Went to Milos for pre theater meal. Usually they are well set up but the heat was not working on a 18 degree day so we were all freezing! We got there with plenty of time before the show but the main course took a very long time to come which was peculiar since they do this frequently and they were especially small portions in a Prix fixe. The staff was friendly and attentive but we've always heard excellent things about this restaurant and it was a huge disappointment.

Milos was recommended to me by one of my foodie friends. Being Foodies ourselves, and my boyfriend working in the hospitality industry, we notice more than most people do when dining out. That said, we felt the food was good, fresh and great quality. For the price point however, there could've been more attention to detail. There was no acidity added to any of our seafood dishes, which really made some of them taste like something was lacking. Particularly for how mild of a fish we got- the acidity was needed. Ordinarily, not a huge offense, but for a restaurant of this caliber, this is 101. \n\nWe were most offended by the service. It wasn't that it was bad, but more rushed. The exact same dish was recommended by our server to everyone in their section. Literally all 4 tables in a row were eating the same exact thing! There was no up-selling or appropriate suggestions made, based off of what we showed interest in. We felt like we could see the 'formula' of how the restaurant operates and ordinarily that is not a huge offense, but again at this price point there should be more finesse for the process and the wait staff should be more focused on the guests in front of them, and not turning the table to get more guests in. We wanted to wine and dine and be wined and dined, and Milos didn't offer that. \n\nI would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking to luxuriate and enjoy your dining experience.

Fabulous experience! My husband ate at the Vegas restaurant several months ago & recommended it to me. Great mediterranean decor, elegant but comfy. Seafood lovers delight... the night we went there were at least 15 different types of fresh fish, plus scallops, langoustines, lobster, prawns etc all on display on ice. The waiter takes his time explaining the different types of fish & options for preparation. Had the grilled octopus appetizer w/bean puree ...to die for! Yum! Definitely large enough to share. Great greek salad also huge. Stone crab claws & Balada fish with fresh veg were excellent as well! Great wine recommendation topped off one of my favorite meals in some time! Everything SOOO FRESH! The assistant manager Mira & everyone else were very attentive & helpful. Look forward to coming back again!! Highly recommend this Mediterranean restaurant ... food & decor are a refreshing change!!

This was our second visit and it was just as good, if not better, than the first. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The service is first class. A little on the expensive side but definitely felt as if it was worth it for our group. The fresh fish concept is an amazing experience...you have to visit to understand:)

I'm sorry to say we found Estiatorio Milos disappointing. Check-in was extremely chaotic. So many people were clamoring for attention that I had to be very assertive to not let later arrivals push in ahead of me. Not a good lead-in to what we hoped would be a relaxing meal. \n\nNoise level is something beyond energetic-- also not relaxing. Hard to have a conversation.\n\nAnd finally, we thought it was overpriced. We don't plan to go back.

I recommend this restaurant for the food. The food is always superior to almost any other restaurant. But on the evening I dined, the wait staff brought our main course before our appetizer was finished. I always hate that in restaurants and while I have encountered it in restaurants of average caliber, I do believe that the bill that I received and paid would have called for better service.

I will admit, I'm not much of a seafood fan, but my husband is. The food was nothing too special for the price. It was highly recommended that my husband have his fish prepared sashimi style...he got food poisoning several hours later! We have no way of knowing if it was the fish or something else, but it definitely left a bad impression. My shrimp was ordinary and not prepared in any special way...kind of bland. Overall we just thought it was average.

Andreas from Paros made our time very special with consistently fresh Greek food, even finding me my favorite Greek fish, tsipoura. Thank you for a great moschofilero and for great, attentive service. The ambience is a bit strange and the tables by the front entrance door always prove awkward, but it's still one of the best places for a seafood-based meal in the world.

Was seated twice in bad locations. First time near where the tables were bussed. Second time we were seated near what looked like an order station but actually turned out to be a location where the staff clanked and threw around dishes constantly. The waiter was very nice and the hostess offered to move us but by the time a table was available we were well into the meal and liked our waiter. I was looking forward to a special occasion time with my wife and after spending over $350 at this meal I left feeling that it was a giant rip off. The table they sat us at should not be used or it should at least have a division protecting the diner from the noise. Wait staff shared with us that the restaurant was aware of the problem for some time and that people complained all the time. I live near NYC and work in the city so I know what can be done with guest satisfaction, and it was not done in my experience. The restaurant has an energetic ambiance that we liked, but clanking of plates incessantly does not make for a very nice dining experience.

This lovely restaurant is centrally located for Restaurant week in NYC. It was my first time there and I was warmly greeted by the smiling staff who efficiently checked my coat and escorted me to my table. The room was well lit, draped in an airy white decor. An assortment of seafood was displayed in a tiered fashion. Nice white tablecloths, napkins and water glasses were already in place waiting for our dining pleasure. Warm cut bread was brought to the table, and olive oil was offered on a serving plate while the waiter cut fresh oregano directly from a potted herb plant which was a unique surprise. The Mediterranean Meze Plate with taramosalata, humus, tzatziki, spinach pie and greek olives was delicious for an appetizer. We enjoyed our fish entrees which included salmon. I would definitely go back again and enjoy their full menu. Service was excellent too.

