10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Staying at Posada at the end of a lengthy motorcycle trip was a real treat. I only wished I had stayed longer and will not hesitate to make this my next stop on my next trip. Will definitely stay longer and explore the region too. The host being a geologist was great in explaining the local geomorphology, which is spectacular! The host is very welcoming and it’s obvious that she takes great pride in her house, garden and cooking. Dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning were excellent and reflected the fresh produce from the region with many ingredients coming from the Posada’s own garden. The guest sitting and galleried library space room are very cosy, with wood burning stove to keep the chill off. I stayed in the single room, which was far more luxurious (with large bed) than most doubles I’ve stayed in! All in all I couldn’t recommend staying at the Posada highly enough. Until next time!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Pros: This lovely boutique place to stay was a real surprise. The very generous and delightful hosts added to our one night stay. Our room was very spacious with our own lounge area adjacent to our room. The Hotel has been beautifully styled and decorated catering for guests' needs. We were served a lovely dinner which we had previously ordered along with wine as well. The local fare was all very tasty, fresh and nicely cooked. Breakfast was also enjoyable and the coffee was fantastic. We had thunder and lightning after retiring and lost power but an emergency light came on in our bedroom which was awesome. Cons: Need more comfortable outside seating

Pros: The warmth of the welcome from Javier and his family. The fantastic food - the beautiful location. A days bird watching was unforgettable. A memorable stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The converted mill was lovely and in a fabulous location. Beautifully peaceful and relaxing. The food was excellent (especially as I am dairy free) with local produce. Javier & Valvanera, were fantastic hosts, not only quietly ensuring everything was right for us but also providing walking routes and maps in the spectacular limestone canyons near-by. We also had a great day birding with Javier who is extremely knowledgeable and we saw a spotted crake much to everyone's pleasure! Overall this is a lovely place to visit - we will return.
Cons: Nothing. This is a converted mill that has retained all its features and charm. It is comfortable without being luxurious. It is fairly remote so you need to enjoy the peace and quiet - which we do.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Typical Spanish breakfast - we asked for it. We enjoyed everything we were served with pleasure. The host - an amazing bird enthusiast. He told us a lot about his hobby, but not enough, becouse were there too short. Fantastic location: peace, quiet and the sound of the flowing river. Rooms very clean, including toilet. If only we have the opportunity, we will be back there
Cons: I think nothing to improve. Maybe just that we could not eat dinner. But it's my fault because I did not ask for supper. I did not see the bar. :-)
Hotel Doña Jimena - Villarcayo - Building

8.9 Excellent (216 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, spacious and excellent location
Cons: nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hugely friendly and accommodating host who spoke very good English indeed. Hotel is modern with traditional styling, dark wood in the rooms, very comfortable large beds, large reception area with lots of comfortable sofas. The pool area needs a little TLC but we were there very early in the year and it might not have been expecting visitors yet! Breakfast was excellent - best we had on our trip. Potato omelette, little bacon and ham pastries, tuna pie, boiled eggs, sweet things, fruit, freshly prepared toast, tea as well as coffee and freshly made orange juice. Their restaurant is right next door to the hotel but we ate out as it doesn't open until 9pm which was a bit later than we hoped to eat. Town is a very short drive away - reasonably easy to park and the church is interesting. We went to the restaurant about 6km out of town on the road to Medina de Pomar called La Taxuela as it opened at 8pm for us (I rang and they agreed to open a little early) Food there was magnificent! Parking at the hotel is easy - right alongside and part covered. There is also a Jacuzzi in the pool area and there is a lift to the rooms.
Cons: Pool area needs a little TLC but I suspect in full season it will have been done.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast surpassed our expectations. There was so much choice. Everything was delicious

Pros: Comfortable, classically styled hotel where bedrooms surround an attractive central atrium furnished with easy chairs and sofas. Large bedroom equipped with minibar, comfy chairs etc. Good spacious functional marble clad bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast. Our particularly welcoming host spoke excellent English. He is full of enthusiasm for the tourist possibilities within the locality, giving us lots of ideas for sightseeing and route planning. There is excellent tourist information provided. Adjacent restaurant is good, but quite expensive. Nearby town of Villarcayo is about 15 minutes walk, offering all facilities. Fantastic garage parking for our motorbikes. Specialist in electric bicycles.
