quiet and good value Breakfast roll not as fresh as last few times otherwise very good
We've spent 90 days traveling throughout 18 countries in Europe staying most nights in hotels for no more then one or two days at a time and Van der Valk was definately one of the better ones. So no real complaints. space and convenience
distance between hotel and customer Smell, staff attention in restaurant
easy to find ,all embracing, good service unchanging over the years
Nice hotel, good food, nice atmosphere, lots of space The cockeral at 05.00
Friendly staff - as always - I have been staying there for years
The rooms were beautifully refurbished especially the bathrooms. Super modern and luxurious
We had a minor problem with our dinner, the main course was very dry and unpalletable as if left standing, it wasn't that busy! However to their credit when we made our concerns known the staff were courteous and professional, offering to replace our order with another choice or no charge for the offending items.
Clean room, food in restaurant good, staff friendly, location for work Laundry service slow (27 hrs), Late breakfast start (7am too late)
Very good and personal service. Quick and easy check-in/-out. Very good with several available bagage cart.
In very pleasant location , backs onto lakeside , Plenty of car parking . Large rooms , nice bar / terrace .
Lovely quiet location, comfortable, clean and quiet room Wireless internet could have been better but nothing major
nice relaxing area around, and nice close to City Groningen
Good position close to lake but easy 6km cycle into Groningen.Comfortable beds.Nice pool & free tennis courts. Kitchen closed at 9pm on Saturday night in high season even though the room information said room service was available til 10. We had to get in the car & go into city to eat, instead of a nice relaxing meal on terrace as planned. We would have eaten earlier if we'd known!
Good facilities - pool, sauna etc. Quiet and relaxing
Good reception. Efficient, personal. Very quiet location. The place to have a rest. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Everything works. Brasserie menu and execution is acceptable but not of the same standard as the rest.
The friendliness of the staff The menu in the dinning room for Dinner, is very limited and old fashioned. No choice for vegetarians. This is a big drawback as there are no other restaurants within walking distance.
possibility of going to the spa
very helpful hotel stuffs bed size--Two double beds means not one twin and one double. and restaurant-- waitress takes her time serving dinner. It took over two hours to finish. Changed the desert without notice. I was looking forward to see the desert on the menu since I never had it before.--, bit pricey.
The beds were very comfortable. The hotel offered free bikes for guests to use. I was charged an additional fee without my knowledge.
very friendly staff
Reception staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Brreakfast was nice but too expensive!
staff, location stairs, no ramps, somewhere hidden an elevator
Nothing special, but good value for money.
Hotel was very clean , room was lovely, great location, good facilities
Fit for purpose, budget business style, three star hotel. No frills, plentiful parking. Expensive mini-bar & I didn't take up the 15 Euro breakfast.
The hotel is located conveniently close to the town of Groningen and still offers the advantage of staying in the countryside. The design is quite basic, but comfortable. The carpets in the corridors are indeed due to a change! Breakfast is quite nice in a spacy breakfast room. Friendly staff at the reception. Despite our request we were booked into a room which was facing the highways and the noise level is indeed quite high. Even with the window closed there is still a lot of noise in the night, so it seems impossible to sleep with an open window.
precio-comfort 10 location 10 very very good staff nothing have been there many times all everytime 10
great comfy beds the prices !
Nice hotel, room was comfertable
This hotel have a TV is very small and the food was bad I don’t recommend this hotel
My stay at the hotel was very short (one night), but the staf I talked to was very nice and they gave us hot water for tea to our travel home for free.
The restaurant was very good and popular. The restaurant was non-smoking - this meant that the smokers stood outside to smoke. The problem was this is right outside the door to room 1 which was the room that I was in.
Nice place to stay. We will visit them next year during Superbikes Weekend in Assen!!! None
The quietness and relax surrounding
Nice and friendly staff. Nice restaurant. Screaming guests in the middle of the night. Small tv at large distance of the bed.
Meals were realy great
Excellent service and hospitality from manager Mrs. Renate Vink and her staff. Been a regular at Hotel Buxus for the last 6 years or so thanks to the annual Superbike and Supersport races in nearby Assen. Will be back again next year so Mrs. Renate Vink has already marked me down in her calendar.
Comfortable and reasonably well equipped room. A real "small village" hotel. Good breakfast and also lunch could be made. Very basic, no minibar. A used towel and soap in bathroom.
