About Ozumo - Newport Beach
Owner and visionary Jeremy James Umland's passion for the Japanese culture and cuisine grew from spending 15 years there and playing professional baseball. Umland's passion combines with San Francisco's Chef Ketsuo Nagasawa's knowledge and interpretation of Japanese cuisine with sound and precise execution to bring the unique and profound Ozumo experience to the guests. The visually dramatic interior of the Ozumo concepts incorporates the four major materials found in Japanese design and architecture: wood, paper, steel and stone.
Our Newport Beach location will feature a Kotatsu private dining room with seating for 14, which includes an exclusive Japanese garden. Ozumo also has availability for private groups up to 65 guests. We feature a sushi bar and a robata bar, seating near the chefs who are grilling on a traditional Japanese charcoal grill, as well as a sake lounge to quench your thirst at happy hour, or satisfy your craving for late night indulgence.
