Lakshmi Ecolodge and Holistic Spa is an eco-friendly place that is dedicated to the experiential and holistic tourism in the Loreto region of Peru. It is located 192km from the city of Iquitos, in the native community called Nueve De Octubre , which is on the left bank of the river MARAÑÓN in the buffer zone and in front of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (PSNR). With an area of approximately 57 hectares, you can spot up to 15 different types of ecosystems of the Peruvian Jungle from the lodge.
The Pacaya Samiria is one of the largest natural areas protected by the state of Peru, with an area of 2,080,000 hectares. In 1940, It was originally established as a reserve in the basin of the Pacaya River in order to protect the "Paiche" Arapaima area Gigas, the world's largest freshwater fish. Currently, the reserve protects the entire watershed of the Pacaya Samiria and the rivers. In 1982, the PSNR was expanded to its current size to preserve the flora, fauna, and scenic beauty that featured in the tropical Amazon rainforest. The lodge features 5cottages and the main dining room. Founder Nancy Rosadio’s inspiration for how the lodge was built came from the sacred geometry of the ancient Egyptian architecture.