Though I live nearby, I had never been here. Obviously, others are quite familiar with this great place as it was packed! Everything was excellent-food, service, menu options. I even loved the touch of clipping the fresh herbs into the oil, though without some smashing of the leaves, no herb flavor actually infused into the oil. We went during Restaurant Week and were very impressed with all the options on that special menu. We sampled both the beluga lentil and scallop appetizers and both were excellent. We both had the bream for the main course, which was simply prepared, perfectly cooked and delicious! This left room for the wonderful nut cake and lavender ice cream for dessert, quite a treat! We sat, we talked, we ate...it was a delightful meal and wonderful experience. I will definitely be back!

This restaurant is known for its fresh fish and, to a lesser extent, shellfish, and in this respect it never disappointed me. This time my wife and I went there before theatre and ordered from a fixed price menu. We still had a whole fish (dorade) and overall quality as were as value were very good. However, noise was terrible and crowds of people kept moving around the dining room almost touching some diners. That of course made the ambiance less than optimal. There are separate smaller sections, some with a good view of the main dining room, and I imagine sitting there would make dining experience more pleasant.

Stunning upscale interior - white-washed, sunlit, open and airy, you feel as though you have left NY and been transported to Greece when you enter. Friendly, efficient staff greeted us warmly and found us a table within 10 min despite our being very late for our lunch reservation. Had the prix fixe lunch which had plenty of options; opted for the grilled loup de mer which came perfectly cooked, so delicious I could eat this every single day (if only!). Our server, Jason, was knowledgeable, friendly and made us feel welcome. I honestly didn't want lunch to end, the ambiance was so lovely. We wound up staying past lunch service which we didn't realize until leaving - not once were we rushed in the slightest. As I told the manager who chatted with us briefly as we made our way out, it was my first time there but it will definitely not be my last!

The food at Milos is excellent. The fish is always great yet overpriced but you now that going in and it's totally ok. On Friday night, I ate at the bar with my date and I was very disappointed in the service. \n\nNormally, at a high-end restaurant that serves food at the bar, the bartender is knowledgeable about the menu and can be helpful...just like a floor server. Not here. Milos has had a female Russian bartender for as long as I have been going there (I have not been in couple years after going frequently in the past). So, I don't know if it's the same person or they like to hire cold blond Russian female bartenders. Let me just say for the record that she is awful. She knows nothing, offers nothing and is predictably cool and aloof. That may explain why only one other couple ate at the bar Friday night and the place was packed, as it always is.\n\nThe meal was $320+ no wine but a few drinks and to spend that kind of money and have a totally detached, uninterested server is very painful. I live and work in the area and I eat out almost every night, so there must be a reason why I have not been back there in a while. Her attitude and approach is not fixable...and I won't rush back any time soon. I can spend $320 bucks anywhere.

Milos is a restaurant where the beautiful people of NY gather. It's a beautiful place, crowded and noisy and full of life. I had made a mistake on my Open Table reservation and arrived to find I had made a reservation early in the morning for the next day. The young ladies at the check in desk were very kind and ended up finding a fantastic quiet table at the time I had requested; my bad for not looking more carefully. The food at Milos is quite simple: wonderful fresh fish and seafood, fresh salads, superb olive oil, great bread, a few simple side dishes. It's just very expensive; fish at $50 a pound is pricy, jumbo Spanish prawns at $95 a pound even more so (but they are good!). Our wait staff were wonderful, helpful, you go pick out the fish and they explained etc. You are not treated as another customer, and should not be at these prices. Just be prepared, but then go and enjoy.

I've gone to milos many times now. food of course is great. place is way too crowded--had to wait for my reservation and you can't get to the bar and there is barely a place to stand.\n\nits also cramped with tables too close together and it is hard to navigate your way to the men's room.\n\nits way too loud\n\nI've enjoyed it more in the summer when one can sit outside and actually have a conversation without screaming.\n\nbut the biggest reason I won't go again is I am tired of the prices. they are exorbitant. I split two appetizers with a friend, and we split a branzino. we of course had a bottle of wine at $120, plus another glass at the end of the meal. \n\nI didn't look at the bill but the branzino we split was 2 pounds. \n\nmy bill before tip was $500 for two, which means at least 600 post tip.\n\nto me, its just not worth it. \n\nbut the place is always packed, so I guess it doesn't matter to the owners. they must be minting money at those prices.

We all had different appetizers, but I thought that my crab cake, grilled shrimp and fava puree was the best. The second course was a Greek style tomato salad with feta cheese, olives and cucumber. It was delicious in its simplicity.\nFor our main course all of us had the grilled Mediterranean sea bream fish, which was perfect. The other choices were charboiled Colorado lamb chops or organic salmon. \nFor dessert I chose the walnut cake with honey lavender ice cream. I ate the ice cream, but took home the cake for a late snack. I highly recommend it. My friends had the seasonal fresh fruit plate and the sorbet, and they enjoyed their choices.\n\nThe service was outstanding all around. First time in Miami anout 6 months ago and now last night in New York City. \n\nWe were a table of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed the service, ambiance and especially the food. Everything was excellent, but you should be prepared for a huge check.\n\nApparently they are currently renovating their second floor level, but hats off to them for us not experiencing any

Having eaten here several times in the past I was looking forward to the meal. The Dorade was bland and barely warm. \n\nI fear it's become another fast food outlet for tourists.

