good food for dinner and breakfast
Cons: I think the private onsen in our room was too small and also not covered from rain. It was raining during our stay, and we weren't able to use the onsen in our room at all.

7.0 Good
Pros: Location: it’s not too far away from Nagahama Station and it’s just next to Biwa Lake. View: Lake Biwa can be seen from the window of the room
Cons: -the room was really small -sagging mattress -pricy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing 4-star hotel located just next to the shoreline, and all rooms have a view of the beautiful Lake Biwa. Right next to parklands and Nagahama castle, and 5 mins from the city centre and old town market street. Staff was really helpful, the room was impeccably clean, and there are several really good restaurants located inside the hotel building. Also, free parking. If you travel during the rainy season, you can get a room for as little as £50, in which case it is the bargain of the year!
Cons: Nothing, really. Things can get significantly more expensive during Japanese holidays, but this just means that it is good enough to attract domestic tourists.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast is good, location is nice and quiet. nice staff a lot of free parking space. next to the lake tour ferry pier. nice view. free shuttle to town.
Cons: you have to drive or take the shuttle to town, a bit remote location for shopping
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very big, by Japanese standards. The view of Lake Biwa was great. The staff was very friendly. I appreciated their sincerity, friendliness and dedication. The carpet was not dirty (as far as I could tell)! The room was large enough to hold a small low table with two chairs. The sento (communal bath) was quite nice. I went at 6 am, and nobody else was there. However, the water could have been hotter, I felt. See attached photo of Lake Biwa in the evening.
Cons: 1. No English-language TV. 2. Although the room was big, the layout of the room was rather strange. That said, I'm still happy that the room was so large. 2. The furniture was nothing special. The attached photo shows what the beds are like. 3. This hotel did not have an ice machine. We had to ask room service. The ice was brought very promptly in a nice bucket. Still, I'd like to have an ice machine available, as is common in Japanese hotels. 4. The breakfast, at ¥2160, is overpriced. Other reviewers have praised the breakfast, but I cannot really agree: no decent bread (but there was genuine butter, not margarine); fruit was only sliced oranges; no eggs made to order or anything like that; the ratatouille (actually zucchini in tomato sauce with cheese) was COLD. The rest of the breakfast was standard Japanese hotel buffet breakfast: curry rice; salmon; salad; sausages; yogurt; a small selection of cereals; bacon; rice porridge; pickles; an array of Japanese dishes. The cappuccino, from a machine, was fine. If the breakfast were less expensive, I'd have no complaint.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was actually a good size. The hotel has a great location and the staff are very nice. It's within walking distance to the castle, market square and Nagahama station which was nice. The hotel boats a lake view, however I think if you're on the lower floors, chances are you won't see much of the view because of the raised floor safety measures outside your window.
Cons: The toilet made noise every time I flushed. The refrigerator in my room was also a bit noisy. It was on and off throughout the night. It could do with some modernisation since the pipework sounded old. I couldn't find a socket near the bed. I'd say the hotel lobby and the entrance had more flair than the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The price, for a room with a water view, was excellent. Also they provide transportation to the train station. It was a bonus being right next to the ferry to Chikubushima.
Cons: The restaurant food was pretty pricey, 25-50% the cost of the room. However there certainly were other restaurants in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mr Kimura Masafumi was the most wonderful of hosts for us at his hotel. After 2 days I felt like I was saying good bye to an old friend. The rest of the staff were very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel!
4.5 Okay
Pros: The hotel is near Lake Biwa, we can enjoy the lake view from the window.
Cons: The air-conditioner does not work. At night, the outdoor temperature was 9 degree Celsius. But I was sweating even just sitting inside the room. The hotel cannot change a room for us. Fortunately, a staff lends us an electric fan to solve the temperature problem.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast

Pros: Bed is nice. Location is good.
Cons: None for this time
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice location close to the bay, castle and the train station. bike rental was great. breakfast also decent. staff are kind.
Cons: difficult to sleep with the noise from the nearby railroad, light seeping in from both the window and the door. room also feels stuffy. dust on the headboard rail of the bed. not too many channels on tv. onsen not available in the morning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quite close to JR station, a big supermarket and convenient store. Onsen is good. Very good price even in hot season. The yakitori restaurant on ground floor of the hotel is also good and cheap. The hotel is also near a famous hotel for red leaves.
Cons: Onsen does not open in the morning. The room is small although still acceptable.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Route-Inn Nagahama Inter in Nagahama, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Lake Biwa and Sojiji Temple. Featured amenities include laundry facilities and a vending machine.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was comfortable. It was clean. It's near a convenience store. The staff is fine.
Cons: It was hard to travel using a public transportation. There's a bus going to the hotel from Nagahama Station, but it takes around 15 to 20 minutes. On a different day, I decided to come back to the hotel around 4 but the bus route took almost 45 minutes. It was just inconvenient. But if you have a car, I think the hotel's location is fine.
6.3 Good
Pros: I liked a public bath and breakfast.
Cons: It was not convenient at all to walk to a restaurant for dinner from the hotel. The room is dark and not exciting.

Pros: The hotel is right next to the lake and park. Great hot spring facilities. Staffs are great.
Cons: The location is pretty isolated and is far from restaurants and shops. There were many travel groups, so the dining room was very crowded and noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close by to station and attractions.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Poor facility information. Over-pricing for the room I've got. Less or the same space of my room than business hotels. I would pay less than half.
