I don't often give '5 stars' but Ilili merits them. It's a pretty classy operation. Primarily: as always the first consideration: the food is excellent. There are all kinds of patterns for ordering, small plates and larger plates in whatever arrangement, and all of them work. They have a substantial service staff, most of whom seem polite and reasonably well informed; our needs were charmingly met. The room is a little on the sparse side--or maybe it's elegantly simple; and it's not inexpensive... Ilili is one of our favorites, and a go-to for Occasions...

OVERALL\nI came here for a birthday dinner with a total of 9 people. It was perfect for such a large group of people! We got a bunch of tapas to share and had a great time.\n\nFOOD\nThe food is unique and really delicious. I've had plenty of Mediterranean food before but nothing quite like this. We had a few people with dietary restrictions and the waitress was so helpful in making sure no one ate anything they weren't supposed to. The brussels sprouts are their most popular dish - the description (brussels sprouts, grapes, fig jam, walnuts, mint yogurt) really doesn't convey the dish itself. I've eaten brussels sprouts aplenty and never had any that tasted quite like this. Other highlights were the octopus and hummus.\n\nSERVICE\nOur waitress was amazing at recommending food we'd like and was super helpful with the dietary restrictions. (I've never seen a waitress take it so seriously!) My only issue with the service was when we were waiting to be seated. We had our entire group there at 730 waiting at the bar. We waited a few minutes before I got a text message telling me to see the hostess all the way at the front of the restaurant. I waited there and she kept saying, 'hold on, hold on.' Not sure why they seem to be the only restaurant that doesn't send someone to the bar to find the group instead of making people walk back-and-forth several times. Minor annoyance that only mattered because I was wearing very uncomfortable shoes!\n\nSCENE\nIt's not loud but there is some good people watching. The decor is modern and chic. The tables are just a bit too close to each other.

My husband and I have been to Ilili before but this time we brought our son who is gluten free. Most of the items on the menu are gluten free and our waitress was very knowledgeable about which ones he could choose from. Also, since many of the dishes have pita bread for dipping, a plate of crudites was brought out for my son. He was able to enjoy every bit of the meal. Although not cheap, the food is outstanding and creative.

We have dined at this restaurant many times. It has a nice atmosphere, tasty food and feels relaxed. Unfortunately, the poor service this time tried hard to ruin our experience. The waiter had little idea about the food, none about the wine and did not have any understanding of the menu. We ordered quite a few small plates and just 2 entrees. In the end, we never got one of the entrees because it was unduly delayed...they did offer us complimentary deserts but they had no Turkish coffee. Instead they brought us what they called mint tea which really tasted like hot water...I hope these service and availability (or lack) bumps are temporary.

The food was good, but service was very awkward and felt poorly trained. I was met with an unhappy look at the door and when I greeted and said that I had a reservation, a quick and unfriendly 'name?' was given to me as a response. Then followed an awkward pause where the hostess just stared at the computer for 4 minutes before someone behind her brought us to the table. The servers speech throughout the meal did not match the modern interior of the restaurant, with several instances where my friend was referred to as 'hun' as if I was eating at a local diner.

The menu was a draw and service staff could not have been more helpful in recommendations, even suggesting we take a look at the desert menu from the beginning so we could plan our choices accordingly! We had Changleesh w/warm pita, Beef kibhe, Atayef and Moujarada and the most amazing Brussels Sprouts! It was impossible to pick a favorite and they all completed each other. The fig soufflé w/caramel sauce was an amazing finish to a perfect meal.

Came here for resturaunt week and their menu had so many choices which was great to see since a little of places offer very minimal variety for their restaurant week menu. You also got a lot of food for the fixed price (each person got 2 appetizers?!). My only complaint was where we were seated. The main dining room was gorgeous but we got stuck in what seemed like an overflow area which was just a dark room with no decoration.

We visited ilili for my birthday and restaurant week with my family. The decor is sleek and elegant. We had drink at the bar and our table was ready in a few minutes. \nDidn't know it was still happy hour, was delighted with the price and the infused martini. \nThe menu for restaurant week was great, you got to order 2 appetizers, one entree and a dessert. It was almost too much food. The waiter and the manager Britta were very attentive and accommodating to me and my family and brought out food with candles twice and sang happy birthday twice. It was a very memorable experience. We will be sure to stop back very soon.

This is approximately my 16th time to Ilili...seems like from last year to now, some chefs have changed. The brussel sprouts were not nearly what they've been in the past. The vibe was fun and dynamic in the bar so the evening seemed promising. We were seated with barely 6 inches between tables if that much. This proved to be too close as table next to us was seated with two ladies but what sounded like a bachelorette party. So that was the ambiance. The food seemed to be a mixture of Lebanese and American with all of the small portions being Lebanese and the two-person and entrees American. The server recommended 6 small plates and we did 5. My take on the food was that everything was drowned. We had the Brussels sprouts and I love Brussels sprouts. The dish was hardly touched. They were covered in a fig, yogurt concoction that was so sweet it was awful. I had the lamb sausage another favorite and the flavor here was good but the texture was very smooth and almost rubbery. The lamb dumplings had great flavor once you wiped them free of the yogurt bath they came in. The rice was perfect and more would have been appreciated, it was literally 3 tablespoons of rice. The pita was plentiful and perfect. Our server kept asking us if we wanted drinks despite the many nos and the fact that we both still had cocktails from pre-dinner drink. Finally the noise got so loud that we just decided to leave taking no left overs of which there was plenty.

I went to Ilili for my birthday party and despite having booked a reservation 3 weeks in advance, we were seated at first in the upstairs which was crammed and little lighting -- and then moved to the lower level where lighting was unfortunate and we were near the bathrooms. They did not seat us in the main dining hall which caused an uncomfortable experience for my guests. Furthermore, they did not follow instructions for splitting the bill and charged over $250 to one person --- overcharging us by over $150. They came over and apologized but did not offer anything to my friend for this big mistake. They could have offered her a free meal next time she comes, or something. Anything. Instead they just apologized and that was that. I like this restaurant off peak hours and in small groups. Otherwise you risk having a sloppy experience.

We had a 7:15 reservation and we were seated promptly. The place was mobbed but service was excellent. Our waiter was polite and informative. Being that it was restaurant week, we had a delicious, plentiful meal for $42.00 each. We did try the Lebanese rose (that was the only thing we didn't enjoy). We had a choice of 2 appetizers. We all tried something different. The burrata was good, though I do remember having more pistachios on top last time we ordered it. The chicken livers in pomegranate sauce were excellent. My husband ordered tuna tartar. He said the pieces were cut way to big but otherwise tasty. A few of us had hummus. Can't go wrong with that. My daughter chose the falafel. It was an interesting take on it. Almost looked like a thick piece of toast cut in triangles. It was good but could have definitely used more herbs and spices. Then it was time for mAin courses. 3 of us chose the lamb. It was incredible. It was super tender and tasty. . It was accompanied by cucumber (tsatsiki sauce). Would definitely order it again. My daughter had the salmon. The portion was rather small. She said it was ok. If you do not like your salmon undercooked, tell them. Could hardly wait for dessert. Have had Ashta (hope it is spelled correctly) and it did not disappoint! I am Cypriot and we have similar tasting desserts. The rose water and creaminess of this dessert leaves you wanting more, even if you are stuffed! Looking forward to our next visit.

