This place was absolute PARADISE!! Absolutely beautiful and the staff was so friendly and wonderful. The food was a bit overpriced but the breakfast buffet was splendid. Some of the locals in the near by village solicit vacationers to buy jewelry (overpriced) or horseback rides on the beach. No real adult entertainment after 8pm Fiji Time.
The Beach was amazing. The resort was easy to find. Lots of activities on property. Great for couples and family friendly. 99.9% of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Staff makes You feel very welcome. I will be back. The quality of the food was a bit of a disapointment. If you pay by credit card ( which most people do) they nickel and dime you for an 'extra' 3% charge for using credit card, The rental golf clubs are junk. Only the Front desk manager was rude.
Staff was outstanding. Grounds very well maintained. Beautiful setting. Traditional Fiji resort using bures (a traditional looking hut with only two guest rooms per building) vice hotel rooms. Felt like family. Staff goes out of their way to make your trip relaxing. Need a gift shop/mini store. Would have purchased souvineirs if they were available. Had to go by taxi to store or to large hotel next store to purchase snacks.
Very polite and friendly hotel staff, especially with kids. The Lagoon Family room was spacious enough to accommodate us (king size bed) with our two kids on separate divans and well situated in the resort (short walking distance from beach, pool, kids club, restaurant). A special lunch (free of charge) was available for the kids. Breakfast at the Lagoon Terrace was above average (e.g. waffles and pancakes well baked and omelet/eggs prepared in a cleaned pan each time). The fresh spiny lobsters grilled during the Sea Food Market event were delicious (but expensive). When parents paid for buffet dinner at the Lagoon Terrace, kids eat for free. The beach is small but nice and kept clean, with some shadows. The main pool was very clean. Cleanliness of the room (curtains, tiles, cupboards) and in the restaurants (especially the seats) was really poor. Efficiency of the staff was generally on the low side : solving basic issues (phone not working, newspaper not delivered, ...) took days, service at the Lagoon Terrace (buffet) was slow (used plates accumulate on table, waiting for coffee/tea during breakfast was often too long). The show during the Fire Dancers evening was just as bad as expensive (a similar show in the neighboring resort Gekko was definitively better and free of charge) and the Fijian buffet experience during the Firewalking show was disappointing (Lovo that tasted like if cooked in a conventional oven). The location is great - picture perfect The resort was nice, but it was quite expensive for any food and drink. I stayed at another resort earlier in the week and the extra star at the Shangri-La meant the price of food almost doubled.
The friendliness, meals and beautiful weather The room smelt a bit mouldy on arrival so I left the doors open every day and it made it smell better. It also could have been better catered for, for adults with teenagers/young adults as I needed to book 3 room as we are a family of six.
