frienldy staff;good ambiance
friendly informal atmosphere
we found the staff very welcoming and helpful in fact remembered use from a previous visit earlier in the year.i would not hesitate to recomend this hotel
welcoming and friendly, the room was quiet and the bed was comfortable and there was a good choice of breakfasts - I will be going back. I didn't much like the wall paper, but hey I was only there one night
We found the owners polite and welcoming, the place decorated to a high standard, the facilities were very good and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel had a very good vibe. No, it exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Excellent choice of breakfast, we paid extra as booking was for the room only. Room very comfortable En Suite very small
nice people, very central, enjoyed our stay No nothing - though i could imagine difficulty with parking spaces
Room modern, and clean. The shower shoehorned into a closet was a bit disconcerting. And I don't appreciate being served instant coffee at breakfast.
Very comfortable and homely b&b, being on my own I wanted to be somewhere with a personal feel to it and that is what I found.I Would stay there again.
very comfortable bed, and very clean rooms. no tea/coffee facilities in room
no tea and coffee facilaties in room
It is in an ideal location for visiting the racecourse and only a short walk to the town centre. The room quality and the service standard does not come up to the rates charged.
Reception & restaurant staff very helpful Prices for bar drinks & pots of tea & coffee etc too expensive by far. A pot of tea was nearly £9.00. Automatic addition of 10% service charges even on breakfast was ridiculous. I don't mind by tips too staff but I object to it being paid to the Hotel owner.
Excellent breakfasts. Friendliness of the staff and owner. Comfortable room. Superb location, close to Pittville Park and the town centre. Ideally placed for the Cheltenham Town football ground. Few hangers; requested more, which didn't appear. Loo seat needed fixing; pointed it out and nothing happened. Shower bath: shower unavoidably covered floor of bathroom with water when used. Extract fan not working.
We thought the hotel was in a lovely position, very close to the shops. Excellent rooms, beds and bathrooms. Very relaxing and luxurious No irons in the room which would of been useful as we were only staying one night. Also we did feel that the hotel was aimed at the more upper class customer, and I think it would be nice if they could make all customers feel equally welcome. However was still a lovely place for a luxury break.
Nice location, great staff, well appointed. They lost our reservation but it was sorted out after a number of phone calls.
very good location very uncomfortable hard mattress, noise of passing traffic. found it unacceptable to be asked if we wanted a tip to be included in our hotel bill when our card transaction was processed. twin "superior" room it certainly was not. it had a double bed, not twin beds & certainly was not "superior"
The hotel is in a pleasant riverside location with a lovely view of Ross-on-Wye. We found the staff very friendly and the breakfast, for which there was an extensive choice, was superb. We would have liked to eat in and have no doubt that the evening meals are excellent but they are quite expensive. Because we were both feeling 'under the weather' with very heavy colds we chose not to eat there.
The food and the location Response from receptionist when I requested the room I had booked, as opposed to the room I had been given; She pointed out I had not paid very much! I did however get another room. The lack of privacy in the bathroom - I do think that bathroom windows should be covered with something, a gap of 4/5 inches below a venetian blind is not appropriate on clear glass, particularly when the room in question is at the front of the hotel on the main road.
Excellent Food. The Hotel has obviously seen better days and is in a state of decline. Advertises 4 Poster Beds but there were no Canopies, not quite the real thing
We arrived too late to really benefit but I would certainly go again. We arrived at 11.00 p.m. I was travelling with a business colleague and we would have valued a drink or coffee in a public room before going to bed but everything was closed - perhaps an insulated coffee pot and tray could have been left in the breakfast room for us .
Little "extras" from the chef! They gave us fruit, biscuits, milk etc after we had gone out to fetch our own! If they had told us to expect it we would have been fully satisfied.
The new receptionist was welcoming. The view from bedroom windows of Wilton Castle and River Wye were lovely. The pretty town centre of Ross on Wye was within walking distance. Several small details contributed to an air of lack of care for something that was advertised as 4 star with a "superior" bedroom. A little disappointing.
Excellent food and wines
Food and wine were excellent
The room was nice and the location good - restaurant excellent but a bit pricey There was an awful lot of traffic noise