You can expect to be sited in the low ceiling, dark, remove and frankly depressing back room if you are a party of 2. Only 4 or more get to enjoy the main hall, which is quite nice. \nSmall parties get to pay the same but sit in the back of the bus. \nOverall, and regardless of where you sit, the food is way overpriced - read the menu before you go. Small portion of decent food you can get for 1/4 the price in 3 dozen joints in town. For these kind of prices one would expect a decent pita bread and not warmed up cardboard pita, similar if not the same kind you can buy at the grocery store. \nTable service was ok, it is the host who could use a wake up call.

My friends and I have been here several times. The food is very good but the service is awful. The last time we went, the waitress kept pouring the wine and before the appetizers came out, the bottle was nearly empty, although we had asked her to slow down. On this visit, we requested a wine list which the waitress never delivered. When we finally got the bottle of Chenin Blanc, it was very sweet, a Vouvray, not to my liking. The manager took our order and the appetizers took a very long time to come out. The main courses came while we were still eating our appetizers. There wasn't any room on the table so they took them back. Them we had to wait a long time for our desserts. The waitress offered us coffee after we finished our desserts. Then we wanted to split the bill 3 ways, 2 of us paying by card and one in cash. She never brought the change and told us that we were all confused and that she was trying to make it easy for us to understand. We asked for change of a $100 bill which she never brought so we had to ask the manager to get us our change. Overall, the food is good but the bad service and wine ruined the evening. I would think twice before going back there. The wait staff is inexperienced and makes for an unenjoyable night out.

We went during restaurant week and it was busy so we were seated upstairs in a back room. I found it uncomfortable. I thought the room was a bit shabby (lots of pillows) and I was facing out looking at bright lights and exit signs. The bathroom upstairs was also filthy. As for the food, the starters were very good, the mains were fair and the desserts were not so good, so it seemed to go downhill. I will say that the service was great from start to finish. If I was doing the night over, I would have asked to sit at the bar and we would have stuck to mezza. The main room seems to be set up for large groups so maybe its better for groups rather than a date.

We needed up asking the assistant manager to put together an assortment of choices for us - cold appetizers, warm appetizers, and one entree (there were four of us). The negative was the service - which was virtually non-existent - other than they were very good about getting the food out to us. Overall good experience. The food and service were very good. Their taboule was okay, everyone makes their different, but this one seemed more wet and almost all parsley. The mahammara was good, but seemed like it was just scooped out and put on the plate and was still quite cold like out of the refrigerator. It's typically better served cold, but allowed to thaw a bit.\nAs far as ambiance and noise level. When we first arrived they brought us to a back room which was quiet and a more romantic where they appeared to have most of their two person tables. About 20 minutes in, they brought a loud 15 person group and sat them behind us. We could no longer hear well and it was much fun after that. We've been to much better Lebanese in the city with a quieter atmosphere.

The food is not the same, don't take me wrong, its good but not elite anymore. If you are going to charge $10+ for 4 pieces of falafel then it better be great. They were over cooked (fried), the spiced cauliflower was outright unimpressive. If this was my first visit, I may offer more stars but for an elite restaurant, the certainly disappointed me this time.

I'd like to give this restaurant a better review but my experience was just not that good. The main floor has a warm and fun vibe and ambience, but the second floor is a second class outpost that has little in common with the main room except for the menu. Needless to say, my wife and I were seated upstairs, and this started the evening on the wrong note for me. The menu has some very good items, but something about the food left my appetite suppressed and I had a hard time enjoying what should have been a great meal. I had come to Ilili for casual business lunches before so I knew the food was outstanding but was pleasantly surprised when I tried the brunch with my family. I often find brunches menu to be a sore excuse to serve eggs at an exorbitant price but not at Ilili. The $28 brunch menu is varied: eggs (delicious lebanese twists on brunch favorites), but also lunch fares such as lamb burger (juicy and rich) and Lebanese flat breads, pancakes, with two generous sides and a beverage and coffee or tea. All perfectly executed and well portioned. They also serve the rest of their menu, which is great in case someone in your party has specific dietary needs that wouldn't be met by the prix fixe. Another nice surprise was to see that this restaurant, rather upscale, wasn't looking down on tables with kids, and that the little diners were even specifically catered to with crayons and seasonal coloring pages laid out for them on the entrance lounge (they do take seriously their policy of only seating a party once everyone has arrived). So, maybe not the place for a romantic brunch, but definitely nice for groups, celebratory family brunches, and just a very nice spot for the foodie stroller crowd and their parents. Special kudos to the management and the service. Our waiter was a pro, at once friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. The manager graciously stepped in (and up!) with a meaningful gesture ($25 taken off the total check) when I ran into a problem which was not their fault though at their restaurant (some previous customer had stuck their gum under the table, which in turn got on my outfit!). Ilili is Lebanese food at its best with gracious service, and nicely priced. I can't wait to go back.

This was a great exploration of Lebanese cuisine, which I didn't realize it was from the 'Mediterranean' description given it on OpenTable. Nonetheless, the fresh-made hummus was 'nothing like you get in the store' as my dining partner said, and her lamb dumplings in a luscious yogurt sauce were heavenly. We got a series of small plates; Tabouleh at $16 for a small plate that we shared was super pricey considering the fairly simple ingredients, but it also was very green, and not bulgar-wheat heavy, as I have had in other locales. You could taste the freshness, even through the lemony zing. We also had some of the arak, which added considerably to the bill in short order, so be prepared to spend $100 minimum, and more like $150 if you get 'real' entrees instead of small plates. The duck-and-chicken shwarma was quite filling; also easily shareable as it comes in two separate flatbread cones. And the recommendation for the walnut spread was spot on as well. You may need to spend about $200. Or come back the next day.

I love Middle Eastern food, but most Middle Eastern restaurants are small, casual, no-frills places. Ilili, on the other hand is large, urbane and sophisticated. Best of all, the food is far better than what's served at the typical restaurants. I went there with 2 other people, and we shared a selection of cold and hot meze dishes. I was too full to eat the lamb dumplings, but the other two people raved about them. The other mezza we shared were mouhamara, tuna kibbeh, grape leaves and cauliflowers. I've had all of those dishes at other Lebanese restaurants, and nowhere were they so delicious and artfully presented as at Ilili. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant, and the restaurant was quiet the evening we were there.

Our waiter, whose name I don't have, made our dinner amazing. He made food and wine recommendations that were perfect. Someone in our group had never had falafel before, he thought it wouldn't be a good fit with the other dishes we ordered so he brought out one falafel for our guest to try. It was very thoughtful. He recommended something, the warm eggplant salad, that I might have ignored, but will now order every time I go. Great meal. Great charming waiter.

The service is superb! The atmosphere is very clean & modern. The noise is loud, almost like a club (at least at dinner time). The food is very mild in flavor. I think I get much more flavor for less money with the same type of food from the Halal and meat carts on the street! Therefore I think it all was highly overpriced. Nothing I ate was amazing. The toasted pita hurt my teeth, the olives aren't pitted so they hurt my teeth too, the greek yogurt dip was nothing special (Sabra is much better), the duck/chicken Shwarma were dry and tasted like how a farm smells, the brussel sprouts were charred and tasted just like a burnt brussel sprout (so again nothing special), the cauliflower was ok, their pita bread pockets are ok, and the Mix Grill was ok - tho the sausage tasted exactly like how poop smells. Other than that, our waiter & servers were absolute gentlemen and I would only go back to give this place a second chance simply for them.

