The food and service are outstanding as always. I have been going there with my best friend for years
Carmine's can't be beat! Love their food...great atmosphere!
They took us to our table right away for our reservation. The place is lively and fun. Certainly not quiet. The food was outstanding. Everything tasted fresh and the pasta was al dente, just how I like it. We had the rigatoni with broccoli and sausage in a white sauce, which was all of our favorites. Perfection! We also ordered the chicken saltimbocca which was also very good. Loved the sauteed spinach underneath. The chicken is cut very thin, which I prefer, but to serve 3-4 there could have been another piece or two on the plate. We also ordered the penne vodka which was good, however, more tomatoey then I prefer. Had tomatoes, onions and garlic in it also which made it chunky. I prefer mine more on the creamy side. But again, everything was very very good and would definitely recommend this restaurant!
The location was great since we we're in town for a show. The food was good but far from spectacular. The cocktails were OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, and average at best, even for NYC!
This was our 3rd time here and enjoyed our dining experience. Stuffed mushrooms great. Calamari just ok. Meatballs great. Service a little slow but waiter was friendly.
Awesome awesome awesome. Even though it was loud it was fun! There was a buzz there that you just don't get unless it's authentic.
Good family style food.
The only thing negative about this experience was the girl at the door who was rude, obnoxious and just down right nasty. But the manager handled the situation extremely well and the food was excellent!
We love Carmine but 44th street one is Extreme busy. If you can get a reservation, the wait is over two hours long. The restroom is at 2bd floor passed the bar. That was a difficult journey to go to. You would have to push people over and climb up the stairs case & try not to knock over other wait staff/customers. We only go to this one when we have Broadway show to go to.
Unfortunately I was extremely mistreated Theresa, I never want to come Back. First a rude host put me in a huge line even though I had a reservation, after I gave my name I moved with my baby and his stroller to a place where I believed I was not going to be an obstacle and the same employee and another one (short thin guy with an anterior broken tooth) started yelling at me and my husband to move to the other side. Apparently unkindness is pretty common in the US because I saw many situations of people yelling at strangers in stores, streets and in this restaurant. The next thing I saw was the manager telling me to leave the restaurant. In my opinion they just didn't want to have a guest with a stroller. I have been there other times but this was the last for sure. Well, I had a wonderful meal at hard rock cafe after that. Carmine 's think it's so special...just another one.
Excellent food and large portions\nWe come here every time that we come to New York
I attended Carmines with family on 3/2/17 as we were celebrating my son's birthday and he absolutely LOVES Italian food and he loves Carmines! \n\nWe reserved a table online for 9:00pm but arrived a little before 8:15pm, gave our reserved seating name and were seated quickly (before 8:30pm). \n\nOur server was awesome as he was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Our food was ready quickly and it was delicious!\n\nWe have been before and look forward to the next time!
Need more than two for dinner- did not see an option for only two! Way too much food for two- but a great place for groups!
The last time I was at Carmines was 20 years ago. It was as great as I remember. Incredible food. Go hungry!! Great location if you are taking in a Broadway play.
Took the family for dinner before a show. This was our first time to Carmines. Dinner was delicious! Highly recommend the rigatoni and broccoli! Our waiter was very attentive! A definite return trip in our future!
Delicious food and portions are huge! We will definitely be back!
Great service, huge portions, great atmosphere. Book in advance! This is a popular place, and short walk to the theatre. Highly recommended.
The food was DELICIOUS and the family style food was perfect for our crowd.
Took family for lunch before matinee. We loved it. ð
Great lunch with large portions. Delicious penne alla vodka.
Excellent food, excellent service. We were with my 14 daughter. Is a very familiar place, well located.
Order was forgotten twice. Took more than an hour.
Dinner was fabulous with so much food that the left overs were large.
The Pasta meals that we ordered were delicious. The kitchen made a mistake in the chicken Parm and instead of linguini they gave us spaghetti. Last time I was there I ordered angel hair for the seafood pasta and I got Linguini. The stuffed artichoke was inedible. We returned and we got it taken of the check. I would only go back for the seafood pasta and the tartuffi. Service was horrible. We got desert and no spoons, no sharing plates. We ordered onion focaccia and we gat tomato focaccia.
Carmine's was great family style Italian. It was a lot for just two, but our waiter and his bus staff were great! (Chris)
As always the food was top notch. Service impeccable. We love going there
I've always had the best experience at Carmine's...
Great New York atmosphere and food.
I regret to say we were disappointed with our visit to Carmine's this time. In the past we've had great meals, usually caesar salad, chicken parm, and angel pasta with oil and garlic. We thought we'd try something new and ordered cold antipasto, veal parm, and shrimp scampi. We were sad to hear the cold antipasto was not the typical meats and cheeses but rather a garden salad with chopped meats. We tried it and it was okay. The shrimp scampi was terrible. It was more like baked stuffed shrimp covered in burnt bread crumbs. We were expecting shrimp in a garlic oil butter sauce. Why breadcrumbs? Terrible! And finally, the veal parm was very chewy and lukewarm. We expected veal parm to have a crunchy coating and buckled veal but this entree tasted more like veal patty. We sent it back and got a new order but it really wasn't much better. The service was not very good. We asked for water and the server returned with a pitcher of water but no glasses. She said she would get them but then she never came back. I walked across the entire dining room to the bar and asked the bar staff if I could take 3 of their glasses. A nice busser said he would bring the glasses to the table which he did. The server never even noticed she forgot the glasses. When we got the check we noticed we were charged for 2 orders of the veal parm. We pointed it out to the server and she gasped claiming that the manager forget to remove the second order, she made the adjustment. We paid the bill and left. We live out of state so we don't frequent Carmine's very often but if we do return we will rethink ordering anything else on the menu other than caesar salad, chicken parm, and angel pasta with oil and garlic. That's if we return at all.
Excellent food and service. Great time! We were on vacation from Toronto, Ontario, Canada spending a few days in New York before boarding our cruise ship.
We had a great meal and our server Evan was great! We definitely will be going back again.
Poor table location in the back of restaurant in front of the door for trash and the very last section :(\nWe were a group of 6 & it was so noisy we couldn't converse with all except the person on either side.\nI should've requested a round table had I realized this!\nServers were good.
Good Place - should offer half portions for couples - overall good experience
Service was excellent, Uri, the waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu. Food was very good and was served quickly
the food came out cold made worse by the seat next to the front door which was drafty. this was not acceptable. the wait staff took the plate back without a problem and served a new order where the food was hot. The delay was aggravating however, they worked diligently to fix the problem. we love this restaurant and have not experienced this problem before.
Came here for a date night. You only need to order one plate for two people and even then we ended up taking almost half home. Great place for a semi-fancy date at a great price, as long as you like Italian. Will definitely bring big family groups here in the future. Just make sure to reserve a table a week ahead of time, especially if you're coming with more than 4 people.
Carmine's at 44th is consistently fabulous.... stupendous and fantastic !!!!
We always visit Carmine's when we are in NYC, one of our favorites. The food is great and the portion sizes are incredible, served family style and delicious. We tell everyone about Carmines.
Carmines will never disappoint! Food is abundant one dish of pasta easily can feed five people so it is a very cost effective restraunt as a native New Yorker who knows great food you will always gave a great meal and drinks at Carmines it is a must if you will be in Times Square area
Great food and service! We loved the atmosphere and the ambiance.
Excellent meal, had a great time - got to see some famous people. Reminds me of my years as a child when I was growing up - the meals were always robust and out of this world. Carmine's is a gem and makes me feel like I am at home. The waiter's and waitresses were very friendly. Will definitely be returning!
We went to Carmine's at 1:30 on a Saturday before a show. We were seated quickly and advised of the huge portion size. We ordered baked clams, ravioli alla vodka and shrimp scampi. Everything was absolutely delicious. There was enough food leftover for my boyfriend and I to have for lunch the next day. We intend to visit again in March.
We've been to Carmine's so many times, but this time we are so disappointed with the service, the guy who helped us disrespected us and followed us to the restaurant door saying that the tip given was not enough, my whole family felt so bad for this, we loved the food but the service was terrible and disrespectful.
Great food, huge portions, good value for what you are getting. Fast service. Would love to go back! Make reservations!!
Simply an awesome restaurant and by making reservations with Open table, we did not have to wait at all, we were shown oureflects table right away. A most pleasurable experience. Can't wait to go back.
Tried several times to get in over the holidays and well without a reservation forget it. Thus trip just a quick get away after working in CT. Worth the drive and wait. Little more expensive than it should be for pasta but the portions would feed 5-6 people. Service was excellent!!!
Brilliant evening !! \nWonderful food (very large portions) and nothing is too much trouble for staff to do to ensure your evening is memorable we will be definitely visiting again and would recommend Carmine's in 44th street NYC to family and friends ð
Are you kidding me? This place is a real treat. The food is exceptional. The environment is an old school throwback and the wait staff most accommodating. It is pricy. But worth every penny. Love this place.
Great service !
Love this restaurant for years. This visit service was not up to par. Normally very attentive.
We went with another family and was very reasonable. The family style meals were good for about four average size adults. Everyone enjoyed the meals including the picky young kids who to my surprise had seconds (or maybe they were staving because we made them walk from the museum of natural history), either way they loved the food. Highly recommend this place. It was also convenient making reservations online two hours ahead of time.
Except for wishing they would offer half portions, Carmine's is reason enough for visiting NYC.
We had a great time. Dinner was delicious.\nI was a party of four, my wife and two kids. One order of pasta was enough for all of us.
Good pasta, but the portions too big! \nIs this the restaurant with most foodwaste?\nWhy not have an option with smaller dishes?
Not what I used to be but still good.
Lots of food, loved the family style atmosphere. Will be back again!
Good. Good. Good!
Excellent food !!!!! Will come back again when in New York !!!!
We have heard about Carmine's for a very long time but this was our first time going there. The service was excellent - the ambience was terrific and we were seated immediately ( we did have a reservation ) â our waiter was very helpful since it was our first time learning the menu. I would recommend it to anyone with a good appetite!
Upon a recommendation from friends who recently visited NYC and found Carmines for dinner, they highly recommended this restaurant. We were greeted with a cheeky staff member at the front door who instantly made us feel welcome. The staff are eager to serve and ensure all aspects of your dining experience is top notch. Food! OMG, the amount of food for family dining is awesome. Four people with pretty good appetites were well fed from a fantastic menu and topped off with a most scrumptious dessert. Great value, delicious food and excellent staff. Would return in a heartbeat and recommend Carmines to anyone who will listen.
Our second time at Carmine's and just as good as I remember. Delicious calamari, not oily. Chicken parmigiana was delicious and perfectly cooked, was moist and not dry. Seafood linguine with red sauce was super fabulous w lobster and mussels and calamari and tomatoes. So good. Meatballs were large and yummy. Broccoli was great! Sautéed w garlic. Great service, very attentive. Excellent overall and highly recommend!
We arrived a half hour early for reservation at 5:30, place was packed as usual, wait time without a reservation was an hour and a half. Somehow we were seated 15 minutes early... awsome experience for us celebrating our 20 year anniversary. Great ceasar salad, enough for 4, everything is family style, you won't leave hungry...
Absolutely wonderful, the food is always great and we love eating theee5
All was delicious for a meal before the theater. Only problem was in the ladies room---there were a number of stalls that had no coat hooks! And a few that faulty locking mechanisms-- both very necessary in a ladies room. Not acceptable!
Booked in advanced and we were brought to our table straight away. Food was amazing lasagne to die for and meatballs yummy.\nThe waiter was attentive and explained how to order.
Food is excellent! I do wish they would offer smaller plates. The Family style is great but there were only 3 of us and one was a child. If we weren't going to the theater and I could have taken the leftovers home I wouldn't have minded spending the money. It was a lot of food and money spent to have to leave it there. I will go again with more people. Like I said the food was excellent! The service was great as well!
Amazing and authentic Italian food served in gigantic sized portions. Most tables order a few entrees and eat family style! There Titanic dessert is amazing and huge! Tip: Make a reservation to ensure a table. Wait time without one is 20-30 minutes. It's well worth the wait!
I went in with my wife after a show and she has a gluten allergy. I understand their family style model but they refused to work with us. They could have easily made a half portion to accommodate both of us. The waiter and manager were very rude about it. We will never be back. Worst customer service I've ever seen at a restaurant. They should be ashamed for not working with someone that has a serious food allergy.
Great choice for family and friends visiting NYC and large parties.
We reserved a table before going to the theatre. we told them we had theatre tickets and they made sure we were able to eat and leave just in time to walk to our show. The service was amazing and they were very honest and knowledgeable. We shared an order of the spaghetti and meatballs and the Carmines salad. Both were delicious, enjoyed by everyone, and there was more than enough for 4 with leftovers to spare. Highly recommended for a family or friend get together!
This is quite the restaurant, lots of people and very noisy! That was fine but at times it was hard to hear each other!\nThe portions are way too big for two people! I think you should have a half serving for two people. I would not want to see the waste of food that you end up with at the end of the night!\n\nService was excellent and the food was very good.
Great food...great service! \nthis is a wonderful place for a family gathering/dinner!!!
Food was great, will come back again. Servant was very helpful
Loved it! Happy to come again, also with a group of friends or the family.
Our favorite place every time we come to NYC, our whole family loves it!
The food was good, though nothing more special than other restaurants. The portions are huge, so best to go with a big group.
Carmine's has become a MUST dining experience each time we come to NYC, which is several times per year. The food is outstanding, the service impeccable, the atmosphere is great...a true New York City institution. Our waiter the last two times we visited was Carlos, and he was great. He was a lot of fun and was very attentive, even though he had a lot of other tables to wait on. Oh yes, did I mention how OUTSTANDING the food is? It bears repeating. Best meals I have ever eaten, bar none. Don't leave without trying the meatballs....you won't be sorry!
Family celebration for our granddaughter's 13th birthday. Had reservations. Wonderful location with very attentive service. Family style dining was the best. All selections were prepared perfectly, from Carmine's Salad, to pasta selections to the chicken with lemon over bed of spinach (to die for) and chicken parmiagiana (an old favorite).
Felt rushed. Food didn't come out timely. We got salad then appetizer with not enough time to eat them before our dinner coming out. Then when we were ready for the dinner the food was cold.
It was an amazing meal . It was me and my wife for our anniversary. The portions are huge so I guess it's good to go with a few more couples but we enjoyed it and took home what we didn't finish . The baked clams are the best I ever had !!!!
Service and food great, disappointed with scotch sours, they were not frothy and second was not full
We ordered the Antipasto Sampler and Prime Rib. The prime rib was excellent. Our problem was with the sampler. My friends wife found a piece of metal in the dipping sauce and actually had it in her mouth. We brought it to the waiters attention and he seemed concerned and said the manager would talk to us. After a half hour and no manager, we requested he come to our table. He seemed annoyed we complained about the piece of METAL and said he would take the sampler off of our bill. We never even got to eat the sampler so we obviously weren't too impressed with his solution to our problem. He stated this is something that happens 'often' and that is how they normally handle it. I would think a restaurant of this caliber would have higher standards for the food they put out. We realize things happen and normally aren't ones to complain, but the managers attitude towards our situation was really off putting. He seemed better suited to run fast food restaurant.
The food was amazing. Prime rib was cooked to perfection. The service was a little off. Our server took about 20 minutes to get us a high chair upon seating. If you have ever had a two year old, you know how difficult that can be. In general, the service was slow and our server was not friendly at all and quite frankly he looked VERY OFF. He forgot to bring my husband a second beer he asked for and was unapologetic about it. He also brought me a red sangria when I asked for a white. At one point my son said 'Hi!' to him and he didn't even acknowledge him. Overall I would only recommend this restaurant for the incredible food. I noticed that the other servers were very enthusiastic and friendly so it may have been that we were stuck with a bad one but as a loyal customer of the franchise, I was extremely disappointed with how we were treated this time around.
This was our first time visiting Carmines! We enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs dinner and loved the atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again!
This was the first time I have ever been to Carmine's. It was a nice experience. It was a little hard to hear the waiter because he spoke fast and it was so busy. The entrees could have had a little description below so I wouldn't have to ask so many questions. I saw another couple with a chicken dish and I asked them what it was and they said it was the second thing on the menu under the chicken heading. That's what we got and it was really good. Overall, it was a really nice experience. Thank you!
As always, our large party enjoyed a lot of fantastic food. Best bets on the table: fried calamari, rigatoni with broccoli and sausage, and shrimp scampi. House chianti was light and reasonably priced. Service was prompt and attentive. However, we had to wait for 30min for our table, and it was already a 10:30 reservation. Still, Carmine's is worth the wait!
Great dinner after seeing a show while on vacation with our family in NYC. Portions are huge and great for sharing. We left stuffed...and with leftovers.
Had a great time. Outstanding food. Be sure you are really hungry. Huge portions.
The food was very good. We had the fried calameri, pasta with broccoli and sausage, tbone steak and the smaller version of the titanic. Its called the tugboat. Only complaint is that the pasta with the broccoli and sausage was a little disappointing because there really wasnt alot of sausage in that dish. The waiter was very good. I recommend this place highly. Only other thing is that if you sit near the bar its very loud. Im glad we were seated in the back.
Great spot, great food, great atmosphere. Perfect for larger groups. Will definitely return when we're back in NYC
Food was great and never disappoints! Will be back again in the future.
Carmine's was a delight, I will definitely be visiting again. Make a reservation prior to avoid a long wait time.
We live in upstate NY and everytime we visit the city which is anywhere from 2-4 times per year we make sure we go to Carmines. The food is fabulous. We even have their cook books. We went twice this last visit this past weekend, dinner and lunch. My only complaint is that I wish for lunch you could get half orders of items b/c it was just my husband and me and I hate to waste food. The hot antipasto app is amazing and do not forget to try the Titanic or tug boat which is smaller version of Titanic for dessert. Please go! You will not be disappointed
Great way to end the day in the city!
Not tourists- used to live in the city. Waiter decided it was ok to bring us $7.50 bottle of water w/o asking. Not right. Big turn off. Food good. Not outstanding for the price. I would not eat here again. Once every 15 years is fine w me
It wouldn't be a trip to the city without a stop at carmines! The portions are huge and are meant to be shared.... family style! The bread basket is great and the carmines salad is delicious! The restaurant is hopping and noisy and fun! Call WAY in advance for a reservation!
Enjoyed our dinner, great service. Will definitely back soon
Went for my friend's birthday and enjoyed the food there, however not so much in love with the environment. (By the way, there is A LOT in one dish so great value!)
Love it but I was with someone who needed give stay in touch with work during our visit and the wifi, texting and phone service were awful. Made it difficult for him to do both and he asked that we eat somewhere else next time despite loving the food.
Our server was awesome...she had super recommendations on food and drinks
Food was delicious. Had the Chicken Parmigiana, chicken was tender and well seasoned.
Great food as always but very noisy and tables are on too close to each other. I don't need to hear the conversations from people sitting on both sides of me, nor do I want them to hear mine. Menu is overpriced but remember you are in Times Square. If your not there to see a Broadway play, then eat at the Carmines on 91St.
