The staff was exceptionally helpful (and thankfully, for us, they spoke English!). Great location right on the lake, and close to shops/restaurants.
Excellent hotel with very good service. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Location is very convenient, very close to downtown and train station. I will definitely use this hotel in my next trip.
The View very noisy from the bar until 2:30 AM
Hospitality of the hotel's staff, excellent location, reasonable price
Very good location, closed to many seeing points. As per guide by the hotel, I paid SFr 15 for 3 hour wireless internet access. Provider was Swiss Telecom. But, signal was too weak anypwere anytime in the hotel. Succesful access time was only a few minutes. I just wasted money.
Convenient position. Parking concession. Access.
I liked the excellent central location on the lakeside and in the city centre.Good buffet breakfast and excellent restaurant for pasta/pizza and beers. Nice hot shower in bedroom. Helpful bi-lingual staff
The location was good. Staff was very helpful and accomodating. Would be great to either have fridge in room or ice machine in hallway with an ice bucket.
The room was very clean and had a nice bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even when I had special requests. The location was perfect! I wish the room had been larger or had a view.
Convenient for for our trip! Perhaps the breakfast offered could have had more variey!
Location in Neuchatel is excellent with perfect views of the lake. Very convenient to the train station. Staff extremely helpful and polite The room was extremely small. Not that I really needed more space, I guess I was just surprised when I entered and the room had a tiny single bed in a room only slightly wider. It turned out to be ok and very comfortable.. just not what I expected especially for the price. It definitely was not a double room as booked!
the kindness of the personnel
Very kind and helpful restaurant staff. I was twenty four hours in this hotel, and the same litter I saw in the hallways on my arrival was still there when I checked out. Scruffy looking kitchen and cleaning staff smoking outside the hotel, did nothing to add to the ambiance. The room was tatty and needed renovation. Terrible bedside lights that flood the entire room with glaring light. Old worn-out mattresses made for a very uncomfortable night. Nice staff overall, but with all the many problems, I would not stay again at this very overpriced and poorly managed hotel.
It was vey conveniently located next to the railway station so no need to use a car. Staff were friendly and helpful Decor seemed a bit old in the room, though this was not really a big problem
Location next to the railway station - easy access. Cleanness and friendliness
Close to train station and lake, excellent breakfast, key also worked for front door, helpful staff, my window and curtain opened fine, quiet.
room was clean, breakfast was very nice, staff was friendly
Carpark just behind hotel; buffet breakfast; kettle in room. View onto a building site and noisy during daytime. No way of opening the window, therefore stuffy room.
old interior and very noisy
Friendliness of staff, free internet access, good food, welcome drink on the house. Noise from the street.
Air conditioning would improve the status of the hotel.
Very friendly staff at reception and restaurant, free possible parking and good breakfast included. In case of elder people taking a shower, they have to step into the bath.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. Rooms were slightly dated.
The lake behind the hotel
feel welcome / location of the Hotel / free parking no international plug / no free WIFI / hotel is clean but need renovation
It was quiet, and very clean with good bed, important for resting well. Seemed to have good restaurant attached too. Friendly staff.
Nice location, convenient for Neuchatel Small television at a high level
It was nicely situated, easy to get to once we figured out the directions. We loved the view of the alps. The beds were not comfortable, the springs were so close to the surface of the bed. There were only 2 outlets in the room. There were no amenities, we're used to coffee pots at that price, and a hair dryer. The TV was small and poorly situated, probably because of the small size of the room.
We visited the local ski slopes, went to chaux de fond on the train and spent time exploring Neuchatel - there is a two hour mapped walk around the town The hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and takes 15 minutes to walk to nearest bus stop - we didnt have a problem with it and there is a daily ski bus from the bus stop too. The staff picked us up and dropped us off with our cases.
The hotel staff were helpful and very accommodating. The hotel itself is located about 15 mins outside of Neuchatel so it is very convenient to seeing the countryside and also for a city day trip. The breakfast was barely that. Breakfast was bread and cereal. Coffee was brought to the table. There was no yogurt or even fruit available. Even though the breakfast was included in the room charge, the bill reflected that the breakfast was 15CHF per person which it was definately not worth. If there were no breakfast and the room were less expensive, it would have been much more worth the price.