Had a good time but wasn't blown away. Not insanely expensive for New York, but just a little too pricey for the creativity level of the cuisine. I have eaten at small family places all over New York that have better food for half the price. That said, the food was fine. Bass was unevenly cooked, some parts under- others over-cooked. Scallop sides were pretty boring as was the lamb. Mezza were better and more interesting. Overall a generally enjoyable, good experience but nothing makes me want to run back. Wine list could also use some serious work.

As always, the food and service was great at Ilili once we were seated. The food is really a wonder, beautiful to look at and bursting with vibrant flavors. We ordered a slew of mezza and each was well described by our servers and service was well paced to allow us to savor the variety of dishes. Wine service was nicely handled, including decanting and serving the bottle I brought along with the Musar Blanc I ordered. There was a little rough spot in getting seated because the hostess was trying to put us in their rear dining room, which really diminishes my enjoyment. If it had been a busier night I would have understood, but we knew they had plenty of reservation space ahead. Fortunately, someone came to the rescue and we got seated fairly quickly. The one other negative was the volume of the music when we arrived, which initially made it difficult to communicate with one another as well as the service staff in a normal tone of voice. Ilili, your food and customers are energetic enough. Please lower the volume.

We came in time and the hostess was busy so we were seated by the bar which had a happy hour. We wanted to order drinks at happy hour prices, so we waited to be served and paid and then moved to our table. Our hostess was snarly about all of this. Really NOT a good impression. I had been to Ilili a number of times, so I was in charge of ordering. Everything was FANTASTIC! We ordered all small plates, so there was something for everyone. We all enjoyed it! Ilili used to be one of my favorite restaurants in NY but can't say that anymore. The service was very slow, and the food was partially cold by the time it arrived on the table. Their are many cold vegetarian options but not hot appetizers and absolutely no veg options for main course except gnocchi. With a large group of vegetarians (no seafood), options are very limited. Everything at Ilili was fabulous, as always. The hostesses were very friendly. I accidentally made my reservation for 2 instead of 4 and they accommodated us without a problem. One of my friends is not too into seafood but was open to trying. We ordered some meat and veggie dishes as well. We ordered the shrimp hummus, tabbouleh, kibbeh, tuna kibbeh, brussel sprouts, potatoes, lentil croquettes, burrata (which comes with some amazing and wonderfully spiced flat bread), the whole fish and dessert. A) everything came with freshly made WARM and PUFFY pita. I have been to many middle eastern restaurants and have never had pita so delicious and fresh B) the tabbouleh tasted sooooooo herbal and fresh it was like nothing I have ever had C) even our new to fish friends LOVED the whole fish and the tuna kibbeh D) the brussel sprouts and lentil croquettes are dishes that are beyond amazing and you will likely not be able to find something comparable elsewhere. The foam and safron with the croquettes was so delicious. Needless to say, I will be back soon!

I can only say something about brunch. Been here a few times only for brunch. Never been disappointed. A bit pricey for brunch maybe, but the prix fixe is actually a great deal for NY. The food is excellent, too. The lamb burger is phenomenal! Even the free scones they gave us before the meal were yummy. The Bellini that came with my meal was actually potent, unlike at other places where the drinks are watered down. Excellent space for big groups. When I walked in I was struck by the busy bar with lots of people enjoying the small plates of food. The main dining room is beautiful. They seem to seat groups of a larger size there so my friend and I sat off the main dining room in a smaller more intimate area. I would have preferred the main room but this is my only complaint. I loved the food, which I would describe as Lebanese with a little something extra, nothing was bland and all was interesting and flavorful. The food is outstanding, the waiters were all very friendly and polite. The downside was the rudeness of the manager in charge: following some questions about the 'chef menu' vs. other options, he just turned his back on me (and his waiter) and walked away without saying nothing to us and start to aggressively type our order on the rest screen... I looked at the waiter and asked what happened and then the waiter 'chased' the manager to ask what is going on... it was very close to ruin my family lunch; but I'm better than that... But definitely will not come back at this manager turn...

Lazy indifferent service. First we were told the Restaurant Week menu is only available if everyone at the table orders it - I've never heard that requirement before at other restaurants. I specifically sought this restaurant out because I tasted their food at one of the outdoor food markets and I was told that slow cooked lamb dish I had sampled was off the menu. It is on the Menu Week menu - but no I could not order a la carte. My husband was annoyed because she leaned on the table taking our order - slovenly. And then stood behind us yawning without covering her mouth. The whole experience bummed me out. And the kicker is, the restaurant is gigantic and was only maybe 1/4 full - so not sure why they need to enforce all those rules as if trying to discourage return patrons. Their strategy worked for us.

Bar tender and waiter was horrible. You'd think for what they charge they would have a good staff. No recommendations and don't when asked what's signature dish they replied with what do you want to eat. Said for 8 we needed 8 main courses ontop of tapas and def had to order sides. All dishes comes with a strong veggies side. Bartender told us a drink was horrible which was part of their signature drinks but wouldn't let me guest try it...so he ordered nothing. Bad bartender is say and then miss charged us at the end of the night by 100 dollars...that's a lot when we're a part of 8. Finally waited over 20 minutes for dessert which showed up half melted which would of been find it it didn't take 20 mins and it was just after we were talked out of their dessert that does take 20 mins. Overall food was good by wouldn't go back base on service for what you pay major disappointment. I never write reviews but the service was so bad felt I had to.

I know that there may be more authentic Lebanese food but honestly this place rocks, the combination of delicious shareable plates to the great cocktails with a beautiful interior AND a total value for NYC. I've been about five times, and my experience has been excellent and consistent which is nice. When dining in groups I find that we end up at $20-40 each depending on beverage consumption and to me that's just such a value in NYC- I would totally pay twice as much because I find the food addicting. Don't pass the baked cheese dessert (I forget the name) it's amazing, among other things. It's a beautiful, high ceilinged space, but we (and the other parties of 2) were seated in a separate room--perhaps the private party space--that was not nearly as attractive, had very low ceilings and was somewhat claustrophobic. It felt like we were in an entirely different restaurant. It was also extremely crowded and noisy, but perhaps that was just due to the fact that it was Restaurant Week. The food is 'creative' and cooked brilliantly. We will definitely go back when we visit NY next.\n\nMy advice to the management and customers is regarding the upstairs dining area.\n\nTo the customers:\nRequest seating downstairs when making the reservation\n\nTo management:\nWe were taken upstairs first and immediately requested to be taken back downstairs. As my husband put it, the upstairs is like 'any curry house in London'. Indeed, we could have been back home for a cheap eat. It's a completely different look and ambiance to the downstairs - almost like two restaurants in one place.

Great service. Food tasted very good. Portion sizes were just right. The waiter was very attentive and courteous. The only disappointing experience was with the hostess. Her initial greeting was quite curt. Even though I had made a reservation a day in advance and in spite of the fact that there were many empty tables in the main dining area, we were taken upstairs to a cramped room with no windows. When I asked for a table in the main floor, she made me feel that it was an imposition on her. We eventually got a table in the back area on the main floor.

Having lived in Beirut for two and a half years, I love Lebanese food but found that it isn't easy to get good restaurants here in NYC. I had high expectations of Ilili and it turned out to be a rather disappointing experience. Overall, quality of food was about average and but when the price is factored in, it really doesn't seem worth it. We were a party of 6 and we all found the food to be generally quite salty but the fattoush salad we ordered was so salty that it was inedible. How can a real Lebanese restaurant go wrong with fattoush?