Milos provides a consistently high quality product. A bit pricey but well worth the whole experience. It's noisy but reflects the fast paced beat of New York City. Hugely overpriced (prices are in a range of a two-three Michelin star restaurant) and overcrowded place; even though overall quality of seafood is reasonable, it does not come remotely close to far superior and similarly or less pricey restaurants in New York City in general and in the immediate neighborhood (like Marea); this is a tourist trap.

Initially I was annoyed and perturbed by how incredibly loud it was and that I had to shout often to be heard and because they seated the two of us -- my 22 year old daughter and my 50 year old self-- right next to the waiters station in a corner. I have often found that when a restaurant sees two women they have no concerns about placing them in this undesirable spot. However -- notwithstanding the clang of flatware and dishes, I soon came to appreciate this location as I realized it was considerably less noisy than the rest of the restaurant. Now for the food: we decided to order several appetizers and starters instead of any entrees. First the bread was stellar and the olive oil with fresh oregano added table side was top quality and irresistible. The Greek cerviche, Milo's Special zucchini tower and grilled octopus were similarly stunningly good. Forget about the Greek potatoes -- they're just nicely seasoned thick French fries-- nothing special. We had several glasses of delicious Greek white wine, but I can't recall the name of it (I think it was the 3rd down on the wine by glass list.) Although we wanted to try desert, we were stuffed as the portions were wonderfully generous. Also notable was the attentiveness of our particular waiter as well as the other attending wait staff. I'd like to come again and try the whole salt-encrusted fish and sardines when they are in season. All in all, delicious dining!

We have been eating at this restaurant for 15 years. It used to be exceptional food at moderate prices. it was never inexpensive, but I now feel that the prices are extremely high and the food not what it once was. It has become a noisy crowded business account and tourist scene. The prix fixe lunch or pre theatre dinner is a much better option. We were very disappointed with this choice. My husband and I were in NYC for a long Thanksgiving weekend. I had spent a lot of time researching restaurants and chose this one based on my research and proximity to the theater. We got there and were seated in an area near a station where the waiters were hanging out. They were practically on top of our table talking in Greek. We were just uncomfortable. We ordered a sampler platter for an appetizer and the waiter came over and moved the food around on the plate, indicating we didn't know what we were doing. I was surprised by the entrée choices - almost no real 'Greek' choices.\n\nAnyway, we wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it to friends.

Each course is a generous serving and the food quality is excellent. We come in at 5:45 and are always out by 7:00 to make it to a 7:30 show. This was our 5th visit to Milos in the past 7 years or so, and it was just as good, if not better than our first. It's a terrific pre-show dining spot and has a reasonable prix-fixe menu for exactly that. On the other hand, it can be incredibly expensive, especially if you order some exotic species of fish that you have never heard of, much less would consider eating once you lay eyes on it. This is exactly what we did last week, but there was minimal regret because it was an every bite delight. I wish I could remember the name of the fish, but it looked like something out of a Ridley Scott movie. Milos is always a great experience, but even better on someone else's expense account!

I would have given this an 'excellent' were it not for the deafening noise and the crowded tables. This is a handsome, well appointed restaurant with a gorgeous display of fresh Mediterranean fish from Greece, Spain and Portugal. The fish is flown in daily and priced by the pound. If you decide to select any of these fish, be sure to have lots of cash on hand.\n\nMore reasonable but still expensive are the sections from the menu of various fishes and meat dishes. Service was impeccable. The wait-staff was professional and always 'on-the-ball.' There is a large selection from the 'Raw Bar' as well as many other appetizers. Fresh delicious bread is immediately served with wonderful olive oil.\n\nMy two dining companions and I decided to start with the restaurant's special appetizer, the lightly fried zucchini, eggplant, tzatziki and kefalograviera cheese. It was enough for the 3 of us to share and was scrumptious. I ordered the the sashimi quality big eye tuna, done rare. It was perfect. Another companion ordered the grilled salmon, also done to perfection. Our third dining companion got the grilled lamb chops which were huge and moist. All of us were most pleased and stuffed as the portion are quite large.\n\nEven though we were full, we opted for deserts. Two of us had the Key Lime Tart and I had the Baklava Ice Cream. Both were fantastic.\n\nIf only the management could do something about the awful noise level and the table cramping, I would make this a 'go-to' restaurant for exquisite dining.

The welcome by the 'hosts' was stilted and cool - indeed off hand! However our actual waiter more than made up for this rather patronising welcome. Food was delicious! However, we were seated at the worst table in the entire restaurant. It was in the travel path to the fresh fish area and everyone had to pass by our table. The restaurant was really crowded and the tables incredibly close to each other. There is no way they met fire code. Our waiter seemed 'distant', and very un-attentive. You might do as well to travel to Astoria for Greek food.

This restaurant was highly rated for fresh fish. Indeed they had fresh fish in the back from which you could choose dinner. Unfortunately we decided to go there on a Saturday night. The tables were very close to one another so there was no sense of privacy. The noise level was high. While the ladies at the front desk were quite welcoming, the waiter appeared distracted and not all that interested in serving us. The food, chosen from their pre-theatre menu, was tasty but every time a waiter walked bu my chair, the floor sank and the chair rocked. Overall, there are far too many notable restaurants on the city to put up with conditions such as this one with the prices that they charge. I guess as long as patrons continue to pay large amounts of cash for loud cramped conditions with disinterested waiters, the owners will not see any reason to make any changes.