The staff was very cooperative. We were running late, so we called ahead and explained our situation and they left the key out for us. The cost of the breakfast was high.
Kind staff. We didn't like the sheets and the towels et the hotel, they looked old and weren't comfortable.
It is in the middle of nowhere and hard to get to if one is not travelling by car. There is actually no bus that takes you to the hotel and it is quite a walk.
dinner was excellent, the staff were wonderful, an enjoyable time breakfast was a little disappointing, perhaps we were too late down, but the croissants were superb
I didn't like the meal I had at the hotel.
Did not like the location No service for meals and the breakfast was over priced for what they gave
the hotel itsself was really beautiful,a family run business at the beautiful village of hauterive!rooms, decoration and breakfast were all great!
Hotel staff were very friendly and hospitable. The ceiling above the shower was very low. We needed to sit while taking a shower. not very prctical.
- small but very nicely decorated rooms - nice owners - nice breakfast - free parking available
nice breakfast in a nice room / charming village / very good gastronomic restaurant at the opposite of the hotel old styled bedroom, old bathroom
great staff, very polite, charming location no hairdryer
Location of hotel quiet set in quaint square with restaurants & areas to walk. Very friendly relaxed service
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location, just outside Neuchatel was great. The breakfast was very ordinary, and not really worth the extra. Being in Switzerland, I sort of hoped for something like Bircher Meusli rather than Kellogs fun packs, but they did supply local cheese. The bread was good too.
Charming hotel, very friendly staff and well appointed rooms. As a solo traveller I appreciated such a small touch as having a book shelf in my room with books in many langauges to help pass my time. B/f was quite basic, by 9.45 all the cheese was gone. As it was an additional charge I felt there could have been more provided.
Friendly, helpful receptionists with good English. Quite near the old city and breakfast was good.
Best value for money There is no parking at the hotel. You must pay the city parking which is 2 swiss francs/hour and you should go every 2 hours to put the coin in the parking machine.
Pleasant interior spaces. Breakfast buffet was good, not extensive choice but fresh. Noisy. We had requested a non-smoking room. At check-in we were not told that we'd been given a smoking room. It stank. We asked to be changed, Reception told us that though a non-smoking room was available, we had already had occupation of a room, and that no staff were on hand to check it if we vacated it !!!! It was too late in the day to seek alternative accommodation. There was no apology.
fast internet the hotel needs renovation: my room window did not close, very noisy.my shutters did not close
internet, the room, breakfest parkingplace
Poor mattress, poor bathroom facilities
I liked the design of the rooms very much, simple and peaceful. We found the food at dinner very bland.
Very nice hotel. They offer freshest food, and organic food, since they have their ranch and farm. Of course the food served in the hotel is a little bit expensive, but in Switzerland, all food are expensive, no matter where you go, compared with other European countries. Also, it is an excellent place if you travel with kids, they offer extra bed for kids if they found you travel with kids. My son really enjoy what he found in the ranch and farm, very close to the nature, good for him. Maybe the hotel want people stay with only for relaxation, so they do not have TV in the room. If they can offer WIFI or wireless, it could be better.
nice view breakfast
A friendly, comfortable ambiance with a great view to the Neuchatel lake and the Alps. A very nice room with carefully chosen decoration and furnitures. A delicious buffet breakfast with home-made dishes, that was even served till 11am!
Marvelous nature, eco houses and ecofood plus incredible views of mountains
It was a very quiet room in a small town. We stayed in the seperate building in a double room with a shower. The rooms were very simple, it was nearly like staying in a cabin which was neat. It was easy to drive to surrounding cities during the day. Parking at the hotel was free and not a problem to find a space. The food in the restaurant was good but expensive (we ate there one night). The breakfast was good with a selection of the usual fare. The store in the lobby has some neat bio products. The bed was very hard. There also was no tv, which some in my party were dissapointed about.