In town for a show
Our waiter was Paul. He was the best waiter I have ever had at Carmines and I've been going there for years. He made our dinner memorable he was funny he was awesome.
Nice atmosphere and a very good value for sharing dishes with friends. Waiter was very helpful with suggestions.
Had lunch before returning to the UK, staff were really knowledgeable on the menu, introduced the restaurant to us ... Portions are family sized! Great atmosphere and they were happy to bag the leftovers, which we gave to a homeless man ... This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend in the UK, and well worth the visit ð
The food was delicious! Felt like I was eating an Italian restaurant straight out of a mob movie! Loved it!
LOVED IT! We have been to Carmines to celebrate the holidays, birthdays or just to get a great Italian family style meal. Always a wonderful experience !
Great night in town from texas for mom/grandma 70th birthday. Great time
A fun place to go-had never been there before. Nice server but we felt a little rushed. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and it was very good. Also had portobello salad which was yummy. Another person could have joined us and still would have leftovers due to huge serving sizes. Actually would have preferred a lower price and smaller platter. For basic food, it was pricey, but it was delicious.
Worst restaurant I ever been. Food is not good. Service is not good at all and crowd is also very mixed low level
Best Italian food ever! Everything about this restaurant is great. It was well worth it. Definitely will be back. Highly recommended
Great big portions, me and my partner went for Valentine's Day and was a perfect restaurant choice.
Great food and service, and good for people watching. Portion sizes are ridiculous, the family sized mains serve four - hence practically everyone leaves with a doggy bag. So great value if there are four of you, or two big, big eaters.
I was ready for phenomenal food...but it was just ok....the prices are ala carte....not my cup of tea...family style is not the way to go for 2 people
Great food! Just make sure you make a reservation, or the wait is very long. Parking is across the street, but they do not validate.
Simply the best. I usually prefere to taste local cooking but I'm allergic to black pepper and I needed to be sure I won't have any problems at all. I read about Carmine in lonely planet's guide (for me 1st time in Nyc). I stayed in Nyc 7 days and Carmine was my favourite. The best.
Food and service was excellent! Will definitely go back when in New York!
Came here on February 13 around 1045pm to bring in my bday due to it being on Valentine's day I decided to dine a day early and I don't regret making that decision. The staff treated our party of 4 with the most respect and made us feel extremely comfortable! The food was amazing & every one doesn't need to get separate orders because it's a large portion of food. One order of shrimp scampi with spaghetti noodles served all 4 of us & we had plenty of food left over. I will definitely be returning & would recommend anyone to come here.
We had a great time, the food was wonderful but a little pricey and took a while to get to us. Our waiter was great
Food was great and lunch menu very reasonable. Was on a date and they put me at a table that fit 6 so a little awkward plus it was in a busy aisle
Everything was outstanding
We came here because it was highly recommended by friends and co-workers and Carmine's did not disappoint! Great food, and all recommendations by our amazing waiter were 'on point'. Definitely a must at NYC.
Fabulous Birthday Dinner with Family!! Great service. Food was impeccable!! Will come again
Wonderful! Arrived for our reservation quite early and they got us in right away. The food, as always was served hot and delicious! We always order too much!! Listen to the server -- they know!! Definitely would recommend if you are in the mood for Italian. It is really good.
Our first time. We will be there again and again. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect.
Took my parents here for lunch. They were very happy with the food. Some of the specials and seasonal menus can be outrageously priced so it would be good for the restaurant to inform the guests before they place the order.
Always great service! Made reservations for 11:30am but had to change to later time. It was no problem. They seated us shortly after late arrival. Go with a huge appetite or at least four people to eat all the food!! Fast service, huge family style portions, and delicious ð´ðð¼
Always a wonderful meal , enjoy the location and staff
THIS WAS MY FOURTH VISIT. I MADE A SPECIAL TRIP FROM KISSIMMEE FLORIDA JUST TO EAT THERE AND AN EXTRA COUPLE OF PLACES. THE FOOD COULD HAVE BEEN HOTTER AND THE CLAMS A LITTLE MORE COOKED. OVERALL WAS FINE!!! THE WAITER COULD HAVE BEEN MORE ATTENTIVE TO OUR NEEDS.
Group of 7 of us went together. My boyfriend and I got one meal which was the perfect amount for us. We actually both split on piece which was plenty for us being stuffed at the end. However we did take home a second piece! So one plate definitely is enough for 4 people!
My favorite restaurant. We met family members from Argentina. Perfect meal as everyone got to taste/share many different dishes. Every dish was delicious from appetizer, salad, pasta and chicken!
Went prior to show, excellent food, service and atmosphere
Great bar area while waiting for our table. Food was delicious and family style let's a conversation start around the table. Nice to share several dishes and the atmosphere was comfortable and casual.
Always our favorite place in NYC, we eat there at least once, sometime twice every trip.
Meatballs and shrimp were great. Large portions - ordered too much. Pasta with bolognese was good too
A must for every New York trip! Our absolute favorite meal when we come! Must try the chicken Parmesan!
You guys charged me $2.50 to cut my cake when I could of cut it myself smh
We had Hamilton tickets and dined at Carmine's after. It was an easy walk to the restaurant from the theater, and the food was delicious---a great ending to a wonderful evening â¤ï¸
Service was great food outstanding staff friendly and helpful work
Great restaurant, from the ambiance to the food. Staff was very warm and accomodating. We definitely come back again! Thumbs upðð¼
Positives: we were seated right away\n the food was very good\n service was excellent\n\nNegatives: it was freezing in the restaurant
Service was very poor. Our waitress was very rude, even by New York standards.
Incredibly poor service. Saw our waiter maybe three times during the meal. Beverages went unrefreshed and took nearly 15 minutes to greet us initially.
This restaurant exemplifies the term ' big food', but it is also delicious. Our waitress was charming and our table was in a corner which allowed us to hear each other
I was into the restaurant, had made a reservation and I was ok, but when I asked about the desert my nightmare comes, near 2 hours waiting into christimas lunch with my wife for that, very disapointed.
Started with the baked clams which were good. The salad came right out as well as the veal entree. Food was decent, but everything was just thrown at us.
Last minute trip to NYC with Italian for dinner. This pace was the highlight of our evening!
Went with a group of 8 for pre-theater lunch. food was delicious, the meatballs were wonderful and the stuffed artichoke was amazing just like my mom's! Service excellent.
We were in from out of town going to the theatre. My wife found them because they were convenient and had good reviews, but I'd travel across town to go again.
Lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Huge family sized portions. A special place!
Carmines is always great, either mid town or up town.
Extremely big dishes..it should be different sizes for 1 of 2 people..if you go with your couple ..you don't have options..very expensive. Sorry but I didn't enjoy my experience.
Service was excellent and atmosphere and decor was really nice. Veal marsalla with mushrooms had a LOT of sauce / gravy, but it was on the thick side and was really kind of bland. No pasta or rice or anything to use the sauce with. Not so typical of what im used to for this dish. Usually a thinner less abundant amount of sauce, with a stronger marsalla flavor is what im used to. Linguini and meatballs was great, but could have used another 1/3 lb of pasta for the price & quantity of meatballs. Fried calamari was great too! After it came, it was served with a cup of lightly spiced tomato sauce. As 2 people at the table dont eat spicy, the server promptly brought a cup of marinara sauce! Some establishments ask at ordering time if you want your calimari with spicey, mild, or sweet sauce. We were not asked at ordering time. Tugboat (mini titanic) was great for a party of 2 adults 2 teen kids. Overall a great time, no rush or pressure on the service, food very good, value just ok for the location. Would revisit for a special occasion.
I love this place!!! The food is always fantastic!!!
Me and My wife always go to Tony's in the area but tonight we said let's try Carmine's and we were glad we did. We had the Calamari to start it was delicious. Then we had Rigatoni, Sausage and Broccoli in garlic and oil and Chicken Scaloppini ahhhhhh is all I can say the sauces for both were so silly smooth and the pasta was cooked just right and the Chicken melted in your mouth with the sauce. Everything was great me and my wife had a great dinner. THANK YOU CARMINE's and STAFF for having us.
Excellent service, perfectly cooked steak, amazing lasagne, and well-priced wine. Perfect for bringing work teams to dinner. Love this place.
I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and she loved it
From ambiance to food, Carmine deserve 100 stars. One thing that was out of the norm was the rude and obnoxious male bartender. We had to wait 15 mins for hour reserved table and was told to wait by the bar. When I asked the bartender do he have a Moscow Mule, he giggled and said 'No! Now you will be at the end of the line to place your order.' I literally thought he was joking but he just skipped the rest of the members in my party and began to take other patron's order.
Our family of 5 enjoyed a wonderfully satisfying meal seated at a perfect corner table and Matthew our server was perfectly attentive, helpful and fun without going overboard. This was our second visit to Carmines, first time to this location, both were wonderful.\nSee you next time...
Just took my daughter here for the first time and we both enjoyed it so much! From the atmosphere to the coffee everything was great
Never received our doggie bag - I think assistant to waiter had minimal English skills.
It was my daughter's 16th birthday and Carmine's rolled out the red carpet!! Totally exceeded my expectations! Such a great job wonderful experience.
We have been going to Carmine's for over 16 years and they never disappoint. The food is always delicious and the servers are friendly. The lemon chicken is my favorite. This visit was to celebrate birthdays and one couple had never been. The Titanic delivered to the table while the staff of Carmines sang Happy Birthday did not disappoint. Can't wait for my next trip into NYC and more Carmines.
Was a first time visit. Only two of us, so didn't get to experience several dishes. Definitely want to come back with a bigger crowd to gain the full experience your restaurant as to offer. The entrees were very reasonably priced, however, the appetizers were more than I wanted to pay. Baked clams were the best I've had in ages, but very pricey!
Had a great meal and service was wonderful. We made a reservation over a month ago. Planned a day in the city to see a Broadway play and wanted to have a nice meal afterwards. We reserved a 5pm dining time, as they gave us plenty of time to walk to Carmines from the play. Once we arrived at the restaurant, it was crowded. There was a line outside and a lot of people waiting inside for tables. We overhead staff telling people it was 1.5 hour wait time. We were a little concerned seeing the amount of people, but when it was out turn to check in, our table was ready and we were immediately seated. No wait at all. The food was great. Family style is a nice option. We were a party of 6 and sampled a bunch of different appetizers and main dishes. Do not miss the stuffed mushrooms - out of this world! We will definately be back!!
Overall the experience was positive. The calamari was amazing. However, we ordered the veal parm with spaghetti as our main course and it was just okay. The veal was a little crunchy on the outside and our pasta was a bit dry because we needed more sauce. I went with my dad and the portion sizes were way larger than what two people could handle. We were both able to take leftovers home. Overall, the experience was good but wish they would've given us enough sauce to coat our pasta.
Went to NYC just to eat at Carmine's! Went twice during our weekend visit! Our fav place.
I like Carmine's. It is not a gourmet food restaurant, and it does not pretend to be. It has good food, ridiculous sizes, and best value for your buck. The service is great, efficient, and welcoming. \nThe decor and atmosphere reminds me of old NY, as seen in the movies. I think it's a must go place if you visit NY or are extremely hungry :)
Great food served family style, which encouraged great conversation among friends. Delicious!
Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable. She paid attention to our needs without being overbearing. My daughter enjoyed her Sweet 16 celebration.
My husband & I ordered the rigatoni with broccoli & sausage. There was hardly any sausage, only tiny bits. Our table was wobbly. Also, my white wine had no taste. Won't be returning.
Great food for a group...all family style. If you're going to see a show and don't want to carry in 'doggie bags,' make sure you go with a group .... huge portions! Delicious! Wine is a bit expensive...but that's the city.
Wonderful dinner out in NYC on our girl's weekend. Great service, food was delicious and plenty of it. Server recommended the evening special (Friday night) and it was amazing. Would and will recommend this to anyone heading to the city.
Food is great but HUGE. I don't think you can go here with less than 6 people b/c everything is family style. Prepare to take home leftovers! Service was fantastic. The fried zucchini was to die for as was the special - chicken romano.
I've heard nothing, but good things about eating here and I'm glad I got to experience it myself. The waiters were great and the food was very enjoyable. I definitely would recommend it to anyone. Was a bit noisy, but well worth it for the food and service provided. Overall great food and a wonderful experience.
Great food, huge portions
It was Mother's Day!!! Took mommy to the theatre then here for dinner. She loved it!!!
As always, the meal and wait-staff was outstanding. Carmine's is always a great meal but eating dinner at the 44th st. location in the heart of Times Square really makes a great day even better.
Was recommended by friends and boy did it live up to expectations. Beautiful restaurant in the heart of midtown near time square. Was the perfect night with a great vibe. Food was simply amazing and no holds bar worry about enough food. Come ready to eat and you'll be amazed by the world famous Italian dining in an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Thank you Carmines and staff for staying true to who you are . Can't wait to come back
Many thanks for making February 2nd a day for my husband Manolo his 85 birthday. Friendly service, great menu and great value for mobey. Will be back. Kudos for the waiter!
The food was delicious! I also enjoyed a nice glass of wine. We went after a Broadway show and the location was convenient and the service was prompt. The food came out very fast and hot ð
We visit Carmine's in NYC to have the linguine and clams. The food is always good and consistent.
Always a treat!
Great food, great quantity, regular service.\nWorth for the tasty food , large plates and low price.
First time in New York, loved it
Our service was tremendous. We had a fantastic food and drink experience. Carmine's is always great !!!
Probably my tenth time here. I just love it! The food and service are always exceptional.
THE FOOD WAS NOT GOOD. THE BREAD WAS FRESH OUT OF THE FREEZER WITH FROST ON IT.\nTHE CHICKEN SALTIMBUCCA WAS PAPER THIN AND YOU COULD HARDLY FIND ANY HAM ON IT.\nTHE SAUCE TASTED LIKE AN INSTANT SAUCE. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND THE DISH SIZE WAS\nA LOT SMALLER THAN EXPECTED. FEED ONLY 2 PEOPLE AND NOT THE 3 AND 4 THEY CLAIM.
It was great! Good food, tasted excellent. Cozy restaurant.
Had not been here in a long time. Wife treated us to a great show and I picked Carmines as it was close to theater. Had reservations and recommend them as the place was jammed. Arrived at 1:30 (on time) and was concerned about getting a table as there was quite a crowd waiting for seats. Very pleasantly surprised though with how quickly they found us a table. Service was good as was the food. We ordered one serving of the meatballs with spaghetti for both of us and could not finish it. We both liked how the meatballs were prepared and the pasta sauce was excellent. Hardly made a dent in it. 6 large meatballs and only finished 5. Place truly is family style with huge portions. Finished in plenty of time to walk to the theater. Highly recommend for 4 or more. Good thing I like to eat.
Fantastic family style Italian restaurant. The food is amazing, the chicken scarpariello is a must; do not leave without having a Titanic/tugboat, although the strawberry shortcake is amazing also. I have been here many, many times and have never been disappointed.
Had a great time good food great service
Fantastic Food and great service. Had reservations for a group of 6 and we all would recommend Carmines.
A good family restaurant for pre-theatre. Good food and service. Noisy.
I went out with my husband to Carmine's and as usual the food was not only excellent but abundant! Love your food Carmine's
A casual restaurant that sells great food. One order can serve 4 guests so price wise it's excellent. The seafood pasta is exceptional! Service is mediocre. Don't expect too much here - especially from the check in at the door. You are just another person or number to them. Waiters are just in a hurry to serve you. Just go for the food. Don't expect much else. This is a very noisy restaurant downstairs when its full. Do book before you go.
Great food and service.
Good. Great food
High quality food, and lots of it. Wonderful service and right by the theaters. If you're going to a play and like great Italian Carmine's is not to be missed. Yes it's expensive but it's NYC and in this case you get what you pay for. Want to go all in on dessert? Try The Titanic.
This is the second visit to this location where the salad has been very soggy . We always visit the Atlantic City location and the salad is always crisp and fresh. This location seems to pre-make the salads and when served they are soggy. Terrible. The entrée was ok, but Atlantic City has this original location beat by far. Also, we finally got bread after 15 minutes and no dipping oil was provided as is always provided in AC. We'll probably select another restaurant on our next visit to NYC.
Had a wonderful meal and time. The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars is we were placed right butt up again a party with six young childen who kept getting up and brushing up against out table. Tables are a bit too close
delicious food, family style portions was enough and more for a party of four. place is noisy but OK for us.
We go to Carmine's once a year (at least) with our children--all adults. We have the best time. The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is such fun. Service is always above and beyond. Everyone looks forward to our meal at Carmines.
Great time, great food, great friends! Always a pleasure to dine at Carmine's!
Great food , portions are massive; a pasta dish can feed 4 people, which for $30, is the cheapest dinner you will find in this town!! Friendly staff
great place, great food. A staple anytime we come to NYC for a show, shop, or just walk around. Take home left overs are always good a day later!!.
Wonderful food always consistent. It's family style with extra large portions. Awesome bread assortment they bring to the table. Menu choices are amazing. We absolutely love it it and would recommend it to anyone. They are always busy because it's so good so reservations are recommended. Otherwise you can just get there and put your name in and wait and walk around nearby shops until your table could be ready if you didn't do a reservation.
I visit NYC about four times a year. Carmine's is my all-time favorite restaurant. The food is fabulous and very authentic to my italian heritage. The waiters/waitresses are attentive.
We booked this restaurant before arriving in NY after readingvreviews online and seeing it was close to our hotel. We were very impressed with the family sized portions and tasty food. The waiting staff provided good advice and were friendly and helpful. If i returned to NYC I woukd definitely dine here again. Thankyou Carmines.
Service was great and fast. We were in and out in about 70 minutes and had great meal. Made our 8pm show without feeling we had to rush.
Absolutely fantastic food, accommodating for a party of 10 great wine selection.
Wonderful service, a little slow on drinks but not bad. Amazing food! Best steak I've ever had. Will return for sure!
Best food and birthday celebration for my granddaughter!
The chocolate torte is the absolute best! Our meals weren't that great but it's worth a trip for dessert.
It was truly a great experience for my entire family. The server /waitress was very pleasant. The food was great. Overall, everyone in my family enjoyed their meal.
Been going to this restaurant for many years, usually with a group of guys in the city for an event. The restaurant was just off yesterday. Service was good, but the food (all of it) was cold and just plain old bland. \nWe spoke with the manager while we sat at the bar and his reaction was 'well, it is January'. Nice- \nBtw...for a Friday at lunch, bar was empty and there were plenty of open tables..A definite first. I guess we are not the only ones not going back?!?
Only worth it if you go with a group of four or more as the dishes and meant to be eaten by large groups. Met a nice couple next to us and we shared our meals lol
Very busy make a reservation and don't order too much we got the lasagna 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we had left overs good value and food was selfish
Great meal before a Broadway play. We ordered an appetizer that was terrible, but the manager quickly came over to apologize and took it off our bill. The service was outstanding and food was great. Huge portions.
Food is amazing, ambiance perfect! Great pre or post Broadway meal! We get ever time we are in the city.
Excellent food, service, and a great place to hang out. Staff members were very friendly.