The pre theater menu is the best. However the service was not up to the food quality. They rushed each course ,ultimately they brought the dessert even before one of our party had not made a choice. We were not going to theater thus no reason to rush other than they wanted us out. I guess we have to tell them next time to give us time between courses. The food is great ,probably the best value in New York.

We went for lunch and ordered off the restaurant week menu. I opted for the crab cake (a $10 add), on our waiter's recommendation. The crab cake was good (not great) and was only about 3 ounces in size. I was stunned by its small size and felt, in a word, cheated. My wife ordered the lental salad with smoked fish, which was excellent. For our entres we selected the whole fish. This entre was truly outstanding. It was beautifully prepared (a whole small fish, including head) and just delicious. For dessert, we both ordered the baklava (a $4 extra charge, per person) at the waiter's suggestion. It was a large portion but way too sweet (even for baklava) and overbaked. My wife took one small bite of her's. I ate 2/3s of mine and wished I hadn't. In retrospect, we should have sent the baklava back. \n\nThe tables here are very close together. The couple next to us was loud, very loud, and talked non-stop. This detracted from the meal. \n\nIn short, except for the entre (which was very good), this highly rated restaurant disappointed.

Once one of my favorite restaurants, I'm no longer excited to go back. The Dover sole was fine and certainly fresh but not special. Not as impressed as I thought I would be. The restaurant from the outside looks completely different from the view & décor once you're inside the door. Did not expect an industrial concrete ambiance.\nService was excellent, very attentive without being overbearing. Food was a toss-up: grilled octopus & crab cake & grilled shrimp on the Pre/Post theater menu were both scrumptious, as was the lamb chop entrée. The salad was stingy: one olive? The lamb chop entrée was appreciated, but overall didn't seem especially Greek. The dorado, billed as grilled, sported no grill stripes & seemed ultimately to be poached, not what I had in mind at all. \nOverall, given the high prices versus our level of satisfaction, didn't present a good value.

Took 3 minutes for anyone to approach us at the hostess stand even though there was plenty of staff standing around talking and taking photos of the fish display. Hostess directed us to the bar where the bartender looked at us and continued to stock her glasses. She decided she would acknowledge us and take our order when she was finished tidying up. \n\nOverall an average experience that I could have received in NJ. Nothing notable about coming here. We would have left if we weren't going to see a show.

The grilled octopus was tender and smoky, the tomato salad well flavored, and the two grilled double lamb chops were cooked to my liking and served with a reasonable portion of fries and broccoli, all at the pre-theater/concert price of $49, including dessert. A glass of crisp Greek white to start, fresh fruit to finish, and I was happy. A companion ordered branzino, simply grilled and flaky, which also looked good. Milos is another attractive option for Carnegie attendees.

We were looking for a restaurant near nbc studios since we had tickets to the tonight show on a Thursday- and this restaurant is great! Service was great- and we were even seated early. Crab cake was awesome... Lobster pasta was awesome... Baklava was awesome! Great deal for what is considered a very expensive restaurant. Loved the white bright decor too. It was very loud- maybe the only downside. Would definitely go again.

Amazing meal, ambiance, service, etc, etc., etc.!! Cannot say enough good things about our experience there this past weekend. Went for a special birthday celebration. Food was incredible and the waitstaff so helpful and friendly. We went before a show and ate off the pre-theater menu and it was more than we expected in terms of quality and presentation. Our food came out promptly and we were off to our show with time to spare. We love the decor and the openess to the outside where we could people watch while dining. Would return in a hearbeat!

Milos is an established institution in Montreal, and its NY establishment lives up in every respect to the name. We were very happy to discover a post theater menu with a very reasonable prix fixe. The octopus was exquistely cooked. We also enjoyed to the last bit the dorade (gilt-head bream) as well. Great wine selection. Impeccable and friendly service. A must when it comes to Greek fine dining in Nyc. We will go back!

been to all the Milos restaurants except Montreal. Miami is the prettiest, sexiest, and has the best people watching. NYC is loud, the clientele can be obnoxious and VERY poorly dressed, hence the romantic box not checked. (we usually dress well going to an expensive restaurant)\nNow for the fish: 'go fishing' pick your own with your waiter. try red snapper sashimi, follow with branzino. add a 1/2 portion of Milos special, try a seasonal salad (heirloom tomato in season is wonderful) Try a bottle of dry greek wine or a moderately priced sancerre and you have a seafood dinner second to none but le Bernadin\nmake sure you get a Greek waiter

We arrived on time and were seated right away. It took a fit for our waiter to arrive. We were asked if we wanted bottled or tap water and chose tap water. We had to ask again for water and when we tgot it the water was warm. We ordered drinks but one old them appeared to have spilled on the way as it was only 3/4 full. The meal was nothing special. When we were done with desert it took a very long time to get our check. Not worth the $220 (including tip).

We went here at the recommendation of a friend for their pre-theatre prix fixe menu, which was terrific at $49. It included an unbelievably delicious grilled octopus appetizer; a great tomato salad; three options for a main course, two of which we had (salmon and sea bream) and both raved over; and a walnut cake very baklava-like and delicious. Our son is a vegetarian and they made up a special vegetarian entree for him that was also superb. Considering that many of the main courses on the menu are around the same price as this four-course dinner, I can see why it comes so highly recommended. Everything was delicious; service was great and we would surely come back here again for another pre-theatre dinner....or if we are simply ready for dinner by 6:30 pm.