Stunning scenery, comfortable rooms, quite good to have no television and bookshelves dotted around the place. Everybody read! The proximity of the farm was a big plus with the children. The beds are very low. When I enquired, re. my elderly mother possibly wanting to come, I was told it was possible to raise beds. Maybe this should be advertised in the rooms. One member of our party with 2 new hips really appreciated a raised bed the second and third nights.
Restaurant is grossly overpriced; chf28 for a bowl of pasta with pesto? They have you over a barrel as the hotel is in the country. Hotel is overpriced for what it is.
Location is fantastic. Food expensive and disappointing. Wrong meal provided, badly cooked. No hot water in suite. After complaints it was suggested we go across the car park to a vacant room and use the bathroom there. Some windows in room did not have curtains or shutters.
Very confortable room, amazing place, good food, english speackers If I didnt have called to the hotel about 10:30 p.m from the road (Bern to Neuchatel) I probably would get lost. I arrived at 2 am. On the other hand, when I called, I find an well prepared man, who gave-me correct instructions.
The bed was not too comfortable.
The breakfasts were good. They had a goo variety of food, and they were swiftly and pleasantly served. It was a little difficult to communicate. Not everyone spoke English.
A nice hotel with very friendly staff, just a litle bit expensive but I understand Switzerland is in general an expensive country.
friendly staff who helped us as Booking.com cocked the number of rooms up!! location from Berne - indicated 15km on brochure, in fact 35km
the staff were very friendly rooms very adequate meals at the bar next door very good
it was close to the city centre and free wifi internet acces it was old fashioned, breakfast minimal and it smell like diesel fuel from the central heating furnace in all the coridors
Peaceful location (courtside)
Room was big enough Miserable, very very poor bad
good pizzeria near bye
Close to center of the city
Nothing - shabby, depressing and extremely noisy due to the main road on which it's placed. Awful breakfast. I particularly did not like the fact that the hotel claimed to have no knowledge of my online booking.
extremely helpful and friendly staff
the hotel was situated nice and close to the city for shopping and supermarket and there was secure parking for the car We chose this hotel because it had kitchen but the kitchen was bare and it cost 50 francs to hire plates, cutlery and pots etc. There was no mention of this on the website. The breakfast standard was quite poor
Room size Information misleading - there is no park opposite and this was a reason for booking, thinking this would result in a nice outlook. Instead we felt very uncomfortable in hotel vicinity as hotel and vicinity covered in grafitti. Park is nothing more than some grass and a couple of seats which is around the corner and not opposite the hotel. The balcony has asbestos sheeting. Decor - 70's & poor.
The hotel is situated from one side, close to beutiful lake, from other side is easy to go to from the railway station (funicular line station is about 60 m). The hotel has a good style of design. The reception hall is not large enough. But for the 3 stars hotel it's good.
Friendly staff. I had a problem with a noise in the bathroom, and I could directly change rooms.
rstaurant service was not so friendly
Close to town centre and lake
Good location (the lake, the funicular are two minutes walking), good taste design.
The hotel was located very close to lake neuchatel in a quieter part is town a few minutes walk from the centre Like the rest of the area the price was high for what you got compared to UK prices
It was a short walk from the funicular that takes you to the train station. The buffet breakfast was included in the room rate and it was very good.
My room was available much before the published check in time. All areas of the hotel are clean and tidy. Room looked newly renovated. The hotel is modern in apperance. Breakfast is basic but plentiful
My room on the top floor was spacious and quiet, with lovely views from the dormer windows of mountains and sea. The staff was pleasant and friendly, the atmosphere was comfortably low-key, and the location was convenient to the town centre (on foot or by tram) but far enough away to avoid the noise. Unfortunately, I arrived during an unusual heat wave, and even with a rotating floor fan running non-stop, the un-air-conditioned space was so stultifyingly hot that it was all but unbearable, even at night ... especially as a sign tacked to the window advised against opening it with the lights on because of mosquitoes. The room had few amenities and no safe. The bathroom sink also was very slow to drain and needed unclogging.
Large, clean rooms. Good breakfast. Cool vibe.
Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds. Great location next to the canal, which was very convenient. Free outside parking. An excellent value overall. WiFi, although free in public areas, costs CHF 25. per night extra in the rooms, which seems a bit steep.
Good situation Room was very small. Fitness room had very few equipment. Breakfast was expensive.
Location. Staff not particularly friendly. Restaurant closed every weekend. Room service but no room service menu to order breakfast...staff very unhelpful concerning this. Pillows and duvet synthetic so very hot. Room hot even when heater turned off. Have to pay for wi-fi in the rooms.
Very nice room; excellent breakfest
It is the best hotel in Biel, but that doesn't mean much as in general hotel standards in Biel are not that high... Small room and smaller bathroom
Room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good. Room was small. We had booked froom for 2 adults + 2 children but when we arrived they said they have no suitable rooms so had to hastily squeeze a sofa bed in our room which made it a bit tight for space and the kids had to share a bed. I was given a different meal from what I had ordered when we dined in the restaurant. It took a long time for the right meal to come.
Loud music from the club below
Nice staff and room confort It was not information about how to contact the reception by phone
Good helpfull staff who tried hard to be .The location of the hotel was convenient for the centre of town but also quite close to the lake . Parking was a bit difficult to locate. The hotel was on a busy street and a bit noisy at night.
Spacious room. Quite old hotel. Not very clean room. No air condition.
The room was quaint. The size was comfortable and the room itself was very clean. I'd say that the staff, in general, is very rude. Not one person smiles or greets you pleasantly - it always feels like youre bothering them. Also, it must be said that when we booked the room for 1 night in the afternoon, the front desk clerk said the room (119 SFr) would include breakfast for us. We asked where, and she showed us. The next morning, we came downstairs and ate the poor breakfast (1 type of cheese, 1 unidentified salami, hard-boiled eggs, 2 yogurts, croisant. This is breakfast). When we checked out soon after, another front desk clerk asked if we had breakfast. We said yes, and our bill jumped up to 150 SFr.! We explained that the meal was included, and they claimed it isn't, extremely rude and unapologetic. Never again.
Helpfu lstaff Room a bit bare
The rooms were always clean, we had clean towels everyday/ It did not have AC and was a bit frustrating as one of the days we stayed there was very hot.
Parking was free Staff was unfriendly. Room was okay at best. Internet was terribly expensive. Nothing around the hotel.
Cold tiled floor, no carpet, no house slippers
Great location on the lake with decks right out over the lake There was not much choice for food in the area
the friendliness off the staff NA
the wonderfull setting off the small appartments on the water, the nice service and attention also for us as a family
Very relaxing, felt as though we were on holiday somewhere exotic even though we were within a stone's throw from Neuchatel, the restaurant was excellent as was the service, the facilities provided in the room were of a very high standard and they had thought of everything. We actually asked to upgrade to a Lake Pavillion room once we were there. The heating system was on full and could not be turned off -- the only comfortable way to sleep was to have the main window wide open all night. It was also too expensive -- only affordable on the basis that this was a one-off and we would not go back due to the cost.
Unique design and room facilities, wonderful lake side location, the only suite hotel above water in Europe, superb food and wines, an experience not to be missed Some aging wooden planks along the access to the lake side suites do no longer match the luxury resort.
Room facilities and view
Service, staff and clenliness were excellent. The room could have been a little cooler.
The style and layout of the rooms is first class, add to that real privacy and the feeling of sitting on the lake/water Unfortunately it is a disease that Hotels insist on execcive charges for mini bar (standard items) and the price for a continental breakfast. We regularly stay at another 5 star hotel in Switzerland where the mini bar & breakfast are all part of accom which is overall less that the Palafitte.
Nice staff Great site Romantic room design One of the most beautiful hotels in the Europe
Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant and relaxing. The staff were most helpful. We ate in the hotel Brasserie where the food was excellent and the service was superb. The young lady who served us at dinner was courteous, professional and extremely attentive.
Although this hotel looks unpromising from the outside, it is actually a very nice place to stay; warm and welcoming. I had an excellent, spacious room with a very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The breakfast was very good too, and served in a 7th floor dining room with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. On the morning I was there it was snowing, and the experience was quite magical. Excellent value for money and just a few steps away from the railway station.
