Pros: The homeliness, spontaneity, authenticity and directness is what we are looking for and find here. By Olivier and Leila. The place on the river, the "petit dejeuner", the safety place for the motorcycle, ... there are a lot of reasons to come back. Ream friendly people is what we need on this world. Thanks. Wishes you both the best. W @ Ch
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is old, and full of character and charm. Olivier has restored/modernised it sensitively without compromising the character.
Cons: A stronger wi fi signal is the only small thing I would improve.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful hosts, a spectacularly good breakfast (a cheeseboard and homemade pancakes and jams, as well as the usual range of bread, pastries, yoghurts and fruit) and we much enjoyed our cold beers down by the river after a long drive. Our downstairs room was dark and not huge, but it was very comfortable, and lovely and cool despite it being mid-30s outside. The spacious bathroom (shower and basin) was inside the appt, but the loo was just outside, at the foot of the stairs to the appt above. This didn't bother us, but it might bother others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful host, comfortable bed and room. Excellent breakfast overlooking the river, beautiful location
Cons: All very good, loved everything

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an exceptionally lovely place to stay. We were warmly greeted and shown around the house. Our room was very beautifully furnished and large. As a bonus, Frederic recommended a very good local restaurant situated in a stunning village. Breakfast was generous and a quantity of fresh bread and pastries made it very special. Frederic has a great eye for detail and presentation. He is a most charming host. We would certainly come again.
Cons: no comments here. We only found everything charming and beautiful here
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The authentic French experience, with the accommodation and the host.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is our second stay here lovely quirky place to stay. Our host Fredric is exceptional very warm an welcoming. Plenty of parking good breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our Host Frederic could not have been more welcoming. A really lovely man. The whole Manor is decorated with all sorts of paintings and delightful and interesting objects. Our room was totally different to modern standard hotel rooms. It was perfectly clean with all the usual facilities, but decorated in a wonderful eccentric style. We loved it. The breakfast was beautifully laid out and the breads and pastries were delicious and the fresh made coffee was perfect. A top class French breakfast. Well done Frederic. We would recommend you to anyone passing near Alencon.
Cons: Our only disappointment was that there were no restaurants open in the village in the evening. So you would have to drive to Alencon to dine. This would mean one of your party would have to forgo enjoying a nice French wine. Drink driving in France is, quite rightly, very strict.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Le Belforest was an amazing find! We had a very lovely big room with a huge terrace with great views. Highly recommended and we hope the owners get many guests for this lovely room and their gite!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a really beautiful house in an outstanding party of the French countryside-so peaceful, the perfect place to relax and see nature - we saw deer and heard owls at night, it was magical! Our hosts were kind and welcoming -we really did not want to leave.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and quiet location and lovely hosts! We would definitely come back here. The breakfast was great with many local or home made products. The room was big, modern bathroom and beautiful view.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We decided to give LeBelforest a try, since the hotels to the north were all booked up. We were cycling the Veloscenic bikeway and this was on the way (only a slight detour). We were very impressed, since this was a hotel that was nothing like we had been to before on our trip. We were treated to having dinner with the family that runs the hotel, which was great because this facility is located out in the country with no restaurants nearby. We stayed up until late telling stories and learning a lot about nature and the farmlands around. This was one of the standout places that we stayed at along our trip. If you want to spend a relaxing day out in the countryside, please give this a try.
Cons: The only downside was that we couldn't stay longer here.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place. We were happily suprised both by the hostility, room and location. The breakfast was great, room cosy and not to warm.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful; lovely rooms and although close to the motorway it is quiet and very secluded.
Cons: Not a dislike as the crepes for breakfast were enjoyable but if there was also fruit and or cereals then a 10 out 10 rating would be achieved
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely cool room on an extremely hot day. Host made us feel relaxed and welcome. Breakfast was amazing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect,. Nice breakfast,,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Best home made breakfast and coffee!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 nights at this maison, from the moment we arrived we felt welcome. The owner, Natalie speaks perfect English and she is a fabulous host. The room was perfectly presented, the breakfast is a joint effort with Philippe (Natalie's husband) making the most wonderful crepes for the guests before he leaves for work, fresh fruit (grown on the property), homemade jam's, yogurt and bread-pudding, plus bread, cereal and croissants make breakfast a real highlight! The property is only a short distance from local shops, restaurants, and bars, and yet is situated in beautiful countryside. I can not recommend La Suzannerie enough, we will certainly return.