Beautiful dining room and bar. However, in the dining room most of the tables are the large round type and it's very loud = impossible to hear people sitting at the other side of the big tables without yelling, which only adds to the noise level. The restaurant could try installing foam under the tables to decrease the noise. Menu had some unique offerings and everything was beautifully presented but many dishes, especially the eggplant and the dandelion greens, had more oil than expected.

Second time this year. Last time was on July 31, during restaurant week (which was luck, as I live in DC and did not know...).\nThis time I came with a friend, who also lives in DC. We had a great time. I called in because we were running late in traffic from Rockefeller Center to 27th Street, although it was already past 9pm... \nThe noise level was a but too high for two people who have lots to talk about... The table next to us consisted of a group of women who had had a little bit too much too drink and were sort of shrieking like teenagers, but we managed (although I woke up voiceless the next day, having had to force my voice to be heard...)\nThe food was great as always. I chose everything because it was his first time and made sure he tried kibbeh nayeh and the duck shawarma.\nThe drinks were sweeter than usual (From Beirut with Passion), and would have deserved to be less so so that the herb-infused vodka could be really tasted.

So now I have to eat my words. I finally went here to eat with my parents. Both the food and service were amazing. My middle eastern dad was absolutely in love with the food. We did a meal of appetizers. \n\nHummus with added Basterma - the hummus was the same as anywhere else but my dad was over the mood about the basterma (middle eastern beef jerky)\n\nRkaykat Bil Jibneh - cheese rolls. These were my favorite (besides dessert) they were addictive\n\nBeef Fried Kibbeh - Very tasty, similar to my grandmother's\n\nDuck Shawarma - really flavorful, nice twist\n\nTabbouleh - same as anywhere else\n\nFalafel- cool square shapes. Made partially with fava beans, the way it should be done\n\nThe BEST PART was dessert. I'm generally not a fan of middle eastern desserts but this was the perfect finish:\n\nKnafe bil jibneh - crusty sweet melty cheese tart with sesame filo. This was sooo good, wish I hadn't been so full

We're from out of town. The first time we were there, we just ordered a collection of appetizers, sufficient for a meal, and loved it. The second time, a year later, was 'restaurant week' so we ordered a full meal. That meant less variety, of course, but it was wonderful, too. The food is delicious, the presentation beautiful, the service really pleasantly attentive. New York fine dining is expensive—remember, we're from out of town—but Ilili is reasonably priced (by NY standards), and outstanding quality (/even/ by NY standards).

Which is not bad unless you are in a hurry as we were. Other than that, the place is great for groups of 4+. Most of the tables for 2 are not in the main room but in a smaller, much more miserable one, right next to the main room.\nAs i said the food is great and I would recommend the place. This swanky Mediterranean was perfect fit a light lunch with incentive cocktails (vodka infused with ginger and mint with passion fruit killed it) and the falafel and lamb meat balls were apps but hearty enough for a meal. Good thing, too, as it's not cheap -- drinks come with a $16 price tag and apps go up to $20, with entrees closer to $30, which is pricey for lunch, but you could opt for the prix fixe for $29 which was much more reasonable. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere lively but not too loud. Highly recommended fur a business lunch or for ladies who lunch.

Came for Restaurant Week dinner on a Friday. Decor downstairs was gorgeous, but we were brought upstairs to a much plainer-looking room a bit more reminiscent of a diner. Service was mediocre -- extra pita never arrived; ordered two glasses of arak but received a water carafe for only one; intermittent loud clanging noises as servers kept inexplicably dropping large metal containers on the floor in the serving area a few feet away.\n\nThe food was disappointing as well; it would've been passable as homestyle Lebanese but we expected much more from a $42 prix fixe. The kitchen seemed not to have tried very hard with the dishes we ordered, and the cooking just seemed a bit lazy.\n- kebab meatballs had good flavoring but were overcooked and slightly tough\n- beef tartare was bland, fatty, and accompanied by large chunks of raw onion\n- short ribs were very overcooked, tough, and sinewy\n- scallops were seared decently well but had a thinner crust than I would've liked; there was also no flavoring on the scallops themselves -- there was a creamy white sauce to accompany, but it was bland and didn't stick to the scallops.\n\nUnderstand that restaurant week might be a bit less profitable, but would've preferred they make fewer dishes better rather than follow the crowd, serve a full menu, and skimp on ingredients and preparation.

We also tried the baked cheese with syrup (sorry don't remember the name)- definitely worth tasting Almost forgot to mention the delicious warm puffed bread. Service was attentive and friendly. \nThe one downside of the experience was that many of the entrees had supplemental charges of $4 and the baked dessert was $6. There was a special entree for $13 more. We definitely enjoyed the food but spent more than anticipated for a restaurant week lunch. The standard prices were on the high side for lunch, would recommend for a special occasion The restaurant had lovely spaces for larger party dining upstairs. Would definitely recommend trying, just annoyed they did not truly follow restaurant week tradition of $25 which was possible but with limited choices.

Ilili is a terrific business lunch spot in Flatiron. Very sedate, very zen, very sophisticated. Food is Mediterranean and is incredibly interesting and different in a fantastic way. It's a bit pricey, but if you want to try a new place with a different take on Mediterranean menu, it's Ilili.

The service at this place was great at lunch time. The waiters kept our glasses full at all times, and made sure to accommodate dietary restrictions. \nOur appetizers were delicious. The moujadara and hummus were spectacular -- subtly yet extremely flavourful and savory-- and the bread that they came with was warm and fresh. Those set my expectations really high for my entrée, but the lamb shank sandwich that came did not live up to the appetizers. It was much too oily: the lamb meat itself is really rich, but there's fried eggplant dripping with oil on top of that, some more fatty sauce, and the bread itself was oily on the surfaces you'd hold a sandwich by. It was just overpowering with oil from the first bite and I just had no desire to finish that sandwich. If I go back to Ilili, I'd definitely get more appetizers and stay away from sandwich-style entrées. \nHad some passion fruit and mango sorbet for dessert, but those were sweet to the point of being cloying. I usually go for tart sorbets like lemon or raspberry, though, so you can take my sorbet review with a grain of salt.

I have come here three times, and each time I leave more content than the last. First of all, the service is great. The waiters (I've had the same one twice already) know the menu inside and out and always have great recommendations. They will also delve into the history and origins of the food, enhancing the ordering experience. \n\nThe plates are meant for sharing and the food is authentic and delicious. I highly recommend the Lamb Kefta appetizer, the Hummus, the lamb main dish, and brussels sprouts (though those are not necessarily authentic). Definitely finish off your meal with a calming mint tea.

This Lebanese cuisine takes somewhat familiar middle eastern dishes and serves them with a modern, creative, and delicious flair. The pita bread served to the table is fresh baked, warm, and sooo soft. I never want to eat a store bought pack of pita bread ever again. The homemade hummus (I've had both plain and with shrimp), is light, creamy, and perfect to scoop up on the pita bread. I've had the lamb burger at lunch, which was well seasoned and moist. I've also had the lamb loin chops at dinner. They were perfectly cooked and so delicious, that I had what remained on the bone packed to take home, so that I could finish them off in the privacy of my own home. \n\nThe ambiance is cool, New York chic - yet the wood and copper screen decor, adds a welcoming warmth to the place. There's a huge bar/lounge area which I'm sure fills up on weekends. But, there's also a separate room for two-table dining if you're looking for a more intimate space. \n\nI highly recommend ilili.

