8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful!
Cons: Private onsen area did not have a place to hang up towels or yukatas. There were no baskets provided for yukatas either. This seemed strange based on other ryokans where we have stayed. The dining room was a bit loud.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent

Hotel Vista Sendai - Sendai - Building
3
8.8 Excellent (6,158 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Vista Sendai, you'll be centrally located in Sendai, within a 5-minute drive of Tohoku University and Sendai International Center. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is near JR Sendai exit EAST.
Cons: The hotel didn't offer bottle water.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Vista is a very nice hotel in a convenient location. I always stay on the west side of Sendai Station, but I thought I'd try the east side for a change. It's quieter on the east side with easy access to the subway lines and JR lines which are minutes away.
Cons: On my last day before check-out, I got a note that the cleaning staff must enter my room to clean up. I really wish I had a choice of not being disturbed at all during my stay. I was checking out, so I didn't make a fuss. I have my reasons for not being disturbed--one being that I have expensive medical equipment (i.e., CPAP) that should not be touched or moved. Also, because there's really no drawers (as is common in USA hotels) in the room, I literally live out of my suitcase--so preparing for the cleaning crew would be a major inconvenience. At least most hotels now give guests the choice of whether to have their rooms cleaned or not, day by day, or not al all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Simple, comfortable and affordable. Quick walk from Sendai train station and the subway station. Friendly and helpful staff with some English skills. Room was good sized with deep bathtub and comfortable bed. Perfect for a couple who’s looking to save some money but not sacrifice location and comfort.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place is rear to the JR Sendai station, about 4 minutes.
Cons: The hotel didn’t offer water.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. Within 5 mins walking distance to the Sendai Station where you can take the JR line or Shinkansen. Nearby to restaurants and a family mart. Hotel has laundromat, makes it convenient. Try the restaurant just next to the hotel that serves really good Gyutan.
7.5 Good
Pros: Reasonable price and very good location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location and great service
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is almost right next to the main station and super easy to reach, around the corner there is a 7/11. Hotel is very clean, breakfast had a lot of variety and the hot bath was also quite relaxing!
Cons: Some dishes in the breakfast could have been served warmer but all in all it was quite good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, friendly staff. Good amenities, clean room.
Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East - Sendai - Building
4
8.8 Excellent (5,227 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East, you'll be centrally located in Sendai, within a 5-minute drive of Tohoku University and Sendai International Center. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to station and shopping centre with a wonderful view down a Main Street from our room to enjoy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very convenient location - right above the train station and restaurants; close to arcades and much more. Spacious and modern bathroom. Amazing view from the room - a huge window facing the city.
Cons: The room's carpet.. There was no separation between the room's carpet and the entrance. Which made it more likely for other guests to wear their outside shoes inside the room.. (especially foreigners). Yes, there were some slippers provided, but they were too small for my husband and he had to walk on the carpet without them..what I really disliked.. Also, we did not have enough space to comfortably open our suitcase.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Easy access to everything, transportation, shopping, dining and sightseeing. Very clean and nice set up for bathroom.
Cons: Long wait for elevator. Not enough for the size of hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous ambiance, talented staff, delicious breakfast buffet, lovely well-outfitted room
Cons: Everything was excellent.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is spot on, easy to access everything and right at the train station. Sound proofing is good, coffee machine food and quality is good.
Cons: Both my partner and I kept coughing and sneezing when moving the duvet in bed.. when getting in or out of bed, or moving the blankets, we’d start sneezing, or getting watery eyes, coughing etc. I think the room must be very dusty, because I seen the desk top was dusty in the morning when we work up. If it’s not dust, then perhaps something hazardous... could be due to the recent opening... construction dust or something?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the station.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is just right above the Sendai Station. We were mistaken between 2 hotels - Metropolitan and Metropolitan Sendai East which one is next to the East exit while the other one is adjacent to the platform. Staff were so helpful, trying to explain how to get to the one that we booked in the station but we couldn't understand what they explained so they just walked us to the hotel instead which was a few steps from the platform. I have asked for the train view, unfortunately the staff gave us the room above the station so didn't see much of the tracks but we just let it go because only 1 night stay. The amenities in the shower room was a surprised - very thoughtful. The internet TV was a nostalgia sooth. We manage to watch our local TV online at the end. In case you worries about the noise - we didn't come across with this at all.
Cons: Though the sign in the station to the hotel was very clear but you still need some help to actually get to the lift to go up to reception unless you walk directly from the Shinkansen track then you will not miss it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location perfect.
Cons: Room too small