Cons: There are only two things I don't like: 1. That we couldn't stay longer. 2. That my review might mean more people stay and on our next trip they are fully booked!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Small and friendly bed and breakfast, the owner is fluent in English and very helpful and chatty. Delightful room furnished and decorated with local antiques, comfy bed, tea and coffee, fridge and microwave, excellent bathroom. Beautiful garden, great breakfast and place to sit outside in the sun.
Cons: Everything was lovely.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. The biggest welcome in the morning and the best breakfast for a large family including a baby. We all left very happy, very full and the whole experience made our day. My kids still talk about the fossils and helping water the garden. Thank you, we will be back.

Pros: Beautiful setting, excellent location, friendly hosts who went over and above to accommodate us with a baby, we had a fantastic stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome & helpfulness of the owner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A family home steeped in interesting history allowing us a glimpse of the bygone days. Both our hosts were splendid and the excellent meal was a bonus. Comfortable and cosy room, just the thing after a long drive. Would liked to have stayed a few days but travel plans could not allow.
Cons: Nothing springs to mind and if I have to search for a negative then it really is not appropriate.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tastefully maintained house, we were made to feel like family!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a privilege to stay in such an exquisite historic family home surrounded by beautiful art and furniture.
Cons: Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of a heatwave and in spite of the best efforts of our hosts it was uncomfortably warm in the bedroom and dining room. Also the wine should have been chilled more for our taste.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stunning country house in lovely parkland; very refreshing swimming pond; fantastic hosts - Herve and Jacqueline looked after us very well after our long drive giving us a simple but tasty supper in the garden. An authentic French experience.
Cons: Hard to think what could have been improved, but this is not the place for you if you are looking for cable TV or an extensive menu.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: No price list of dinner or wine Limited choice of dinner(2)limited choice of wines(2)No choice of dessert.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The ambience
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful house in lovely setting. The lady of the house cooked us a dinner with another couple also staying there and it was delicious.
Cons: The property itself is quite lovely but when you arrive be sure to park around the back and not before the arrival time stated, if you do not want to incur the wrath of the Marquis. I am not sure he quite forgave us!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel employee are wonderful hosts. We arrived late afternoon and took the time to explore the beautiful domain. The atmosphere at dinner was formal but relaxed and convivial with aperitif and after-dinner drinks thrown in. Pets and child friendly.

Pros: What a great little hotel. I stayed in the St Honore suite which is the biggest room I have ever stayed in and had everything you could need and more - it's just a shame I was only stayingfor one night. The evening meal was exceptional Pascal is an amazing chef and Isabelle did a great job explaining the courses and ingredients as she brought them out. Breakfast was also a treat with a selection of homemade items. A great way to end our holiday.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent evening meal. Very comfortable, big characterful rooms. Very kind and caring owners.
Cons: Difficult to find; chateau not on SatNav. Sign board only visible from one direction. Access to chateau from car park not clear.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful building in a beautiful surrounding. The room (suite St. Honore) is huge and marvelous. Breakfast was amazingly tasty and beautifully arranged. Dinners - we had three - were excellent: with wine, it’s really a bargain. Three friendly dogs add to the relaxed atmosphere. We had such a wonderful time! Many perfect spots for reading, daydreaming and quiet conversations. Although secluded, the place is a good base for traveling and touring Le Perche.
Cons: Wi Fi and cellular service are challenging: infrastructure allows only 1Mbs. Some might find this problematic, others will enjoy the getaway (for me it was an unexpected bliss). Anyhow, there are spots that allow service, in the lobby or in the front garden.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good, everything fresh. Dinner was good as well, it comes as an extra, but at a reasonable price. It's also a great spot for some outside pictures.

Cons: No shower in the room - bath only. No air conditioning, which normally wouldn't be a problem but when it's 37c outside it's sorely missed.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The grounds are large and fun to walk. The hotel looks beautiful and has an interesting eclectic decor. Le Riad restaurant in town was a good recommendation.