I love the concept at Ilili. The problem I had was the food--two of our dishes were EXCELLENT--absolutely delicious. The other two (i think lamb pancakes and brussels sprouts) were over-flavored, over-powering, and unappetizing. As an expensive restaurant that I had been to during restaurant week, i was disappointed. It was one of my boyfriend's only meals in NYC and he remembers that it wasn't so great, and we spent quite a bit of our budget...

My partner and I had dinner at Ilili. Our server was very helpful when it came to deciding on what to eat. My partner and I are both vegetarian. There was only one vegetarian entree, but there were a slew of options in the cold and hot mezze menus. We ordered six different items and they were all fantastic. The noise got a little overwhelming for my partner, but he is very sensitive to that. We picked items we were familiar with and some that were new to us. All of the dishes were delicious.

This was our first visit to ilili. When we were led upstairs, from the beautifully decorated main dining room to a table in a small, completely undistinguished room being used for overflow, we were very disappointed. With no main dining room seating available, despite our reservation, we accepted the table offer. Our servers could not have been nicer, and the restaurant, understanding our disappointment, went out of its way to compensate us, providing free side dishes and apologies. The GM stopped by to offer her card and suggest that next time, we call her to make sure that good seating was reserved. And, the food was fabulous. Highly recommend this restaurant for their attitude and food ... but until they make an effort to redecorate their overflow space, try to get a seat in the main dining room.

I've been here at least a dozen times and the only reason I choose it is because it's one of very few options in the neighborhood for a lunch that isn't super casual. That should tell you that I don't find anything remarkable about it on a good day. That said, there are a few things worth mentioning that knowing ahead of time will help.\n\nIt is LOUD. Not just boisterous and busy, but LOUD. This is a great place to go if you don't actually like the people you're with because you won't be able to hear them. Also, if you're lucky you can have the same rude and clueless hostess that seated our party of 3 at a large round table for 5 so we were all sitting awkwardly on one side of the table. When we asked her kindly if another more appropriately sized table was available she sat us at another table the exact same size. We could only laugh. After all, she probably couldn't hear us. \n\nOverall, ililiy is far from offensive, but it is overwhelmingly average and you are paying prices befitting a much better experience. And you won't be able to hear the people in your group so don't go expecting to be able to have an intimate experience.

Ilili was recommended to us by a friend as a good place for vegetarian dishes. Being familiar with Middle Eastern cuisine - hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, etc. - we figured it would be delicious but not anything unusual. We were blown away. Not only is Lebanese food unique in its own right, but Chef Daniel does absolutely amazing things with it. The style of the menu (small bites) makes it possible to try many different dishes, and every one of which was more inspiring than the last. Standouts: the thyme salad, Chankleesh (it sounds simple - feta cheese with accompaniments, but it is incredible), Arnabeet Mekle (hearty and savory, perfect even for meat-eaters), and the Phoenician Fries. Go, ask your server what to order (or even just let them order for you!), and indulge. It was spectacular.

Ilili was billed to be a warm, inviting place to experience the cuisine of Lebanon. We were seated in the side dining room which looks like a cheaply furnished family restaurant out in the suburbs. There were very low ceilings, very dark lighting, white cloths covering windows looking out on to some hallway, and mirrors everywhere trying to make the area look more spacious and brighter. The main dining room is very nice with high ceilings, wood cut outs and modern vibe, but perhaps since we did not pay the hostess any additional $$ were would not be seated in that area despite reservations and open tables. The service was fine, attentive, but i got sick after eating the trout special, and the portion size of the appetizers were barely enough to get a taste. We had gone for an anniversary dinner and felt neither welcomed and infact were slightly rushed. Too bad, I really wanted to like this place, it does not rate with creative, middle eastern cuisines establishments such as Grafitti or Taboon.

With a Zagat's food rating of 26, and on-line reviews fawning over the brussels sprouts, our expectations were sky high. It's too bad, because the food was great, but we kept waiting for that dish that was going to meet expectations, and it never came. Everything was delicious and interesting. Definitely worth a visit, probably more than once to try lots of different dishes. The service was disappointing. Our waitress kept trying to get us to order more food, even though we said we thought we had enough (we stuck with our plan and it was more than enough). She felt pushy. She took the wine list away while we were still looking at it, and then didn't come back to take our wine order until we flagged her down, when we were already finished with our appetizers. The main dining room is beautiful, but the room feels like an airport hanger it's so big. More fun for large groups with no expectation of being able to speak to anyone other than the person sitting next to you. The other dining room, where we were seated, is not as fun visually, and on our side of the table we sat staring at a plain white sheet covering the wall. We're fans of romantic lighting, but it's so dark that we had to use our phone lights to see what we were eating!

I love to splurge on restaurants when I travel, and my expectation of ililli should have been no exception. I had researched it for months and I was sold when it came up on the top 50 Zagat rated. I love flavor and to experience food of all cultures, actually I prefer ethnic cuisine. I was traveling with my daughter and side kick foodie, who was equally excited to dine there. However, our experience was the worst we have ever had. First off, we made reservations in plenty in time to have made the main dining room but rather, we were taken up to their 'addition' upstairs where we were packing in like sardines and so close to my neighbor, we were touching elbows. Not to mention the amiance was worse than my first apartment. The server was unprofessional and his only concern was in up selling everything without regard for his patrons tastes. The food was sub par and nothing more than a fast food version of Moroccan food. We were forgotten about so many times by the waiter, I forget we were there. Most of the food we picked at and left frustrated and shocked that something so well rated was so disastrous. I had lovely and amazing meals all week at the likes of Daniel's, Fig and Olive and Jean Georges. You'd be better off saving your money and flying to San Francisco to Aziza's.

Would highly recommend ilili - it's a fresh change from the typical dining experience; has a lively bar area; offers cuisine that possesses great flavors and is also quite healthy eating; has responsive staff and can accommodate anything from a table for 2 (or one!) - to a large group. The only real drawback can be the noise levels. Downstairs dining this can make having a conversation over dinner quite difficult. Suggest anyone wanting a bit more quiet request seating upstairs, on what is effectively an enclosed mezzanine level. It's definitely lower decibel up there - but even dining upstairs can be noise-challenged if there are one or two large groups. Net, they've sorted out everything for a lovely dining experience except the acoustics!

Had a great dinner at ilili with my husband and friends. Lauren was our server and she was simply amazing with her knowledge of the menu items and recommendations. We decided to go with the Mezza Royale and a few other side dishes. The food literally kept on flowing out and there were so many options to choose from and enjoy. I left with a full tummy and a smile on my face :) \nThe staff work really well together in ensuring all guests are happy and comfortable. Not once did we have to request for our water to be refilled because if Lauren was taking care of other guests, it was the floor manager or food runner coming around to refill our glasses. \nThe food was just perfection so I'm not even going to go into what you should order. EVERYTHING ON THE MENU IS DELICIOUS. If you close your eyes and blindly point at a dish on the menu, you've made the right choice! \nTheir prices are great and very competitive to other restaurants in their class category and for the service they provide and ambiance of their dining rooms, it's worth every penny. \nIf you're looking for a great restaurant with impeccable food and amazing service, ilili is the perfect place. As always, my eyes were way bigger than my tummy so I literally took a few bites of everything and asked to pack it up. Servers at other fine-dining restaurants would always roll their eyes at me when I did this to them but Cristina had everything packed up for me and even convinced me to order dessert to-go! I was in heaven at midnight eating my ilili chocolate bar and loving Cristina for it! I'm sure my thighs weren't too happy but that's fine :) \nI ordered the mixed grill for the first time and honestly I think I'm hooked on this dish. It's lamb chops, kofta, chicken and filet mignon cubes with veggies. The flavors were unbelievable and it's a good portion of food that can feed up to 2 people. The prices are so reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received .\nIf you still haven't been to ilili yet, please do yourselves a favor and make a reservation there. Food was good but not worth the price. Beware: if you don't say tap water it's $5 for each small pitcher. We couldn't hear our waiter properly (our fault for not clarifying the prices) and ended up being charged $25 just for water.