Had a nice time at the bar before dinner waiting for my friend to join my wife and I. The young lady bartender we had was great. The reception staff was also great. The restaurant was completely packed and we got a late start given our reservation time. But we had to wait less than 5 minutes for our table. Our waiter was great, the food and wine were great. This most recent time, the restaurant was packed for a 9:30pm reservation and the noise level was almost too much to take; at lunch I have not found noise to be a concern. I think the restaurant was totally understaffed. We waited 20 minutes for our dessert. We had time constraint so the waiter had to pack our dessert...but he packed an additional dessert, nice of him. I should have realized from the revolving door that the place was a factory. My date does not drink alcohol so the waiter seemed pissed when I did not order a bottle of wine or drinks. The reservation was for 9:30 so we were both eating light which ticked him off even more rolling his eyes like we were annoying him. The tab was only $86 and I left a $30 tip and did not even get a thank you. It could have easily been $300 and on another night it might have been; but not for me! Hospitality is not something that can be taught; ambiance is destroyed by over 400 people roaring in a concrete room and no matter how good the food is if your waiter is a jerk dinner will suck; as it did.

Milos is underwhelming and over priced. They have a very specific clientele they serve: wealthy penthouse business men and women (and their partners). If you are not one of them, you are of no concern to the staff. \n\nAfter appetizers, it was a twenty minute wait for entrees. And there were no attempts to fill that time, not even the glass of wine ordered that failed to materialize. \n\nThree requests for the check still did not free us from hostage of our table.\n\nFinally, we paid our bill feeling rather cheated; we realized we could have enjoyed a tasting menu at almost any other restaurant in the city, perhaps for even less. \n\nThe food was not exciting nor particularly good. Steamed cauliflower and whole Bronzino lacked flavor -- I repeatedly watched my dinner guests attempt to wake up the food with the table's salt and pepper. To no avail. \n\nSave your money, time and tastebuds and head to Il Buco, Marea, or frankly, Shake Shack.

Our server took us to tour the seafood market and because we were so busy visiting and celebrating, he offered to bring us his own suggestions for a meal for the table. We had the prix fixe lunch. Service was professional and friendly. The grilled octopus appetizer was a wonder to behold--definitely worth the supplement--it was the most tender, succulent octopus I have ever had in my life, with a perfect char. The meze plate was very good, but I would order one of the salads next time. The organic salmon was lusciously cooked to order, but the white beans accompanying them were a little too al dente for my preference and tasted too strongly of dill. The grilled lamb was outstanding--perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and tender--also definitely worth the supplement.

I have had the same issues with this restaurant. Service and outrageous prices. I took a date to Milos. We both got up to use the restroom at the same time. when we got back our napkins were left exactly where we left them not folded by the staff. Really 400+bucks what a lack of sophistication. they are very pretentious there . OMG they kept trying to rush us through our courses I felt like the waiter wanted to pull my plate from me before I was done. finally when were done and wanted the check the waiter looked shocked that we did not want dessert all of a sudden they wanted me to stay for dessert? no thank you. The service sucks and the staff is not friendly. We purchased expensive wine by the glass. I asked 2 times to see the bottle so I could see the label. the waiter agreed both times to bring it and never did. I suppose they are selling cheap jug wine and could not show me the bottle. I have been there about 4 times over the last 6 years and have been disappointed each time. Once I actually got up and left because no one helped us. I thought that over time the establishment and people may have changed and I would give them another chance....well you know what they say about zebras.......

As always, the welcome, food and service at Milos was topnotch. During our quiet Sunday brunch, the chef came out and talked with us. My single objection was to slightly overcooked boiled broccoli, a very small flaw. The set lunch, while bustling with business types, offers very good value. For dinner—and anytime— the by-the-pound selections lead to very, very, very high prices -- to be avoided unless someone with deep pockets is paying. Needless to say, the fish is always fresh and beautifully prepared.

Our main dishes were good; salmon and tuna burger. First time eating a fresh tuna burger; interesting taste. We also loved our dessert, walnut cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbet. My wife and I tried Milos on a referral for our NY trip this past weekend, and wow, it did not disappoint. We were able to sit outside, which is a find in and of itself in the City, and although the menu looked good, the big news came when they asked us if we had seen the fish market inside. Wow! Incredible selection. We were able to get some Carabine and Langostine, as well as black sea bass. They pull it right there and wisk it away to the chef to prepare how you want it. Remarkably fresh tasting. Enjoyable atmosphere. Not cheap, but sometimes it's worth the money to get food like that. Only suggestion would be to let the staff know if you want them to hold off on preparation of some of the food, because if you don't, they definitely keep the pace of food coming out so that you aren't sitting idly for too long. Only regret is that we didn't have more time to sit and relax, but we had a show to see. Great place. Will visit again on our next trip.

