The hotel is close to many attractions for families, and the Museum of Natural History and the Children's Museum are within walking distance. The 96 St Metro Station is just minutes away and will quickly take you to top New York attractions like Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Theater District.
I hate manhatten. i guess that is the value for money you get in the city. just a good location and friendly and nice staff.
dump... a small room in the size of my kitchen if not less, had to wait 20 minutes for elevators, not the best smells ever...
The location cannot be beat. Just two subway stops on the 2 or 3 train to Times Square. Plenty of great restaurants in an appealing neighborhood that has all the amenities. Hotel staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Some rooms have been renovated. Beds are very comfortable. Maid staff are efficient and responsive.
The hotel has two elevator banks, but one of them has been in disrepair for many months. Unfortunately, the hotel needs both banks of elevators working to provide sufficient access to the rooms and lobby.
Good location. That was the only positive.
Room was dirty and smelled of chemicals. The sheets were dirty, the pillows smelled terrible, and several towels had what appeared to be dried blood on them. Additionally, I was locked out of my room for 45 minutes due to issues with the lock, the business center was inaccessible per staff, and the staff was generally incompetent. It is cheap, yes, but that doesn't make up for it's general terribleness.
The bed had bedbugs in it!!! I had to throw all my clothes out. Will never book this place again!!
The room was very clean and spacious.
IT WAS PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE PRICE INDICATED. NOT A BAD LOCATION W/ A ROOM YOU COULD SLEEP IN.
The location was excellent since there's a subway station less than a block away and the area is packed with restaurants and eateries. The hotel rates are cheap for NYC standards. There's lots of parking lots in the area where you can leave your car for a cheap fare if you print a coupon. The hotel bed was comfortable and the staff was very attentive. In general good value for money since we only were at the hotel for sleeping.
The AC was noisy. The shower was IMPOSSIBLE, the temperature fluctuates from extremely hot to extremely cold all the time. Additionally the bathtub is very slippery. The hotel in general needs a 'face lift' but it's not terrible.
Small room and dirty bathroom
The location cannot be beat. You are in the middle of the upper west side but seconds away from the subway and buses that will put you anywhere in Manhattan in minutes. Great restaurants are within walking distance, the Manhattan Diner and the Paris Bakery are great inexpensive places to pick up good eats.
The rooms are tiny, half of the elevators do not work and the hot water is sketchy at best. There is no way to reach the front desk from your room. If you are looking for amenities there are none.
They didn't specify what kind of room I was getting and when I got to the hotel they said I booked a full size bed room. Thats not what I wanted so I had to pay extra to get a bigger room.
The location and cost were excellent. Cost was reasonable given it was the holiday season. The room was extremely clean, with a spacious bathroom and closet. The internet was convenient. I have to also give props to the very polite staff. However, the telephones did not work, the cable was staticy, the ice machine was only available on the 11th floor, and the elevators were beyond slow. I will say because of the awesome location, we were rarely in our room/needed the TV.
good location, very close to subway
the toilet flushes too slow
Location, rooms, service
Dumpy hotel in a not so great location.
Bad elevators, no coffee in the morning, real slow wifi.
Almost nothing! The area is ok though.
Non working wifi (had to try 3 rooms!) Smelly room Non clean corridors Elevators are crap $200/day for that??!!! Got a nice hostel for less than half the price (so good)
-My room key didn't work and I had to go to the lobby twice before I was given one that worked. -The hotel only had 2 elevators so the wait was quite long. -When I returned on Sat. evening to take a shower there was no hot water. -I felt that the price for the quality of the room was way overpriced. -This is the first time that I used Kayak and not sure if I'd use it again. Irene
The location was excellent.
The TVs are outdated and had a small list of channels to watch.
The location has everything you need . It is perfect and I think the location is what makes this hotel worthy going back to.
The inside of the room looked old compared to the look of the lobby. The carpet was torn down
Of four elevators, only one works Cold water faucet was leaking, needs to turn the water on/off by turning the valve
Location is the best thing you can say about this hotel. if you want to visit the tourist areas of NY then this puts you close to everything - hop on subway which is just half a block from hotel or take a stroll to central park, just 3 blocks away. Lots of interesting places to eat near hotel.
Firstly this hotel is owned and operated by an independant company and operates under Days Inn (so if you expect a certain quality of Days Inn you will be disappointed). The carpets stink and are dirty - try walking in stocking feet and see how dirty socks get! The smell is masked by some sort of coverup smelling product. Stayed for 9 days and sign said elevators out of order one side of building which left just two elevators for guests and housekeeping. We were on 10th floor and used stairs majority of time but had to use elevator for check out (took nearly 20 minutes to get elevator that was not full of others also trying to check out - so timing is everything). The picture of gym on web page a joke - have 2 pieces of equipment in a very mirrored room - and only one piece worked! If you are an early riser expect to see homeless people resting in sofas at reception area. It seems desk staff are used of people complaining about elevators and carpets as they just shrugged when anything was said to them, suggests to me they know owners don't care one bit! Housekeeping staff very friendly and attentive . Did wake up one morning to a cockroach crawling up the wall nice! With a little bit of cash put in by owners this hotel could easily be value for money. If not for location would not of stayed.
first of all, i tried calling days Inn ahead of time to see my booking and no one seemed to know anything of it. anyway, to make matters worse... when me and my boyfriend checked in, we couldnt get into our room till late 3pm that day, once we got our room, we asked for a nonsmoking room, and we got a smoking room. our bath water was clogged; wouldnt drain, our room telephone wasnt working, our bed had a nasty stain on it, our ac vent was ductaped to the window. i checked out 3 hours after checking in. please i need my refund of the full amount of $128.
Hotel was very nice. The woman at the front desk upgraded our bed from a double to a king size, no extra cost. The room had a TV. Would be nice if they had a mini fridge and microwave but regardless it was perfect. The subway is right across the street. Also a nice cafe was across the street. Saint John the Divine also was not far. There is also the City Site Greyline Bus tour that is a hop on hop off, which takes you to many different sites of the city, that picks up across the street. I recommend it, but it may be more convenient to purchase tickets at an actual vendor or online and not from the hotel. The hotel sells multiple tickets for attractions but also note they raise prices to make commission. Over I would say it was a great stay and I would most definitely stay again.
Great position, next to the 96th metro stop where the red 1, 2 and 3 stop. Clean and with a comfy bed. Bathroom was nice. The hotel was a bit old, but functional and well maintained.
The internet access was spotty in the rooms, though the staff immediately said so. It was working well in the lobby.
Good location in UWS
Room smelled. A/C was out of order. Elevators were down. Furniture and TV were worn and old.
i enjoyed the location as it was easy to get to a subway station as well as some major shopping areas. perfect site seeing hotel as you don't want to stay in the room all the time!
the room was very small. the elevators did not work and the ones that did work you were stuck waiting for for about 20 minutes or so because only two people could fit into the elevator at one time. the maids came in to supposedly clean our room but the mirror in the bathroom was not wiped down and the floor was not vacuumed daily plus they would leave the television on until we returned. the staff was not friendly nor willing to help you in anyway. there was no microwave in the whole hotel to heat up outside food nor mini refrigerator to put anything in to keep cold. the only ice maker was on the 11th floor of the whole hotel and sucked . over heated the heat was on like 90 degrees the whole week we stayed. the channels were all Spanish channels and even know they say basic cable we only got maybe one or two channels that were not in Spanish no breakfast was offered. nor lunch buffet. will not stay again!
Elevator, felt like it was ready to break.