Everything I've had here has been delicious. Love whatever complimentary yogurt dip and crackers they bring out at the beginning. Delicious! Drinks are unique and fresh. My waiter did a great job of making me a non-sweet Phoenician lemonade. I hate sweet drinks! The falafel is crispy and amazing. Your can't go wrong with the mixed grill for two- really fed 3 with leftovers. I was a happy camper!

We had been invited to Ilili by a friend on our New York vacation two years ago and had been fascinated by the quality of the food. When we booked our trip to NY this time, we immediately made plans to go back there with friends. Just like the first time, the dinner was fantastic in all aspects - the food was delicious and the service was extremely good.\n\nWe would recommend Ilili to anybody who already loves libanese food or would like to give it a try. The menu has a great selection of vegetarian dishes but also offers a lot to those who like are looking for meat. \n\nOne specific recommendation: Unless you absolutely hate brussel sprouts, you should definitely try their version!

I LOVED ilili. I've been going there since 2009/2010 and I'm sad to see it's not the same as it used to be. They've cut corners and the presentation and the food portions have decreased since I was there a year ago! They even took off my favorite menu item, the lamb skewers off the menu. They made them smaller and now they are completely off! It seems like ilili went downhill with the rest of NYC late 2013. I'll still visit but not as much.

We started with cocktails and as our kids were with us, the waiter brought them a delicious fresh green lemonade with fresh cucumber, mint and ginger. The food is to die for. For a first course we had lettuce wraps with mouhamara & tabbouli with sour cherries in it, and pita with black iron shrimp, warm eggplant & garlic whip. For our main course we had roasted chicken and our waiter brought us rice and sautéed dandelion greens which he stirred into the drippings of the chicken and it was heavenly!!!

Ilili serves excellent food influenced by Lebanese cuisine. The menu is an accessible taste of the region for Westeners like myself, as is the wine list (by the glass and bottle) which boasts traditional, local, and Lebanese options. The special when I went was a branzino which was fileted at the table by the waitress. I'm glad I didn't get the fish, because our poor waitress spent about twenty minutes preparing it for each table that ordered it. I spent about half an hour waiting after dessert to get my check because the waitress was pulling double duty as a fish monger. Otherwise, the evening was great and I strongly recommend the cubed potatoes with za'atar seasoning, the lamb chops, and the candy bar. If you feel adventurous, go after the unusual Lebanese ice cream.

I must have walked past the place a million times, always thinking it was an Italian restaurant due to its name: Ilili. It wasn't until a friend mentioned it being Lebanese last week that I decided to give it a try. In a nutshell: the food is incredible. Every bite hit my level of expectations, if not better. We were a party of four, ordered six appetizers and the mixed grill platter, and now I want to go back and try all their other dishes as well. Really, seriously great food. A bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. The only downside - and I really mean downside - is the noise level. The space is vast, and there is absolutely no sound absorption. Since there are many large groups always seated in the main hall, their yelling and screaming is being amplified by the glass panels and concrete walls to a degree that can be deafening. We were four people seated at a smaller table, but making conversation was difficult with the noise and the music playing on top of it. Our waitress was very helpful assisting with a few food sensitivities. However, it was difficult getting a hold of her. Perhaps she had too many tables to tend to.

We had dinner this past Friday night -- it was a party of four. We arrived and had a drink at the bar. Bartenders were very friendly and greeted us in a timely fashion. We then went to our table and shared several appetizers -- the tuna, baba ganouche, and Brussels sprouts. All were quite good and the bread served was also fresh and warm.\n\nThe main courses the table had included, chicken, lamb and fish. All were good and the ingredients fresh although I think we all liked the appetizers better. We didn't get to look at the wine list as we ordered by the glass.\n\nNoise level was reasonable and the service was good. As is all too customary, the serving staff did not know which dish went where. \n\nI would go back....something different.

I had a few major issues with my dining experience. First, the food. My food was extremely dry- almost inedible. I did tell the waitress and they gave us free baklava, but I wouldn't return based on the food alone. It was too expensive for the flavor to be so lacking. I was also one of three and no one particularly enjoyed their food. I had been there before and remember really liking it- so I'm not sure what happened. Second, the noise and lighting. It is great for a first or second date. But it's way too dark and loud. I'm young also- so I don't generally take issue with either of these things. Lastly, the service. While it was ok-- our waitress was out of touch. But the waiter next to our table seemed to be great- so maybe hit or miss there.

This was my second trip to ilili! I came back with a friend after a theatre performance because of how wonderful our first visit was. Unfortunately, after some great drinks at the bar, we were seated and promptly ignored by our server. We waited over ten minutes to be greeted after she had attended to other customers who were seated after us. When the server arrived her demeanor was detached and disinterested. Her mood improved throughout the night, but we were initially put off and it dampened our enjoyment. Predictably the food was amazing--we got the labne, hummus, mouhamara, and baba ghanouj. All were sensational. After that we got the perfectly seasoned and cooked mixed grill, with succulent cubes of beef, lamb chops, chicken, and other delicacies. All in all it was a good visit despite a rocky start with the service.

As we were arrived for our table for two we were escorted past the lovely main dining room, through the fun, vibrant bar, up the back stairs, past the secondary, but pleasant dining room, around the corner to an alcove that they had crammed with ~ 8 tables and dressed up to look as if it was the inside of a Bedouin tent. Ilili is the best Lebanese restaurant in NYC. My family is Lebanese so I'm a tough judge when it comes to delicious Lebanese cuisine and Ilili most definitely met my standards. Highlights are the tabbouleh (so green and perfect - not a lot of bulghur as it should be), the kibbeh (incredible flavor and texture), the brussel sprouts (although not typically Lebanese but prepared with what I think were pomegranates) and of course the lebneh and babbaghanouj. I wish their desserts included more typical Lebanese pastries such as Maamoul, they did serve us baklava at our request (wasn't included on the menu). The service was excellent as well. Attentive and all the dishes/mezze were timed well. Highly recommend Ilili for a big group as well!

Arrived right on time for our reservation at 12:30. There was only one other table seated at the time. We were told we had to wait in the lounge for the hostess to seat us. Fifteen minutes later, our party of four was taken to a table for five in the still empty restaurant. We were seated at a table at the entrance to the main dining room. We asked to be seated away from the entry way and the hostess actually said the other tables were reserved- obviously not the case. We had to ask that the fifth place setting be removed, And later the fifth chair so we could converse easier.\nAsked if we wanted sparkling water, we declined, but were charged $10 for two bottles of water. When I inquired about the charge, I was told we were served filtered water and should have asked for tap water. On further inquiring, I learned both the tap water and the filtered water came from the same source - Ilili's kitchen! Talk about nickel dimming.\nThree of the four of us got the mid-week lunch special which consisted of a meze item to share and, in our case, falafel wraps. One of the items chosen was their French fries. It would have been nice if the waitress had mentioned that fries were served with the falafels so we could have chosen a different appetizer.\nI ordered a brussel sprout appetizer -which was recommended and enjoyed by all- and the kebbeh nayeh. I said I preferred lot on the spicy side and was told it was prepared in a large batch, but I could have some harisa on the side. I later noted a $2 charge for the harisa. A minor charge, but annoying just the same -much like the unexpected water charge.\nBeing of Lebanese decent, I did not need instructions on how Arabians eat Kibbeh, but I admit it was a nice touch. In all fairness, it did not need the harisa and was probably the best kibbeh I have ever had in a restaurant.\nI think Lebanese people are the most welcoming and warm people on the planet. So, I was disappointed in the vibe here, but, overall, the food was quite good.

