- Great view on the sea. Some rooms have a sea view. - Good breakfast buffet - Nice beach just infront of the hotel. - Nice cities around the hotel. - Very good price - NIce staff. - Very familiar and stylish - Need a car! - Restaurants in the village are expensive for students, but in the village 2 min away the prices are ok.
The hotel has very good proximity to the beach - only about a 5min walk. The hotel is very expensive for what it is. I wouldn't judge this to be a very good 3-star hotel as it is not very well built. The corridor provides noise most of the time and you can easily hear your next-door neighbours through the walls. We didn't get a sea view or balcony, in fact our room was quite dark. Other facilities are basic with just a breakfast room (which does have a lovely view of the sea). However, this room isn't used for meals at any other time of day and is a bit of a wasted opportunity.
near to the beach
The location and the views from the restaurant of the unspoilt bay and headland opposite are absolutely beautiful The hotel does not do evening meals - althought there are some small restaurants within walking distance in the village.
It's location overlooking the beach at Niembro was lovely at breakfast time. None of the ground floor rooms have any view at all, just screening. Breakfast was not bad but could get a little busy at the weekends. The two local beaches are lovely and within easy strolling distance of the hotel. There is no restaurant and reception closes in the evening so access by pincode is used. Bear in mind if you are arriving late. There are three restaurants within easy walking distance in the village, one is excellent, but shuts Sunday night Quite difficult to find, it is signposted from the mainroad but from only one direction. Niembro is a typical Spanish village with narrow twisting roads with a curious one way system which the locals seem to ignore
Modern, clean, good value for money Difficult to get restaurant, especially on monday, when almost everything is closed in Spain.
Very helpful and friendly staff - flexible facilities & nice room with balcony
too far from town
Meals in the Restaurant on Sunday evening was dreadful. Monday morning breakfast very poor.
the stuff was helpfull, altough the Hotel Manager was Very very rude and unfriendly!!! The room was overpriced in comparison to its level.
Very spacious, clean & well equipped Nothing
Very polite, attentive and informative staff; spacious room; rooms were cleaned well each day. Too close to the busy highway; very poor value for money; no double- glazing to block out the traffic noise; no air conditioning; too far from Llanes; tiny swimming pool!
Our stay as a family of 7 people, grandmother, parents and children was very enjoyable. The rooms were adequate, the pool and amenities enjoyable. Breakfast was good and proximity to the beach and town excellent with a car. Terrific value for the family rooms.
The hotel was on a busy road, the traffic seemed to go on well into the night. The evening meal was very basic.
Beautiful location and facilities no
beautiful historic building, nice position, well kept decoration well below the standard of the building, bathroom without ventilation, tiny old television, small bathroom
A nice welcome from the friendly and helpful reception staff. As always in this part of Spain, our smattering of Spanish made things easier. The room was quiet and spacious with a very nice bathroom. The dining room (the former convent chapel) is stunning although the dinner prices are steep. The buffet breakfast was very good.
Wonderful location, nice rooms and balcony overlooking a secondary surfing bay, if you get a front room as we did. Exceptionally good value with breakfast included in low rate. Satff were a bit off-hand maybe due to end of season tiredness
On our 14-hotel tour France-Spain, this was one of the cheaper, but the best one. At low season (50€ for a room midweek) you get extremly good value for money. We found almost everything perfect or at least very good. For example beds top-class. (Some prefer softer, but not we.) Nice terrace outside the hotel. Good location in town. We were unlucky, and had dull view from our room. And bad weather. There are more charming places than Llanes.
Good central location in lively Spanish town sandwiched between the sea and the picos mountains
Friendly staff, good value, clean and pleasant room, great architecture, location and town.
Good, central location. Friendly staff. WIFI, free parking along side. Charming terrace. I got the impression the hotel is in the process of renovating its rooms. Ours was not renovated and hence did not seem as nice as the ones seen on various web sites. In which case 95 euros / night for a very ordinary room is too much to pay.
The spacious room and quiet atmosphere.
The location was convenient to the activities in Llanes. The room was clean, fairly large and comfortable with very good noise attenuation. Plumbing work on was being completed immediately under our room, which continued until we complained at 22:30. The hotel did not have a person on the desk when we wanted to checkout at 7:45, so we had to find someone in the restaurant area to help us.
Enjoyed exploring the village (very easy as the hotel was central). Liked the historic features - eg dining room There was a lot of noisy talking outside in the street - far into the night. Probably rooms away from the main street would be better
Wonderful location, friendly staff nice room and bathroom excellent as are the views Food average to poor on the half board option. it was not an expensive addition and you could tell. either eat from the main menu or elsewhere
Excellent location, friendly staff, reasonably comfortable Food was tasteless, require tea / coffee making facility in rooms
The location is superb with plenty of free carparking. The terrace bar serves a reasonable selection of drinks and snacks. The staff were helpful and tried hard despite limited English spoken The hotel is a little tired, particularly the bathrooms however, given the price this is perhaps a little overcritical.