We had a 5 p.m. reservation for a pre-theatre dinner and were 30 minutes late. When we arrived, we were immediately seated and had excellent service to ensure that we were able to enjoy our meal and get to a 7 p.m. show. There was no attitude and the staff (there are many) were all excellent.\n\nThis is a wonderful restaurant. Service is outstanding, elegant ambiance and absolutely delicious food. We had the pre-theatre fixed-prixe for $49 which was extremely reasonable, especially in NYC. I had the grilled octopus for an appetizer and it was a generous portion and extremely tender. The tomato salad was very good and my main course, Loup de Mer, a grilled whole fish, was also very large, and probably the most delicious fish I have ever had. Dessert for me was 2 scoops of sorbet. I left very satisfied and anxious to return.\n\nI highly recommend.

The food at Milos is outstanding. Getting the 4 course prix fixe pre-theatre option is a wonderful value. I had very tender octopus for an appetizer, an excellent tomato salad, outstanding lamb chops and sorbet for dessert. My friend had the fish for her entree which was a very generous portion and the whole fish - delicious. For specials, you are asked to get up and look at the fresh fish that is displayed on ice. That was too much work and more expensive. Our meal was fantastic and a great value at about $50 for 4 courses. The restaurant is very busy and they definitely pack in the tables. I have been to the restaurant a few times and have always had a great meal. I recommend.

We went there on a weekday with our 5 year old and it was bustling and noisy which was great. It's clearly a popular business lunch spot as the service is brisk but well-timed and the set menu is extensive with plenty of options. All in all, great lunch and they did well to accommodate our son. He was the only child there so a bit of an anomaly and I don't think the girls on reception were too happy to see him. However, the waiters and the food was excellent so we wouldn't judge the restaurant too harshly on the entrance girls' sideways glances.

My wife picked this restaurant hoping for a cozy, romantic spot. Well, she was wrong about that but the food and the service were exceptional. Special thanks to Andreas, a great server, who could explain Greek wines to me. After explaining what kinds of wine we liked, we tried three, including a Greek sparkling wine, and all three were very good. My wife said it was the best fish she ever ate! The host (or manager) apologized for the tight space we got (small table right next to the bar) and comp'ed a free glass of Greek Pinot Noir which I think was an excellent way to handle the minor inconvenience. In summary, go for great food and great service and a very different wine list but not if you are looking for a quiet dining experience.

They have a 'fish market' where you can select your fish & preparation, tho that's a little bit of a guess as it wasn't explained to us. Service was courteous, timely & efficient. Our waiter was very knowledgeable re wines & spirits. My only real complaint was the location of our table. We were in the bar area and not the dining room proper, which detracted from the experience. Also, my chair was next to the glass revolving door, so every time someone left through the door, it felt like they were walking right up to me/behind me.

This Greek seafood restaurant is excellent, with its regular dinner menu being pricey, but not inappropriately so, considering the quality of the food and the neighborhood. The seafood doesn't get any fresher and the presentation was amazing. Our waitstaff was helpful and made excellent wine pairing suggestions. Unfortunately the hostess staff and bar staff left a lot to be desired. My wife and I arrived a few minutes early for our pre-theater meal. We were the first seating and we arrived to an open restaurant. We could not get a drink at the Bar despite asking . The Bartenders who were busy checking their phone and setting up for the night, she'd get to us when she was done. The three hostess were also too busy gossiping about one of the waiters and texting to give us the time of day. Once we were seated, things improved. But I strongly dislike bad service and standing in a restaurant for twenty minutes unable to get seated or a drink shadowed the meal.

The service was good but not as superior as at their other locations. My complaint is with the seating. Our table was squeezed into a spot that never should have had a table at all. The three of us were right up against two other tables and two primary walkways where waiters and diners had to squeeze by us constantly. This was my first time at Milos but it will certainly not be my last. The food, service and decor were all amazing. They take you 'fishing' to start your dinner and our server took us to a wonderful display of all very fresh fish from the Mediterranean. If you select one of these fish, they weigh it for you and prepare it with a simplicity that shows precise cooking skills and that lets the fish be the star. We had grilled octopus which was by far the best I have ever had. We followed that with crab cakes filled with fresh crab which again, were among the best I have ever experienced. We had the Greek Salad and the freshness of the ingredients was clearly apparent and the dressing was light but amazingly flavorful. Another favorite was the stack of eggplant and zucchini chips with a homemade yogurt underneath. The presentation and taste were superb. The main fish dish was outstanding and was cooked perfectly and with obvious loving care. The homemade mini doughnuts (loukoumades) with honey thyme syrup were divine. The doughnuts were addictive. One course was better than the next. Our server George was outstanding and very knowledgable. NY has many great restaurants and this one ranks up there with any of them.

This is a good restaurant ... friendly and helpful staff, good food well cooked, happy atmosphere. So why the lower than brilliant rating? Well, it advertises itself as a Mediterranean restaurant specialising in fish, and its name suggests a hint of Greek. That sounded enticing. But on the night the three main courses on the set menu were: charbroiled Colorado lamb chops, Faroe Islands (in mid-Atlantic) sustainable organic salmon, and Dorade Royale, billed as Mediterranean sea bream (although the dorade fish is mostly reared in the Atlantic, not far from where I live). So, not too Mediterranean. It didn't have to come up with Greek cliches like Fish Plaki to live up to its claims, but a good Mezze would have been appreciated, or perhaps a bouillabaisse. It's not cheap, so we came away feeling a bit disappointed.