Bottom line: next time we'll go really, really early and order the mega-meze spread, then leave. The service was gracious (we asked to move to a different table when a particularly shrill group of 8 landed next to us, and were accommodated), and the appetizers were great. We ordered five for four people and should have ordered more, possibly skipping the mains, which were mainly good but, typically, less interesting. One of us ordered what promised, from the name, to be his favorite dish (semolina gnocchi), but they bore no resemblance to those found in Italy and were, by any standard, pretty bad. He accepted responsibility for ordering emotionally, but still. We were in the middle room between the ghetto of deuces (quieter?) and the bar. The noise level, even discounting the shriekers we had fled, would probably keep us from returning, except maybe for a late lunch.

I came here on a highly anticipated first date. I found ilili on Gayout.com and it was recommended as a top ten pick for romantic settings. My date and I very much enjoyed the ambiance and food. I did feel somewhat neglected by my waittress whom I constantly had to look for. Usually, I do not care about such matters. However, that night it was quite noticeable. I would like to give ilili another try and would recommend it to a friend.

I was excited to meet a few of my girlfriends for dinner here as it had been recommended to me and the reviews were good. Although the food was very good, it just seemed over priced. The restaurant was large and roomy - like a ballroom - and it lacked ambiance. I'd say it's a much better setting for a business dinner.

I love Lebanese food and was looking forward to Ilili. Unfortuanately, I was unimpressed. Fatoush Salad, which I love, was drenched in red wine vinegar without a hint of mint or lemon. The humus was uninteresting and the schwarma was tough. I won't be back.

This is a Lebanese restaurant with an modern twist to it. I would definitely recommend this place to foreigners who want to try something different and delicious. The food is great and they service some interesting drinks. However, note that Lebanese people may consider this place slightly pricey and nonconventional as the prices and dishes differ from what is normally charged at a traditional Lebanese place. I personally loved it and definitely recommend it to anyone willing to try something new and great!

We came here for restaurant week and loved the ambiance downstairs, but were seated upstairs which was nice for two people, and not too loud. Downstairs is more for lively groups and conversations. The appetizers were excellent (especially the chicken gizzard) but I was a little disappointed by the main lamb dish, which was a bit dry and not as savory. I'm not sure if the flavors just didn't complement each other from course-to-course since the chicken gizzard was very flavorful, but I wish the lamb was better. The dessert I chose was very unique with the sweet liquid poured over, but just incredibly sweet so I only had a few bites. Overall, good and I would recommend it but not during restaurant week.

The dining room was also lovely and the wait staff was well-timed and friendly. The mixed drinks and wine were equally as good and affordable. Every dish we had was incredibly delicious except the hummus which was very tasty but a just little too thin for our liking. This is the second time that I have been to ilili, and it was excellent both times. We were a group of five, celebrating my daughter's birthday, so we started by ordering several different appetizers which we shared, so that we could try as much as possible. I usually don't like Hummus, but their's is fantastic! We had the Brussel Sprouts, which were delicious; and we had the Phoenician Fries (spicey 'French' fries) and the Duck Egg. The Duck Egg is excellent, but very rich. My favorite dish was the Duck Shawarma, which was wonderful. My son had the Octopus, which he loved (but I don't like Octopus any way it comes). As my main course, I had the Diver Scallops, which I had before, and are delicious. All the dishes were great, and I plan to go back for the Duck Shawarma.

I love Ilili as a restaurant, period. Food and service are always excellent. \n\nThis is a NYE review:\n- Service was a bit spotty. The worst part really was that they didn't time the meal well. They brought out the main course (lamb, which was sadly very tough), just before the ball drop, then they set off confetti which subsequently got all over our food and into our drinks; so really we had no main course. \n\nOtherwise, a well organized event, not crowded (no one stepping all over you). no line for the bathrooms. Good music and bellydancer entertainment.\n\nI'm not sure the difference between the prefix meal for NYE and regular seating. I would suggest a regular seating as the pre-fix menu was not stellar and their regular food is fantastic.

My sister was visiting from CT and ilili always treats me like VIP...they treat everyone like VIP! And that's why we keep coming back! \nWe made dinner reservations for 7:15, arrived a few minutes late and they seated us right away. They know I prefer the dining room on the 2nd floor - it's just so much cozier with plush couches along the walls - so of course that's now where I'm seated whenever I come in :)\nNasser was our server and he was simply amazing! He found out it was my sisters first time there so he went through the entire menu for her with recommendations along the way and eventually we just went with his recommendations. \nEverything was beyond delicious. She tried her first veal bacon atayif and went cross-eyed because she never tried atayif in a savory way, only sweet. Oh yeah, it's that good! Another dish at the top of our list were the brussel sprouts. I'm a sprout lover and she's an, I love you and I'll take your word for it if you say it's good, so I'll give it a try. She went from reluctantly taking her first bite of the brussel sprouts to placing the entire bowl in front of her, not letting me have anymore because I can come back whenever I want but she doesn't know the next time she'll be back! HA! I love it! I don't remember the name of the dish but it has grapes and walnuts in it and it's one of their best sellers. We also had the lamb chops, kofta with Lebanese rice, citrus salad, hummus and I'm sure 1 or 2 other dishes I can't remember. Thankfully it was a Sunday night and the table next to us was still empty so they put them together for us. I usually like ordering a bunch of mezzas (small plates) and 1 main dish to share and it works great!\nI love coming to ilili and can't wait to bring my mother in next time. She's finally willing to come into the city now because of how much my sister was raving about the food...and Nasser too! :) he HAS to be my server when I bring my mom in. I will make sure I don't make my reservation on his night off!

It was my partners birthday, and they gave us delicious baklava as a compliment. \nOn the other hand, as a person coming from Turkey and travelled around the Middle East, I have some doubts about the authenticity of the restaurant. Decor has nothing to do with Lebanon. Music was contemporary pop with fast tunes. Again, nothing Lebanese here. \nRestaurant was too noisy. We had difficulty in hearing each other. We sat at the small dining room. I guess every reservation for 2 sits there. It was small and very close to other people. Tables are small too. It was not comfortable. \n. We ordered mixed grill. Such a shame that we had a bad experience, because the food itself was really delicious. Very homey, traditional lebanese/Mediterranean fare with a touch of refinement. Our server was nice enough, but not very knowledgeable. The ambiance was decent, nothing too exciting or unique. My only complaint was that my reservation was for a party of 7. We were all there and got seated even a bit early which was great, but we were waiting for the last guest for a long time. Once I had finally reached her on the phone it turns out she had asked the hostess multiple times to join our party. The hostess denied that there was any reservation under the name (which was obviously not true, as I had walked in around the same time asked to join the same party and had been taken to the table promptly. The guest said the hostess was incredibly rude, unhelpful, unwilling to investigate. Eventually she gave up, deciding it must have been the wrong restaurant or time. The manager eventually came over and offered a dessert for free which was peculiar because none of us had said anything about our friend being turned away -she must have know the hostess had mistakenly turned her away and tried to rectify the situation with a complimentary dessert. nice gesture but obviously not enough of an apology or 'fix' for my taste. on principle, must say I won't be going back or recommending to anyone.