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff and clean, quite large rooms. Overall a very good place to stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything, especially the room size.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff is friendly. Free onsen and ramen! Value for money!
Cons: Location is quite far. Had to walk about 15-20 mins to get there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to ferry port and walking distance to outlet mall.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Ample parking lots. Fast check-in, reception staff friendly and well-verse in English. Twin bedroom is very neat and clean, though it's quite small. Segregated area for toilet, wash basin and shower room with no bathtub. Nice touch by the hotel for providing free coffee at the lobby, and soy sauce ramen noodles at late night for supper. Good onsen facilities, with a different numbers of indoor and outdoor pools and tubs, one of the reasons why I always like to stay in a Dormy Inn. Great breakfast, with a variety of dishes, including gyutan, or beef tongue. Just a short walk to Mitsui Outlet Park, and also a convenience store nearby.
Cons: Hotel's location still not available in some navigation maps, or showing a different name. Have to locate visually, thanks to the big sign on the hotel's rooftop.
6.8 Good
Pros: The onsen is particularly nice. The free noodles were very nice too.
Cons: Disappointed that they didn't have baby beds on offer at the hotel, it made sleeping there with an infant much harder. There was also some filth, including a dirty cup, underneath the bed.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: New facility so it was nice and clean.
Cons: It was surrounded by factories.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: onsen in the hotel is a plus.
Cons: Location is a little bit far from the center, but it is really comfortable if you drive. Pleanty of parking lot.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love the onsen.

Pros: Breakfast (included with the room) was delightful. Lounge offered a free flow of (premium) tea, coffee, and hot chocolate pretty much throughout the day. Great location, being within a 5min walk to the Sendai train station.
Cons: Checks all my boxes for a good, comfortable and practical business hotel. Nothing to not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy 5-minute walk to Sendai Station via the overhead bridge (with escalators). A few steps from the hotel entrance: a convenience store, shopping arcade and the yummiest 'taiyaki' I've ever had. Across the street: big 24-hour discount shop Don Quijote that sells everything (duty-free for above 5000yen, with passport). I love the breakfast every morning; small spread of superb quality: freshly-baked pastries, hard-boiled eggs that are done just right with lovely soft yolks that taste so good, bread, soup, salad, fruit, yogurt, milk, juice, cocoa, coffee, tea, and take-away cups if you want to have the beverage in your room. After a full day out, it's nice to come back and relax in the lounge with free drinks and ice-cream, available from afternoon to 11pm; you just help yourself! Thank you very much to all the hotel staff for another wonderful stay that I had in Sendai!
Cons: I asked about shinkansen train timing and I was given the wrong information by the reception. Luckily, it did not really affect my travel plans. For important travel information, it's safest to ask at the tourist information centre at Sendai Station. So actually this is just a note of caution to other travelers as it is my own fault for not checking at the right place earlier. The hotel staff were wonderful, always cheerful and eager to help.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean modern hotel, with contemporary furnishings in light coloured tones. Excellent central location but very quiet. Easy access to transport and a myriad of restaurant options. Breakfast was limited in range but with quality offerings including fresh fruit. Choice of pillows. Efficient reception staff. Good value.
Cons: Small room with bed pushed into one corner.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Breakfast should include more ranges.