Always a favorite. Big portions. The only place I go after the theater.
My husband and I ate at Carmines for our wedding anniversary while visiting NYC on January 25. We were really looking forward to it. We ordered the Eggplant, which was really good and if we would have stopped there, it would have been ok, despite the extremely wobbly table. We ordered the 'special of the day' which was stuffed double veal chop for 85.00!!! There literately was NO meat. Just a skin lined with prosciutto and stuffed with cheese. Very thin, very tough, very disappointing, ESPECIALLY for the price. We will not return. My main regret is that I did not complain.
It was my first time going to Carmines but from what my girlfriend was telling me is that the food was very good and the service was amazing! So going in the restaurant had high expectations of me. Well thank goodness I made reservations that day an hour before on OpenTable or we would have never got in because they were only letting in reservations at the time and this was the day before New Year's Day! When we got there the line was rapping around the whole bar to outside! We had to wait about ten minutes for our table which is not that bad because I feel like we had the best spot in the whole place! When I sat all the delicious smells hit me! And the Italian culture really popped off the walls. The service was amazing our waiter was quick to introduce and explain the menu, the portion sizes, the specials, and whatever questions we had. The food was outstanding the chicken parmigiana basically cut like butter. Who can ask for better ? Carmines really impressed me that day would recommend going there if you want a great Italian meal definitely on of the top ten restaurants to go in the city!
The food is pretty great if you like sharing. Best Caesar salad I've had!
The taste of the food was very good. The food could have been warmer. Our server could have used a lesson in courtesy. At times she was rude and not informative. Cleaning off table she put dirty silverware on table not plate, made remarks about the bus boy that it was his job..she pays him..She was left an 18%tip..she is lucky she got that. She ran to front to complain about us. But must I accommodate staff, they had someone come over to us an apologized..
I want to compliment our waitress Chi for making our evening a fabulous success. After meeting initially with the helpful and lovely hostess, Adel and explaining the particular circumstances concerning my party of six ladies and myself celebrating one birthday, Adel selected what we thought would be a particularly quiet table all the way in the rear corner and introduced me to Chi who took time to talk with me before my party arrived, to help me select and taste a couple of wines and listen to and help me make selections for our order, taking into consideration the different dietary concerns of members of my party. She then went about serving and caring for our table with absolute professionalism, making the evening a total success. Bravo, Bravo to Chi. She has reinforced my loyalty to Carmines. I will continue to recommend Carmines to friends and business acquaintances alike.
Carmine's never fails to please and the wait staff always states that the dishes are family style, meaning one plate can easily serve up to four people. The staff, both servers and busboys are very attentive and keep their eyes peeled for anyone lacking anything. The food is authentic Italian, but please, have at least six in your party for a wider sampling of their dishes; or, conversely, try at least four appetizers and maybe two entrees for a table of six. And by all means, if you have a portion left, have them wrap it 'to go' and give it to someone in need of a meal on the streets, and you won't run short finding someone fast.
My family and I came after a matinee. It was Sunday. A bit noisey, crowded and we sat pretty quickly.(we had a reservation). Dinner came out quickly. It was very good but it was only warm.
Every time I visit NYC it's a tradition to come here. There is always a great time to be had at Carmine's
Great meal. Excellent service. Definitely will go again next time I'm in the city.
Don't Get a Table for Two, because Carmines is designed for group dining experiences. When a mixed green salad costs $24, you know something is not quite right! My wife and I went to Carmine's for an anniversary dinner and left almost as much food as we ate. We felt bad because it was so wasteful. We were flying out the next day and could keep the leftovers. Don't go unless you have a minimum of three! If you do, it's not a bad choice. You won't go away hungry.
The food at Carmine's is always outstanding as well as the service.
Always a good time, especially pre/post theater, which are close by. Parking accross the street. Be sure to make reservations. You'll be seated early.
Carmine's is an absolute favorite of my. I recently relocated away from NYC and everytime I come back to the city I try to have dinner here. This place comes highly recommended
Service was great as was the food. It is really not a place for 2 people, rather a party of 6 or more people in order to really appreciate the placeððð
As usual the food and service were wonderful!! Been coming to CARMINES for years. A family favorite and always first choice. Casual but fun; food is great and service some of the best!!!
One of my all time favorite spots.
I have always loved CARMINES. We would go to NYC just to eat there. This time they stuck us at a wobbly table smaller than my moms TV tray. We asked twice for the bread until we received it. they brought the veal out at the same time as the salad which left our veal cold, and it was veiny.... they could not fit all the dishes on our table so he took the bread without asking. he never asked if we were done with the salad or if we wanted to take the leftovers, he just took it! I heard him speak to other tables and he was much nicer to them! The food was way too much money and did not have the same quality as in the past. Are they trying to just live off their reputation?
Food was great as always. We left full and pleased.
Visiting NY. Large portions. Experience would have been better enjoyed with larger group but still very good.
I was disappointed that they served the salad and the entree so close together. We barely had time to enjoy the salad. The cheese on the chicken Parmesan was not hot and because it was cool in the dining room, the pasta etc got cold right away. We should have asked them to reheat it but didn't. For $100 for three for lunch plus tip I was extremely disappointed! Also it was a Saturday in late January and there was no need to rush the meal!!!
The food is very good but it seems the prices went up and the portions got smaller.
I love the family style menu and the food is always great. The service was very good as well.
Waiter was terrible, service was very poor. Was disappointed and won't be coming back soon.
Friendly staff, convenient location at the heart of Times Square. Great food and dining experience. Huge portions, so go there in groups, at least 3 people.
Plenty of great food to share with a family. Delicious!
Food is family style so come prepared to share with a group of your closest friends and family!
Thank you for taking such good care of us and accommodating our group of 12. That shifted to a group of 9. It was a great evening and always a great time at Carmine's.
The price is a little bit much ... I order chicken parm and thts all you get is chicken no noodles or anything to go with for 32 dollars i had a small drink tht was 15 dollars and sour and gross lol ... I had to pay nine dollars for them to sing happy birthday smh crazy .. Very over rated ... Not to diverse... I wouldn't say don't go but be prepared for your pockets to get robbed for a bunch of nothing lol and not to comfy i couldnt even move my legs thts how close together we we're... Anyway thanks for the experience !
Great pre theatre meal! Excellent service at bar and waiters phenomenal.
The Caesar salad I have ever had and I have had a lot Vegas and New York so far
The food was wonderful\nWine was served in a tiny water\nGlass kind of shocking
Our group of 5 friends stopped in for dinner before seeing a musical. We arrived 20 minutes early and were seated right away. The waiter was attentive, the food was delicious, and the dessert wonderful. We needed a gluten-free dish and the chicken scarpiello was a good choice. We had flourless chocolate cake for dessert and it was great. Such a great and memorable night.
We had dinner at Carmine's on 1/19/17. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer and the Bolognese with a side order of meatballs for the entrée. It was marvelous, the mushrooms were great the Bolognese was the best I've ever had as were the meatballs. The food is served family style and the portions are very generous. Our order was literally enough to serve four people. Carmine's is a wonderful place for excellent Italian cuisine close to Times Square and the Mid Town theater district. We will visit again.
We had a wonderful experience at Carmine's, like always. The food was excellent. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable. It was an overall wonderful evening. We were seated within 15 mins of our reservation time and we enjoyed a wonderful meal.
Loved it so much took my daughter for her sweet sixteen ! Food was amazing & loved the look of the place. I would definitely go again & recommend to any one!!!
We had a great server that day. She looked like she loved her work. She recommended the correct number of dishes. The food was tasty and woth the value. We don't miss to come here every time we come to New York. Would recommend it anytime!
Love the penne alla vodka and the cheesecake is divine!
Great experience; accommodations for my party was met and staff was friendly.
Great meal and even better service. Make sure and get the Titanic for dessert if you have a large group.
Should not charge for bottled water or at least mention that tap water is an option
Very friendly waitstaff. The food was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Carmine's
Been there several times and have never been disappointed. Great food and service. Highly recommended.
This meal was very special. The food did not dissappoint amd i was rven seated before my scheduled reservatiob.
My family drives from Long Island every New Years Day for the past 5 years to eat at Carmine's. It is always a wonderful visit. The service, atmosphere and food are superb. My sons are now 11 and 12 and they're picky eaters. They leave thoroughly satisfied. Thank you for providing a wonderful day for us every year!!
Great experience this time! \nOur waitress Jennifer was great!\nCan't wait to go back!!!
If you're early enough in the day during the week, it's easier to walk in and get a table without reservations. That being said, I would still recommend making a reservation, just in case. Evening walk-ins are a whole different story; it can be at least an hour wait. Well worth the wait, if you have the time.
Would have scored 5 stars if the server had been better. Lacked personality in the beginning. I've been before when our server was outstanding though so I guess it just depends who you get. Food is amazing!
We went there for our daughters 18th birthday. Food was good. The shrimp/pasta dish was wonderful, but everything else was just ok. The best part of the night was the bar maid-she had all the personality. I was hoping for a little more for our birthday dinner. The waiter said we could order cake or something. REALLY? We ate here a couple of years ago and the food and customer service was excellent. I guess I expected too much. Carmines is GREAT for large groups to share food and relax.
Come hungry because the food was excellent. Served family style and very large portions. Drinks were hand made and fabulous.
Great family style meal. (HUGE portions!) It was very crowded when we arrived, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. I liked that our table was plenty big for our party of 5, and, for all of the hustle and bustle going on around us, there was a lot of space between tables so it still felt relaxing. I highly recommend the steak entree. All members of our group agreed it was one of the best any of us had ever had!
Carmine's is a staple and, as always, leaves you full of good food. I was charged in duplicate, however, and it was up to me to review my charges to figure it out, and call to have them fix it. That said, they did correct the issue the next day.
Our waiter was the best he was so accommodating we had a show to catch and he went above and beyond to make sure we got there on time even giving us a short cut to take
I will never eat here again. I went there with my daughter as a treat we were enjoying a day in the city. After leaving the restaurant I noticed I was getting a few pains in my stomach but brushed it off. After taking my daughter to Dave's and Busters the pain was getting worse. The problem I soon discovered was food poisoning. I am still in a bit of pain. Later that evening my daughter started throwing up uncontrollably. I knew something was strange when for appetizers we ordered fried calamari and Caesar salad and less than three minutes later it was on our table. The food obviously is not fresh and for those prices one would think otherwise. I will never eat there again nor will my daughter. Word to the wise there are tons of Italian restaurants in NYC please for your health and well being choose another one.
Everything was excellent! We got seated very soon after our 9 o'clock reservation. Our waitress was very helpful, courteous, and prompt. The food was delicious! I would definitely recommend!
Have been here dozens of times when in New York for business or pleasure. Great food, service always.
We had an awesome server! He explained the style of restaurant and gave good food recommendations. He very very attentive to our needs!
Celebrated my daughter's 16 birthday with family and friends. Food was great and services was wonderful. We never felt rushed and enjoyed our meal and time with family. Great experience. We will be back!
I wish I remembered our waiters name, but he was awsome! Everything taste so much better with great service. NOTHING was disappointing. Thanks to all the staff, friendly and accommodating. A must experience for foodies!
The place was nice but I was not very happy about the food and I ended up getting food poisoning and throwing up the entire rest of the day
Very long wait, even longer wait for our spaghetti & meatballs once seated. No sign of our waitress after she got our order and brought mini glasses of water until 45 minutes later when we got dry spaghetti and meatballs & needed her for an extra sauce request. We requested bread & were told there might be some left. A basket of hard, dry bread was brought. We asked for extra marinara for our noodles, and we did get that, thankfully. Very loud; very outdated. We came after a Broadway show because of the reputation. Our cab driver said we were the 3rd people to say Carmine's was terrible that night. Our concierge said she never sends anyone there unless they insist! We wish we had asked her instead of just looking on OpenTable for availability. Please, do yourself a favor & skip it!!!
Served family style. My daughter and I ordered the cheese ravioli and it could have easily fed 4 people. Will defineltly go back on our next trip to NYC.
Great restaurant !! Everything everyone has said about is true! Excellent service, amazing food! The best of the best!
Carmines was a blast! When I booked the reservation I had no idea it was such an iconic New York eatery. People wait months to get a reservation. And not surprisingly! The place was big and joyous! The food is served on big platters so bring friends and family and your apetite! Much to my surprise ..as crowded as the place was..we weren't rushed out at all...we were able to eat at our leisure!! Our server was knowledgable and friendly. And the food (chicken parmigiana and spaghetti) was home made tasting and delicious!! We got a half order of the scrumptious ice cream dessert 'TITANIC'. A great way to top off the meal. If you're headed to New York City anytime soon (or not so soon) I'd make your reservation as soon as possible so you're you're not disappointed! If you don't have a reservation ..you might have to wait an hour or two! But eve then it'd be worth it!
Our service was great, the food was very good, and the prices were very reasonable. They are knowledgeable about gluten free issues, which is important to us as my wife has Celiac disease. The only negative was the noise. It was hard to have a discussion with our friends due to how loud it was. It is very large and it was very crowded.
Wonderful food, good service, bring your appetite and plenty of help to eat all the food. Great value!!!!
It was a fantastic evening. Food was great, service was great. Nice evening all around.
Amazing atmosphere. It was nice to dining experience after see POTO. A little pricy, but the family style is fun.
Good food, huge plates, a bit expensive, it is very big plates but still I wouldn't recomend if you were in a budget or if only 2 persons are sharing
When me & my party arrived the place was packed and hectic I immediately checked myself in and we had to wait by the bar it was like a mission to get to the bar area it was so many people I'm guessing because it was a Saturday night. We started getting impatient because it was passed 9:30 when our reservation was set for and we still weren't seated we finally had to go ask the hostess when our table was ready after that she finally came and seated us which was like 20mins after our set time. Overall the food was very good and it's family style so you don't have to order much cause it's enough to share with everyone, our waiter was good but you could tell he had a lot of other tables to focus on. This place was very crowded & busy so I recommend getting reservations it will be easier.
Great place if you have 4 or more in party. Way too much food for just 2 people!!
Took my mother as her Christmas gift before a Broadway Show. They say each item is good for 2 people. The reality us that it is good for 4 people. I had the Penne with Vodka, Chicken Marsalla, Stuffed Mushrooms and Caesar Salad. The waiter was 'ok', not much personality.
Our Family has been going annually for years around Christmas and love the place. We never seem to be able to get dinner reservations at the time we want even with a 2 month booking period. So warning book months in advance esp with 6+ more people.
Service, food, location, ambiance were all great. The food portion is huge! If you are dining bring at least 4 or you will definitely be taking food home. We were in NY for a few days this restaurant was highly recommended by several friends. It did not disappoint. Old school charm was my favorite aspect.
Great time! We were seated right away and the food was soooo good!! Love family style. Great Italian restaurant!
Great place to soak up the BY atmosphere. HUGE HUGE HUGE portions. We ordered lasagne between two people and it could have fed six people easily with the bread that was provided on the table. \nI wanted a side salad but again the salads are MASSIVE so can feed a group and i didnt want to waste more food.\n\nWe were staying in a hotel so didnt have the facilities to warm up any leftovers so we had to leave them. It would be good if Carmines partnered with a local homeless charity to distribute any leftover food at the end of each night, like Pret to (at least in the UK from what i now).\n\nDefinitely better for big groups, but wonderful authentic food.
It wasn't the first time I visir the Carmine's, but several times I have been there; and even in Nyc there are thousands of restaurantes, we always consider it to have dinner there, where we really have a good time.\nThere is something special that makes it different: For instance the plates are enough, it is not so expensive and the attention of the waiters to say something.\nAnytime I can, I recommend this great Restaurant to visit it, where you know really you are going to have a very good time. I will go there as soon as I can.
Service was outstanding, food was out of this world.
Great food. Family style is fun for a large group. Make sure you have reservations.
We had a wonderful time and the food and service were superb!
As usual Carmine's does not disappoint. The quality of the food and the service is always outstanding. Had a late reservaton (10:30pm) on a Friday night and when I left there were still people waiting for tables. Where else is there a crowd waiting to eat at midnight? Personal note: our waitress was such a sweetheart. After finishing only half our fried calamari appetizer we asked to have it wrapped. Then after finishing half the chicken Romano dinner (excellent Friday night special) we also asked to have it wrapped. When our leftovers came only the chicken was in the bag. The calamari was inadvertently discarded. Our waitress apologized and then returned 2 minutes later to inform us a fresh new full serving of fried calamari was being prepared for us to go, with the managers blessing. That, along with the best italian food in midtown, is why I have been going to Carmine's for 30 years.
Food was amazing ! Had ragu over ziti , was delicious - pieces of shredded beef , sausage, pork braciole and meatballs that were amazing ! Veal saltimbocca was a little tougher than I expected but delicious as well. \nWaiter very attentive . Will definitely go back.
My family and I visited the city and got many recommendations to eat at Carmine's. They had something for everyone, even the kids! The porterhouse steak was fabulous! Not to mention the spaghetti and meatballs! Loved it! Make a reservation in advance and enjoy!!
so good i will visit to soon
The food was delicious, the portions are massive, however our waiter didn't provide great service.
Do not remember the name of our waitress - but she had short red hair!! She was absolutely amazing and clicked with us. We were 8 Irish people having a reunion!! Cannot rave about her enough or praise her enough!!
Always a great dinner at Carmines. The pasta is amazing and authentic. The plates are very large family style, and one choice will feed four people.
Food was ok but not special. The fried zucchini was soaked with oil and was not crispy as it should be. You expect more from a restaurant that such a long waiting list to book a table.
Great AWESOME food. Friendly service and fast . Been there many times with friends . This time we took our friends from across the pond and they LOVED it. Thanks for a good meal. Even had enough left overs for two more meals .
This place is way overestimated, food may be alright and it may be a Times Square gem, but the service is THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Waiters and managers are so rude, acting as if we are doing them a favor, and the manager even went as far as to be prejudiced against my family's nationality, saying 'brazilians are awful'. Never going back.
In the city for a family day, our first time, carmines was recommended from a friend. Food was fantastic, best meatballs ever- our family hates onions- none to be found! Wish I could have gotten some to go but we were taking the train. Great value for family style eating, if we come back to the city will be back.
Had a great time. Food and service was very good. Very convenient location. Very lively atmosphere.
Carmine's was awesome! We ate there prior to the Billy Joel concert at MSG. Food was delicious!!! Place was packed. They forgot our appetizer, but no bid deal. We just ordered dessert instead!
bellowing patrons clamor for food with decibels smashing ear tympani drunk crowded wait must go love this place table must share one appetite family style double dipping blast
Ideal location in Times Square theater district. Family size portions can feed at least 4 people
Everything was wonderful except the food came out too fast
Very popular place. Therefore, they try and utilize even inch of space for seating. Feels like you are sitting in other guests laps. No scene of personal space. That's a lot of NY dinning though!
All excellent. Showed early for our reservation and we still seated almost immediately. Very informative and friendly staff. A great choice and come hungry!
