Great location. Friendly staff. great room. All extars very expensive - eg breakfast or to have a drink in the bar (22 euros for one cognac !)
Beautiful hotel, good location, very friendly and efficient staff. The hydrotherapy pool is lovely
Nice adjacent restaurant. Clean room with an bit odd, but original, design. Clearly visible that the hotel was renovated last year. Noise level in the room was a bit high due to the busy road outside.
Very accomodating, not too big and felt personal. The service is exceptional and the spa is a must-do.
great hotel ,great design , nothing
Beautiful design, good location for shopping The air conditioner didn't work well, it was very hot when we arrived at evening time. I called the reception two times, they promised to come and do something but they didn't, so we suffered the very hot room even in autumn time, +17 degree outside. They only fix it in the next morning.
The hotel seems over-rated. It gives you the feeling of being old or overused or at least not well taken care of. Beyond the intention of design...some of the fittings seem...cheap... Plus, the idea of having the bathtub in the room could be special, but it is not practical. The lights are also not thought in a practical way...
Food and Hotel were gorgeous. WiFi 7E for 30 mins in reception! No WiFi in bedrooms. Should be free in bedrooms.
the roses all around the place no service after 12 a.m. :(
The Incredible architecture, fantastic staff and superb rooms.
You can hear everything in the corridor. not good service at all. horrible breakfast
The staff was polite, funny and spoke perfect English. The manager worked like crazy to help out at the breakfast. We were impressed. The rooms! They're fine but there was absolutely no where to put anything. Our room had one lawn chair. It was weird. It all feels a little too Miami Vice with the colors. Felt slightly Miami-ish/Golden Girls. Bottom floor was noisy with window open.
staff was friendly no maintenance in the evening.
Super helpful staff
the friendlyness of the staff at the reception desk The rooms were not cleaned adequately every day, sheets were not changed and soap was not restocked every day. Also, internet access was a rip off pricewise.
Great location - quite close to train station. Clean hotel and had a room with a balcony overlooking Rue Jean Medicin. Friendly staff. Nothing in particular.
The hotel was very central and most of the staff were excellent. One guy was very rude. We only had one key for a shared room.Could not access the iron in evening before dinner and the receptionist did not do his best for us to get it. he was very abrupt saying they did not have one.The hairdryer was antiquated.very old and useless.need replacing.
The location to the shopping district. I think the decor and carpeting could be updated.
upon checking in we reported the bed linen being dirty, it was noted and told it can only be tended to the next day, the next day the roomstaff still did not change it. I certainly won't stay at this hotel neither recomend it
The hotel is very well located Staff at the reception could have been more helpful
the ubication was excellent, the hotel is modern and the personal was very nice
best price in offpeak season.
the location of the hotel was convenient to both the train station and old town. the accomodations were fairly typical of that level hotel. the staff was friendly and helpful, particularly when i had issues making an international call - the front desk attendant went further than i would have expected to help me make that call. i was a bit surprised when i asked for restaurant recommendations that i was sent all the way to old town. when i asked for something closer, i was advised to go to the restaurants immediately next door, not because of their quality but because it was a "What the heck, they're decent and they are next door" issue. i guess i would appreciate the hotel having a few quality restaurants in the immediate vicinity that they recommend to their guests who don't want to walk all the way to old town for a meal.
Good location, reasonable price Wifi reception was poor
The place where the hotel is situated. (Location). The bed was small and hard.
it's amaizing, in the middel of the center of Nice, the best staff and the prise is very good for that location.
the staff are helpful and the location is convenient Basic room, but not really expecting too much. Price of Petit-Dejuener was such that I didn't bother to have any.
Nice, comfortable, clean, good central posizion, excellent staff.
Internet was not available in the room, there is no elevator in the part of the hotel I stayed - at least they could have offered to carry our baggages to the room.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The storage of luggage if waiting for your room or a late flight. The hotel stacks the luggage in the breakfast room which is open to anyone. It would be safer if locked away.
Well positioned geographically and staff were very good - always polite, courteous and helpful. It did not appear to have bar facilities.
Good, central location. If you are given room in the worse part of the hotel (we were) - no wi fi, no lift and zero noise protection - you can easily hear what TV channel your neighbour is watching.
clean, comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff, excellent location
I like the garden and the exterior architecture. I appreciate that the manager made me a small discount for not having air conditioning in the last day of the sejour. The staff promised three times they will provide me parking place with no result. No one of the receptionist was able to explain me how is the wireless internet working. The breakfast is very poor for the money you pay.
proximity to train station difficult street access; lack of nearby parking
close to train station, reasonable price, walkable distance to many sight-seeing points... cramped washrooms...