Cons: The manager would not give a time for the room to be ready. We wandered the streets . Our ID was not checked. The hotel is beautiful in the pictures but poorly maintained. The smaller rooms are not just smaller, they are poorer quality. Not shabby chic, just shabby. Saggy beds, stained areas, broken flooring. Upstairs low ceilings The manager did not check passports. He then left and never returned. Pool security is poor. Pool area dead grass, broken tiling and no service. Dinner menu is a multi course obligation. Wifi doesn't work much if at all. Our shower consisted of a windowless tanked box. When we pointed out these problems they said we were just being difficult.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spot less and very very friendly
Cons: Nothing to not like about it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location, excellent breakfast
Cons: A bit too B&B for our tastes. Could do with more personal space.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Terrible WIFI overpriced
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast, kettle in room.
Cons: Plastic cups, felt everything was minimal. Little things would have made a big difference at little cost. A carafe of water with a glass, more teabags, coffee, some milk. A book of local walks, restaurants etc., not just mass printed tourist board brochures. Personal touch lacking. Not up to standard for price. Too cold for a shower.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The welcome and interest from the owners of this family B&B was lovely. The house is well maintained in lovely grounds in a small rural village. The inclusive breakfast was simple but tasty, with a lovely selection of home-made jams.
Cons: Although this was not a problem for us, be aware that the owners do not take debit or credit cards. Cash Only. Also, the hosts' English (still better than my French) is not fluent. They make up for that with interest and effort!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful host. Lovely homemade jams and yoghurt for breakfast. Good value for money.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast - nice big crossaints, homemade yoghurt & jams
Cons: It states there is WIFI throughout - there is not. Had to come out of bedroom, walk across to the other side of the house and then you get a signal - clearly not ideal! The bathroom stunk of drains, couldn't wait to have a quick shower and get out of there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warm welcome and friendliness of the hosts. Very helpful in accommodating my friend's dietary requirements. Warm, comfortable and clean room. Lovely surroundings and wildlife in the garden.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Really lovely place in a beautiful setting. The hosts were were very helpful. Wonderful Continental breakfast with homemade jams. Very peaceful setting.
Cons: My only suggestions are to perhaps fit a lock on the bathroom door by the pool and wifi is not not that great if you have a internet obsessed teenager!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location. Owners Eric and Catherine were very welcoming and helpful. In the evening we had a lovely salad+dessert+wine for 25 euro - sitting in the sun looking at a wonderful view across the fields. The property is old and beautifully restored. The room was spacious and spotless. We had a very good continental breakfast in the morning.
Cons: We were told we would be sharing the bathroom with one other person which we weren't expecting but it didn't really matter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully restored old farm house close to the main road but far enough away to be totally quiet with a lovely country feel. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and spoke just enough English to make things easy. We had a light evening meal of bread, cheese and cold cuts with a lovely bottle of red which was very reasonably priced, after which we sat in the garden to soak up the evening sun. I would definitely stay there again an would recommend it.
Cons: Nothing

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Hospitable hosts and the rooms were well equipped and tastefully decorated. The hosts don’t speak much English but we managed to overcome that with good humour and school girl French.
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Nice comfortable room and a good stop over for travelling home. Good breakfast.
Cons: The description about the WiFi is misleading - it is NOT free unless you are on the Orange phone network. I would have expected it to be free given the price of the room.
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was nothing to dislike.
Cons: No restaurant facilities
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was excellently equipped for an overnight stay, everything was scrupulously clean and everything worked as it should. That is just what you'd expect, but we all know how often that is not the case. The fully enclosed garden is very pleasant and parking is very private. We used Alençon as a stopover while driving to the Loire, and it turned out to be much more pleasant than we had expected.
Cons: There was little not to like as long as you knew what to expect. On a couple of occasions during our one night stay, staff were difficult to find - once, they were simply not on site.
9.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant location, welcoming saff speaking perfect English, nice rural surroundings and village. You can really feel there how amazing La Perche is! 5 stars, we had a great time there!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting, showing wear and tear but acceptable.