First time my wife and I visited Carmines. We were seated without delay. Our server was friendly and helpful in explaining menu options. Prior to the visit we were not aware that the meals were 'family style' (portions for more than one). Not an issue, we went with the spaghetti and meatballs which were delicious. We had no room for dessert but were trying hard to find an excuse to try one of the several appealing options. We would go back and we recommend to others.
Went here based on online reviews as well as a recommendation from a staff member at our hotel. We were fully aware of the family-style method of serving, so no surprises there. The earliest OpenTable reservation available was 9:30 PM, so we took it. Our waiter, Nasser, was friendly, helpful, and fairly attentive.\nPlates that we ordered were (of course) large- we ordered one salad and two entrees for four, and took home leftovers of all three! Food quality was good. The house nebbiolo was reasonably priced and fruity.\nMy biggest disappointment was that many of the wines on the wine list (including my first, second, and third choices) were unavailable. There have been some rumors that Carmine's may be closing, and I could not help but wonder whether the restaurant was reducing their inventory in anticipation of this. Also, due to the late hour of the reservation, wait staff began to clear tables around us and removed pepper shakers from all tables (even our table), which seemed odd.\nOver all, a pleasant experience. I'll plan to dine here again when I return to New York.
I am here 5-6 times A YEAR, and this was the first time I was disappointed . and I love this place. the problem was that their was a private party until 2:00 pm, that's fine, but nobody told anybody, including the other customers that waited outside with me for about 20 min in the cold weather. when I asked the person at the door if we could wait at the bar, who knows maybe I would of brought a drink ?, she kind of gave us all an attitude.\n\nbut once , we got inside all was well
Huge portions, go with at least 3 or 4 people at least for your monies worth. Really we'll cooked tasty food, great service. Good value for money. Recommend the strawberry shortcake!
Had a great meal with a college friend and my 2 children. Waiter was very helpful. We had the fried zucchini app and it was AMAZING. Was literally enough for 6+ people! The chicken saltimbocca was fabulous! HIGHLY recommend.
What a wonderful experience! Always a great way to spend an evening. Food and service was fabulous
Delicious pasta party on Sunday! We order that for the four of us and we bring Food home! Always a pleasure! See you next Sunday!
Absolutely fantastic value, food portions huge which we learned first time around. Any over no problem in boxing leftovers up
Carmines is a fantastic value for large groups. The food is excellent. The service is very good for the amount of people they serve. The atmosphere just makes you want to have a good time.
Had a great time at Carmine's. Took family and friends for my son's birthday after seeing a play. Although it was crowded we were seating at a great table and had a wonderful waiter. The food was plentiful and really good. Such a fun place to go when not looking for a quiet little place to eat. Two thumbs up.
Always great food, always great service and always a good time!
Reservation was right there we waited like ten minutes for ate table which was unbelievable because they where packed I would use your service again and again thanks so much for a great time and the food was excellent so was the service thanks again Ray
We planned a trip to NYC to see a show and I tried to reserve a spot for 4 at Carmine's, 3 days ahead, but I was too late. There were no open reservations to be had at either of their (44th or 91st) locations. At the last minute before we left for NYC, there became an open spot for 5:30pm on 44th St. I reserved it and hoped that the restaurant would receive my reservation from Open Table, in time. Carmine's did have our reservation. We arrived at 5:20pm and were seated by 5:30, right on time! I was shocked with all of the people in the restaurant, with many walk-ins being turned away, and a last minute reservation, that we were cared for so promptly! Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating, the food was outstanding, and the service was top notch! Carmine's serves up lots of food and we had plenty to take home. Our waitress was so skilled at knowing how much food would be enough for our party. The food tasted like we were eating in a home Italian kitchen! We can't say enough about our experience at Carmine's! Peak from entry to exit! We will most definitely be back!
Our visit was wonderful. My family and I enjoyed the variety of food. The presentation of the food was excellent and the food was delicious. We will definitely be visiting Carmine's our next time in New York City. We had a beautiful day touring the city and Carmines's was the cherry on top! Thank you very much.
Carmine's was exceptional from the hostess at the door to the waiter staff. Food was A plus myself and my family enjoyed our meal especially my 6 year old she loved the meatballs. We will definitely be returning back to Carmine's. Thanks for making my daughter's birthday weekend a HIT!!
We have been to Carmines many times but this was one of the best!\nThe food and staff were terrific!\nThank you!
Wow! Great food and great service here at Carnines. The chicken parm was excellent as was the pasta and chicken Marsala. Overall great value with incredible food and great service! A must go to place if visiting!
The food was great. The family style portions are huge and priced well. The service took a little longer than it should have and the server was not very friendly. This is a great place for big appetites and families. It was way too much food for just the two of us.
Overall the experience was great, but the table for 2 was too small and they had no blenders so I could not order a Pina Colada and mudslide because she thought they were frozen drinks. Also there was way too much ice in the pitcher of sangria and mudslide on the rocks. The cost of the drinks was too expensive. The espresso martini was $14 and it was made way too strong. Other than that, it was good.
OUTSTANDING!! Our first time, we'll definitely go back again!
Carmines is a great place for when you have a large group and love good Italian food. We visit Carmines regularly but only have two people so can't really get a full dinner. This time we had a group of eight for dinner after a show. Perfect.\n\nWe did get seated promptly upstairs. We ordered drinks and appetizer and salad. The salad come out before the appetizer (thought it was different but ok no problem). The waiter said that one entree, salad and appetizer would not be enough for eight - it was perfect. \n\nThe food was great as usual but the service after we were served the food was hard to find. Waters were not filled, we needed more Parmesan and was hard to find the waiter to get more bread, etc. We were also very close to the table behind us and the waiters hit my guests in the back bringing them food - a bit annoying.\n\nOverall the food was great - service average - but would go back - great atmosphere.
Great as usual.\n Would add:\n1. Extra napkins , even better - wet napkins - if you order lobster ( seafood with red sauce is MESSY) , I had to ask and was given paper towels. \n2. Spoon , if you order any type of long pasta.
We were at the bar and never heard our name called, it can get a little loud. The only thing I would consider changing is the method of letting you know your reservation is ready. Staff was very friendly, knew the menu well and were able to answer any questions we had. Food was amazing.
Experience was great except for the wait for our reservation. There was absolutely not enough room near the bar when we were asked to wait a few minutes for a table (we did arrive about 15 minutes early). Other then that I don't really have any complaints.
Classic New York eatery. Huge portions - no need for 2 entrees.
Was able to get an open table reservation. Very lucky! Treated great the moment we walked in. Great food, great service
Found this using Open Table and booked it for our 7 member group. Was seated fairly quick once we arrived. Service was good, but they were very busy so drinks were a little slow. Food was excellent! Would def go again!
Large portions to share with the table.
Go there each time in NYC --great food and atmosphere-- suggest a reservation as long wait if just walk in, especially for dinner -- best for 4 people or more as all the food is family size portions, including salads and appetizers - will go again next time in NYC
This is our second time to Carmines. The first time was last June for our daughter's birthday. Because it was sooooooo good, we were coming into the city today and I recommended Carmine's to a group that had never been. My daughter came from Valley Stream and her boyfriend came from Brooklyn in AWFUL weather. As I am from CT the weather was terrible but we went in for Carmines!
Food is outstanding! Favorites are the calamari and chicken Parmesan. With a group we love to end the dinner by indulging in the titanic ice cream Sunday! Portions are family style so come prepared to eat and leave full!!
Very good Italian restaurant just off Times Square. Family style meals gives Carmine's a nice touch -- in both atmosphere and in the food. You must plan in advance with reservations, especially on weekends!
There were only two people for a late lunch celebrating a birthday. I think family style is great, but when there are only two people, there should be an option for half a platter of family style eating. There was far too much food for two people. Bringing the leftovers home on the LIRR was cumbersome. Otherwise, it was delicious.
Needed Individual gluten free options and not family style,
The food is great. The staff is wonderful and its a great fun location.
Always a great experience from the food , the staff and the ambiance.
I brought my son and his girlfriend to NYC from Philly to celebrate both making deans list at Penn State University. Everything was perfect except the waiter was very pushy and tried to upsell everytime he approached the table. When I told him I was from NY and worked on 33rd street for years he stopped. I do not want to begrudge anyone from making a living but I would have given him a larger tip if he had been a little less pushy. I gave him 20% of total bill but would have given him more because they work so hard in this restaurant. Just some feedback for your staff. I still love the place. Reminds me of home- large- loud and comfort food!
Been there before and food is always good. But this time the chicken parm tasted like it was cooked in dirty oil. It had a strong oily taste to it. Hard to explain but that's how it was to me, although my husband and son didn't seem to mind. Other then that, we had a reservation for 830, got there early and were sat right away. Service was great. Meatballs were tasty. Food seems expensive until you see the portions - family style huge portions. Expensive $15 cocktails - expected for NYC.
Great food .....one dish enough for the 3 of us. Very good value
Wondering family style restaurant. Food and staff are fabulous
Great service and food
Carmine's was such a disappointment and is way overestimated. I can't recommend anyone to go there. As a first time visitor in New York and searching for a fairly well reputed Italian restaurant in Midtown I came across Carmine's. \nWe were a party of 2 and the waiter recommended us to share a dish as they were enormous. After choosing between the lasagna or the meatballs we went for the latter one. The waiter repeated our order and we confirmed that he got it right. 10 min later a lasagna was put down on our table. I kindly responded that this was a mistake and that we had ordered meatballs. The waiter begun to argue that the lasagna came with meat too. We responded that we really wanted what we had ordered. We received no appologies, only a disappointed look from him telling us that we were annoying. His manners left us feeling very uncomfortable. When the correct order arrived moments later it was served by a waitress. She placed the shared plate on our table with a crash looking very angry (or maybe tired?). She quickly, with no finesse, served each of us from this huge potion leaving my white blouse stained with tomato sauce. I was too shocked to say anything. She left the table still looking very arrogant with no 'Bon apetit' nor anything. The dish it self was very mediocre for being served in a restaurant with so many 'likes'. No more than an average pasta you could easily achieve at home.
It was great! Loved it!!!
Fabulous....thank you. We really enjoyed our evening even though we ate way too much.
This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. The food is great! Keep in mind that you need to reserve in advance for dinner time. We got a 2 pm reservation the day before, but dinner reservations weren't available for a few days. The portions are huge, because its family style. We had the fried calamari appetizer & penne ala vodka which was more than enough for 3 people. We still had food to bring home. When you look at the menu, it might seem expensive, but you have to consider that you will only be ordering one dish for 3-4 people. The only problem is getting everyone to agree on the same dish. We could have even skipped the appetizer and just ordered an entree for the 3 of us. Also if you like sangria, try the red sangria--it was great!
Was outstanding, as always. Food is always great, servers are expert and the whole operation is very efficiently run.
The service and food were excellent. Love the nostalgic atmosphere.
Our first place to eat on every visit to NYC. Fabulous!!!
Dinner with my granddaughter. Food was overwhelming in size, but delish!
The food was just okay but the service was HORRIBLE! The decor was nice but it was hard to appreciate anything else since you are crammed in like sardines next to complete strangers.
Great spot for large groups .\n\nWe had a party of 12, Reservations held up even though I changed the number of guests 3 times. Very accommodating. GREAT value, we ordered 4 appetizers and 5 entrees (Including 2 porterhouses that were fabulous) .\n\nWe drank pitchers of beer (a ton) and the bill was under $70.00 dollars a man. We are big guys each around 230 lbs. We all had plenty.\n\nThe waiter was great and advised me how much to order and he hit the amount perfectly.\n\nThanks
The food was out of this world! My friends and I went to NYC for the day and stumbled upon this place. We loved it and we're so full after! The six of us ordered 2 entrees, the penne alla vodka and chicken parm, and it was the perfect amount. Our waitress wasn't the best but there was always other staff that would check in on us
I have eaten at Carimine's many times. I am almost always impressed with the service and ambiance. This time was no different, with one exception. In the middle of our meal the server changed, although the original server was still serving other tables. The new server was MUCH less attentive. He wasn't available when we needed him and we had to ask for our check.
Great food and service, my favorite Everytime I visit NY. Can't wait to go back. Thanks
I've been to Carmine several time and this was the best. I love the food, drink and atmosphere. My favorite time is Friday after work but those times are hard to get. As a repeat customer I wish it could be made easier. Thank you for such a great experience.
Always a great experience, awesome food and friendly staff!!!!
This was my first time to Carmine's after growing up in New York. I can't believe how long it took me to get there! I was absolutely fantastic and right in the heart of the theater district! I went for my birthday and split a chicken parm over pasta with my mom and it was more than enough food for the two of us. We brought home probably another meal and a half of leftovers! It was absolutely delicious! I had made a reservation weeks in advance and was glad to have done so because the wait was almost two hours long without one!
As always the food was great!
Actually sat at the bar because we wanted the lunch menu. The girl bartender was amazing. Very helpful, kind, and pleasant. Lunch menu options were great. Delicious!
The salad special and the Penne Bolognese was excellent. However, the chicken saltinbucca was disappointing.
Never disappointed when we dine here. Food is yummy and the value is great. We even had food left over this time!
The food was amazing. I recommend the Chocolate martini as a drink.
This was a difficult meal for our family in terms of how they serve. $30 for a plate of spaghetti that will feed everyone is a good deal if everyone will eat just one thing. Even the salad was huge. We are accustomed to this type of dining from bucca de Peppo, a west coast chain. Carmines was better but there was no large or small portion. You had to get a huge portion. The desserts looked amazing but it didn't work for three for lunch. We were also disappointed the lunch menu wasn't available because on Jan 4th they said they were still serving for the holidays. That was totally irritating.
It was our first time and we were kind of skeptical based on our last outing. But we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, the service and the food. \nIt was just amazing, first in a long time we've been out without a complaint.\nTruly amazing, special thanks to our waitress(IA) for explaining everything to us and providing us with such fantastic service.
Excellent Food and Service, Every time we go !! Great Place...
Excellent place to eat! We will return to this place on our next trip to NYC. Highly recommended to others to visit and eat at this location.
Fabulous food , huge portions, amazing strawberry shortcake and I love the fact that you can take away all your leftovers !
Great authentic Italian comfort food, family style dining , generous portions. Casual and fun dining experience. Our waiter Caesar was great!
First time in NYC and several friends recommended Carmines as one of the best places to eat-we were not disappointed! Food was great as was service. Ambiance was 'old school Italian' so felt very authentic and consistent with menu choices. Had reservations and were promptly taken to our table upon arrival. Overall an excellent experience!HD a wonderful dinner there January 2
Carmines was fantastic! Been here on multiple occasions and it never fails to disappoint. The food is family style so you get A LOT but it's worth the price! Amazing food, amazing dessert, amazing drinks. Service was great also. Don't have anything negative to say about the experience! Wonderful time.
Great experience every time. Carmines is our Christmas tradition. Thank you Edwin for wonderful and understanding service. One of our Daughters is vegan, and Edwin was very helpful and patient.
Have been to Carmines many times in the evening but this was the first time we were there for a late lunch. It was exquisite! We loved the house wine (Carmines), the penne vodka and spaghetti and meatballs amazing. As always we finished off with Titanic ice cream treat and it is SO good for people to share. A bit too much whipped cream rather than ice cream this time though.
The food was fantastic, but the waiter we had truly sucked. He came to the table a combined total of 3 times in the two hours we were there. Once to get our order, once to drop it off, and once to drop off the check. He was very curt and kind of rude. \n\nHowever, the shrimp with white sauce and chicken farfalle were absolutely delicious. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had, and definitely top three in New York City.
It was great
Excellent in every respect. Did not expect such quick service on New Year's Day, however we were pleasantly surprised and delighted. We had a one o'clock reservation. No waiting. Staff was excellent and made good suggestions for the kids. We enjoyed a great meal! Definitely coming back.
Portions large, wow what a feast. Nice decor, my date was impressed with the place.
I booked well in advance for a family meal on a holiday from Ireland.\n\nWe arrived to a packed venue but our reservation was noted and we had our table in 10 mins. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The place is well kitted out and reminds you of those big Italian diners and bars from movies.\n\nThe portions are massive ....too big in fact unless 4 are eating together because we had 3 and couldn`t eat a starter of garlic bread, Linguine with Scampi and Lasagna...The food was ok to good (linguine with prawns were better than Lasagna) but as portions are so big it got cold quickly. Our meal of one starter and two family portion mains, 1 bottle of wine and a beer came to $200. In fairness there was enough to bring home to eat the next day which a lot seem to do (we were on holidays so packed it up and gave it to someone homeless outside).\n\nWe enjoyed the experience but would probably try somewhere else where you could order smaller dishes and try a bit more variety in the future. If you haven`t been there and are planning a large family outing or work occasion I`d recommend it.
Portions are gigantic. If you're on a date, there will be leftovers. Had the house Pinot Grigio. Great compliment to our shrimp fra diavilo.
Thankful for the reservation at Open Table. We walked in on New Year's Day and we seated immediately. Service was good, order the Carmine' Salad and Lasagna. Great food, and enough left over for dinner the next day. Would highly recommend both Carmine's and Open Table.
Superb service by Chie and delicious plates meant for sharing, will definitely came back many times!!
Carmine's was wonderful and the food was fantastic too. You all need to open a carmine's in Austin Texas!
Great Italian food that tastes like your grandmother from Italy made. Absolutely delicious!\nNever had anything there that wasn't outstanding. Presentation of everything they serve is wonderful.
Food and service all great. Will go again Just noisy but there were a lot of people so I think that's unavoidable
Always an overabundance of good food and atmosphere
Not a good experience. Our waiter was rude, bread came out freezing cold, my sprite had a weird nasty taste to it and we waited a very long time for our food. The food was alright but nothing special. I had very high hopes for this place but it was a major letdown. Would not recommend.
Everything was fine except for one small issue with our waiter. When we ordered the chicken parmigiana the waiter asked if we wanted it over pasta. I specifically asked him if there was an additional charge for the pasta since we had ordered two other pasta dishes. He said 'NO'. When the bill arrived there was an $11.00 charge for the additional pasta. When I brought it up to the waiters attention he stated that I hadn't asked him that previously. There were five other people at the table and they all were in agreement that I had asked the question and that he had answered it by stating that the pasta was included. At this point I was not going to let the $11 charge ruin the night so I left it alone. \nAny other waiter at an establishment such as 'Carmines' would have 'immediately' removed that charge from the bill and/or have had a Manager come speak with us. Neither occurred.\nThis was very disappointing.
Best restaurant in NYC. I usually go either every Christmas or every new year, we alternate. Best food
It was my son's 6th birthday dinner and it was wonderful. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Great comfort/family style food and nice service. Regardless of low cost for a restaurant at the very core of theater district, we've enjoyed a quite pleasant meal.
i live around the corner and haven't been able to get a reservation for the last three weeks, so i snagged the first opening they had. 4pm New Year's Day - perfect time to go to Carmine's. we were luckily seated in a front corner upstairs so it was nice and quiet, even if the table wasn't large enough to accomodate the platters of food AND a plate to eat it off of. Food was delicious, as always.
Great food, excellent service, lovely ambience. Would definitely go back!
It was the 2nd time dinning here and it gets better every time.\nExcellent food, great service , pleasure to dine, enjoy, and visit.