Very pleasant and friendly staff at the frontdesk. They provided maps and info about the city when we checked in. None.
friendly & helpfull staff. & 200m from main rail station & airport bus stop. no
No Free wifi
Convenience to the City and the rail station. NA
very close to the train station, quick 5-10 min walk to the beach breakfast was horrible, the room was tiny and the reception staff not overly helpful. they charge extra to secure your belongings in a safe and extra to store your luggage after checkout
The location was perfect, right around the corner of the mainshopping street. Rooms were very French romantic, though could do with some polishing. Normal price is 200 a night, via booking only 60.
It is a good hotel and the proximity to the rail station is its strong point. Not very far from the promenade too.
The friendliness of the hotel staff, they could not have been nicer especially when we were delayed returning home. The room was excellent and it was kept clean amd the maid service was excellent.
The location is the only thing that is positive about this hotel, nothing else was positive during my stay The room was just dreadful. I stayed in room 317, and if you ever get this one when checking-in, try your best to get another one. The room looks like it wasn't meant to be a guest room. Apart from being very small, it is very dirty, most of the furniture is ugly and partly destroyed. You can tell that the Brice hotel hasn't spent a single euro in refurbishments over the past 20 years. The bed cover had cigarette holes and was particularly dirty, the small desk was sticky and must haven't seen a sponge for years, the chair is in a very, very bad shape, etc. By far one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in Europe.
Friendly & helpful team of staff. Good size room Good choice of breakfast Sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable
Enjoyed to quiet location, large cheerful rooms, delicious breakfast, relaxed atmosphere
We enjoyed the air conditioning and friendly staff
Value for money, Location
Location rusty water, hair on the bed, poor breakfast
It was situated in a lovely area of Nice. The garden was the main attraction. Also very peaceful.
Location. Excellent breakfast. Good size room. No towel racks in bathroom. Portable fridge to use dumped in a corner on the floor. Plenty of coffee and tea but only two nimbles of latte.
The vicinity to the beach. The hotel couldn't accept credit cards because their machine wasn't working. We had to pay by cash for 6 nights (which came out of our holiday spending money), the annoying part, however, was that we weren't advised until we were checking out, so it was very inconvenient. Also, there was no mini bar in the room (fridge especially) so we couldn't keep our own drinks cool.
Staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was very good. Beds were comfortable. Availability of computer in the lobby for internet use was very helpful for re-booking flights and trains given the train/plane cancellations caused by the strikes. Meant we didnt have to go out and search for an internet cafe to access the net. Not everyone carries a laptop/ I pad with them so having a computer to access on site was very useful! The superior rooms were clean and comfortable but small. Could possibly be improved in terms of being re-decorated. Re decorating would render the rooms I stayed in more asthetically pleasing. Also sometimes the rooms were too warm at night. Air conditioning is too noisy when its put on as is leaving a window open. This is a general problem with most hotels, not just the Mercure!
Kept clean and reception staff friendly and helpful
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, breakfasts were good and breakfast staff were excellent, they couldn't do too much for you. Rooms were clean. Ideal for shopping and business alike. Sparse room amenities. Poor decor in bathroom
Location great just two minutes from main restaurants, yet in a quiet street. Friendly and excellent quality and cleanliness. All in all a great stay and would definitely go back or recommend it. Tea and coffee facilities would be good
the location is good, close to shopping area, old Nice, public transportation very small sized rooms with old decor and furniture, unfriendly staff, no minibar
The hotel is decent for a three-star. We chose this hotel because it was pet-friendly. The room was decent if a bit drab and the location was good. We found the front desk people extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, which was a damper on our whole experience. With many hotels in Nice, one should consider others in the area.
The location was perfect great resteraunts nearby
Good Location, Helpful staff, Comfortable Hotel Bad odour coming from the sink tap.
The location is very good, room is charming original and quiet :-) ... the rooms look a little bit 'tired' they need a 'botox treatment' ;-)
The outdorr breakfast terrace
Breakfast in the garden air conditioning not great
We have stayed in this hotel many times before. As always, the staff, facilities and comfort were excellent. Hotel is ideally situated
The room was bright and well designed, also the location was convenient. The shower caused a flood in bathroom everytime we used.