Cons: Studio flats are very small
5.8 Okay
Pros: Very peaceful location and spacious studio apartment
Cons: The over bearing plug in room fragrance to cover up where smokers had been. Kitchen drawer wasn't that clean, bathroom was dimly lit and toilet loosely fixed to the wall. A lump of melted cancdle wax should of been removed with some old broucheres left by people before.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room we stayed in was very nice and comfortable and clean
Cons: We was put in a studio with out no terrace or balcony for the weekend and it was when I mentioned it on the monday that we was offered in our itinerary a terrace or balcony then we was moved to a room with a nice terrace we was very dissapointed when we arrived
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well presented, spacious, everything you could want - even for an overnight stay on our way to Brittany.
Cons: Nothing, all great
5.0 Okay
Pros: Basic, uncomplicated stay. Good wi-fi access.
Cons: Closet was full of mould, mouldy smell spreading to the all apartment. No oven , limited privacy , curtains barely covering windows for a ground floor flat .Other residents parked their car all around the apartment including one raving and fixing her engine under our window (?!!)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment is comfortable, equipped, spacious and warm. The place is quiet.
Cons: Cleaning the floor could be better.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful, quiet and picturesque. We had plenty of room in our apartment within walking distance of a bar, restaurant and fantastic golf course. We took a cart and enjoyed a challenging course, we even took a break and went back to our apartment for lunch half way through.
Cons: That we didn’t have an oven after buying frozen pizza for dinner and google trying to take us along narrow lanes instead of the easy main road.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good sized apartment with nice bathroom with shower, comfy bed
Cons: You need to head for the Golf resort to find the properties
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Haut Val is situated in a quiet and beautiful spot within easy walking access to lovely Belleme town.
Cons: Inadequate hanging space for clothes.
Domitys Le Jardin des Lys - Alençon - Building
16
8.8 Excellent (58 reviews)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious, clean & dog friendly
Cons: Didn’t realise it was part of a care home so thought we were in the wrong place
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Made this our overnight stop on the way south. It was an excellent choice. Spacious, clean, quiet, private and with easy parking on the doorstep. Equipped with hob, microwave, fridge and all necessary cutlery, china etc for 4 people to cook a meal - despite what was said on one previous review. Aldi just up the road if you want to self cater, or it's a short drive to Alençon centre with its restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It would have been helpful if the management had corrected the previous visitors comment about lack of facilities to cook and eat a meal in the bungalow. We were surprised to find those things there and would have planned to eat there had we known.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The place was large, airy and spotlessly clean.
Cons: The location wasn't great with not much choice of places to eat but it was just a stopover so it did perfectly suit us and there was an Aldi around the corner so was able to get items to make our evening meal.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - Extremely large apartments with great coffee machine, fridge, microwave, hob and sink. - we stayed just one night as a stop over to shorter our journey to Calais from the Dordogne.
Cons: - Not a negative but think this place is an old people’s home with external apartments they rent out. Wasn’t a problem at all though as we didn’t use their breakfast room or facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very spacious and clean
Cons: Not close enough to town so nowhere near to eat Also seemed like an OAP holiday/retirement village not quite sure what was going on!?!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: An overnight stop for us only. Exceeded expectations in that it was a very clean and modern ground floor appartment. The appartment seems to be part of a private and expensive retirement home complex. Would definately use again.
Cons: Nothing not to like. Would have preffered more wall electrical connections points (we had many mobile devices to plug in and charge!) Be aware that the appartment location is not walking distance from the town centre. There is not much around in the vacinity. Restaraunts and town centre are a short drive over the river and left into the 'centre-ville'.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was self contained with its own front and back door. The apartment was well furnished with kitchenette, cooking plate, fridge (with water included) microwave, table & chairs, crockery, kettle, coffee machine and coffee/ herbal tea provided. Large sofa, 2 chairs and large t.v. The two bedrooms were very large with a wonderful deep mattress. Separate toilet and a very good sized shower room with a large shower. Complementary toiletries. We accidently found a Vietnamese restaurant just about 400 yards from the residence. From the apartment front door, go to the top of the road and turn right past the front of the home. Keep walking and then the road forks and the restaurant is in the centre of the fork. Fabulous, inexpensive food. The Vietnamese couple that run it also do take away. The few other customers were so helpful to us trying to explain the menu as no one spoke much English and we have sparse French. Great food and fun too. Well worth a visit. We think the apartments are fabulous which have probably been designed for family wanting to stay a few days to visit family in the home. However apart from getting the key at reception everything else was great. Now we know, we would go again.