Hostel Kiko - Sendai - Building
11
8.6 Excellent (357 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly staff, they all gave us some great recommendations for food and sights nearby. The hostel itself is lovely, it felt very homely and inviting.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A really nice place here! Staffs are all really friendly. The common area on the 2nd floor is really cozy, beds are comfortable, the wallpaper in rooms is cute. It may be a little bit far from Sendai station, but there's a metro station nearby and a supermarket also.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The design of bath room is very-well thoughtful. All the public spaces are well designed.
Cons: none
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are very nice!
Cons: A little far from the central.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: For someone who usually stays in guest houses or B&B accommodation this was still an amazing experience. The dorms are extremely comfortable and clean, the facilities are great, and there is a lovely community atmosphere amongst the staff and guests with lots of scheduled (and some unscheduled) evening activities. Everyone is extremely hospitable and respectful of noise, etc. As there is a lounge upstairs the evening activities do not disturb sleepers. Would totally stay here again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: 15min walking from the JR station. The price is attractive at Sendai. Rooms and equipment are simple but enough for short staying.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for one night in the tatami room (3 people) and it was everything we needed. The room was beautiful, we had plenty of space, and the hostel was clean and convenient. It's about 10/15minutes walk from the station, but very easy to find, and it was in a peaceful neighbourhood. The futons were a little thin, but comfortable enough for one night. We had no problems checking out on time, but there are only 2 showers for men and 2 showers for women, so depending on your group it might take a long time to get through...
Cons: Everything was fine, we had no problems! If you had to rush in the morning, you might have problems using the showers as there aren't many...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed staying at this hostel! The staff were super friendly and nice to talk to. I really liked the upstairs common area: it was very spacious with many places to sit and prepare food. The showers and toilets were also nice and clean and the beds comfortable. I also like that the night curfew was kept to - I've had too many sleepless nights at other hostels due to curfews being ignored. Overall a great stay!
Cons: The beds were a little creaky and shaky so if you're a light sleeper keep this in mind. The bathroom sinks and hairdryers are also in the hallway. Not a deal-breaker, but it was a little awkward getting ready with everyone walking by.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, Very clean factilities
Cons: I used top of bunker bed. ladder for going up is pretty uncomfortable, I hope it should be changed
6.3 Good
Pros: N/A
Cons: No small bench/cabinet inside the bed unit.