Nice rooms, imaginative decor, pleasant staff. No complaints.
Location and staff were excellent room a bit tired, not as 'design/arty' as expected
The garden was lovely and the staff were exceptional. They were very helpful and friendly. The pool was cold and the breakfast was quite expensive. We would have also liked a cover on our beds not just a blanket.
Nice atmosphere, family style - great garden. Nice staff. The bed was a bit small, internet worked only part of the time.
Friendly reception staff. Excellent location
We found the staff in both the reception and 8th floor bar extremely helpful, friendly and very smiling (a characteristic not previously noted at many French Hotels). We had to make a number of reservations (other hotelsd, golf clubs, business meeting, taxis and hotels and the reception staff simply said ''leave it to us'' Upon return to the hotel everything was perfectly arranged. The 8th floor bar has a good selection of drinks. .I would definitely recommend this hotel and will personally stay there agin on my next trip to nice nice. I I had any negative comments I would say that in the 8th floor bar they could have more selection of snacks and serve them at all hours
the location is strategic, good set-up, excellent breakfast offer. we had pleasant stay there. definitely a serious consideration whenever we visit Nice again in the future
walking distance to shopping area and beach
Great location - less than 10mins walk to main train station. Supermarkets and bakeries close by. Not that far to walk to the old town either. Tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Staff helpfulness and courtesy n/a
Staff very friendly and keen to help Safe area Convient to Train station (5 - 10 minute walk)
large rooms, enough space and clean nothing
The breakfast was very good with lots of variety, it has good location, short walk from the train station and right in the middle of a shopping street. We were quite disappointed with our room, it is very old-fashioned and we had a small tv. It looks very different to the pictures they presented on the website, and for the price we paid, we expected a better room. The pool on the roof top was nice, but it was too cold to swim even with 25 degrees weather, would be better if it is heated.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was conveniently located next to shopping area and close to transport for the airport.
Afternoon coffee and rolls was nice. Street side of hotel is too noisy. Prospective guests need to understand that. I wouldn't pay this much again for such a noisy setting. Breakfast is far too expensive.
Location Garden Facilities
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and refreshingly 'unstuffy' for hotel staff. The garden was peaceful and tranquil and our room was lovely. The hotel was also ideally situated - near the beach, restaurants and the train station.
The staff was kind enough to endure my sophomoric attempts to speak French. They, in fact, spoke numerous languages fluently. Over a four-day stay, they helped arrange our scooter rentals (do explore the beaches and villages east of Nice!) and made excellent recommendations for day trips. The location was just a few blocks from the Nice beaches - a pleasurable walk through the nooks and crannies of the city. I rated the room "good" rather than excellent because of the deferred maintenance on the garden side of the hotel. The rooms were clean but a bit shabby.
We were upgraded to a larger room because the initial room had a suboptimal wifi signal. Both rooms are nice as they are facing the garden, and are quiet. The rooms look tired and require renovation.
charming hotel and room to the garden. clean room. comfortable bed even the room to the garden was a little noisy
The staff were very helpful and welcoming throughout my stay. Reception arranged for an emergency wheel-chair for me within hours of the request.Excellent breakfast and service. Had no problems.
The little things that count like tea and coffee in the room, a towel warmer, a really nice shower, pastries and coffee in the afternoon (free), foreign and local newspapers, a computer (free), friendly staff, loan of umbrellas, convenient location--all added to the quality of the stay.
Close to shopping, restaurants etc. pleasant staff. Daily room cleaning. Building work on the building right beside our bedroom that started early morning, incl. Weekend. I believe car parking should be free.
The breakfast at the hotel (15 E) was far to much
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the garden area where wehadbreakfast. Just watch out for the seagulls. My room was very nice and very quiet. I would like to have stayed longer at this location but it was already fully booked
Friendly staff It was located in an area that I would not consider safe; it would be better further south but were not made aware. Because of safety, a car park would have helped for coming back late.
Nothing. I have visited 27 countries, I saw a lot of different hotels. But this hotel is the worst hotel that I have ever seen! I was afraid to take a shower, because it was ssooo dirty! it is not 30star hotel. I will not even give 1 star to it! The lamp in the toilet was blinking like at the discoteque and the staff did nothing to help us. Staff was not aatentive, not smily, they just didn't care about anything. The door of the toilet didn't close. Wallpapers were 3 cm from the walls. It is a peppergrass for 100 euro per night!!!
only location my air conditioner is not work, but i got only 10 euro back . It too expensive for the room without air conditioner
Please write at least 15 words Dirty tired.uncomfortable beds. Miles from the beach.Inedible breakfast disgusting outlook.