Bring your appetite! Family style and priced right. Great atmosphere and food, for being a ton, tastes fantastic great!
I took both of my daughters to new York for the week. We went to Carmines after the theater. It was so much fun. The environment was so special and fun. Our servers were knowledgeable and attentive. They portions are huge. The staff boxed the leftovers for us and we had another meal . I would definitely recommend and will go there again. The cheesecake is delicious.
Lively and fun day out with friends. Great portions to share and not very pricey. Lots of great option - just your good eats with good fun, wouldn't call it fine dining but was satisfying.
Fantastic as always. Get the fried zucchini!!
Great, very consistent.
We went for lunch before the theatre. My grandchildren loved everything about Carmine's and want to go again! Great day with the 'kids'!
Great food and great service.
Hard to get a reservation. Fantastic restaurant and bar!
If you are going to New York City, add it to your list of things to do while you are there. Great Italian food. Family and group friendly.
Despite a 50 minute wait even with a reservation all irritation was forgotten when the friendly staff and good food took over. Good value.
Love this place in NYC!
Fantastic, especially for being in Times Square. Very kid friendly, affordable and the food was fast and delicious. Frozen cosmo is a must. Definitely need a reservation.
We had a fabulous pre-theater dinner!! Our party of 7 had three entrees and salad which was perfect
Carmines never fails to offer the best food with impeccable service and excellent prices. \nThey respect your reservation as we sat within 5 minutes of checking in!
We had a 5:30 reservation had to wait till after 6 to be seated. Over booking for a busy time of yr. Lesson learned be prepared to wait even with a reservation, but should only be 15 minutes at most.
At the recommendation of a friend we made reservations. Eating at Carmine's was one of the best food experiences I've had in NYC. The seafood pasta was outstanding with sweet and moist lobster. I will now make it a point to visit Carmine's when I travel to NYC.
Meal before a broadway show. Perfect location. Great food every time I eat here a great place to dine.
Huge Portions! Bring more than two people so you can sample more of the menu.\n\nGreat Wait Staff very helpful in working through the menu, and wine.\n\nGot there early with reservations and was seated immediately.\n\nVery Busy, not a quiet dinner for two, this is a great place to enjoy a great meal with Friends and Family.\n\nWould definitely go again.
Nothing to say but it's the best. Visited years apart and still it's wonderful!
Great atmosphere, amazing food and friendly staff.\nVery large portions!
This is convenient for mid town events. The serice is average, with the food plentiful but uninspired, no spirit or flavor.\n\nThis is for tourists. Overpriced with location being the only benefit.
Very consistent food which is fresh and well prepared. Service is efficient and friendly.
Always eat here when in NYC. Great vibe, great food and unique environment. Huge portions of delicious Italian fare. Can't go wrong.
Carmine's in 44th never disappoints. The ambiance is spectacular during the holiday season, however, the food and service are the stars of the show! We plan a visit at least once each year.
They seated us on time and upstairs. It's much quieter there. It is always a wonderful meal
Excellent as always!
Great food and service. Can't wait until I go back next year. I will definitely go to Carmines again.
Check-in process for those with reservations overly stressful.
Excellent food and atmosphere, worth the wait and family time. Food is served in large portions 4-6 people can eat from one dish. We ordered the chicken Parmesan, garlic bread and Cesar salad delicious!
Carmine's is always our go to restaurant when we are in NYC. The food is terrific and the service is top notch. The food is served family style and the prices are great considering the portion sizes and that it is in the heart of Times Square!
Good food & atmosphere plus reasonably priced. Bar area downstairs not adequate when waiting during busy periods. Bar staff disinterested. Always eat upstairs.
We had reservations for 7:30 and they were able to get us in earlier..the Carmines Salad was huge and delicious and the meatballs well so moist!!
Girls trip to NYC!
Family style serving so you better be hungry. A ton of food!!
Great food, very LARGE servings tho.
First of all, I hope to recommend this restaurant for the families and friends who want to have good time with accompanies.\nBut recommend not to allow the server who want to explain and show our table to others while we are still having our meal.\n\nOur server, she made us really upset.\n\nI understand she tries to explain our table and dishes who were seating on next tables. I totally understand what she was trying to but, before that, at least she had to ask us first.\n\n1. We are in the middle of having lunch. not finished yet.\n2. She explained and showed our table and dishes to the other people while we still had lunch.\n3. She touched and moved our water bottle on the table to show much more well to other table's people while we are eating.\n4. not the only one time. this continues another table too.\nshe repeated this again.\n5. Never asked our permission.\n\nWe explained this 2 times and decided to go home. because we did not want continue to have lunch anymore.\n\n1. we called her to ask the check.\n2. she just showed us up pointed finger and said wait.\n\nThis repeated several times until we receive the check.\n\nI know it was christmas day and it is extremely busy. And I understand that sometimes it takes time to hear customers asking.\nBut I do not understand this action and attitude is allowed for the server.\nShe is not our teacher or parent. \nI felt like I am a monkey in the zoo.\n\nI asked her 'Is this good service for the customer?'\nShe never said sorry or apologies about her action and attitude.\nJust keep repeated 'I understand.'\n\nI still do not know, why she said 'understand' \nAt that time, she had to say sorry or apologies.\nI wanted to call manager of the restaurant right away but it was christmas day and there were lots of families who had great time. \n\nStill do not feel good and this is my own experience.\n\nCarmine is a still good restaurant itself and other servers were great. But please avoid this server as possible.
I've been going to Carmine's every year during the holiday season since the place opened. This year we did Christmas dinner and they never disappoint. Secret: The boiled porter house is the best steak in NYC. I'm a New Yorker...
We enjoyed a large lunch after Christmas weekend. The waiter was very attentive! The meals are served family style. We got a Cesar salad to share. We didn't finish it. The dressing was a little too fishy for my taste. We also got the chicken parm. It was good. You have to pay $11 extra for pasta. It was an expensive lunch, but we wanted to try a restaurant in that area. The staff was very good!
Recommended by a friend and it lived up to our expectations. We were in NY for Christmas and had an early supper before the theatre. Great food, service and atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
Loved it Great prices and location and huge portions!
Every Christmas season we go to NYC to see the tree at Rockefeller Center and always enjoy an outstanding meal at Carmine's! Carmine's is part of our family holiday tradition. Great food, incredible staff and good value!
Perfect! Delicious food and wines!
The hostess desk was busy but I was seated immediately even prior to my reservation time. It took a few minutes to even get a glass of water but it was very busy due to Christmas Day crowd. The food was excellent and authentic Italian. The gnocchi alfredo was just like my Nona used to make. The manicotti had homemade crepe shells which were the same as my mom and aunt used to make. It was enough food for at least 4 people and was one order of the 4 pasta plate. Lots of leftovers which heated up beautifully the next day.
This place was simply amazing. It was my first time and when they say family style they mean it by the portions so bring your appetite or lots of friends. All of the food was delicious.
Can't wait to try more things. Had an excellent time.
We have started a tradition after my mom passed away to continue Christmas in a family like atmosphere and Carmine's is it..
Carmines was a delightful experience as usual. Wonderful Italian comfort food. Huge portions and superb service.
Our service was outstanding - Matt had us wanting to try every dish! The food did not disappoint - every bite bursted with flavor. We visited at Christmas time, so the restaurant was decked out in beautiful decorations throughout. Attention to detail at every step and with every bite.
Had low expectations when we saw the crowd but really loved it. Food was great. Struggled to eat it all.
Best experience in dining while in town. Thank you
Great place for the holidays with the family, great service and food.
Food was very good, big portions so it's worth your money. Staff was nice and they helped us with making a decison with our order. I recommend the chicken parmigiana and the shrimps!
Booked for our Christmas Day lunch and absolutely loved it!!! The food and Steven our waiter was the best
Carmine's was a great family dining experience. Wait staff was especially friendly and fun.
The hostess were very rude. The bread was cold and they need to buss tables faster.
We had the lasagna and it was delicious!\nThe waitress was friendly and the prices are very good too.
The food was delicious but 4 of us could eat it.\nThe price was good for the size of the portion. \nDefinitely recommend it.
Very busy- touristy- make reservation. \nService subpar... had a minor water spill, we cleared it up with our own napkins. Waiter covered the spill area with a new napkin but never replaced our original napkins that were sitting on the table in a pile. Bread basket great - BUT no butter or EVOO??? Veal was good not great - the entree has NO side dish, it did not appear you could get a smaller side of anything, so this forces you to get another full entree... Our first visit, we would not return. Beware of portions if dining with 2 people...
Love to visit when in the city. Decorated so nice and festive for holidays. Had a very nice young lady as our waitress who loves Ny and was great . Family style shrimp scampi so\nGood! Love it here!
Nice, but definitely have to make a reservation, or you'll be standing outside for God knows how long. Best thing it's near the theater district, if you're going to eat, then see a Broadway Show it's great ! Make sure you bring plenty of money, it's pricey. Food is good, but not great............
Extremely disappointed in this visit. We come\nTo New York every Christmas and it's a tradition to eat here . So it was disappointing to not be able to have lunch but be forced to order an obscenely large dinner for two people, which I gave to a homeless person. If they do this again next year we will not come to Carmines. To me this felt like this well-established, excellent restaurant, was price gouging for the holidays. They should be ashamed of this practice.
Great place for a family lunch, the bigger the group the better
food was great, if we're 3-4 members it must be awesome, but its food amount was enormous, so 2 of us remain half of our food.
I get the 'al dente' thing but the pasta was actually hard. We always get chicken scallopine in lemon and butter, but this time the sauce was very thin. It's usually a little thicker, not quite the consistency of gravy but not like water either. Fried calamari were good and so was the chicken parm.
Fabulous food. Wish we had saved room for the deserts.
We were on a girls trip in NYC. Went there the last day for lunch and was the perfect place to recap our trip and have a glass of wine to wind down before leaving the city.
The food was awesome!! One of the best Italian Restaurant I have been to
Service and food was excellent! Wish I didn't have to make my plans months in advance!
Had reservations for 1 PM and was promptly seated at a table upstairs. We ordered the fried calamari, a caesar salad and the chicken parm which was enough for the 4 of us. All at the table enjoyed the meal and we were not rushed even though the restaurant was crowded. Especially liked that they leave a pitcher of water on the table so you don't have to track down a waiter every time you want a refill. Good service, good food and good company. Would definitely go back again.
Classic! Bring your feed bag...
Always amazing food & service
Carmine's Restaurant never disappoints. It is the best place to go for Italian food when you have a group.
The service was not good. never got ice tea. \n\nHad to remind the waiter to give one of us a plate to eat with.
Never miss it on our trips to NYC
MUST MUST MUST DO for NYC: The food is amazing. HUGE... super huge. My rule is, order what you want and just realize you'll have a lot left over. My favorite is the Wings. I often go and only order the wings.
Great restaurant and food , lots of food for your $$
The food was outstanding. We arrived a little close to closing and wish we were there longer. We are from Va and the others are from upstate NY. The meals were supposed to come with pasta but our server forgot to bring it to the table. I'd be able to give a better review next time.
My family and I ate at Carmines in NYC on a recent trip to the city. It's family style, so the portions serve at least 4, with plenty leftover. We ordered prime rib and 4 different pastas. Our food was absolutely fantastic! Our server was extremely helpful in helping us make our choices of food. The menu is great! Something for everyone. I highly recommend Carmines and will definitely be returning on our next trip to NYC!
A wonderful evening with friends, over great food and well prepared drinks, in a high-energy setting!
We had a reservation for a Sunday night at 10\nPm....packed and fun...Excellent!
Good restaurant for a special day; \n\n\n\nVery busy place of people, they hardly assign you a month without a reservation
Arrived a little early for our reservation so decided to sit at the bar for a drink. Service at the bar was very slow. When we sat at the table, we were still eating our appetizer when they came out with the entrée. Sent it back to kitchen so it could be kept warm. When ready for entrée food was as hot as it should have been. They need to learn to stagger the courses.
What a wonderful experience! Carmine's was highly recommended to me several months ago when we were planning a trip to NYC. We had an early lunch and by the time we left there was not an empty table in the place. Warning - the food portions are very generous and our waiter explained that they are meant to be shared by 4 people. There were only 2 of us. We ordered Shrimp Scampi served over angel hair pasta. Our server, Michael, was wonderful! Highly recommend, especially to larger groups where you could order two or more entrees and share them.
Oversized (but priced accordingly) plates is the theme. Food is good enough. Sadly the place is a formula. Only 1 menu for 5 people? You're supposed to read the wall menu. But I have senior citizens - I can't have more menus? No. I had to go through 4 people, the last of whom finally brought us take out menus that my older family members could read from. Then, my father in law politely asked if they could warm the bread. No. Again. It's like the restaurant from Saturday night live - whatever you ask for is answered with a No. Ok, that the veal parm wasn't hot wasn't too noticed by the oldsters, though I am sure it would have benefited from currently-melted mozzarella. But it was ok, as was the plate of pasta.. You get it. Ok enough. Finally, The oversized bread pudding made my guests forget all the No's. \nBut I didn't.
It was okay, but they offered very limited entrees and our server was a real sourpuss.
Food was perfect as always and quick to be served. Server was not very personable. We have dinner at Carmine's every time we visit NY and this was this first time we didn't enjoy our server.
First trip to NYC, wanted to experience Carmine's and made our reservation months in advance. Arrived at reservation time, party was seated promptly. Restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas season. Menu is complicated, when our food arrived, we realized that we had made a mistake when ordering and wanted to adjust our order to add additional pasta. The waiter was very rude, he loudly informed us that he had given us the opportunity to do so earlier and that it was an imposition to make this request now. Needless to say this put a damper on our dining experience as this really upset some members of our party. We did receive our additional order, however we did not see our waiter again for the duration of the meal except when he showed up with the bill.
Great place for authentic Italian food that's always cooked perfectly.
Although very busy, the service was great and wait staff was attentive. Food is always excellent a great value for a nice meal in the city.
Absolutely fabulous. Our fifth time there, we come every year, and will certainly be back next year!
Great Service, Great Food, Fantastic atmosphere. We went during Christmas and it was decorated so pretty!
Finding 3 hairs in my slice of cheesecake ruined the whole experience of being at Carmine's. We also found our waitress treated us like an inconvenience rather than customers. She was busy, but to stop by our table and tell us she couldn't wait on us because the people who were there before us would get mad was a bit ridiculous. It was an odd experience. The people I brought with me who had never been before were not impressed. We debated on not tipping but others did their job well. I have been to Carmine's before and was looking forward to coming back...I won't go out of my way to book or come again.
First time to New York and first time to Carmines! Food Was Great! The Special was Awesome & The Titanic Dessert was Amazing! Would make reservations to go again next time I'm in New York!
Food, drinks, and service were outstanding and worth every penny. I would definitely recommend and return again.
We had a great time, the food was great and I gave you outstanding, however, we ordered the Calamari as we always do, but this time it was very soggy.
Make reservations way ahead. Great food , service and atmosphere too. One of NYC's best places to eat... I give it a 10
Below find our reservation info from Open Table... WE WERE TURNED AWAY as we were told they did not have the reservation. It was my mother's birthday and she is handicapped. It was one of the coldest days of the year. We deserve a credit and an APOLOGY. We were left with no where to go with hours before the Broadway show. This is a disgrace and I was mortified.
Great fun before our Broadway show. My daughter had never been there so we enjoyed the New York ambience and the great Frank Sinatra songs.
We had lasagna and Carmine's salad, both were very good. Amount of food serves 4 people easily. I thought the bar was expensive.
Excellent end to our New York trip. Have been there many times and there is no place quite like\nit!!
the food and service was excellent, I just felt a little rushed
Great Christmas spot all dressed up for holiday fun.
We have had our office Christmas lunch at Carmine's 44th Street several times, however, this will be the last time. Service was poor and the food was almost cold when put on the table. It was approx 15 minutes after we were seated before anyone came to take even a drinks order. There were 12 in our party and the drinks were delivered to the table 2 at a time with several minutes between each delivery. We started with salad which was served quite quickly but after that we waited approx 30 minutes before the rest of the order was served. We had to ask the waiter on 2 occasions what the delay was. When the food came to the table it was almost cold. It had obviously been prepared but not served as soon as it was ready. We ordered after dinner drinks and again, we had to ask the waiter twice why 2 of the drinks were not served. I know Christmas is a busy time but if Carmine's cannot cater for the rush, then they should not take so many reservations so that the service does not deteriorate. Overall, a very poor experience.
First night in the city, had reservations and got right in. It was crowded and noisy, but to be expected. Our server was amazing, led us to the perfect dinner selection of shrimp parm. We have two kids who ate from the kids menu and my one daughter nearly cleaned her plate of spaghetti and meatballs, she loved it! My picky daughter raked the penne with butter pretty high too! The server was personable and gave suggestions for what we should do while in the city, especially in the 15 degree weather we experienced. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will be back!
Wonderful food! Wish they had smaller portions? Great services!
Food was absolutely amazing. Great service and the strawberry shortcake was to die for
Large portions, good service , above average food, above average prices
We where a party of 4 sat by the window watching people passing by , the food was delicious ð and plenty of it per order do yourself a favor and try to make reservations we ate there on a Tues. afternoon and it was packed!
When we arrived at out designated reservation time of 12noon, the place was packed and we figured we'd have a wait. But not at all - we were seated at 12:05!! The food was great and our waitress, Josie, was delightful!
We go to Carmines once a year around Christmas . It is a family tradition that we all look forward to. My only problem is that you have to make the reservation so far in advance.
The food was pretty good. The service was pathetic. Our waitor really couldn't have cared less about us and it really affected our entire experience. Considering the rave reviews this place has gotten and the fact that it was my daughter's birthday and we were so excited to eat there, we left disappointed. We were going to order an appetizer, 3 different entrees and dessert and our waitor's attitude made usome want out quick so we just got 2 appetizers and 1 entree. Very disappointing and wished we had chosen somewhere else for our special occasion on our visit to NYC.
Amazing food! We go every year before the Christmas show. Never disappointing.
Calamari is wonderful. Fairly pricy. We had calamari, plain pasta with marina and tap water and it was $70.
Delicious food as always! I can' wait to eat here again.
Great informative service with LARGE servings. Enjoyed!
Recommended by a friend for our first trip to NYC. Tried to book dinner a couple of months prior but it was already full. Got a lunch reservation. A little early for reservation and got seated almost immediately. Food did not disappoint! It was delicious!! Waitress was so friendly too.
Our dining experience at carmine's was outstanding....everything about our lunch was great...the atmosphere, waiter, the food, drinks and dessert. I highly recommend Carmine's for any occassion....
Loved this restaurant. Good food. Nice waiters. Tons of food. Great leftovers!! Music was a bit too loud and maybe there could have been better song choices!
Excellent salad and family style Italian food. The lemon and butter chicken cutlet was outstanding ðð
Excellent food , atmosphere and service ! Food was delicious and plenty. Bday dinner and dessert was exceptional also but should have a bday dessert free for the bday person . Would be a nice touch .