Pros: Super nice host, traditional ryokan, easy to stay and clean
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great ryokan with very friendly owners! Traditional yet comfortable and very authentic style. The building is quite old but very nicely renovated and maintained. The small shrine at the small outside garden in the middle of the building is a nice touch!
Cons: Not located near the city center, though the facilities in the neighborhood were good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, true hospitality, feel at home
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful and well maintained hotel. Wonderful attention to details. The bath tub is fabulous!
Cons: VERY STRICT check out time. By 10:05 they were knocking on my door telling me to leave. I was spending the next night there as well and also was told I need to leave by 10. NOT relaxing or very hospitable in this way.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: great location and `I love to stay in a guest house with Japanese style accommodation. The place is super clean
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice ryokan /youth hostel. The people are very friendly. The traditional japanese breakfast is changing every day and was delicious. Also there is a little patio/garden with a shrine. Everything is lovely done and the atmosphere is great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were extremely welcoming, friendly and hospitable and it was a pleasure to stay at Chitoseya Ryokan. The Ryokan is very comfortable and extremely clean; three of us friends shared a room and we had no issues at all. We were welcomed with tea and rice cakes in our room which was a lovely touch. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious and we would highly recommend it! The showers are great and I also took a hot bath which was a perfect end to the night :)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at 1000 Years of Tradition - Akiu Onsen Sakan in Sendai (Taihaku Ward), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Rairaikyo Gorge and Sendai Kaleidoscope Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.8 Good
Cons: Though the hot spring place was amazing, the room I stayed wasn’t very clean, there were spider webs at the corner of our room and the ceiling of the hot spring place.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous setting. Very large, stately old hotel that has some sort of otherworldly charm. You really feel transported to olden Japan when here. The outdoor onsen is perfect. The other onsens are really great too. Clean, well maintained and with all the facilities you would need. Our room was very nice and overlooked the river. Spent a rainy night here which was quite atmospheric. Breakfast was a huge spread and even had beer... Complimentary shuttle to and from Sendai Station - just needs to be booked in advance.
Cons: Nothing much. The hotel is old but I guess that adds to the charm.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very accommodating and customer service was amazing!!
Cons: It was a bit expensive but totally wirth it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The baths are all top class, and the small rotenburo down close to the river is simply wonderful, close enough to feel surrounded by the sounds of the waterfalls and the local frogs while watching the water. And a very satisfying oil massage afterwards. 2 nights, both dinners superb, and although I've lived in Japan for 36 years the chef still surprised me with some new menu items that I've never experienced before!
Cons: The breakfast room atmosphere is a disappointment! No problem at all with the buffet breakfast, but the dining space is depressingly dark; the windows and wall panels on the window side were not open, and the guests were not allowed (so it seemed) to use those window-side tables. And inside that closed-off space the lighting was just not bright enough. It's MORNING, okay? So a bright, light cheerful space should be there for us to wake up in. Open it up, and turn up the lights!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is the best for everything.
Cons: Nothing much activity can do in Akiu.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff who helped check us in and orient us to our room was exceptional. He spoke fluent English so was able to explain everything to us with extra care and detail, including showing us how to properly tie our sachiko. He really was terrific! I regret that we weren't able to say goodbye to him the next day. Also, the buffet breakfast was a highlight from the entire Japan trip. I would definitely recommend treating yourself to this once in a lifetime experience.

7.5 Good
Pros: The staff is really helpful!!!
Cons: We stayed in the private room which is next to the stairs and can clearly hear and felt the footsteps in the room (from both guests and the staff).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staffs are super friendly! Thank you Riu and Rio for your great hospitality! Warm and welcoming place :)
Cons: There was this one guy who wasn't as nice as the other staff. Also, bed's mattress was slim, not so comfy but durable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is cozy, comfortable, clean and has lots of charm. It is GREAT. The area is super quiet, but in 2 mins you're in a night disctrict that's buzzing with life. The common areas are comfortable and inviting (there's a hammock!) and the rooms are also really well taken care of. Both rooms and common space are suited with tatami so enjoy its comfort but be careful not to spill anything! The staff is kind and helpful, specially Nozomi-san, Ryu and "Guratan".
Cons: The wifi on the female dorm is a bit of a fighter! But it's a non-issue when you consider the rest of the great points this establishment has.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners and workers were all wonderful. We spent a long time in conversation. They were useful with finding all the cool hidden gems in the city. Your nearby the nightlife, so there are plenty of restaurants and bars to pick from. There's so much JoJo; it's the best.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warming staff and environments
Cons: It would be incredibly awesome to have a breakfast (just a suggestion)

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very nice and helpful, they speak a little bit English which is convenient. The ryokan is charming, a little far from the station but with the subway it is not a problem. Everything was clean and I felt well here, I recommend!
Cons: The location is not the best, but that is not something anyone can improve. There is a subway station nearby so don't worry.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and Breakfast
Cons: Period Open Onsen in the moring too short
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was great... Enough English is spoken to get everything you need across. Basic questions are not a problem. The room was incredible... And exactly what I was looking for... Traditional, cosy and comfortable! The breakfast served is awesome and very large. The onsen area is perfect... Nice to have a system that allows for a private bath too!
Cons: Everything was perfect!!! The location is the only thing that brought the score down... Not that it's a particular issue... You have to take a bus or train from the main station and then walk a few blocks, but if you have a car... No problems at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are just wonderful. Peaceful place, delicious japanese breakfast. Nice hot onsen.
Cons: Room smelled a little, like stale smoke. I think because the windows could never be opened.