Closeness to Rail and Centre of City
good value for the price near to train station
good, cheap, clean hotel Was actually a good 15 min walk to the beach and not really close to any other restaurants etc apart from those near the beach or the high street. Also no air con made the room uncomfortable on warm evenings
location and price
Location, a quiet street, helpful staff Poor breakfast, no Wi-Fi, the bath promised in the bedroom but finally we had a shower.
good location, clean and tidy, I like the soap and shower gel they offer. central heating is not strong enough
Friendly and helpful staff
Nice an near the station plus it was not far to walk to the town and seaside
Very nice hotel, friendly people at the front desk. It was more personal than a big hotel. The only little remark I have is that we had a double room but there was only one bedside table and lamp on the right side of the bed. I would like to suggest that they arrange the same on the left side of the bed. I have mentioned this to someone at the reception. Our room was on the 4th floor.
smaller and more traditional in style. good position Coffee and tea making not available in rooms. Bathroom somewhat run down
It was good. The hotel is a budget hotel, with really small rooms (as are in all of France) which are really clean. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The cafe next door has with good coffee and croissants (that's all I had..) and nice waiters. Also, the area around the hotel is great, a block from the train station and a 10 min walk from the center. Not much. Do remember it is not a fancy hotel. It is ok for a 3-night stay.
location and kindness of hotel staff rooms are very small,
great bathroom with bidet, double wash basin, shower and bath and black marble like tiles - felt like a star!! fantastic matress and linnen as well
It was well located, and the staff were friendly. The room had 2 single beds which I found to be firm but comfortable. The free WiFi perfromance was very poor from my room on level 2.
The hotel room was really poky and the bathroom was the same.We asked if we could have a taxi to the airport in the morning and we ended up in one without a meter and charged 40 euros, which was a total rip off.
central location not a three star hotel
A very pleasant stay
Location very good Photographs on website make it look alot more than it is
the room was very small and the bathroom also.
The location is very good in the centre of Nice. Lots of shops and restraurants nearby. Close to public transport. Free wifi was very good. Staff were friendly. Could leave our luggage until we left at night. The room we stayed in was small. The bathroom was very small with the sink almost above the toilet. Would be very hard to use for a bigger person. Our sink was blocked and didn't get fixed while we were there.
small room, uncomfortable bed. Good location
The guest reviews were not applicable, because the entire hotel had been renovated earlier in 2007. This made the stay more pleasant. The location of the hotel is pretty good. It is near various music schools, not far from the beach and the old town. The price was good, especially for a 3 star hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem was that on the first night they gave us the wrong room. When they corrected the problem, we had a wonderful room for a good price. I would reccommend this hotel.
During after hours, the hotel is run by unexperienced staff. The hotel room was full of mosquitos
I like the position, in front of a small garden park and the existence of the balcony. The TV programs are just very few and not correlated with international guests (e.g. at least CNN, Euronews should have been available)
The hotel is close to the city center and the beach We had to ask for the bath room amenities two days of four.
Location was good,Friendly staff.
location,comfort, staff attention. no
Excellent location, very central but calm area. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money considering what to expect. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom.
good location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms
Friendly staff, large bathroom, near to train station Poor breakfast
Large rooms, with good airconditioning. Parking was excellent and a reasonable price, although you must pre-book. The staff spoke good English and there was someone on reception 24 hours a day. We did not get fresh towels throughout our stay.
Good location and service
The staff. loaction and design of this hotel is perfect for a visit to Nice and the surrounding towns. This was our 4th stay here.
We enjoy the French style of the hotel, the warm welcome and very helpful staff. We had a superior twin room and it was very large with very large bathroom. Decor not terrific but ok.
Helpful reception staff
hotel staff was very kind, helpful and proffesional for hotel of that cathegory breakfast looked to be quite simple
stayed in Le Grimaldi twice: friendly English-speaking staff, good location, pleasant atmosphere, clean and cosy
Location / the Reception staff & the best House Keeping the rooms facing internal. We changed our room after the 1st nite.
It's location. The character of the hotel. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
Nice room, helpful staff, very clean No all was ok, for those who like to have breakfast in the hotel, there is no special room for restaurant, breakfast is served in the lobby