Always look forwarding to dining at Carmines when visiting NYC!
excelent, good food , cheap plates, to go with a big group
Went to Carmine's before seeing a show. Albeit tough to get a reservation since it's the holidays and planned late, they were very accommodating. As someone who lives in NYC and doesn't visit Times Square often, the food, service and atmosphere was great. Highly recommend Carmine's for special occasions and families. Very kid friendly.
called when I made reservations that I needed parking. told to get validated parking Central lot on 44 st between 8 and 9 ave. Also looked at website that stated same imformation. problem is that there is no lot named central parking. on a saturday there is so much traffic you cant simply stop at restaurant and find out. phone call gave me same imformation. when i told manager and hostess no one offered to any compensation. the service was disappointing. i asked for butter and ice with no luck. I asked for salmon rare and it was still overcooked. I ordered zucchini fries and was surprised to find that it was close to $20 dollars. Not a great experience.
Fantastic food. Family style. You won't be disappointed. Go hungry!
Eight of us meet at Carmines after the theatre and our table was ready, service was A+, love the family style so that we could sample many dishes and the atmosphere is great.
My party and I had a great time .We have plans to come back next year
We come every year around Christmas time. Food great! Service great! Server, Michelle was awesomeðð
Great time and awesome food and service our annual Christmas dinner with family
Waited a bit longer than we should of for our table to be ready but other than that amazing service and portions for a large group
We were seated quickly once arriving for our reservation. Staff was very accommodating, friendly and efficient. The food was amazing! After 3 years of visiting NY, we were so excited to finally get a reservation. Hope to visit again!
The original of a now multi-state group of Italian restaurants. Family style to the max, all dishes ordered are platters of food and serve four to five people. You can't order a dish for one, bring family and friends. Menu is extensive and covers the entire Neapolitan Italian food: pasta, meats, and fish. Pasta is served al dente as it should be. Desserts leave a little to be desired on the creativity scale but are tasty. Prime dining hours are crowded and reservations are a must. Noise level tends to be high, not the place during prime dinner hours for intimate 'quiet dinner'.
Enjoyed the food and our server was great. On the downside- when Carmine's was ready to turn the table, they allowed the next group to stand around our table to hurry us up- not appreciated.
One of m all-time favorite places to eat. The food is just wonderful and the staff is friendly and attentive. Everything I have ever eaten at Carmine's is delicious and I highly recommend this restaurant!!
The food came so quickly. Very good for having to make a specific time line
Had never been... heard it was great from someone that had been there 10 years ago. I think the place is over rated....tourist trap. It was cram packed - loud - food ok/good. I wouldn't go again.
My friends and I come to NYC every year to eat at Carmine's & see a Broadway show. We have always been extremely satisfied with the delicious entrees we choose. We always choose a veal entrée & it has usually been 'melt in your mouth tender' but on our last two visits, the veal was tough and in some pieces, gristly. Very disappointing!!!!! Sounds like you are getting substandard veal compared to what you usually get. Hope this changes!
Go here about 4 times a year and it's always perfect would recommend to anybody and you always get plenty of food.
Food, atmosphere and employees were great. I would absolutely recommend the restaurant to a friend.
I was a visitor to NYC catching a musical nearby. I had a reservation that was honored without waiting, sat right down. The portions are big and are for sharing, a group of 4+ would probably be best, for a couple, you will have a lot of leftovers. My wife and I had stuffed mushrooms and chicken parm on angel hair pasta. No room for desert. Wine selection was good. I will definitely return.
Carmine's is on my 'to go' list each time I visit NYC. The service is excellent and the food is authentic Italian. The wine list is extensive. This is family dining at its best. Definitely make a reservation as Carmine's is a favorite place of many. I will be a repeat customer.
Been coming here since 1985, never disappoints, just wish it wasn't so crowded.
This restaurant was highly recommended by several people, so we decided to check it out on a recent trip to NYC. The ambiance was nice but the food was average, poor wine selection and our server seemed rushed and uninterested in describing the couple of dishes we inquired about. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. There are so many better places to eat in the city.
Very Good food. Noisy downstairs. Upstairs quieter.Good value.
Must have reservation. Quick seating with reservation. Excellent service family style dining. Hugh portions. Highly recommend the seafood pasta and the carmine salad. The best dessert anywhere is their chocolate torte. It's enough for four to share.
Absolutely wonderful meal and ambiance! Highly recommend. Be sure to make reservations. The place was packed all night!!
As always, Carmine's was wonderful. Food, service...the whole experience was great. We will be back !
Food was amazing. Huge family style portions!!! GREAT SERVICE!!!
I am sorry to say but we had a very bad experience. The food was horrible and the server was rude. I am very surprised and disappointed
Great food. Service was spot on. Waitress was knowledgeable. We had a reservation for 1:30 but we got there early and they took us
Carmine's is always amazing.\nfood was awesome.\nvery convenient to show.had the veal parm and also rigatoni with sausage and broccoli.\nalways extra to take home and enjoy another day.\nwill return again.
It was a great experience. Excellent food, good service. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Very friendly people. We had a reservation and we arrived earlier and they accommodate us. Fresh food and great taste.
Paul our server was awesome!
Carmine's was great all the way around! When we needed to increase the number in our party, they quickly accomodated us. We had a table perfect for us to talk, enioy outstanding service, take in the decorations, share wonderful food and plan our next trip back. Thanks Carmine's.
This was our 3rd time dining here and we were so disappointed. We had reservations but were seated in the back in a dark corner behind a wall stacked with napkins. Our server either had a bad night or wished he was somewhere else. We normally love our experience at Carmine's, but will make plans to eat somewhere else the next time we're in NYC.
Had a wonderful lunch at Carmines on 44th with my family celebrating birthdays. Wait staff very helpful in explaining how the menu works. Food was served family style and was excellent. Went home with leftovers! Would definitely go back!
We love it! Great food and great service! Love the family style portions.
We have been here before and loved it each time. I went with 5 girlfriends after the Radio City Music Hall Christmas show and the food was excellent. We got the mixed salad and 3 entrees to share: chicken parmigiana, chicken saltimbocca and penne alla vodka. We had leftovers of the chicken parm and the penne pasta which 2 of us took home for a great lunch the next day.
The place take us to an old New York!!! Very beautiful!
Such a good experience me and my mum had at this place! Food was amazing and came in huge portions. So impressed that they can still make amazing food with so many people ordering at the same time! Can't wait to return!
My go to place when I'm in the city. Great food at affordable prices (for NYC) and I love family style as it makes for a nice lunch the next day. I recommend it!!
Carmine's has been a family treat for well over 15 years. Food and service is always great and family looks forward to this as much as seeing the Christmas show. Would highly suggest this to any family visiting NYC for any outing.
Service great! Worth the trip just for the Carmine's salad! Always a good NY stop!
Best canollis in New York. In my opinion better than Carlos Bakery... just sayin. It must be the pistacchios.
Everything is fantastic, the energy, service, family style meals! Lamb chop special is a must try. Drinks are also very generous.
My husband had eaten there before and loved it. Since he had such a great experience we made reservations next time we were in NYC and invited some friends. We had a great time and the food was delicious. I highly recommend it. Best to book way ahead of time because it is very popular.
Carmine's is everything that is good about fine dining and NYC. It was my friend's 18th anniversary and their first time in NYC. They were amazed by the aroma and originality of everything they saw served. They cannot stop talking about it and commented it was even more fabulous than they ever could've imagined. Carmine's is worth every penny.
We always make it a point to have a meal at Carmine's when in NYC. Convenient location in the Theater district. Would strongly advise making a reservation, as waiting times can be over an hour at certain times of the day. The manicotti is outstanding, as is the rigatoni. Family size portions, so one order can usually serve two. The prices are very reasonable and the noise level is what you would expect for a restaurant this large. Definitely recommend Carmine's.
great proximity to hotel; good food at reasonable prices; fast and friendly service; very clean linens; fits the bill for our NYC holiday sojourn at Christmas!
table size too small for a party of 5; we were sat at a table for 4 and had no room to move at all.
Group of five for a birthday lunch before the theater. Worked well. We shared an order of salad, lasagna and linguini with meatballs. Which came out as spaghetti and meatballs. Ehhh ..
Amazing food...generous portions....wonderful wait staff...great time!!!
This was a perfect place to gather friends before the theatre for a nice luncheon! Everyone enjoyed the selections and service.
We go into NYC every Christmas, and Carmine's is part of that wonderful tradition. I LOVE this place.
This was an amazing holiday experience from the ambience, wait staff & food. I brought my sister to NY for her 50th birthday & this was the highlight of her trip. Great decorations, music, customer service & the Chicken Scallopinr was the best!
We had reservations for 2:30 PM on a Friday for 8 people. We arrived and were quickly sent to our table. The place is very vibrant and an energetic type atmosphere. Our waitress was very prompt and service was EXCELLENT. Every table was booked. Our waitress took the time to explain the specials and also helped us understand how to order. The portion sizes are HUGE. Try the zucchini sticks! They are fabulous!! One plate of those fed all 8 of us and still had some left over. We also ordered the lasagna and tried the a chicken dish with spinach, capers and a light sauce over the top. Both dishes were HUGE portion sizes and we all ate until we couldn't hold any more food. One of the best places to eat in NYC. I would definitely recommend giving Carmines a try if you have a large group.
We had such a great Lunch. It was my Birthday. The food and service was outstanding
Excellent experience as always. The waiter Edwin was awesome and we were very pleased that we got seated so quickly especially since we were late for our reservation due to heavy traffic.
Very disappointed, very noisy, terrible service - waitress did not know how to make a drink - had to change waiters. Toldl us there was an individual menu you could order off of - but they did not have it. Told us they could split a check up to 14 ways - but was unable to because 'they don't have the right system'. Food passable.\nWill not be back.
Lots of food for four tied texas women!!! The waiter was extremely helpful and was knowledgeable in the menu!! Most of NY serves small helpings!! But this place was made for us texas girls!!!
Service was terrible- server had zero personality and no opinion to offer on anything- seemed more interested in watching the tv that was in the upstairs area- food was mediocre at best! Was probably my last time there!
Great pst theatre dinner, my friends thought it was late in the evening but the service, food, and ambiance made a big night in The City!
Great family style portions. Must share with others. Food was excellent.
We've tried to get into Carmines in Times Square several times. It is always too busy. Reservation at dinner is almost impossible. I booked a mid afternoon reservation one month in advance. Food was great. Portions are huge but you are paying for it. They use real garlic which I love. Rigatoni with broccoli and sausage in red sauce was awesome.
The food is wonderful. The service is great. The drinks are pricey
Never disappointed here - great staff, great food, fun atmosphere - all around win !!!
Great food but our server was very rude to us. Even other diners noticed.
Great experience for last night in NYC. Big portions with family-style servings...don't order too much food! My husband and I shared a lasagna, got a salad, and dessert...and it all could have fed our whole family had they been there! Great ambiance...would go again. Great atmosphere for the holidays. Pricey, but meals feed a lot of people.
We have been coming down for the last 9 yrs for thankgivings or the Ist weekend the Christmas tree is lite at Rockafeller centre, It would not be the same without a lunch at Carmine's. We love the food it's like getting together at families house ,all the great home food and family portions. To us it's the best restaurant and food in Nyc.
A must go when in NYC! Get the lasagne and red sangria!!
One of the most rude wait staff I have ever experienced. Food was ok. Will not be at the top of my food list for NYC
We are in NYC on a holiday trip with friends and wanted them to experience Carmine's. Needless to say, we had a great experience--hostess seated us upon arrival and we were greeted by an excellent server who ensured a wonderful early dinner! Good potions were very generous and we all 4 shared a salad and an entree which was more than enough for all of us. We will be back!
Great as always. We go to Carmine's first every time we go to the city.
Excellent restaurant. Great Christmas vibes. Exceptional waitress service and friendliness. The food is very good and as for portion size...just go and see for yourself
Our waiter Paul M was fantastic. He had so much personality and gave the appearance he really liked his job. That is such a plus these days. All his recommendations were spot on and made our dining experience great. We love everything and didn't want to leave!!
Food was great and the service was excellent. I will definitely bring my family back.
This was my first visit to Carmine's. I will go back there in a heartbeat, given the chance. They accommodated our large group of 11 people, including 4 kids. Due to the weather, we called to see if our reservation could be moved up 1 hour and they took us with no problem. The staff was kind and tolerant of our young kids. The location is great, close to many theaters, Time Square, and Rockefeller Center. Now for the FOOD..... it's delicious!!!! For 11 of us, we ordered 3 kids meals, 4 entrees, and an appetizer. It was more than enough food, and we had some to take home. The food was so tasty that we took it home to Delaware!
The service the food the staff was absolutely amazing the abundant food portions were unbelievably delicious will go back again. Thank you for wonderful birthday
Delicious food, reasonable wait time with a reservation and a variety of choices. Come hungry and plan to share because the portions are family style. If you can, make a reservation toake sure you get a table. Worth the trip!
Just good food, drinks, atmosphere! Always a good time!
We come here often the food and restaurant is always outstanding. The service is not the best as far as waiters.
A visit to Carmine's is always a treat. I'm especially fond of the Misti Salad w/ dried cranberries, walnuts and slices of apples and pears, and the Penne A La Vodka. Deeee-lish! But this visit left me disappointed. I wish our server would have taken the initiative to inform us of the day's lunch specials without us having to ask. Even more, I wish she would have made us aware that our choices were available in smaller, lunch-size portions. Not only would that have given us greater value; it would have spared us the inconvenience of schlepping left-overs to the theater and around town. Kudos to the kitchen; but a Bronx cheer (a big boo) to the training department for not prompting the wait staff to be more proactive, helpful and courteous.
Amazing food and drinks look forward on coming back.great staff
Love Carmines my only suggestion is to offer plastic kid cups with lids for children when they get drinks !
Arrived 10 minutes late but was still seated right away. Waitress looked like she was getting ready to leave which she did as her shift ended so we were never told what if any specials they had that night. Passed off to Paul are next waiter who seemed to care less. We had stuffed artichoke for the appetizer, which was very good. For the entree we had ravioli. They were between warm and cold. I should have complained but just told our waiter and he just shrugged his shoulders and off he went. Have eaten at Carmines many times and I can say that it was our last time.
Huge Portions! Eggplant Parmigiano appetizer and mixed seafood pasta were excellent.\nReally enjoyed the white Sangria. \nWaitress was a gem, suggestions were very helpful.
Nice family-style restaurant portions are huge. A bit pricey but must try it.
The meatballs are amazing!
My second time eating here and I was NOT disappointed. Seating- Perfect and Friendly. Wait staff was like clockwork antipated every need. Food came out quick. The food is the BEST ever. I've not been to Italy but to me in NYC the best!!. Portions are so large you'll have leftovers for at home to dine on and just remember the experience OMG!!! Lasagna, Shrimp Scampi, Calamari, Caesar Salad and Chocolate Cannoli..mummmmm. Make it a point to not leave NYC before dining at Carmine's \n#fanforlife
I ask the price for the ribeye told me 38.00 then it came out 95.00 I had gone the one in Nassau and was much better
A great NY classic! Christmas decorations were up so the restaurant was very festive! Our meal was excellent and we'll continue to make this our annual stop when we are in town!
Carmine's never disappoints - good food (family style) , good drinks, nice time!
I go to NYC yearly. When I do, I ALWAYS go to Carmine's for lunch/dinner. Have been going there for at least 20 years. I love the food, ambiance and service. My husband is from Brooklyn and he always talked/recommended Carmine's and we've been going ever since. We have gone on our own, with a few couples, with family and most of the time with bus loads of family/friends. Ate at tables and many times, at the bar with like 12-16 people and always have had good service.\nThis past weekend, our waitress was awesome- friendly, good service! \nBeen to many restaurants in NYC and many are good but Carmine's is my favorite!!! The BEST!!!\nSandy Conway\nMeriden, CT
It was the Birthday of my wife. We enjoyed the Neal
The place was beautiful but the sirvice was terrible and even by making an appointment I still have to wait for my table, my waiter didn't explain much and was very pushy as well as in a rush and didn't explain much or greet the people at the table, I really wish the service could've been as nice as i'd hope for it to be.
Was not happy with the food . I live on Long Island ,there are much better restaurants, with out the name . Steves Piccolo busula, Don Pepe's and many others. The baked manicotti was horrible.
Our reservation was honored pretty close to reserved time. Food was outstanding.
My family absolutely loves Carmines for years. We recently moved out of NY to PA and still make a point of eating here when we are in town; especially Christmas time.
My favorite place to eat when I visit NYC and D.C. I also recommend and bring others to Carmines.
When we book tickets to New York we immediately follow it with a reservation at carmines we know we will eat well and enjoy the experience see you again next year !
The food was delicious and the family style portions were huge! We were seated at a round table in the left corner, which allowed for excellent people watching. The 44th street location is quite large, but the service was efficient. We arrived at 10:30 pm and had a reservation; there were many people waiting. We saw people being seated until we left at midnight. Overall, delicious & well run!
Had lunch here and all of the food was excellent. Very good Italian food and a fun, festive environment.
Bolognese/pasta was better than expected. The calamari was excellent as well. Big portions but our family of four (11 and 9 yo) were able to eat most of it! Definitely need reservations or expect to wait a looong time
Enjoyed the family style dining with huge portions. The eggplant parm was delicious. We took food home to enjoy later. The kids enjoyed the meal as well. We couldn't convince them to eat squid. Noisy but we were able to converse with little difficulty
The restaurants staff was incredible! Very friendly. The cleanliness of our silverware and drinking glasses, however, was awful! Both me and my wife had dirty forks when we started our meal, (there was an entire grain of rice in my wife's fork!) and the replacement silverware was also not clean. My glass of water had food particles floating on the bottom of it when the waitress brought it out, and we ended up asking for take-out cutlery. The manager gave us a complimentary desert, but even that came to the table with spoons that had food residue on it already! The restaurant was otherwise great. Huge portions of food per person, Very delicious meal, but kind of hard to enjoy with dirty dishes.
This was a special meal as my family was together for Thanksgiving and decided to spend Friday in NYC as my daughter-in-laws dad had never been to NYC. One of my brothers and one of my daughter's friends who lives in NYC joined us. I love Carmines. I tend to be in NYC with just one other person and their family portions are huge so it is a great restaurant for a group. We were seated on time and there was ample room for all of us at our table. The food was served promptly and we were not rushed, ample time between appetizers and entrees. We were too full for dessert. Our food was delicious. Our waiter could have been more attentive but it was packed. The only complaint is that my son ordered a beer that was not delivered. I had leftovers for dinner last night and would definitely go back again.
Sat our group of 11 early but in a back location against a wall. Good food and service. Bathroom on upper level was an issue and line unpleasantly long due to service issue. Dessert good. Didn't rush us. Would go back again but request a seating location if possible.
Brilliant food and service , first time in New York and by god these guys made it extra special thank you so much . From David Tulloch all the way from Scotland.
Great service and fabulous food for a very good price . Cozy atmosphere and decor. was there on 11/26 for pre show lunch. Was able to arrive early and stay as long as we wanted. No one was pushing us to finish and leave. Was my second time there and will definitely go back again!
