Very nice hotel, good facilities and friendly helpful staff.
the interesting old building. The surrounding countryside. The 31 Euro Dinner menu gave limited choice but food was interesting and of a good standard. Little English was spoken by most staff though they were helpful and friendly.
The courtyard is a blissful, relaxing area and the upper verandah has exquisite views of the courtyard and the storks nesting in the trees just outside. The service staff were delightful, particularly Santiago in the bar and the charming waitress in the dining room.Fabulous building and beautiful surroundings. The hotel had construction outside, on the roof (with strong smell and noise) and in the interior en route to our room. The first day it was not too bad as it was public holiday but on the second day it was excessive. The hotel sent champagne to compensate but there had been no advice on the web site that the hotel was under renovations.
Delightful dinner in the entrance courtyard; great sense of history by staying in this old castle; great swimming-pool area Certain areas currently under renovation so difficult to get good pictures, work scheduled to finish end July.
Interesting Castle well restored. Lovely location in quiet town, new rooms pleasant but no view, old ones in Castle very good. Food good but over-priced, no simple meals available. Could not organise better rooms easily.
Great location; one of the nicest Paradors we've stayed in
large and free parking, very comfortable large beds and spacious room and balcony that opened to the riverside. really quiet and nice the sound of the river and view on mountains. the bathroom was very well equipped incuding toothbrush set, sewing set, shaving set etc. :) the village is very close (1km) but it is complicated to go there walking because there is no light on the road so you risk by being hit by a car, then again if you take the car there is enough parking space in the entrance of the village.
great hotel, good location, excellent room, great price. no
The room was exceptionally spacious and comfortable with two armchairs and a terrace with mountain river view. The staff were friendly and very helpful despite being nervous with foreigners as they tried to understand our fluent Portuguese, our broken Spanish, and they had no understanding of English. A new hotel clearly making an effort to improve and we will probably return. The wifi stopped working completely after an initial successful login. The breakfast is basic. The restaurant is overpriced. Food is standard (low quality) hotel fare presented in style and priced at luxury rates. Fortunately plenty of choice 1 km down the road.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and quiet. The continental breakfast included in room fare is quite good. We enjoyed the scenic location and the friendly staff.
The view from my room was marvelous no
The hotel was very new, quiet and the staff were very friendly. I would definately recommend the hotel. Breakfast was taken in a downstairs room which was very dark, which was a shame.
the location & views It was last week in June, although hotel open for business, it & services in area gearing up for holiday rush so very quiet, swimming pools, restaurants etc were closed & full menus not available.
No smoking; spacious; comfortable bed Heating not switched on in the morning (we were at 1100 metres altitude), lack of good restaurant in house; poor breakfast available at extra charge. No undercover parking.
room size, nice location lack of flexibility of the reception and the owners (said breakfast was only at 8.30h and then was earlier), bad breakfast, noise between rooms is horrible, you can not sleep. the toilet seat was broken
The location is very quiet, outside the actual village. Beautiful mountain views from the room, well maintained grounds with little swimming pool and some sun beds. Small hotel (about 6 rooms), very quiet mon-fri, somewhat busier in weekends. Small but clean rooms with good shower. Friendly staff (hotel is run by family; husmand, wife and little daughter). The breakfast, advertised as a "buffet" is very simple and shows no variation whatsoevr. Two trays with jelly, coffee, juice, cake and toast and milk are not a buffet....
the very nice surrounding and the quietness It is a bit expensive for the comfort
Very nice rooms, with great view to the river and the castle. the living room and the bar is excellent for a 3 star hotel. the guest don´t have control over the room temperature. It get´s too hot with the central heating.
The panoramic views from the hotel are absolutely stunning. A very quiet, peaceful location with plenty to see and do. Prices were quite high for food and drinks in the hotel.
The location was excellent, in the countryside near the North slopes of Sierra de Gredos. The room (double level) was luxurius.. The double level room is not appropriate for a family with a very young child (3 years), especially when it was no possible to place the 3 beds on the same floor. Use of swimming pool was extra charged !!. Breakfast was also charged 15 euros/person extra. Staff do not speak English at all so communication was difficult even for simple requests.
It was a very good stay. Very quite and relaxing. I booked the room with SPA included. But at the reception was told that the SPA should be booked first. Had no chance to use the SPA. I would recommend not to book room with SPA. Book that service directly at the hotel.
The hotel stands in its own grounds and is well away from the nearest town which has absolutely nothing to commend it. The reformation of this historic building is very interesting and makes for an enjoyable experience, and is a nice change from the typical new hotels that seem to be everywhere. The breakfast was acceptable, but certainly not up to the standard that one would expect at a four star hotel.
The location is very peaceful; the rooms very comfortable. Our lack of Spanish and their lack of English made ordering dinner, and an early breakfast, a bit of an exercise!
The hotel is a beautifully converted historic buiding set in the superb countryside of the Gredos mountains. There is a degree of designer flair in the room conversions and reception areas and all the staff we met were extremely helpful. The hotel is quite difficult to find and better maps are needed. It is too far to walk to the local town (El Barco de Avila), and a trip into the town for dinner was disappointing. (These comments are not of course criticisms of the hotel)
We selected the hotel Izan Puerta de Gredos for its location close to "Sierra de Gredos". The atmosphere and the location of the hotel were excellent, relaxing surroundings and the access to the mountains, nature and picturesque villages was easy. The room was comfortable and the breakfast had a good selection of products.
I stayed one night booking.com and a further 6 nights in conference.I think the hotel is poor. I cannot imagine anyone staying there in the winter. It is a gracious building and in a pleasant area. Possibly good for walkers. The majority of the rooms are not 4 star quality - no views (obstructed by fire escapes) - at least one with only a skylight. Mine was ground floor with a path outside and no curtains. Cleanliness is dubious -ants among the breakfast bread, and on the floor of the dining room. Dead flies in my bedroom not removed for three days. No outdoor pool or any kind of exterior seating seating. To say that it has gardens simply isn't true. There are areas of roughly cut field. Indoor pool/spa/gym poor and expensive. Should be free. Local village is typical, but it is too far to walk comfortably and offers little entertainment. Not much in the way of local information and no newspapers of any kind.
views, setting Restaurant is too enclosed, breakfast, need to pay extra to use pool no outdoor sitting area and place is in an excellent location !