A small family run hotel, the staff were very friendly and accomodating.
good location.sat nav went straight to it.good food, drink and room
Very good price. Friendly and flexible staff. Quiet during the night. I could not use the shower in my room since the water didn't flow as it should through the hole in the floor. I had to shower sitting down in the bathtub.
Location Unhelpfull management/Staff. Noisy from 6am. Closing the bar and grill early 3 out of 4 nights. We just got given the keys to the rooms and never got told any times for breakfast, lunch or even dinner times we had to ask for all. Hardly ever spoken to other than good morning. We all felt like we were an inconvieniance to the hotel and at an average of 50 euros per eveng for a basic room and breakfast you would expect a little courtesey and a functioning bar and grill.
The staff were really helpful, and did everything to make our stay enjoyable
Restaurant has a nice ambience and the food was excellent. Staff were very helpul and freindly. Bedrooms are a little basic and noisy from the road noise outside.
very helpfull and friendly hotel
The lunchpackets and dinners were excellant. The members of the hotel staff try to make your stay in the hotel and in the surroundings as pleasant and comfort as possible. This very good behaviour of the staff and the excellent value for money make that the customer comes back! No.
Lovely rural village location. Good food both at dinner and breakfast.Pleasant, helpful proprieter and staff. Would not suit people wanting night life (not a problem for us - we like a quiet time)
The location was central to the city center. Easy access to various restaurants, cafes and pubs. The staff were friendly and inviting. During the week of World Cup round of 16 and first set of quarterfinals, the staff set up a large-screen projection system to view the some games. Exciting time during the quarterfinal of The Netherlands vs. Brazil.
the breakfast was good, the room was clean the standard room is above the restaurant, so we paid more to change to a quiet room. except the price, others were good.
Close to the station, good menu and breakfast, easy and quick check-in and check-out, internet. Not the most quiet hotel.
Breakfast Room too small, the sloping roof was just too sloped, difficulty standing upright! (particularly in the shower room)
Good service and willing to help out with additional services. The wifi did not work in my room.
Friendly staff. Excellent kitchen. Central position. Room rather small, although all necessities were there and worked OK.
Friendlyness of the staff, and the efficient service.
Awake till 4AM because the room was not isolated and the hotel turns out to be in the clubbing zone of Assen. If you like noise while you're trying to sleep, this is the right place to go. Car was towed away in the morning as it turned out there was a town market. "we tell our staff to inform our guests about this, but apperantly the staff member forgot". That'll be 220 Euro then. The hotel staff doesn't take license registrations, but they do get informed when cars are being towed. How hard is it to ask for a reg and inform the guests their car is about to be towed. Very poor customer service and absolute ignorance from staff.
Location, ffod and beveargae Location of rooms at the front of the hotel, VERY noisy on Friday and Saturday nights untill 4am.
Helpful, friendly staff who spoke good English. Good food also. Room walls so thin that snoring man in adjacent room kept me awake all night!
Everything. We would definitely stay there again. No
clean, big rooms; good beds; enough information about the village, like restaurants and events; welcoming staff breakfast could be better
the hospitality, the service of the land-lady
Rustic atmosphere Walls were a bit thin
Very friendly host, nice rooms, beautiful scenery.
the hospetality, the room, the service and the serenety no
1. " silence is golden" 2. TV had Belgian programs TV1 and Canvas nothing
We loved our stay, the room was spacious with a great bathroom, and the hotel itself is a beautiful old farmhouse in the Drenthe countryside. The owners were very friendly and happy to provide information about the area without being in your face. Plenty of nice villages and countryside nearby, ideal for a relaxing vacation.
Easy to find very relaxing Good food No
Very relaxing and peaceful hotel set in a lovely village atmosphere
Very good hotel, extremely friendly staff!
Rural location + ground floor private terrace (room opened on to garden). Breakfast excellent (variety and quantity), but poorly organised (meant waiting while waitress kept returning to kitchen to replenish the buffet as initially not enough coffee, milk, rolls, boiled eggs, etc had been put out). Odd too that a glass of fruit juice was brought to your table - while the rest was buffet style! Restaurant: extremely slow service with a very long wait for each course (meal lasted nearly 3 hours) - we left without taking a dessert (too tired!). Cooking ("nouvelle cuisine") was excellent, if a little expensive. The focus seemed to be on the food and the cooks rather than the guests (we were there to appreciate their skills and had to accept the wait).
Very very good restaurant
I selected this Hotel for the race in Assen because of the location of the Hotel. It turns out to be an excellent atmosphere and good service (especially with Rob). I definetly recommend it.
