I just came back from spending 4 nights at the Colonial Hilton in Nassau. The view is amazing, private beach, great pool. This is a hotel for couple, there were hardly any kids on the premises. I actually don't even remember seeing any kids. Plenty of areas to enjoy a quiet time or mix with other people. The Bullion was always a good time, great drinks and service. The atmosphere was laid back and you could tell even the locals wanted to come and spend time at this nice lounge. Our rooms were clean, although we weren't thrilled with our view, we sort got sent to the left wing of the hotel were there was hardly a good view but we got a view nonetheless. Since the hotel wasn't sold out and they had plenty of rooms I thought it would've been nice if they upgraded us to a nicer room with a better view and we did ask for it but they didn't accommodate our request unfortunately. My overall experience was great, the staff was attentive, helpful and always greeted you with a smile. One thing I didn't like was having to pay the surcharge for energy and service, they ended up totaling over $100 for our 4 night stay.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau - Bahamas! I was up-graded to ocean view. the bathroom was fantastic - walk in shower and tub were separate! Spotless clean. Great Maid service. And room service was prompt and the food was excellent! Entertainment also really good! And of course super comfy beds. Will definitely stay there again! The outdoor beach bar does need a little renovation to match the lovely hotel!
This hotel is not 4 star. It is more like a 3 star. It was clean enough. The rooms are small almost boutique style. I had a king bedroom. The sink water turned brown often, so that was gross. The shower water kind of had a sewer smell, so that was gross. The breakfast is good, but overpriced. It should probably cost around $12.99 as opposed to $23.00. They throw out cold 'microwavable' pancakes while they are making fresh pancakes, so be sure to get the 'real' pancakes when they come out. The lobby roof was literally dripping water in about 15-20 places, and they just put the yellow 'caution wet floor' signs at the spots of the dripping water. So you have to walk around 15-20 wet spots. The pool is a decent size, nice private beach where you get a view of the cruise ships that are docked. The location is great, downtown shopping, clubbing, and dining is in one direction and the Fish Fry area is in the other direction. Overall, the hotel is decent, its clean, the rooms are clean, its a solid 3.
The hotel was great it was clean and it was in walking distance to straw market and alot of other shopping. I would recommend this hotel if goin to bahamas
This was my husbands and my first time to the Bahamas. Let me apologize for my wordy review in advance! We wanted to visit Atlantis but have a cheaper hotel, and this hotel was worth every penny. The queen room wasn’t huge or anything but there were only 2 of us, and it was neat clean and with an AWESOME view of the private beach, cabanas, etc. to our surprise. We were made to feel welcome even before we left home, as we spoke to the concierge a few times before we left. From the minute we arrived and checked in until we checked out, the entire staff was very upbeat, knowledgeable, overly nice and made it clear they were here to make our stay wonderful. I brought my laptop thinking I could use it for free in my room, but there was a charge they said. I'm still not clear if the wifi costs or the in-room wire they have there costs, but just to be safe, they do offer 2 great, fast computers downstairs with 1 printer. You would think this would be annoying but it was always free and I never felt rushed. The hotel is big, but still gives a cozy effect. Taxi rides around the island were anywhere from $10 - $15, and did not exceed that, just ask before you get in to be clear for each trip, because you can negotiate if you want as they dont have meters there. The taxi ride from the airport was 30.00 for us, he said it was because of our luggage, but it was because he was a “car service” and not a “taxi”. We heard it shouldn’t be any more than 27.00. Well of course we found out to make sure the car says “taxi” on it. By the way, the ride back to the airport actually was 27.00, so just an fyi if you care! This by no means made or broke our trip though, it was so small in the grand scheme of our vacation and our day. The cab drivers were all pretty cool if they felt like talking, and there were plenty waiting around because we went in July and apparently that’s the 'slow' season in the Bahamas. I was a little nervous at first looking at the city because it was my ...
Our stay was fantastic! We were pleased from start to finish. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and the entire hotel was clean. Beach area was kept clean and offered plenty of seating.
I went for my honey moon, June 2013, nice place with a walking distance to the ferry, shopping and restaurants :)
I stayed at this hotel a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. Driving up to it doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling, but the inside is beautiful! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was fantastic! I will definitely stay there again.
The British Colonial hotel was very nice and centrally located in Nassau to stores and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. The beds were too soft for our comfort. The major complaint was the noise coming from the hallways. Our room was located such that we had a full view of the beach. It was located by an exterior balcony that people used for smoking and talking loudly. During our 4 night stay, we failed to get a good night sleep.
great location but you have to pay a resort fee, electricity fee, service fee (even if you don't ask for it ...) apart of that, the beach and water there were plain dirty, and finally the food quality (not the breakfast) was poor.
After a week staying in a rustic cottage on a gorgeous out island with no A/C (in August), I booked a night at the Hilton because the ferry/flight schedule required us to come back from paradise a day early. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was large, comfortable, well appointed, clean and air conditioned. It had a great view of the harbor. The pool and grounds were beautiful. Would definitely go back
The British Colonial hotel was a very good hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff was pleasant. The hotel room was clean but the bed was very soft and was not as comfortable as I would have liked. The use of the beach and amenities such as computers was very good. I enjoyed my stay and would return to the hotel on future travels.
We found the hotel to be well located around the corner from downtown and bayside. Hotel targets business visitors and caters to airline crews. The passageways between the rooms are noisy at all times of the night and early mornings with people coming and going. The bed was like a canoe and the frame broke twice detroying two nights of sleep. There is no hot water only luke warm. Considering that you pay an energy charge in addition to the hotel fees, they could adjust the thermostate a bit so we could see just a little steam.
We spoke with several staff members and the manager regarding no telephone service in our room. We didn't want to move, because we were tired and didn't want to pack and unpack again. The dinner menu left something to be desired. We ended up going to KFC. Next time I'll take a cruise. Unless you're into water sports. There's not much to do. Going into town while the ships are in port was insane. Too many people.
This place is all about greed. Be ready for pay for everything even items they advertise as being complimentary. I went to the beach to use the kayak. They showed me the free one and said they couldn't find the key. However, they had some paid ones available. They said the business center offers free internet but there were only two computers one not working and of course the other always seem to be occupied by another guest so guess what? If you really want to use internet, they charge for WIFI and Wired internet. When i go to checkout out, i have energy surcharge of $10 for each day i was there. I also have a $5/day gratuities charge. Why am i obligated to pay gratuities? I thought gratuities where supposed to be paid when you are happy? I tried to call them to explain my extra charges and they keep forwarding me to a department where i always have to leave a message. I am yet to receive a response.
Most of this hotel is nice but I expected to get a nice nights sleep. The A/C thermostat operates on a motion sensor so after you lay in bed for 3 minutes the A/C goes off. I woke up around 1 AM sweating so I had to walk past the motion sensor to get the A/C back on. Thats pretty bad when you need to wake up to stay comfortable. I received 1,000 points back on my Hilton Honors which is like $* for a 3 night $* stay with little sleep. I don't think that is customer service
Incompetent staff, horrible service, they may 'act' friendly in front of you, but they do not listen to what you ask. At $* a night, you would at least expect water in your refridgerator, but no such thing. Coffee was not replenished in the room. Hotel does not match its description: 'private beach' is a joke with its 10 ft of beach overlooking the cruise ships and their waste. Don't even attempt to go in the water. Our 'luxury room' overlooked a dirty parking lot, and let's not even talk about the noise every night. NEVER AGAIN.