I brought my friends here about a fee days ago. It was thier first time. They loved the food and the restaurant itself. They were impressed with the architect. They only thing we all did not like was, we felt that we were being rushed. I made reservations for 11:18 pm. It's a bit late, I understand but the option was there. I guess because they were closing shortly after out food arrived they were in a rush to clear our table. One waiter in particular did not ask if we were finished with our plates, utensils etc. He just took them away. My friends and I agreed that was a rude. \n\nOver all, it was a great experience for my friends and I.

I've been here several times for both lunch and dinner.\nIt is reliable and delicious.\nWe had a wonderful server in Nasir.\nWe had perfectly prepared hummus and an incredibly delicious parsley and green salad .\nWe also had the lamb sausage and a grilled cauliflower with lebne that were also delectable.\nFor dessert the Soufflé was light and wonderful with a sumptuous crime anglaise.\nI'll be back ASAP!

The ambience was very warm and nice. I had made a reservation online for my party of 8, and wrote a note that we are coming in to celebrate my husbands new job. The food is delectable and the server was very attentive, but what happened next made our night. To my pleasent surprise, our server - Patrick- had received that note and was nice enough to bring over congratulatory sweets for my husband post dinner. He was so thrilled and I was surprised by the gesture. \n\nDefinitely going back for the great service.

The food is great, and the choices fit a wide range of dietary preferences. The serves is efficient and the waiters are friendly. The only draw back is the noise level. Between the music and the noise coming from nearby diners' tables, it becomes very difficult to carry on any conversation on your own table. You will have to scream, or simply give up on conversations and tune into next tables conversation. It seems that the noise reduction treatment of the place is not helping either - lots of glass panels, which l assume would vibrate back all the noise.

Too many changes on the menu. Wish this chef would stop messing with things that are the whole reason we go to ilili in the first place. The changes he makes aren't great. Even when we have sent feedback through their website they don't even acknowledge anything was sent. Service was way slow today (server was great but everything was slow and wasn't her fault). We spoke to a manager there who had a tone because she didn't like what we were saying as suggestions/feedback on the food. Oh and btw the scones were really over-baked, the cheese rolls were over-fried and not enough cheese in them, and they messed with the chocolate bar and made it really blah. On the way out that same manager just didn't even bother to thank us for our visit. Sad to be writing a mediocre review since I love this place.

Went for a brunch and opted for the price fixed menu. Lamb burger was excellent. Medium rare is the perfect way to enjoy it. The lamb dip sandwich was a bit gamey. I would also recommend the veal bacon and the batata harra. Service was a bit slow but very friendly.

ilili was a perfect dining experience for my 3 friends and me. We were seated upstairs (normally I wouldn't love that, BUT I was catching up with people I hadn't seen in awhile, so - it was nice to be out of the main dining space). We ordered the brussel sprouts (TO DIE FOR!!!) highly recommend, hommus and mousaka - all were perfect appetizers. The Phoenician fries were great - the dipping sauce that was served with them was very delicious. The duck shawarma was very delicious as well! We enjoyed Paumanok wine from Long Island which was also very delicious - great wine list available here!

Beautiful restaurant with a lot of energy. Met at the front desk by a hostess who very rudely put us to one side while another hostess organized a table for us. We chose the meze option and found 5 courses was more then enough for two people. The hommus with shrimp and pine nuts and the fried kibbeh were the pick, closely followed by the black iron shrimp. The Kebab Kerez wasn't a kebab at all and it was swimming in a very sweet sauce. The service was good.

Having booked weeks in advance we were shown to the worst table in the house, \nthe food is very good and the service was excellent\nI was charged the incorrect amount for the wine ordered and of course it was for the $75 and not the $45 bottle ordered.

Excellent food, perfect cocktails, very good service, a little too loud for the occasion (my mom's 70th birthday) but that's not Ililli's fault -- I probably should have done a little more homework. She had a great time either way.

They sat us at a table at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen. There. I got the negatives out of the way. The rest of our experience at Ilili was stunning. Every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared and presented. Our server provided excellent suggestions and advice. The wine list is well curated and both it and the food menu appropriately pay homage to the subtle distinctions in the variety of cuisines from the broader Middle East region they feature. Wholeheartedly recommended.

The food was delicious and the service great! I do think that the prices of the meals were overestimated. I had the kafta, which was $22, but it should have been maybe 12 or 13 dollars because of the portion size. Granted the ambiance is very romantic and tasteful, so that meal in particular would probably be worth $16/18 max. The drinks ranged from $15-18. If the food was better portioned and the drinks maybe $2 or $3 cheaper, then I'd make this place a favorite!

Wonderful restaurant design with equally wonderful food. Good place to take visitors to the city who appreciate exotic food. The menu provides enough options so someone can always find something that they'll want. It's a little noisy so it may not be the place for an intimate experience. I love the Brussels sprouts that they are famous for.

My family is Lebanese so we always enjoy a night at ilili, as it is the best Lebanese restaurant in New York. With that said, we had an exceptional experience last night with our waiter, Angel. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the cuisine, making sure to pair certain flavors and wine rather than brining all of the small plates out at once. He explained he favorite ways of eating certain dishes and suggested additions to our order that seemed to complement our meal perfectly. Angel was wonderful and we hope to dine with him again!!

I took my boyfriend for lunch to ilili for 'Restaurant Week.' As they tend to be quite expensive, I thought this would have been a cost effective option to enjoying their amazing food. Restaurant Week lunches are supposed to be $25 per person, so I didn't anticipate paying more that $70 (assuming the extra cost of a drink plus tax and tip). In the end my bill was closer to $90. Pretty shocking considering only one drink was ordered during the meal ($9 beer). Turns out, there was a surcharge for several of the items listed on the Restaurant Week menu. Had I known what a poor value the Restaurant week menu was going to be, I would have just ordered off the regular menu and not have had any price expectations. I will say again, the food was amazing and the restaurant was quite beautiful, clean and well staffed. However, my boyfriend commented on the way out, 'we could have eaten the same food from a street cart and have paid a fraction of the cost.'

Keen to explore New York's restaurants during Restaurant Week with my daughter who was visiting from college, I asked her to select from the list of restaurants and menus listed online. Instantly enticed by the 'lamb dip,' her first choice was ilili. The 4-½ star rating appealed to me as well. We both had the $25 lunch prix fixe. The appetizers were acceptable but not outstanding (moussaka and ground nuts, similar to but thicker than hummus- I don't have time to review the menu for the exact name-anyway it was too thick and dry). I had falafel and she had the anticipated lamb. What a disappointment. We could hardly finish the glorified wraps. The best part of the meal were the desserts- a clotted cream something and a layered cake with nuts. Delicious. Overall, though, it felt like a rip-off having mediocre wraps and sandwiches when other restaurants offered much more quality for the same price.

The food here is always excellent and never disappoints. There is a lot of variety on the menu (including for vegetarians) and each dish is full of flavour. Unfortunately the service went downhill for me afelter i asked for 'extra' mayonnaise that came with a dish - is that not allowed?!

On paper, Ilili's Restaurant Week menu looked great, but it turned out to be disappointing. The food quality ranged from satisfactory to good. Entree and dessert portion sizes were tiny. For example, the diver scallops entree came with three medium-sized scallops, despite a $6 supplement. Yet another NYC Restaurant Week ripoff.