Cons: The apartments are adjacent to the main building which is an OAP home. We could not get into the property when we first arrived as we were let into the gate by someone coming out so did not notice the bell at the side of the gate. Once inside the gate the main door was not open but eventually someone came who knew about the bell outside and someone came and eventually we were checked in. The advert says bar, restaurant etc but these are really for the residents and close very early.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Suitably comfortable, good beds
Cons: very basic kitchen equipment, It would be nice to have a bread board / chopping board, a colander or sauce pan with a lid. A cork screw ! one is in France after all ! A handle in the WC for disabled / limited mobility guests.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Apartment large. Car parking directly outside door.
Cons: WiFi didn't work - reception gave incorrect code and closed 8pm before we noticed. No TV remote in room and again nobody in hotel to help. Cupboard / cutlery tray full of water. Bottle opener didn't work. No spa or gym facilities available as prromised. Room literature in room only promoting retirement home not hotel facilities!!!! Breakfast dreadful! Paid 8.50€ for mini croissant, small piece of bread & jam and drinks. Told nothing else. Receptionist not enough authority to discount so had to pay as leaving before manager arrived. Would never use again. Paid €110 for bed and no facilities! Bar shut at 8pm so couldn't even drown out sorrows!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast which we could have had served in our apartment. The facilities were excellent and we had our own front door and a small secluded garden.. Ideal for independent living. We also had full cooking facilities.
Cons: t would have been good to have had additional grab rails in the bathroom and toilet. Otherwise it was perfect for my husband who is disable as everything is on one level with wide doors and parking at the front door.

Pros: Isolated location, setting, buildings, lovely welcoming owners and wonderful locally grown breakfast ingredients, also nearby town of Sées
9.5 Excellent
Pros: An absolutely beautiful setting and a wonderful building full of interesting features. Fabienne and her husband were so kind and welcoming. A wonderful surprise was the fantastic food, we had a fabulous dinner with fresh produce from the kitchen garden. This would be a great place for a romantic get away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Old world feel. Good breakfast. Friendly host once she accepted we had booked a room.
Cons: Needing to pay cash. Difficulty getting there. Inability to lock outside door to unit.
7.5 Good
Pros: A beautifully restored chateau in extensive grounds. We enjoyed wandering around the wooded area in the morning. The rooms were grand and beautiful. We played our games in the green out the front. The owner was very welcoming and friendly.
Cons: It was over priced for our needs really. We were looking for a stop over and had booked the bubbles, but they were both too far away from each other to accommodate our family of 5 so we stayed in two adjoining rooms. It's more of a Romantic getaway, really. The breakfast was mediocre, with very dry brownies, bread and jam.
7.5 Good
Cons: Lack of restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had one night in this beautiful chateau. Idyllic and relaxing location. Historic Chateau full of character, and therefore a special experience. Very spacious room. Very friendly hosts. Couples and families equally welcome. A special place.
Cons: We liked it all, but the chateau is an old building so you accept that the shower is not as modern as in other hotels! Breakfast was OK (bread, but no croissants!) but we have had better ones on our travels.
5.5 Okay
Pros: A little worn. Beds very uncomfortable but a lovely, quiet area with stunning views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere , the peaceful environment, the sympathy from of the owners ( very understanding with my bad French)
Cons: It’s a french way of living, I suppose: wc and shower in separate rooms. I have issues to getting used to it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, beautiful place and very welcoming

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was good as an overnight stop over on the way home, the staff were very friendly and we had a good meal considering they don't open the Bar/Restaurant to the public on Monday, just for the people staying in the hotel and basic menu. Breakfast is simple continental but adequate.
Cons: You can only use one device for wifi per room.

Pros: Great location in the centre of a lovely village. Staff were excellent.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, good food, well located.
Cons: The room was a little cramped. The bathroom was too small - you couldn't get to the toilet without squeezing past the washbasin and shutting the door first. I could not use the shower as the was super hot and I couldn't regulate it.