The staff were excellent. The location suited us to perfection. The hotel was lovely, very comfortable and most unusual in design, each room was like a little chalet, very lovely and clean. The food was incredibly tasty and the waiting staff were very attentive. Altogether a great hotel and easy to find.
The wonderful location right on the beach, the friendly staff, amply parking and good evening meal No hot breakfast
Location, location, location! This hotel has a fantastic location right on the beautiful beach at Playa de Barro. The restaurant serves excellent Spanish food and the half board option was a good choice as there wasn't really anywhere else to eat nearby. This is not an English speaking part of Spain so the hotel staff could not speak English, but you stay here and feel you have had a taste of the real Spain.
This hotel is in a good position and easy to walk into llanes for varied and delicous meals. The hotel restaurant was empty presumably because it is vastly over priced and pretentious looking. breakfast was served in a very dull room with no windows. Why not serve it in their conservatory which has views of the mountains. We will be returning to the delightful modestly priced Prau Riu next time.
It had a car park. This hotel is billed as 4 star. I am not sure how. The rooms are very small, furnishings basic and it is not airconditioned, so the windows had to remain open in summer and it was exceptionally noisy as we were near the service area, dogs barking etc. Billed as 4 star, really a budget business mans hotel and therefore very expensive.
Good sized rooms, modern fittings,Excellent car parking facility, easy walking distance from town centre. Charming staff and good breakfast choice catering for all tastes. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room
Friendly staff, good location, excellent food, easy to find, close to the beach and mountains. Very cold in the spa!!!!!!!
The breakfast was nice, and the hotel provided free Internet service. The property is very attractive, and on-premisis parking facilities are plentiful The room was right under the sloping roof, and an adult could not stand up straight in half its floor area. Insulation between rooms was not sufficient for what is described as luxury accommodation. We listened to people in the adjacent room cough and snore all night. The lack of built-in insulation between adjacent rooms is the reason we would not return.
value for money spa very expensive just for having a bath and children not allowed . In other spas they allow just a period of time (1or 2 hours per day)
A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, in a really lovely (and convenient) location. The breakfast wasn't great for a 4 star hotel. It would have been nice to have had own control over the air conditioning in the room instead of having to ask at reception.
The staff were friendly and helpful . Location beautiful and ideal for easy access to both sea and mountains. Really enjoyed our stay . Lack of a suitable restaurant on site was a small down side but it is not far to town.
Staff made a real effort, we had no spanish No restaurant for evening dining was a bit of a drawback, it meant walking into the town 15 minnutes away each evening
good location , near to the autoroute but close to the town. good facilities, very clean and very friendly staff.
friendly receptionist Too far out from Center.
Not your usual hotel, extremely large raised fireplace, probably fab when lighting in winter time. staff excellent, service excellent. Beautiful views from hotel rooms.
The staffs friendliness and attentiveness were excellent. The standard and décor was very good also. An excellent hotel and staff, let down by very easily fixed things: no bar service, no kettle in the room, no food during the day, the Internet connection hardly worked, the swimming pool was shut mid-stay, and there wasn't a 'welcome guest' hotel manual to explain the hotels details, eg: meal times etc.
Pool and jacuzzi, lounge areas and breakfast. Limited food available throughout the day and evening.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, no complaints at all. Private parking at the hotel was also great There was no restaurant and the choice of food in the cafetaria was minimal. A pity that breakfast was served in the basement. Not a single English channel was available on TV. Visiting Asturia or Galicia, you better brush up on your Spanish.
the situation of the hotel in the center of the city the noise of the elevator
Great location near the centre of Llanes. Very close to Llanes beach and the harbour. Free parking.
A good position in the centre, plenty of parking, an economically priced restuarant with excellent food and a substantial breakfast.Stunning views from our bedroom window. No heating in bedroom
I would definitely recommend the Montemar. It is fairly priced, clean, comfortable and quiet while being centrally located for Llanes beaches, shops and restaurants. There is free parking on site. The staff are friendly, but basic Spanish is essential.
Although I only stayed for one night while passing through llanes, and did not eat in the restaurant / cafe, I got the impression that the hotel was very pleasant. Lobby area spacious, reception staff friendly, clean throughout and well located. I was pleasantly suprised - I have paid more for a lot worse in the past - good value for money in my opinion, would certainly use again.
The Hotel is 60mts from the main road that runs through the town of Llanes. The hotel is modern, clean. I was part of a group of 6 on motorcycles, we stayed for 3 nights, good parking on site. My room was booked as single for approx 40euros including breafast, the room was more than big enough, large bathroom as well. The staff were helpful, the breakfast had all of the usual items - bread, cerials, meats and cheeses, toast by request, fresh orange was brought to the table, everything else was buffet. As for the bar, a small beer was approximatly 1.8 euros, bottle of Red wine 10 euros. The location is great for the Picos, north coast, being in Llanes town provides lots of oppertunities for eating and drinking, and looking around the town. Some people have moaned about the room sizes, mine was a single (double bed) and was slightly smaller than a premier travel inn, other rooms did have balconys. The breakfast room is fairly small but there are other areas to eat in, aim for 09:00!
