10.0 Excellent
Pros: We received an exceptionally warm welcome from both Matt and Clare, they're really accommodating and can assist with restaurant reservations and advise on local walks. Our room overlooking the campsite was spotless, the bed was very comfortable and there was ample storage space for longer stays. We appreciated the thoughtful touches such as tasty homemade rocky road, an alexa, a good quality hairdryer, a grooming kit and fresh milk available to help yourself to in the hallway. Breakfast was delicious with an extensive range of continental options followed by a full English. Brilliant veggie options and Clare was really helpful catering to my nut allergy. Everything was sourced as locally as possible and tasted beautifully fresh; the poached eggs were the best I've ever had! The location is idyllic as it's a mere 15 minute walk to Asygarth Falls and Colman's of Asygarth is a brilliant base from which to explore the Dales. There are a number of good pubs within walking distance too, I'd wholeheartedly recommend staying!

Cooked breakfast and thick sliced toast kept us going all day. We were shown to our room which was really well presented and in the bathroom we had a really huge shower. Everything was clean and the bed linen had a lovely fragrant smell. The views from the room are brilliant and the velux in the ceiling gives a view to the stars and night sky. After a very peaceful night's sleep we were treated to a lovely breakfast which included home made granola, cakes and lemon curd together with a full English made with local produce. Pros: We stayed for two nights and loved every minute of our stay. Fabulous location and a brilliant base for exploring the stunning local countryside. Spacious room with a very comfy bed. Nice bath for relaxing after a day's walking. Loved the view of Middleham Market Place from our room, we enjoyed watching the racehorses coming and going to the gallops. Delicious breakfast with both continental and cooked to enjoy, I had The eggs Benadict one morning then the cooked breakfast the next morning which were both delicious. Great facilities nearby with a small shop for basics just round the corner. Great local pubs and restaurants nearby - The Wensleydale Heifer at West Witton, The Blue Lion at East Witton both amazing, quite pricey but certainly worth it for a special occasion. We also ate at The Richard III which was very reasonable and you won't leave hungry - big plates of homecooked food. Our hosts Martin and Linda were lovely and we really enjoyed chatting with them. We are looking forward to staying again in the future!

Pros: Excellent stay at Lindmar House in August. Brilliant location overlooking Middleham square and great viewpoint to see horses riding up to the Gallops. (Room 3). House had everything you could hope for, spacious yet so cosy, really comfy beds, hard to get out of but for the promise of the tastiest Yorkshire breakfast. Daily treats left in room was a lovely touch too. Visit to the in house shop is a must, lots of local crafts to buy as reminders of a wonderful stay, including those beautiful felt animals created by Linda, so full of character and charm. No wonder really, as hosts Linda and Martin were absolutely charming themselves, full of local knowledge, humour, and advice, and always happy to help. Thank you for such a brilliant stay! This is an excellent location for visiting the Dales, Leyburn is a delightful town with all amenities - check out the wonderful wine store (Campbell's) for a wonderful selection of sherries/madeiras/whiskies as well as wines. Although Clyde House doesn't have private parking it was easy to park in the nearby Pay and Display car park and very reasonable prices too. Visit the Garden Centre next to the heritage railway station a short easy stroll from the town centre and don't miss the chance to go to the Garden Rooms at Tennant's auction house premises - take in any concert on offer (our reason for being there) and view any free exhibitions (another reason for our being there - exhibition of quilts) or examples of items coming up for auction. Clyde House is a delightful place to stay, spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, nothing too much trouble , welcomed with homemade biscuits and fresh milk - no horrid UHT milk here! Comfortable beds, crisp white cotton bedding, clean towels every day. Then the breakfast!!! No lunch needed and almost no other meal all day either - great choice of cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt, fruit juice and cooked breakfast par excellence - beautiful bacon, sausages and all the trimmings and eggs cooked to perfection however you like them - smoked haddock and poached eggs on offer not to mention kippers, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and equally good provision for vegetarian guests - all local suppliers named.