Great for groups, delicious meals to share. Highly suggest making reservations.
Delicious food and excellent service! Homestyle Italian food was amazing!
We traveled front Maryland, and Carmine's was a must! I have been the location before and just visited the location in the Bahamas. I wanted my husband to have the Carmine's experience! Our food was fabulous and we are planning to visit the location D.C.! \n\nI would recommend making a reservation prior to your visit. We made a reservation and within ten minutes of sitting down, every table was filled.
We've eaten at various Carmine's now, but 3 times at this particular location in Manhattans theater district and each time has been wonderful and delicious. The staff is great, the atmosphere friendly and good out of this world.
Excellent Italian food and attention. Big plates and the pasta is always ' al dente'. I strongly recommend the spaghetti with meat balls.
We go to Carmine's a couple of times a year. This year we were a little disappointed. We always get the Carmine's salad, this time it was served on what seemed a smaller plate, had mostly greens, some winter tomatoes, one (1) olive, two (2) peppers, a small amount of meat (diced so small it was unrecognizable) and diced cheese. Next time we will pass on salad. The calamari, chicken with lemon & butter and the ragu were as good as usual.
Always a delight!
Have been to Carmine's multiple times and this is the only time I've been disappointed. Food wasn't up to par. We ordered our favorite pasta dish- rigatoni and broccoli in white sauce - and pasta was undercooked, more than just al dente. Chicken parm was disappointing with extremely thin cutlets and too much breading. Tiramisu was good as was the fried zucchini . Service was ok but kind of rushed and not the attention given as in past visits. \nHoping this was just an off day or will have to cross this restaurant off our list.
The food was excellent! Great location near the broadway shows! Great place for parties!
Lunch before show with extended family over busy holiday weekend. Were seated promptly but took some time for server to arrive at the table. She was not very enthusiastic and very slow with drinks throughout entire dining experience. That said, we were very surprised how good the food was from starters to dessert. Loved the family style! Christmas decorations was festive and fun! Will return for sure....just hope our service is better.
Favorite restaurant in the world. Only wish could get smaller portions to allow more variety.
Food was excellent but one person in our group did not like that the ribs of the lettuce were left in the salad. It was very loud and crowded. We had to stand smashed up against people's tables while they were eating in bar area with constant traffic of customers and servers walking by. There was just no good place to wait and be out of the way. Service from all staff was impeccable. Beautifully decorated for the holidays. Will definitely dine here again!
The server's helpfulness and the quality/quantity of the food made the evening superb.
Great service and food for our family of 4, only negative the table next to us we're so loud...and the F word was used every other sentence! ð³
They were wonderful even on crazy black friday! Great waitstaff, super friendly and gave us no attitude when three small eaters only ordered one entree, Thanks!\n\nLA
Classic, over-the-top, New York dining, perfect for groups and families celebrating a special occasion and obviously catering to Broadway theater-goers (either pre- or post-show). Entrees are pricey, but portions are family-style- 3-4 people can easily share one plate and be more than satisfied, so prices are really quite affordable- and the traditional Italian offerings are delicious and hearty. Service is friendly and terrific. If you are looking for an intimate dining experience, this would probably not be the right choice because of the bustling, busy atmosphere- but otherwise, this is a perfect place for a memorable evening out in Manhattan!
Every time we come to NYC (usually once a year) we go to Carmine´s for at least a lunch or dinner. The menu is quite extensive and interesting, and almost all the items on the menu are family size, good enough to 3 people a minimum. This is a very busy restaurant, so reservations must be done. Our staff was helpful and pleasant, and we ordered the shrimp parmigiana, which was amazing.
This is our family's favorite restaurant when in the city. The food is amazing and the value great. We love family style eating!!
One of my favorite places to take my wife. Food is great!!Highly recommended!
Carmine's was the perfect selection for our family before Matilda. Great service and wonderful food.
It was our first night in New York and it was a great experience. Food was great! Very big portions!
- Despite having reservations and with a child in tow, we were kept waiting for a table for upwards of 30-minutes.\n- The waiter seemed blasé and did not care to provide us with the children's menu option.\n- The food runner couldn't have been more unpleasant in the way he first shoved the dishes on our table and then proceeded to mouth off at us as he walked away from the table.\n- The manager who dealt with our complaint regarding the food runner seemed uninterested and offered us only cursory apologies.\n- What was meant to be a lovely post-Broadway show family experience was ruined by notably bad service. \n- We're New Yorkers, we have a high tolerance for a lot of things, and we've eaten at Carmine's before but what we experienced this last visit was exceptionally bad.\n- The food was good but I would recommend that people stay clear of Carmine's until the floor staff can match the quality of the food the kitchen is turning out, and someone in-house reminds them of the legacy of the place and re-establishes the family-friendly service and atmosphere it used to be famous for.
Made a reservation on Open Table and was pleasantly surprised to get seated right away. The Open Table app made that extremely convenient. There were 4 adults in our group. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, which was fantastic and the portion was huge. Then linguine, meatballs, and veal parm for the main course. Food was excellent, as expected. Plenty of leftovers to take home.
Excellent food and good service.
You cannot go wrong. Excellent food service and atmosphere
Fun after show place!!
We ate for Thanksgiving and were never explained the Thanksgiving meal or amount of food or price. It was only 2 women & a child and it could have easily fed 12 people. Unfortunate waste of food. We did hand it out to the homeless but the waitress was not happy about boxing it up, so she kept one for herself.
Carmines was very accommodating once we arrived and they nicely agreed to seat our party of 11 together even though I had booked three separate tables online cause couldn't find a reservation for 11 all together. Hostess was very accommodating which was greatly appreciated. Food was good and a ton of food. Definitely didn't walk away hungry. Great place for large family outings.
Serving was perfect. Food was outstanding. Food came out really fast and me and my wife really enjoyed the time at Carmine's
As advertised, well prepared red sauce food in 4-6 people portions (the chicken parm was a little small) and always leave with leftovers. A great place for large groups (we were 8) to allow sampling more dishes.
Food was terrific as always. Delicious baked clams and linguini with white clam sauce. Lunch menu pricy but more than enough for two to share. Overpriced soft drinks ( $3.95 ) and strawberry lemonade $5.50 is over the top for non alcoholic drinks
A fun place in NYC. Gigantic portions! Good thing we had a reservation for 5:00. Otherwise the wait was 1 hr 45 min.
Best Italian food outside of Italy . We had simple spaghetti and chicken Parmesan. They were gourmet. Pasta cooked al dente. Nice and chewy. Will be back.
We used open table and waited maybe three minutes for a table. Other guests waited close to an hour. Terrific atmosphere, huge portions so eat here with lots of friends who can all split the food and check!!!
Great spot close to Times Square! Prepare yourself to feast on the family-style portions!
Great atmosphere and awesome food. Just make your now to only order one entree for 2 people. Plenty of food to go around. Love eating at Carmine's when out of town.
It's an annual event for us to enjoy Carmines while in NYC. This year I was sadly disappointed with the service. We were seated by the hostess stand and we had to hear curse words while one employee shared his work experience with others. This happened at least three times while we were eating. The young lady waiting on us was not attentive but she eventually handed off to Yuri who was great. I will return it will make sure we are seated differently next time.
Great food, but very expensive for pasta. Each serving is good for 2-3 people.
Excellent service and food!
We didn't realize that the portions were so large and meant for sharing. We were a table of three females and ordered one salad and one pasta with way too much left over. Would prefer individual ordering and more entree descriptions on the menu. Overall a disappointing dining experience.
No one walks away hungry at this place and the food arrives nice and hot. The noise level was a bit over the top but it was 4th of July weekend.
Excellent food! Massive portions. Love it!
Very disappointed in our Carmine's experience.\nWe went to the one in Washington, DC in June, and it was great. \nNYC location this week was very disappointing.\n\nOur server was not attentive and we constantly had to look for him. Ran out of water and drinks, multiple times. Could not even get a glass of ice we requested. Did not come back and check on us, until after we were halfway finished with our meal. \n \nAs soon as he got seated with another table, that purchased alcohol, he paid little attention to us again.\n\nThe food was alright. Nothing exciting here. I just expected much better for a NYC restaurant.
We've been to Carmine's several times in the last 8 years. This experience was awful. The food was mediocre and our service was terrible. Not only was our server inattentive, she was complete rude and even argued with us about her mistakes. We would have complained but no one (including the server and manager) ever stopped by to see if we were enjoying our meal. We won't be back.
The whole experience was Great. The wait time was minimal (we were 20 min early)for our reservation. We grabbed a drink at the bar and we were called 10 to 15 min later. Our waiter was spot on and helpful. He answered every question we had and helped us order. Thank you Erick K
We dined at Carmines off Broadway after experiencing a Broadway show. The food is Italian Family style portions. The food quality and service were great. The ambiance was energetic and good for a group/family dinner.
We absolutely LOVE Carmine's!!!!
Food was excellent as always. Only down part was the waitress was not the most pleasant or attentive.
An amazing dining experience for all from the decor to the food and service worth the trip from Long Island just to dine.....
Food and service incredible. Bartender was talkative and nice. Good drinks!
Excellent lunch. Great service. Food was awesome. We were all happy. Party of 12. Celebrating 2 anniversaries. Thanksgiving. Going to a play. Had a lot of fun. Glad we made a reservation in advance.
It's a loud environment but I knew that going in. Great atmosphere. Great food and great service. Been there about a dozen times and can't wait to go back.
Always fun to eat at Carmines. Good food in a vibrant, happy place.
We came in town from KCKS for food, fun and play. We happily got all three and Carmines did not disappoint us. We will see you again when we return to NYC.
It was great ! Congratulations .
It was our second time in carmine's and we had a wonderful experience . The meatballs was amazing .
A little crammed but food was amazing and service was superb!
We haven't been to Carmine's for a few years, so it was really nice to go back. We had a group of 5 which was perfect for the family-style food. We ordered the Carmine's salad which we couldn't even finish and then a pasta dish and veal parm. We were stuffed. The veal parm was excellent as well as the pasta. Our waiter, although busy, was informative and attentive. We would definitely go back, but only if we have 4 or more people. It doesn't really pay to go for just two people unless you can take food home.
Went after seeing the Phantom matinee. Reservation was for 5:30, but they seated early per my request. We had the Cesar salad, chicken parm and rigatoni with shrimp in a white sauce. The salad crisp and well dressed. The chicken parm and rigatoni were both exceptional. Great end to a great day!
had lunch with 7 friends and family...very good we will go back
Large sharing portions. A tad noisy but a nice evening, good service and tasty food. Not romantic but more festive.
Pricy, good pasta, looks like homemade. Noisy but well separated tables. Bad service. When asked for a recommendation, the attendant in a bad mood said 'if you have been here before, you know what to order'.
Carmine's on 44th really has the best authentic Italian food in the midtown area. The portions are HUGE so be prepared to share with your table and still take some food home afterwards.
I have dined at Carmine's numorous times. This time was just as good as all our\nother times. Food was wonderful. Server was efficent but businesslike. I am sure we\nwill be back again.
Always great to come here when visiting NYC. I always go here before going to see a Broadway play.
good food but way too crowded. Food came out quickly however one of the orders was incorrect.
Always a crowded spot, would not recommend showing up without a reservation. \nOnce you get a table the service is paced very well; even though tables are in high demand you do not feel rushed, and you can settle in for a leisurely meal. Food is traditional Italian American cuisine served family style and Very Good. Chicken Parm, meatballs with rigatoni, ravioli all delicious. Clam appetizer in an herb broth will have you ordering extra bread for dunking.\nCheesecake is very good too! \nDon't expect FooFoo high end Italian; this is solid, traditional, delicious food!
The food was delicious and the service was fabulous
Even though most New Yorkers would consider this restaurant to be somewhat of a tourist trap . You would be doing yourself a huge injustice by missing out on some great Italian food.\nI would say reservations are a must.
We have been to Carmine's before - on another trip to NYC - and we made it a priority to come eat here again! Delicious spaghetti and meatballs - huge portions! We had three in our party and the family sized serving would have easily served 5 hungry people. Great atmosphere - make reservations on Open Table.
I love to go to this place when I visit NYC. They have awesome family style Italian. I have only ever been with a group of 5 or 6 & it's perfect for a large group. You can order 2 or 3 things & it feeds everyone. I LOVE their shrimp scampi & get it with angel hair that soaks up all the yummy buttery sauce. The porter house steak is awesome too, as is the lasagne.
We have been to Carmine's many times, and recognize it is a busy, fast paced restaurant which requires waiters to multi task and hustle. Nevertheless, we usually have received very good service despite the business. Not this time! Our waiter gave terrible service, ignoring us and constantly making us wait for his minimal attention. We believe it could be because we did not order drinks/bar tab in the beginning; however, we planned on ordering lots of dessert, fancy coffee drinks, and perhaps after dinner drinks. Unfortunately we decided to go elsewhere for those items after waiting a ridiculously long time for our waiter to return to our table. When telling him of our disappointment with the wait and that we needed the check, his response was very cavalier and barely apologetic. Not a good representative of the restaurant's philosophy. Not sure we want to go back to Carmine's---perhaps its time to try some new places in the city. Staffing and service matter---just as much as the quality of food. So many places in NYC that would be happy to have our business!
Carmine's was recommended to me some time ago by a person on the bus I take to NY from Baltimore. She raved about the food and said she goes there every time she visits NYC. \nShe was so right! My 4 sisters and I went to NY last Sunday to see the play, Waitress. I made the reservations for Carmine's even though the prices seemed high on the menu that was on line. I was so happy to find out that the portions served 3 to 4 people, so the prices were extremely reasonable for a good restaurant in the heart of the theater district. We ordered 4 different dishes for the 5 of us to share and had so much food left over. The eggplant and meat balls were the biggest hit and the tiramisu for dessert was the absolute best we have ever had! The waiters were so friendly and helpful too. I would highly recommend Carmine's and will be returning there on my next trip to NY for sure!
We were seated right away, efficient friendly staff. Food is fresh, hot, and delicious. Generous portions. I wish we had room for dessert!
So incredibly thankful that a person with celiac, a severe autoimmune to gluten, can safely and enjoyably dine at this wonderful Italian family style restaurant! We dine here every NYC trip and love the food, ambiance, and service!
Service was excellent along with great food. Love the portions for family style dining.
Efficient service for pre theater dinner. Our only complaint is the servings are designed for groups or families. If you can take leftovers home, you can dine as a couple. If not, you will waste some delicious food. Reasonable prices, delicious food, and friendly service make this a great place to eat. Just be ready for large servings!
Everything excellent, food is the best of all. I'd suggest wine should be server in a wine glass not in a regular water glass.
I go to NYC every Fall with friends. We stay for a few nights but ALWAYS go to Carmines at least once while there. LOVE THEIR FOOD. And the drinks are great too. SO much food and everything I have tried has been fantastic.\nThis time, we were just in for a play but because our friends were Italian, we went here. They agreedâ¦.a must go toâ¦..
Fantastic atmosphere and really good food! Don't pass on the clams!
Food as always was great. Big portion and very taste.
LOVED IT! Our friends said it would be the best place for our daughter\ns sweet 16 dinner while we visited the city. It was fabulous and delicious! Thank you! We WILL be back and WILL recommend you to everyone!
I guess Carmines is a popular and famous restaurant. I made a reservation early in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon was the only time available. The menu was interesting and the food was fine, but not exceptional. Great location and service though.
Carmine's (either uptown or in Times Square) will never let you down - great food, great price and ample portions. Just make sure you have a reservation or you won't get in.
Absolutely love this place! You must make reservations if you want seating on the weekends!
Carmine's is really the go to place for a great meal at an incredible value in NYC. Prompt service and delicious food are always the standard at Carmine's.
My wife's favorite NYC restaurant. Food is always good.
Great place a must visit.... Still full from my dinner. Best restaurant Caesar Salad I've ever had
I love Carmine's on 44th Street! It's the first reservation I make when planning trips to NYC. Plenty of good food. Family style platters are great for sharing with small and large groups. It's our family tradition prior to or after a show on Broadway.
Unfortunately our service is what ruined this experience. We had plans so we didn't stay very long, but our waiter was very rude when we did not order more dishes that we would never have been able to eat. After I refused to order more than we needed, he became unattentive, rude, and difficult to find. \nThe food was ok. But not worth the subpar waitstaff.
We come here all the time. Unfortunately this visit seem to be a little worse than usual. The salad tasted like it had been frozen and the pastor was just mediocre. Hopefully this was just one off day
The food was on point. Very authentic, family friendly. Would definitely go back. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Italian food!
Outstanding food, great service, reasonable price for NYC, in time square area and near the theatres.\n\nVery nice night out.
We visit NY and Carmines was recommend. The food was delicious we had penne a la vodka, chicken a la romana and veal Marsala. For appetizer we ordered the calamari which was outstanding. One of the best Italian restaurants I have visited.
Great food and great wine. Bottle of wine and great pasta ran me little less than $100.....well worth it!
Excellent experience. Matt was outstanding!
This was a great pre theatre experience. The italian food was authentic and mouth watering. ThE rigatoni and chicken cutlet was amazing and the balsamic greens with apple walnuts gorgonzola and red onions was delicious. We will definitely be back when we come back to New York again.
Great food and ambiance.
Server was very mindful of making sure we get to our play on time.
Always go to Carmines when in NY. Helps to make reservations. Consistently fantastic with each visit.
Over priced too large even for large portions.
Awesome family style Italian food. Big portions. You will not leave hungry.
the ambience is very energetic...the service was excellent...we asked our waitress questions about the area, and she was great in giving us the lowdown on the best places to go, fastest ways to reach destinations, etc. All in all service staff was very attentive and cordial. Portions of food were enormous...great for a gathering of friends and a great value. Our only complaint was that the food(chicken) was at the very most lukewarm in temp, and not very flavorful. All in all, the energy and history of Carmine's were a treat despite the very average meal.
Once more the dinner was wonderful!!
Always get great service and food here. Happy anytime we come. Thanks Carmines!
When your Mom says, 'You have to go to Carmines when you are in NYC.' You go because you want to keep Mom happy. In the future I will go to yield to my stomach's call
Love Carmine's!!!! Our favorite place to visit when we're in the city.
Great! Place, food, service!\nGreat moments with my family in my birthday!
We have been to Carmine's a number of times. When we were there last week we were not disappointed. We ate dinner at the bar after a show. Service was great, food was great traditional italian in HUGE portions. Lot's of lively conversation with 'new friends'. A fun place to eat.
The food was absolutely delicious! The wait staff was incredible!
This was the best Italian food I've ever eaten. We ordered the shrimp scampi and age hair pasta and let me just say wow! Loved the family style serving also.
The food at Carmine's is phenomenal! We enjoy it with every visit to NYC!
Good food, excellent service and great place!
We were a group of 8. Made reservations two days before. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Starting out, the bread basket is great, love the foccacia!! The mixed green salad was great and fed all 8 of us as a nice start to the meal. For dinner we ordered the shrimp with white sauce, porterhouse contadina and veal cutlet. They were all delicious, but the veal cutlet was out of this world! We enjoyed the porterhouse, but were disappointed we could not get the beef tenderloin entree which we enjoyed last time we visited and everyone loved! The food fed us all with too little food to take home, all for $33 each including tax and tip. It was a wonderful lunch, we will be back!!