Cons: Not very central
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice and helpful Staff. Room was quiet big and the breakfast really good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The staff are super friendly towards foreigners and locals alike. Though the language barrier maybe hard it was meant with laughs and joy. The onsen is so good and since the place isn't big you are likely to get it by yourself! The breakfast is to die for. And best of all it is reasonably priced to stay. When I come back to Sendai I will definitely come back to stay.
Cons: Nothing. It was amazing

Pros: The location was perfect. Close to everything and a nice view. The room was spacious and clean, the toilet was fully automated, the staff was nice and the onsen was a relaxing place to end your day of sightseeing. Absolute recommendation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We weren't here terribly wrong but the staff at the front desk were super helpful and very friendly. They have a cute photo project involving a plush Date. The bed was more comfortable than at the Premier Mitsui I stayed at before this hotel. The room was very nicely sized. They had a well priced room service menu that served late at night. I've not seen that elsewhere.
Cons: The room had a faint smoky smell to it despite being non-smoking. I sort of wish the whole hotel was non-smoking. The washer and dryer at this hotel were worse than at some of the other places I stayed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location near Sendai Station.

Pros: The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, and the location is great.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: If I remember correctly the hotel was a short walk from the station. I had to book it on such a short notice after missing a flight - the price was good for me. I loved the place!! The staff were friendly, the room was superb! It had a small food prep area, a bathroom and a shower room connected by an area for the sink/dresser. The design of the room was simply amazing it was a bit to sad that I only got to spend that one night in it. The view was splendid as well!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast! One staff member spoke excellent English! Cleaning staff very friendly! Appreciated being able to store my luggage until we were able to check in!!
Cons: MORE HANGERS!! Would have preferred two sheets and a comforter instead of only ONE sheet and the comforter.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: As with other Dormy Inns, this is an economical choice that was well serviced with facilities like the onzite onsen and laundry . It is fairly close to the station, and is close to shops and restaurants. The staff are very helpful.
Cons: The breakfast offering was a set menu with a few options for a buffet - and the beef stew was very unusual to a western pallet.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I choose Dormy Inn for its Hot Spring facility whenever I traveled in Japan if possible. Location is good within waling distance to Sendai station, shops, and restaurants.
Cons: nothing particular
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very silent. The breakfast was absolutely lovely: you can pick bread or croassaint then they give you a a full meal, including a very nice soups; salad buffet and coffee and juice. The coffee was decent. The onsen was nice too.
Cons: The room was a little small, not enough space to open 2 big luggage. Its more suited for business workers with small bags.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room is very clean. Close to station. English-speaking staff. There is an onsen within the premise.
Cons: Breakfast selection became worse since the last time I stayed here.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Near to Sendai station which is direct to airport, and just a few steps to the underground. Lots of restaurants around the hotel.
Cons: The room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. However there is a strong sewage smell from the bathroom. I close the bathroom door and switch on the circulation fan and that seems to work. I don’t use the bathroom in the room throughout my stay there due to the smell. I used the onsen bath instead which is on the third floor.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good in overall
7.0 Good
Pros: We focussed on Onsen and the hotel offered what we exactly looking for. A perfect size public bath. We enjoyed both inside and outside bath. Complimentary noodles was a nice hospitality. The distance from Sendai station to the hotel is a certain walk through the shopping street and save you a time to shop because you can combine the trip on the way back to the hotel.
Cons: The bed was fluffy and the room size was too small. We do not have much space to move around and end up sitting on the bed for daily activity and found it difficult to get up when we sunk on the bed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Onsen
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Cons: The room is wet and the air conditioner smells, bathroom is so small that only allow a man to turn around, that's not possible to take a shower.
7.5 Good
Pros: Guest room so good and Onsen good
