perfect location for my meeting. Huge room, comfortable bed, great value.
Electrical outlets were worn and loose. Old steam radiators had no user control.
Best value for the money
The location was fantastic. Within walking distance of Central Park, Time Square, the MOMA, and many other attractions. All the basics were great which isn’t the case in some other comparable prices hotels in NY. Plumbing worked, beds comfortable, elevator worked, shower and towels good. rooms spacious. We were in a suite with a refrigerator and microwave which was nice and there was a grocery store across the street. Flat screen TV in both rooms.
Hotel was worn. The rooms were hot but it was freezing outside. Shampoo was in little plastic pouches but it was good shampoo and not a deal breaker. The couch inthe living room did need to be replaced. Furniture was old.
No hay WiFi
The location is excellent - two blocks from Central Park, subway station around the corner, within walking distance of most popular places. We had two rooms on the 9th floor and they were both large with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Beds are comfy and rooms are clean. Price was good for a comfortable place to sleep.
As stated in other reviews, the rooms are tired-looking and the carpeting worn. They need a someone who is actually good at tile work to overhaul the bathrooms. Light fixtures need bulbs replaced. Steam heat made rooms too hot. We had the A/C on the entire time we were there, which kept the rooms comfortable. On the morning we were to check out we came back from breakfast, around 11 a.m., and were unable to get into one of the two rooms we had reserved. Thankfully, a day matron stepped out of a room just as I was getting ready to head down to the front desk to complain.
Perfect Midtown Manhattan Location!
Close to Carnegie Hall, pharmacy, market, liquor store, other shopping and subway station. Uber is a great way to get around NYC and half the cost of cabs. The Salisbury's breakfast is a good deal for $10. Staff is helpful and friendly. I'd stay there again. It's not super-fancy, but the bed was comfortable and the housekeeping staff does a solid job maintaining an older property that strives mightily to stay competitive in a tough market. No complaints from me! Our room had a coffee pot, small frig and microwave plus a small sink adjacent.
Little details could use improvement, such as shampoo and lotion in small bottles vs plastic packs that need to be cut open. Broken wall plate on the bathroom light switch. The electrical system (wall sockets, light switches) could use updating. Plumbing seemed fine. It's an older hotel with aging infrastructure. If you want ultra-modern, go elsewhere but you'll pay 2-4 times as much.
Good Location-rest okay
The location is great for Central Park and Time Square
The staff was not helpful. Need a computer to print boarding passes-we had to pay $3.95 to access a computer in the lobby for 15 minutes to print boarding passes. The rooms are very big for NYC standards, but the entire hotel is run down. Need new carpets everywhere.
the front desk and bell staff were helpful
rooms need a serious upgrade, very old and outdated furnishings. I tried to contact the reservations manager seven times to adjust our reservation and apparently she doesn't actually exist because she would never answer or return my calls.
Great location and helpful staff
-It was close to a Angelo’s restaurant and we were tired when we attived and this was great. (Desk staff helped us ) There is a convience store, 24 hour market and starbucks next door and across the street. - the subway was at the end of the street so easy to get to LaGuardia airport by subway and bus for $2.75. ( Concierge helped us) City buses and City Sight Hop-on Hop on bus pick up coupons right on 55th St. (room service staff member helped us) Central Park a bolck away for those who like to run or walk in the morning. ( Good breakfast offered for $10.00 each)
No small refirgerator or coffee pot in room which we consider standard in all hotels in Canada
Room was good. Had everything that was need.
Free wifi would have been nice. Carpet was a little old/dirty.
Just the location
It is dirty, pretty old. Need to renovate the whole place. Staff are not friendly, and they do not even care if you want anything or not. Rooms are really dirty. Please do not go here.
Clean and few blocks from Time Square friendly sta
Very friendly staff and close to Time Square (if you didn't mind walking a few block). Also used the parking garage they recommended just one block over.
Hotel was a little old fashion but it did give you that New York living feel.
How do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Location. Right across the street from Carnegie Hall. Close to Central Park and easy access to subway. Large room for NYC hotel
$375 a night for Monday/Tuesday nights. No coffee in the room. Otherwise I don't have any complaints
Situated across from Carnegie Hall and a brisk walk from Central Park, Salisbury Hotel combines an unbeatable locale in Midtown Manhattan with three-star amenities and unbeatable hospitality. Built in the 1930s and maintained by neighboring Calvary Baptist, the facade and decor remain faintly reminiscent of the Gothic beginnings. Not only perfectly situated, but the hotel is also renowned for cleanliness and the hospitality of the staff. Discounted parking appeals to many travelers as parking in New York City is exuberant. Room service from several area restaurants provides refreshments to patrons without having them leave the property. The rooms are impressively large for Midtown as it was originally designed for apartment living. The concierge is also well respected and known for being able to assist in getting rare Broadway tickets. Many rooms come with a kitchenette at no extra charge. Guest rooms start at $85 a night, making these rooms a steal for New York City. If one room is not enough, one and two bedroom suites are available in order to accommodate families of any size. Central Park and Times Square are an easy walking distance from the hotel. The attractions of Lower Manhattan, Harlem, and Brooklynn are a short taxi or Uber ride away. The amenities, location, and unbeatable pricing make Salisbury a perfect no-frills hotel for families wishing to stay in the historic Midtown.