Super good - just too much of it. Was a shame to have to leave half the meal. Recommend ordering one entre for at least 3 people.
As a family of 14 we have been coming to Carmine's for the past several years for lunch after Radio City Christmas show. Lunch has always been outstanding and staff was always friendly. Service was excellent and prices were very good. For and large family seating was more then comfortable and noise level was such that we were all able to carry on conversations at an acceptable level. I have recommended Carmine's to several of my friends and they all have enjoyed the atmosphere and food.
If you are looking for a lot of food with good prices that is the place....besides, it's around the theatre zone of broadway! Don't expect a fancy restaurant...
The food was amazing and plentiful we also liked that the waitress asked if we had time constraints in case we had a show to attend.
Outstanding dinner; superb service; congenial environment; moderate pricing. How can you go wrong?
We had a reservation and were seated shortly after arriving. I was there with my 2 teenage daughters and it was their first time. Bread arrived immediately after ordering and within minutes our entree came out. It was super quick service or rushed depending how you look at it. I had a 3pm reservation and a 5 o'clock show so it was perfect for me.
Over priced for spaghetti, meatballs and salad. But we like it there
I thought it was overrated. Several people recommended it. We had the lasagna and it was average. The service was bad and the place is a mess, crazy busy and super load.
Great food, great ambience, great service. There's nothing not to like about Carmine's! We went to NYC for a special trip and our time at Carmine's only enhanced our experience.
Carmine's is our favorite restaurant. We eat there all the time when we are in the city.
Had always heard about Carmines and had not visited. Our reservation was handled promptly and we were seated upon arrival. Our waiter was very friendly and accurately described the menu and made good suggestions. Food arrived quickly and was well prepared. Proportions were more than 2 people could eat and was well priced.
We loved eating at Carmines. Alex Baldwin recommended it and it did not disappoint. The portions are large and the food was authentic. Loved it!
Order the lasagna and steak. Lasagna was less than impressive as there was not a lot of flavor and I bit into a huge Bay leaf. Steak flavor was good but chewy. Not as great as everyone raves about it.
Family sized portions! Ate till i couldn't eat anymore! Pure italian cuisine, couldn't get anymore better then this!
Really enjoyed the family style dining where you share dinners. We had the chicken piccatta special with 4 large very tender chicken cutlets with lots of lemony-butter sauce, capers, potatoes, and spinach. We also had the shrimp fra d'avalo. Both excellent! Will be back!
Service was quick but not attentive. Food was fresh and excellent. Menu is fixed with slight variety in specials. Delicious! Everything is delicious! Stingy with butter.
Always enjoy Carmine's family style dining. Many choices, something for everyone. Good wine. Great for dining before a show or after a matinee. We dined before a show and the server asked specifically is we had a specific time we needed to be finished. Served at a nice pace and very pleasant staff. We love Carmines.
As usual, great for eating when in Times Square.\nGood price.
great food but way too much for only two people. much better when a group go together.. you only have one size portion and no two people can eat any one entree.. they are expensive and if you cant take it home or to a hotel that has cooking , you waste food and money.
The food was great except for the Hot Antipasto which was completely overcooked. By the way, I had a bad case of diarhea, which I think came from something in the Antipasto.
I've been dining at Carmines for over 20 years. Whether I've dined with large office groups, just myself and my wife or several family members, I've never been disappointed. Their bar is fun to sit at and people watch while you're waiting for a table. It's always an interesting and delicious experience.
As usual great food and good service at reasonable prices.
This is my first time come and will recommend this to everybody.
I always visit Carmine's in NYC - it's one of my favorite places to eat - great food and love the ambiance
We went to show then a group of 6 went...\nMy family and I enjoyed
Carmine's is always consistent in what it offers: large portions, good food, being a very loud and busy place, full of regulars and tourists. The chicken marsala and baked clams are especially good.
We fed five adults with two entrees and a salad for $134 including the tip! The food was over-the-top good. The bread was not as good as you would expect for this caliber of Italian restaurant but it was adequate. Service was impeccable. Thanks Chris!
The experience was great for friends visiting from Ohio! The family style dining was great! The lasagna and shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta was great, the chicken saltimbocca was not good at all! \n\nThe 'special' olive oil that's served upon request is OUTSTANDING!
Food is good. Not worth the cost for a couple. They should have half size portions for two.
We love this restaurant not only for the tastiness of their food but also the portion sizes. One meal can definitely feed 2 or more. The shrimp with pasta was excellent but did not leave us room for dessert. Will definitely be back next time we are in NYC.
As usual great food at great prices. Service OK. \nBest restaurant for groups.
Great for big parties and for pre show dinner.
It is a zoo! The place is crowded, loud and fast-paced. We enjoyed, but know it is not the right place for an intimate evening or business discussion. The food servings are ridiculously big so be careful on what you order. We would head back again for a casual dinner before or after theatre. Expect your share of tourists!
As soon as I know I am going to be in NYC, I Maur reservations at Carmines! It's hard to get a reservation, so book early! Our favorite spot!
Carmine's is a dining experience that everyone should try while in NYC.
Our server was excellent. He represented Carmines well. He knew menu and made great suggestions.
The best as always! Great service, delicious food and friendly atmosphere.
I come to Carmine's every time that I'm in New York. Waiters drive at a manic place but easily manage to satisfy their customers. The food is always great and you never leave hungry or in want. The desserts? Wow! The ambiance is traditional and not hoighty-toighty. The servings are more than generous... they're ginormous? Awesome seafood and pasta. I can't wait to return. I'm hungry now!
Food was excellent as always, however a side of sausages over done and dry. Egg plant parm was different than I've had there before. Flatter and less fullness, but still great flavor..
Good food. Big portions! Recommend to do reservations as this restaurant is always full.
The staff at Carmine's is superior. We enjoy visiting every chance we get- in New York and DC. Totally enjoyed the chicken parm and the great cocktails.
My family went to Carmine's before seeing a Broadway show on a Saturday night. Great location to the theaters! We had a reservation at 5:00pm, we arrived at 4:50pm and were seated very shortly. The wait for non reservations was 1 hour and 45 minutes so I was glad I made the reservation! The food was great, my husband and I shared the shrimp parmigiana over linguine. It is served family style and the portions were very generous. We brought home the leftovers. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs and she loved the meatballs! We brought her leftovers home as well and we all had our leftovers for dinner the next day. I highly recommend Carmine's!
I had a wonderful experience at Carmines. I bought my 20yr old daughter there to celebrate her birthday and the food was delicious. We drove down from Connecticut and arrived late for our reservation but we did call ahead. kindy we still we're accommodated with a table right away. Our waiter was friendly and the atmosphere was amazing.
Food as usual was very good and our server was very friendly and attentive. I gave a less than ideal rating on service overall as a busboy twice bumped into my wife (once literally knocking her into the wall) and, rather than apologizing, cursed at her. When we raised the issue with the man who indicated he was the manager, he was unsympathetic and rude. It marred what was otherwise a very fun evening with friends over some good food. We will try it again, as we do not want a few bad apples to spoil the bunch, but encourage management to speak to its staff as we won't be back if anything similar happens again.
Been there a number of times with everything fabulous. This time my boyfriend's meal came out 1st and mine 15 minutes later when he was finished eating. We told them upfront that we were each getting 2 different dishes and would not be sharing the 2 meals so they would know to bring them at the same time. When asking for an explanation after doing our due diligence upfront to ensure both came at the same time the reason was because we happen to order meals that came from separate kitchens, so their coordination to ensure simultaneous delivery of meals at the same time failed. Since it was a birthday celebration for both of our birthdays it was disappointing. I suggest anyone going to ask if meals are coming from separate kitchens and make a special request that they coordinate things to avoid it happening to you. This was the 1st time I had a poor experience there and everyone makes mistakes, so I would still go back because we quite like it and hopefully it was a one-off and not reflective of new staff, etc. that contributed to the cause.
Thank you for making our day very special. We did not expect your staff to take time from their busy day to sing Happy Birthday. What a special extra!
This restaurant is my new favorite find even tho it's been around for years and years. The food is delish, the waiters are friendly, the location is great and it's a fun place to go to. It's very upbeat . I would be very happy to recommend Carmine's! I've always been there with 4 or 6 people, so I'm not sure how good it would be for 2 people because there would definitely be leftovers, and if you're in town for the weekend, having leftovers might not be very convenient (delicious, but not convenient).
Carmines never disappoints - food is always the best!!
Delicious food, was visiting from Florida and a fried recommend it and I we are all very happy to have gone.
I first found this Restaurant mentioned on 'Open Table'. I then went online to their website and viewed their menu. They had two price points on their menu page 'family style' and what I assumed to be NON family style this the prices for some of their food and sandwiches were less than half the price. I made a reservation for (1) myself for a Saturday lunch, and after arriving on time and seated the waiter informed me that the menu was 'on the blackboard wall and that it was Family Style ONLY and that there weren't any portions served for a 'single' person'.. At that point the Nasty Manager came over and confirmed what the waiter told me. I then questioned the Manager as to why then were there SINGLE portion prices on your Website to which he replied...'well that is ONLY at our BAR AREA and ONLY DURING the week.I then replied' well if that is the case why isn't that CLEARLY STATED on your Website. I informed him that I took 2 buses and train to get to this Restaurant and that it was 'false advertising' as far as I was concerned!! \nSHAME ON YOU CARMINES'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carmine's is a long term favorite, but I was leading a Boy Scout trip to NYC for 39 scouts and parents. I needed a place that could serve large groups after a long day of walking and sightseeing. I got a reservation for 10 because the large group rooms were sold out already and we rolled the dice with getting some additional tables as walk-ins. We thought going at 5PM would be early enough to be ahead of the rush, but they were slammed. The manager, Steve, called over to their sister restaurant, Virgil's, and arranged for the rest of our group to eat there. He even personally walked me over to meet the host staff there. It was above and beyond on a very busy Saturday evening. Everyone was well fed and happy when we got back to camp. All of our food was excellent as usual and the service was great.
It is always a pleasure to eat at the Carmine's. I like very much the way things are there. I love the shrimp a parmediana and the wine list.
Good was excellent. Service was even better as they accommodated our move to a round table even though we squeezed in an extra person.
We were here a lot of times. Every time enjoying again. One of the best Italian food places in New York's . Always delicious and always fun to come back here to eat
We LOVE Carmine's! A NYC favorite and we never miss it when we visit from CA about twice a year? The waiters remember us and can bring me my favorite cocktail without even being told. Excellent and and really fun crowd. We always find ourselves in conversation with those next to us! If you haven't been - go!
We were actually seated early. The food was delicious, service was great!
As always a awesome night and awesome meal. Consistently great.
We met the executive chef, the food is always excellent we come once a year when we come into the city to see Radio City Spectacular Show.
Great food and friendly staff. Noise level is high but adds to the energetic environment.
Great food, great fun. Was excellent value for a family!
It was my boyfriend and i first time at carmines. it was a surprise dinner for his birthday we had an amazing time i will recommend this place to all my friends loved it
I get to Carmines about twice and year and it has never disappointed. The same high quality fabulous tasting each time. It's great!
Incredibly careless waitstaff. Had to ask for a spoon 3 times. Then forgot my drink order. The food is only fair. Pricey, but in fairness, obscenely large portions. Calamari sat under a heat lamp, so it came out greasy, stuffed artichokes undercooked, making them virtually impossible to eat. It's basically a tourist trap and they know they can make lots of money without cultivating regulars, so they get away with it.
We went here post NYC marathon. The portions are huge so be prepared to eat. Carmine's is very busy so be sure to make a reservation..it's worth it!
The food, served family-style, was surprisingly good and reasonably priced for a restaurant with a reputation for being a 'tourist trap'. There were four of us (all New Yorkers, by the way, a very tough crowd). Our main dishes were spaghetti and meatballs and eggplant parmesan. The meatballs were very light and tasty, the tomato sauce was thick and flavorful and the pasta was served al dente - perfection. The eggplant was wonderful as well. We ordered tiramisu for dessert and it was fantastic. All in all, we had a wonderful time at Carmine's. Order less than you think you'll need, and expect to take home leftovers anyway.
The food is very good and wine selections were great. I recommend you go with a group to get a better value.
Excellent food!!! Family style everything fresh! Will be back,
We have been here several times before. The food was very good. I miss the time when the Cesar Salad was made at your table from scratch but it was still very good. Service was good and food was delivered pretty quick.
Ambiance is beautiful food was delicious service is less than desire attitude mood unattended people
Amazing food & great service!
Can't say enough good things about Carmine's. Staff is friendly and helpful, food is excellent, location has the Times Square vibe, price is reasonable. The only negative, because of all this the place is too popular so we have to reserve weeks ahead. I could eat the seafood pasta dish every night.
Each time I eat here, I get amazed that it's just as good as I recall it in my imagination. Yes, it's noisy, bustling, and can be a bit pricy, but the food makes it all worth it. Trust the waitstaff to guide you on how many dishes to order. Hot antipasti, rigatoni giardiniere, and beef tenderloin special were all perfect. Wine list has good selection at many price points. Hostess was kind enough to notice a member of our party used a cane, so she took us upstairs to our table via freight elevator. Nice touch. Don't be put off by the noisy mob at the bar when you arrive at dinner time. It will be worth it when you get to your table. Fun pre-theatre experience.
Food was delicious but go with a crowd and be hungry!
Great Italian style family restaurant! Sure you could go to a run-of-the-mill chain but you are missing the boat. Carmine's was a unique dining experience in the heart of the Theatre/ Times Square area. My wife and I ordered the Penne Vodka and it was unreal! We had a reservation (thru Open Table) and were seated immediately on what looked like a pretty busy night.
Never had a bad meal at Carmine's. Food is fantastic and service is always great.
Very Nice, very good food and service in Times Square!
Great food and service. Table ready within 5 minutes of reservation time which was good considering how busy it was.\nWe didn't leave too much because having been before we didn't order too much!!
Great food & atmosphere. Portions are ernomous even when sharing. We ordered the seafood linguine, it was absolutely wonderful. We shall definitely go again if we visit New York.
I definitely would return. Very good value, good price and the dishes are giant and very tasty. I went with my husband after a stroll in Times Square. The location is great, near the theaters. The place is always full of people, so it is a little bit noisy. It is good to go pre or post theatres, or for a every day dinner or to celebrate some occasion with your family or friends.
Would recommend they have a special menu when it is a small party. Servings are for large groups. I would not recommend unless you want to take huge bags of food home.
Best Italian food I've had outside Rome... First experience was in Las Vegas. I had to try NY
The food is simple divine. The portions are huge because it's family style. My party of 6 ate and still had plenty to take home. If you are ever in the area this in one you must try.
Carmine 's have great customer service skills from the time you walk in, eat your meal until you exit. My sister and I went during lunch time. The restaurant was actually busy but that didn't stop our waiter from providing excellent customer service.
Not my first and not my last time visiting. My visit started out bad when they seated us upstairs in the walkway. Once I complained I was immediately sat in a comfortable table. Our meal was delicious as usual. But I have one other complaint; they served us our entree before we were finished our appetizer. The service could have been better but we always like eating their and hope they correct the situation for future patrons.
Great food in a fun atmosphere!! We will be back.
This was my second visit within 2 weeks! Spent 1st weekend in the city with hubby for a show and enjoyed lunch at Carmines with PLENTY OF LEFTOVER' S, to bring to our room for snacking later! Went to yet another show, with a girlfriend for her Birthday as a first for her as well as visit to Carmines and she could not believe her eyes! Service right on time. Sauce, omg! Veggie Lasagna outstanding. But please don't hesitate to order THE BEST PRIME RIB! Never had a bad meal here and look forward to spending yet another experience in 2 weeks when we return with ours kids for the Christmas Show! Thanks Carmines for always being on point!
Delicious food - reservation was met within 5 minutes - very nice waiter - reasonably priced but pretty noisey I guess that is part of the ambiance!
Carmine's was great helping us with our large party during very busy marathon weekend. We were seated quickly (with reservations), our server was friendly and suggested a few dishes. We loved everything we got. The lasagna was probably our favorite but it's a close call! We enjoyed our time at Carmine's and will return!
We went to Carmine's the last time we were in New York two years ago and had to make a point to come back. Was still craving their Artichokes appetizer and loved everything overall.\nGreat place and wish we had one in Toronto.
The food was delicious but the portions are huge and there were only two of us so a lot of food went wasted as we were unable to order smaller portions.
We love eating there. The food is great, we try something new every time we go.
Two words always - Loved it! Greeting at the door was wonderful, wait staff... multiple persons, wonderful, food - as usual was delicious... and reasonably priced.
Wonderful...as always! Delicious food, great value, excellent service!
We were a table of 8 who went to Carmine's to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. We have been to Carmine's in the past and enjoyed it. BUT we were very disappointed in it on Saturday, November 5, 2016.\n1. Prime Rib Special - It was VERY tough and raw. We requested Medium Rare but received raw. Even if it would have been cooked more, the cut of meat was VERY tough. Not your traditional Prime Rib which should melt in your mouth. \n2. Additionally, we were never told that the price of the Prime Rib Special was $95.00. Which was WAY too much for the quality and portion of the dish.\n3. Fried Calamari - The quality of this appetizer was poor. In comparison to other tables who ordered the Fried Calamari, ours was filled with more tentacles and tinier rings. Other tables' Fried Calamari orders looks more plump and lighter. Although the sauce was tasty.\n4. Penne Ala Vodka - Sauce was too salty.\n5. Table Bread - no oil or butter was offered with it.\n\nPlease note: The only dishes we were happy with was the Carmine's Salad, Chicken Parmesan dish and the desserts - Titanic and Tiramisu.\n\nNormally we don't like to complain, being as we've never had problems at Carmine's but for the price and because it was a special occasion, we were very disappointed in the dinner at Carmine's.
My children and I have eaten at Carmines every time we visit the city, the past dozen--plus years. It is our favorite place to go. Their food is incredible, and their service is impeccable.
Been going to Carmines for many years and was my favorite restaurant in NYC. The last few times the food quality has not been of the same quality. Most notable is the cut-back on flavor. Dishes feel as if they are prepared ahead and reheated. Portions are still generous but lack freshness and taste. Desserts (cheesecake and cannolis) tasted bland. I will have to rethink whether I would visit again or find a new favorite.
We were only two. Meals are for 3-4. Food was very good and wait staff great
Amazing as always! Never Disappoints! Our server was so nice and the food is always delicious!
Bring your appetite and wear an elastic waistband! I love this place â¤ï¸
For lunch, the price and the serving size is fine for 2 people. However the price and portion size for dinner would have been way too much for 2 people need at least a party of four.
Carmine's never disappoints. Delicious food. Great service. Tasty treats from the bar! Love Carmine's.
Go to Carmine's alot and always great food n service. Our server, Jocie was terrific and was her 1st day. Never would have known!!!
Excellent Italian food A true Times Square classic!!
