Pros: very tridiation n historical
Cons: the tiolet is far away from bed
Pros: it's a silence, n historical place.
Pros: - All staffs are super helpful and supportive - Great dinner and breakfast!! Impressive! - Even we stayed in an old Japanese house, all facilities and amenities are modern and comfortable - Not ideally located in an old street area (we stayed in the main house), but only short biking distance to everything - Unique experience.. highly recommended
Cons: A bit pricey, but it’s worth it! Nothing to be complained :)
This hotel is a economic hotel, ideal place for youth all around the world and let everyone enjoy happiness and safety at here. Of course, we are very much welcome family traveler and a group of elderly people too. It's a small youth hotel located in a mountain village just off Kyoto city. We offer delicious water, rice and warm hospitality to our guests, please come to stay at our hotel. We are looking forward to meet you at our traditional Kayabuki-yane ( thatched-roof ) which has a atmosphere of olden days. Nantan city, Miyama-cho town nestled in the village of Saba-kaido, it is a road that connects Wakasa and Kyoto. River Yura's limpid stream, field, mountain forest and lot of private house with historic thatched roof are all well blended where guests can enjoy a beautiful view of rural landscape. A lot of untouched woods are remained in famous Ashiu old-growth forest located at the eastern extremity of town. You can go hiking on Hachigamine, Mount Tokin and Choroga-take. Fully enjoy the Japanese cherry in the spring, lightning bug in the summer, autumn leaves in the autumn and landscape of snow in the winter. Visitors can also enjoy your seasonal pursuit such as Haiku, camera and painting. We offer delicious sweetfish dishes and wild boar stew.
Pros: Love host, very friendly and always keep talking with the guest. Feeling like staying with family.
Pros: The owners and the villages were really nice. They cooked me nice food and taught me a lot about Japanese culture. A great night in a remote village. I enjoyed it very much!
Pros: Everything! The owners were incredibly kind and hospitable. They taught us many things from the thatched roofs to making traditional foods, as well as Japanese games and calligraphy. The traditional tatami rooms and futon beds were amazing and the dinner + breakfast served was delicious. We even got to wear gardening outfits and help pick yuzu to make yuzu juice. We left feeling like we gained a new home and family :)
Pros: Japanese traditional home. Nice staff
Cons: Bus schedule was not convenient.
Pros: Good hospitality, clean and comfort room with nice foods
Pros: As i was alone, They tried to give good and delicate care to me in a natural way at that time i could not notice. They were like ordinary neighbors in countryside. They have warm heart and diligent life style. Breakfast and dinner which they made by themselves were from their back yard, and those were neat and delicious. I made good memories here and i was the most consoled here through my whole trip.
Pros: The warm and friendly approach, food , cleanness
Cons: A bit difficult to get
Pros: The hosts are wonderful. They are warm, helpful and professional, they truly love what they do. They took us to see fireflies near by and gave us a short lesson doing calligraphy--two experiences that will remain as highlights from the vacation for years to come. The guesthouse is very well cared for and is situated in one of Japan's most beautiful countrysides.
Pros: The owners were very kind. The meals were delicious and healthy. I also enjoyed a walk to nearby Ohno Dam.

Pros: Good Dinner，Good Host, Good View
Cons: no hot water in the toilet
Pros: We had a wonderful time at this resort! We stayed in one of the cabins and enjoyed their amazing breakfasts, the onsen, the cherry trees, and cute goats at a farm down the street. The staff (Especially Ohiro-San) was amazing- he picked us up at the train station, joked around with us, made us lots of coffee, and always had a smile!
Cons: The tatami mats and rice pillows in the cabin were a little rustic for my taste, but for the price it was a great bargain. The cabin itself was fantastic. We had two adults and 4 teens and the cabin was perfect for a two day stay. It’s possible that the rooms in the lodge are different bed types. The train schedule is a little tricky and only twice an hour in the evening coming from Kyoto and takes about an hour. We also needed to buy special tickets for the final length from Sonobe, but were very confused as to where to do that at.
Pros: Free shuttle from the nearest. Large rooms. Very quiet. Helpful staff! (despite not speaking english).
Cons: Staff not speaking english, hard communication. Enough food for dinner and breakfast, but no so tasty (based on the total price, we expected more). Yukata for fee. If you don't have a car - bad location, because far from anything. Last but not least - payment only in cash!!! (Albeit Booking says cards are acceptable.)

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and coffee/tea in a common area. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: i requested non smoking room. I believed that it was a smoking room converted to non smoking room. I still could smell cigarette and very uncomfortable.
Pros: Peaceful environment.
Cons: It is not so much what I did not like. It was not quite what I imagine it to be - given the reviews on booking.com. It was meant to be a “treat” stay for us during this fairly long trip to Kyoto. The dinner that come with the stay - I thought that would be a real treat but turned out not great! Most ryokans I have stayed in Japan - after a warm soak in the hot bath, a most delectable Japanese dinner was served in style - reflecting the warmth and finesse of Japanese food.
With a stay at Syoenso Hozugawatei in Kameoka, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Kameoka Sports Ground and Anaoji Temple. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were all extremely kind and polite.
Cons: The music was odd. We were expecting more tranquil and authentic Japanese choices.
Pros: Cleanliness is very good. Meal could have been much exclusive and unique.
Cons: To offer the Meal a little bit more variety. Especially the breakfast set. My teenager boys could not enjoy this.
Pros: Brought two friends visiting Japan for the first time here for the ryokan experience and they loved it! The lobby is beautifully decorated, and the same care for appearance and attention to detail is paid to displays throughout the building. The room was spacious and the futons were thick, comfortable, and warm. The bathing facilities were fantastic - especially the mist sauna and outdoor stone bath! Dinner and breakfast were also both wonderful.
Pros: The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The amenities were amazing and top-notch and food was incredible. Beautiful facility - very serene.
Pros: The food was incredible.
Pros: their onsens are amazing. Away from the busy life you get actual peace and quiet here. Loads of onsen options, was so relaxing. Staff were friendly but also quite hasty in somethings. Interior was gorgeous, feels like a proper get away.
Cons: Had nothing around, no restaurants, no snack places and served the worst breakfast couldn't even touch it.
Pros: Very friendly staff, peaceful quiet environment, and food was delicious.
Cons: We were billed for 2 rooms. We asked for 1 room for 2 people. Deceptoveness. We also requested an hour of private bath. When we arrived, they had forgotten to prepare it

Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Yumi and her family and staff were extremely kind, generous and helpful. They collected us at the train station, took us to and picked us up from Kayabuki no sato (the thatch village) and then took us to the train station with a quick stop for sake en route! Yumi even ran down the train tracks pleading with the train conductor to wait for us! The ryokan rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and nicely decorated. There are no in room private bathrooms, but ours was just outside our sleeping area. The food was good and prepared en suite. We enjoyed and learned a lot from our conversations with Yumi and Makiko.
Cons: At least a 30 minute drive from Kayabuki no sato, which was our main destination. (Few accommodations there and very difficult to communicate with the few that exist.)
Pros: The scenery and warm hospitality by the inn owner