Decent WIFI, central location, ample free parking Bathroom and other fixtures a bit dated
Excellent 3 star hotel, comfortable and clean rooms and staff were very helpful and friendly
The hotel staff from booking in to booking provided an excellent service, polite, friendly and professional.
This hotel is centrally situated in Llanes and is a good base for exploring the coast. In our case we just used it as an overnight stopover en route for the Picos De Europa. There were no sea views from the hotel
A new hotel currently on the main road although well insulated from noise. The new motorway will be completed next year and it will then be a much quiter area.It is family run and they and staff are delightful and most helpful. Ample free parking. Good breakfasts - buffet - with hot dishes freshly cooked to order. No dinner available but plenty of restaurants in nearby Llanes(Yan-es). treat hotel as 4 star superior B&B. Only 14 rooms We had a delightful suite but pointed out to management that lighting in lounge area was insufficient. No English channel on TV. All other guset reviews in Spanish so cannot comment. We were only English there but Ivan the son speaks good English.
Great family run biz with great pride and service to their guests. Very helpful in every way with my travel needs. Rooms were spotless and new with upscale bathroom and furnishings. Many homemade foods at breakfast.. The surrounding area has incredible mountain hiking and secluded beaches. Lovely spot Indiana Golf- thanks for your service. Staff spoke English well, too. Not really..it is not in a secluded area but accesible from the main road if that us a concern for others
Excellent hotel, lovely rooms kept immaculately clean.Family run. Staff could not have been more helpful. Excellent breakfast. would definitely return again. Road facing rooms required window to be shut at night because of traffic noise.
This is a very nice hotel situated in between the costline and the Picos de Europa. The staf is very friendly and to the point. The room was nice and clean and very comfortable.
Comfortable hotel with nice swimming pool and friendly staff. Good beaches a short drive away and convenient for trips to Picos de Europa. Breakfast not available until 0930 - a bit late if you want an early start.
Atencion!!! Obras en la puerta. 7.30am - 7.00pm lunes a sabado. ruido insoportable. The hotel is situated beside the port which currently has been emptied and is undergoing construction work. This work, involving industrial earth moving equipment starts at 7.30 every morning and finishes at 7 in the evening. The rooms are right beside the port and every guest in the hotel is awoken by the noise of cat Jack Hammers every morning. The work continues right through the day so return to the room for a siesta is impossible, and the days of work are Monday to Saturday. It was the worst experience of my life, and the prices still being charged do not reflect the fact that the room is only inhabitable for only 12 hours during the night.
The Hotel is very good, very near to the beach. The hotel staff were excellent. Breakfast was basic but for the price it is ok. We carried food from outside and the hotel staff offered us plates and forks, they even offered that we can seat in the breakfast room with outside food. The canal in front of the hotel is dry now, some work is going on in there, but hotel has nothing to do with that, may be in a few months it will be fine
Elegantly furnished, spacious rooms - ours had a lovely view over the mountains. No evening meals provided but the breakfasts, served in a room with a real fire (wonderful on a cool October morning), were superb. And the staff at this family run hotel, could not be more friendly. Most speak some English, though some knowlege of Spanish is useful - as it is in much of this part of Spain. Nothing!
We were only there for one night but the room was lovely...and big, the stsaff very nice and the breakfast superb
Unexpectedly we had a large apartment including some kitchen facilities. This was most welcome. The apartments are very spacious and nicely designed and kitted out, good value for money. The location was a disappointment. It is too far from Llanes to allow an evening stroll into town (it's 2km away from the centre and finding parking during August is very challenging), yet it is not far enough out, or indeed away from main roads, for it to be peaceful.
the memory foam matresses and pillows were so comfotable. The best quality we have experienced in Spain and Portugal. The kitchenette is very handy for cups of tea but make sure you bring your own kettle and coffee making equipment we prefer the modern rooms and furnishings of the new apartments to the old fashioned rooms in the main hotel.
The owner [?] was very friendly and helpful. However she was only around at breakfast time. In general our experience with the rural hotels during our trip is that the ratio Quality/price is not correct. Furthermore guests may speak English, French and German but at most of the rural hotels Spanish, drawing and body language are the only tools for communication. Although ‘only’ some towels were on the bathroom floor, they were not changed and still wet.
The hotel, room, and gardens were absolutely beautiful. The owner and staff were wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel!
A charming hotel owned and staffed by charming and helpful people. We shall be returning. No
This hotel was once a private home, and has an individual character. Staff were very pleasant, and rooms were comfortable, warm and clean.
very friendly helpful staff. quiet and only a short walk from center of town
Pitch and put in the mornings. Amazing steak in the restaurant.
I dealt personally with Jose, the manager, as we were not able to check in within the normal period. He was very helpful and flexible in allowing us to check-in separately and was very personable and friendly when we met him. We were a little cold at night with only a blanket each.