Close to the train station, quiet at night, no noisy guests No eggs on the breakfast menu
Free internet service. Facilities too old. No front desk staff after 9pm.
Die Zimmer sind gross, die Lage Zentral, Personal freundlich. The rooms are large, the hotel is centrally located and the receptionist is friendly. Badzimmer ok, aber klein und nicht auf dem neuesten Stand. Zudem war Duschvorhang verschimmelt. Bathroom ok, but small and could use some renovation. Also, the shower curtain was moldy.
The hotel is very close to the station, efficient check in and there is a beautiful 7th floor terrace for breakfast. A bit expensive for the quality (not renovated - old) Internet doesn't work in all of the rooms.
Helpful and friendly staff and very good location for public transport from La Chaud de Fond. Slightly tired 70s look and feel
They had no on site car parking. Parking 1 mile away at the train station was not acceptable
Very close to railway station, and close to the shopping area. Several bars and restaurants nearby.
Efficient service, no fuss, good breakfast. I did not expect the hotel to debit my card as soon as the reservation was made with booking.com - I expected to pay while I was there. Not a problem though.
the room, the value for money, the location was fantastic
Tidy, simple and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely deserves its four stars!
Customer service, cleanliness Bar underneath that played music late at night
Friendly people, clean, nicely arranged, good breakfast It was too hot in the room.
The hotel is located near a railway station and a place of my bussiness meeting The quality of room is average
Very clean and convenient. Less than 5 minutes walk from the train station, plenty of choice for shopping and food around. Quiet room and comfortable bed. High quality breakfast. The only think I missed was a fitness room.
The bed was good and comfortable
Very comfortable room. Good breakfast. Very pleasant people.
A great hotel in the old town of Neuchatel. Lovely friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were nicely designed, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The buffet continental breakfast was nice, plentiful and pretty reasonable. With the hotel just as short walk into town and from there the lake, I would stay here again or recommend it to friends.
Proximity to town centre. No hotel parking, or preferred rates in adjacent public car park.
Nice ambience, polite & eager to help staff with English, German, French language knowledge, cozy rooms, quiet rooms with a view in the garden. Free Wireless internet in rooms/reception/cafeteria was also a good feature. Everything went smoothly during our stay (3 nights).
Welcoming and friendly staff. Room clean, good continental breakfast. Hotel few minutes walk from the town and Lake.
It was a lovely small hotel, great staff, clean, comfortable spacious, good breakfast, great coffee, nice patio, close to everything. No
Friendly staff & the best coffee I've tasted in a long time!
The size of the room and the decor. Very quiet.
Personell was very helpfull
Friendly hotel. Good value for money. Lovely to be in a non- touristy area. Very relaxing. Our son is staying there for five weeks at the moment. He is doing a degree project. We went to see him.He is finding the hotel excellent for the long stay and appreciates the helpful freindly staff.
Excellent staff and countryside Had to ask for tea making facilities in room - which were provided promptly no public transport to hotel - but staff were very helpful in ferrying us to station
i found La Cle des Champs verry nice clean and the poeple nice as well i liked the sound of the cows bells as well
Clean, comfortable Hard to find.
Remote, peaceful setting - a great get-a-way location, with opportunities to walk in all directions with breathtaking scenery. Limited catering, but breakfasts fine. Need a car to get there.
The staff was very pleasant. They had no English so one has to practise their French but that's what it's all about. Hotel is clean and has fantastic views. For a beautiful mountain experience it's a simple and lovely hotel. For the price everything is in order. Perhaps the breakfast could have had a few more selections.
Very quiet Not much english spoken, bring your French dictionary
silence and free very fast wireless nothing
The quality they offer is excellent, and the staff are very kind and friendly. Also the location is unique: Your are right in the mountains, and there is nothing else around (except for another hotel). Beautiful walks and views. The point of being so isolated can be a little too much. You certainly need a car to come here, and if you need anything, you can forget about it. This can be both, a disadvantage, or a very nice point, depending on each one.