I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. It was rated one of the top seafood restaurant in New York City and sure indeed I wasn't surprised. I went for dinner last Monday with my best friend for her birthday! She picked the Pre Fix Menu although I would still recommend to go through their regular dinner menu, the Pre Fix was awesome too!! I ordered Octopus and she ordered Crab Cakes for appetizers. The Octopus was delicious and not chewy at all, it was cooked at the right temperature. For main course She ordered Organic Salmon from Scotland and I went with Grilled Mediterranean Sea bream, the fish was fresh but let me tell you about Salmon, IT WAS THE BEST THAT I EVER EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! DAMN!! It just melts in your mouth. I think I will go back again just to have Salmon and try their Oysters.\nAbout Ambiance: It was a Mediterranean themed with white walls and white linens, it was nice!!\nWine: 2009 Barlow Cab from Napa.

This is the second time we have been to Estiatorio Milos for dinner prior to going to the theatre. Its location on 55th Street just off of 7th Avenue works very well. Both of our experiences were the same - outstanding. One of these days we would like to go back for a more leisurely dinner. In this visit, we had the 4 course prix fixe meal which was quite the bargain at $49. We had grilled octopus as a starter. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. We followed that with a good salad and then salmon as our main entree. The salmon was excellent. The walnut cake for desert was also quite good. When we sat down, the hostess asked us what time our play started - a very nice touch and recognition of our time constraints. Service was excellent. The waiter was knowledgeable and service was right on time - efficient without being rushed. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was fresh. The fish was fresh. I could've made it myself better. We had bones \nin the fish. It was from Greece, so it cost $200, fed three of us, and the the wine another $100, and then plain grilled veggies and a small salad -- the bill was $500. I think it was over priced for such simple fare. You can do so much better in NYC.

We have dined at Milos over many years, many times. It serves fresh fish cooked simply. It has always been way overpriced but we had liked it anyway for the energy and quality. This past time was different; the bread was dry and stale, the fish was overcooked, the manager was arguing with staff on the floor and the wine list only had a limited selection of overpriced wines served way to young. To compound the last issue, they do not allow you to bring in your own wine from your cellar so you are forced to drink what they repeatedly push on you. The energy is Armageddon on steroids.

I brought two business associates who I wanted to treat to a nice dinner. A notable feature of Milos is the large display of fresh (often flown-in) fish on ice between the kitchen and dining tables. The waiter invited us over and showed us what was available, including several exotic fish, and he suggested how each could be prepared. The fish looked incredibly fresh. We decided to turn ordering over to the waiter and to have him choose several dishes for us to share. From mackerel tartare to slightly charred cuttlefish to two fish (I forget what, but sweet, white fish) in a bowl with boiled potato and onion covered in a delicious broth. \n\nThe only lapse, or perhaps miscommunication, was that we were never offered or served vegetables or salads. We kept expecting something green to show up, but after our third course, we were offered dessert menus. Next time I leave the choices to the waiter, I'll make sure to specify some vegetables.\n\nOtherwise, a wonderful dinner and experience.

Of course it was cold and dry and it lacked taste. \nIt seemed to me that they were not at ease. Everybody who worked in front of the house seemed go be in a bad mood. It was my birthday and I regret having gone there. I did not enjoy it at all. The manager even got in a fight or yelled at the 'chef', who is not really the chef. I never write reviews but was compelled to write about my experience at Milos. I dined at Milos by myself. The entire staff was incredibly rude, ignoring me throughout the meal. I had to ask for everything -no one ever came over to offer me anything. At the end of the meal, I even had to ask for the check. The computer system was down so I had to wait 20 minutes to get a check. Since it was late and I wanted to leave, I asked for them to write out a check, which they were incapable of doing. Finally, I got the check and told the manager how horrible the staff was to me and he just smiled. No apologies, nothing.\nI have dined at Milos many times. I have been to Milos quite a few times but something was off this occasion. The Mediterranean appetizer plate did not look and taste fresh. The hummus seemed to have formed a thick coating on top (which is usually when hummus has been left out for a bit). I asked the server if that was normal, he said that it happened as the plate was on our table for 5 minutes so it was normal. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case as we received the plate like that from another server so I dont know how long the plate had been sitting out for. The entrees were great though. Our server seemed to be in a rush overall to just get us out of there and didn't particularly seem as attentive to us as other servers were being to tables. The baklava was not as good as previous occasions - it was just too hard to chew and didn't taste fresh which was vastly different from previous occasions.

We went on annual Christmas Girls weekend - this restaurant was highly recommended by 2 different sets of friends. Food was awesome, Service excellent. Ambience Fun and lively, but not to loud or distracting. We all felt as if we were really in Greece. The ceviche was the best I have ever had. Definitely On our 'Must Eats' list for next year.

Simply stated this is one of the best fish restaurants in the City. Zucchini appetizer, Lavraki for two, a veggie side, and a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc combined for a delicious meal. Was seated promptly, wait staff was friendly and helpful, and my wife and I could actually hear one another talk, something that always cannot be accomplished in a hotey totey Manhattan eatery. We've been coming here for years and intend to do so in the future. Their Las Vegas younger sister at the Cosmo is equally as good.

I have visited Milos over 10 times in the past few years and always enjoyed myself while knowing I would pay a premium. Last week however was outrageous, Thursday 12/3. We were upsold at the seafood bar to order stone crab......we received one each for $93 and they were terrible, hardly any meat. In addition, I orderd a Chardonary that was $115 per bottle....it was a highly recommended Antanori which we love their reds and the wine was terrible with no body and when I looked at my itemized bill back at the hotel I was charged $145.....it was a mistake, I got the $115 bottle. When we mentioned to the waiter he told us he could not do anything as we had drank half the bottle.....I guess we thought it would get better. Anyway, a poor experience.

The best thing about this restaurant was the sauvignon blanc from Greece. You have to order the fish by the pound. You can view different fish but if you want smaller portions and the fish is bigger, you have to pay for the bigger piece or share it. There is nothing included with the fish. All sides are ordered separately. And the sides are not very good and must be shared. It was extremely disappointing and very, very expensive for what you got. I do not recommend it.

One could not ask for more in terms of great food and service. The same is true of your South Beach restaurant in Miami. But the tables are too close together and the noise level is so high that you can barely have a conversation with your partner. Four of us dined pre-theater on a Friday evening, and savored Greek gourmet at a $49 fixed prix rate, which was unbelievable for mid-Manhattan. While I don't know this for sure, I'd be willing to bet that the number of tables squeezed into the space is at least 2 times the number that were there when the restaurant opened. Waiters could barely move through the room, and we had difficulty getting to and from the table. While the food was good, it was not spectacular. A simply grilled mediterranean sea bass that comes with nothing and cost over $100 for 2 was over cooked/dry; a stack of thinly sliced and tempura-like vegetables, a house specialty that cost around $30 was greasy. A tomato and feta salad, albeit tasty, was also around $30. The noise level made it difficult to have a conversation or to hear anything the waiter was saying; the crowding was ridiculous; the quality of food, service, and overall dining experience did not begin to meet the cost of the evening.

I am a huge foody and go to a new restaurant every single week; I can name 3 Greek restaurants off the the top of my head that are way better than Milos. $200 a person for dinner I expect nothing less than a memorable experience in NYC and Milos couldn't provide that if it was their last meal served. Service was horrendous as they tried to rush you every second they could get. At one point my girlfriend was still eating her appetizer and the waiter came over to take away her plate without even asking her if she was finished. Didn't even apologize after I told him what he did. A lot of people said the food is incredible; I will never ask for recommendations from them again. Just because you spend a lot of money on a meal doesn't make it a good meal. Food was nothing special and extremely bland. Milos Special-Fried Zucchini chips with yogurt was $28, Greek salad- tomatoes with feta cheese and olive oil was $32 and a side order of grilled vegetables to go along with our main dishes (very small dish) was $31. That's one way to gauge the customer for such simple and small dishes, ripe off! We also had the Octopus which was good, not the best. For our Main we had the Branzino which was also good but nothing special. The 2 desserts we had were plain and bland as well; after a couple of bites we didn't touch it again. Had the food been amazing, different and unique, I would never have an issue in providing 5 stars but the continuing theme to this show was it was nothing special and bland. I would never recommend this restaurant.

They did however move us after we asked. Our next table for two was crammed in a corner. I had difficulty getting out to use the restroom because of the six dinners right on top of us. \nThe $$$$$ticket price for the food is NOT warranted...$135 for a DoverSole (my favorite)..dry with a very strong flavor. \nOur older server was completely charming and helpful. We had to remind our younger server eventually to please keep an eye on us as he disappeared for the first 15 min we were there after water service....no cocktail during that time. \nI would not recommend this over-rated over-priced eatery to anyone.

The Greek salad was delicious, the grilled shrimp by far the winner - incredible but the lobster was incredibly disappointing!!! The restaurant was very busy post-theater on a Friday night. One major complaint was the pricing. Being frequent Manhattan restaurant diners, we are used to paying for good food and service, but not these prices for food and service of this quality. There were also no reasonably priced wines. The octopus salad appetizer, tomato salad and Loup de Mer fish for the entree were all excellent. Octopus nicely charred, the olive oil used in the salad very flavorful. The fish was particularly outstanding, minimally dressed so that the fresh taste of the fish shines. The walnut cake dessert was subpar. The ambience was cafeteria style, and I was lost as to why others had raved about feeling like they were on a Greek island......hardly. Tables too packed together and noise level very high. Service was indifferent. I requested a pepper mill for my appetizer from our waiter and I had to search for someone to bring it with each subsequent course. \n\nWould I return? Yes, but only for one of their specials, either pre or post theater, or lunch.

Found this place at the last minute as it was within close proximity to Carnegie Hall. I made a 5:45 reservation, as we had a show at 8:00. We were late by 25 minutes and the staff was kind enough to find a table for us even though they appeared to be filling up. The place had a good vibe from then on! We were asked if we have dined with them before, and offered a tour of their fish selection. We thought this was odd at first but after we went 'fishing' with our waiter we realized what it was all about. It was the opportunity for them to showcase the abundant selection of fish from around the globe. This was not only impressive but educational. We were offered a course selection that turned out to be unbelievable. The freshness and quality of everything served was terrific. The wine selection was a little pricey, but good. Would highly recommend family style with several courses as we did. I look forward to going back!

The pre-theatre dinner at $49.00 is a good value. Good choices for all four courses. Best Greek salad I've had in a long time. Octopus was excellent! Jonas, our wine steward, was excellent--knowledgeable about Greek wines and is in the process of expanding his knowledge.

Great restaurant! This was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed. The Big Eye tuna was a bit pricey for the meal size bu
