A very nice owner - the lady is such a warm and helpful person, excellent! We were with 2-year-old twins and the lady was very helpful to us at every stage of our 1-night-stay. Very good breakfast, excellent location - only 5km from A9 Autobahn.
We used the hotel on the way to and from our summerholiday in Italy. We are to adults and 3 children. So an extra bed was added to the room. The room wasn't so big, but comfortable and nice. The staff was nice, the breakfast was as expected (I didn't miss anything). Close to the hotel there is a pizzaria (very good and affordable) and an icecream shop (and a bank). There is much trafic on the seemingly small road in front of the hotel. Open windows will cause noise at ordinary city level from approx. 5 o'clock. So don't open the window.
locations on the way to ski holiday
friendly, warm place in a picturesque little town a bit off the beaten path, but that added to the charm
The hotel was closed untill 5.30 p.m. even check in from 5.00 p.m. should be possible. Half an hour just waiting for someone to open the door is not good enough.
Good price for one nigth
Its a very familary Hotel and silent place at night time..Breakfast was great
Well, what can one expect for the rate 45 euro for double room? The hotel has been choosen for one purpose: near A9 highway, low rate, half a way during our longer trip. So if you need cheep place as a "trip-braker" and quick bed & breakfast this place is could be for you, otherwise avoid it.
This hotel is too close to the church that rings the bell every 15 minutes!
The staff was very helpful.
free internet, very hospitable staff, nice comfortable room
Staff very friendly and it's about 10 min from A9.
Nice place, very friendly staff, good breakfast
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean and cosy. The room was spacious
The staff is very accomodating. Food was excellent ! Location was great - just a few minutes to Lauscha for the kugel-markt. Price was very reasonable - I will stay here again.
The host was the best and close to Lauscha Christmas Glass shopping.
Very pleased we stayed at this hotel. The two rooms we booked were very nice. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. When we arrived they informed us that they had an entertainment evening going on with live band. They directed us to another hotel for our evening meal which was very good and reasonable price. When we came back they invited us to stay to the entertainment which we did and we had a really fun evening. As its a castle the rooms were cool but as it was August and hot this was ideal.
The proprietors were wonderful: helpful, friendly and knowlegeable. This hotel is more B & B than hotel in atmosphere and services. Breakfast was a lovely German spread. The rooms are cold and hot water in shower limited if you arrive very late. If you are staying in fall or winter, you would need to layer clothing. However, you are staying in a 600 year old building which wasn't designed for central heating.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. They did their best to make my stay pleasant. The room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was excellent. The room and the hotel building were very cold. the heating was switched on when I arrived but the whole building had cooled down and I felt cold all night. This needs to be borne in mind by the hotel owners when renting rooms in autumn or winter, because the lack of warmth would deter me from visiting the hotel again.
Incredibly helpful, and polite staff. Great food, and very relaxed atmosphere My rusty german - no real bad points at all.
I quit earlier. First I got room with broken window that could not be closed, then I got room with no heating and without TV. Hopefully there were another hotel nearby, so I switch hotels after first night. Guy at reception is disaster, broken window, no heating in my room, no TV in my room etc, etc.
Although I did have an booking confirmation, I was forced to change hotel close to this hotel. Just only because of, "We didn't have any room any more...".
Great staff, very helpful. Lovely setting.
Beautyful surroundings, fatastic for hiking and exercising. Pleasant staff and facilities that met expectations at the price level.
The location in Frankenwald is very attractive. Beautiful, calm landscape. When we have ticked off "Golf/Sports" it is because there is a large selection of footpaths around the hotel where you can walk or jog, and the pool facilities are excellent.
Beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. Very nicely laid out for hiking. Wonderful swimming pool. Friendly staff. One sour individual (male) in the receiption ruined an otherwise excellent rating of staff. The hotel can only wait a few years before an overhall is required. It is beginning to look a bit worn in places.
The hotel is beautifully located in the Frankenwald forest, and Bad Steben offers a fantastic variety of spa, cosmetic and health treatment. Also, there is a system of foot paths that offers the possibility for walks and jogging for all needs. Good food. The fair rating of personnel is because of one person in the reception, who clearly should not be their. She was unfriendly, unhelpful and demonstrated no understanding of service. However, this one person was an exception, all other staff deserved good to excellent rating. The hotel is now 25 years old and the need for refurbishing is getting obvious.
A very nice hotel with friendly staff
We traveled with friends and stayed in the area for 3 nights. Mostly used the hotel as a place to sleep but ate several meals there. The food was good and the service was excellent. We arrived after the restaurant and reception were closed but the staff found us food and checked us into the room. But more importantly, treated us as invited guests instead of a nuisance. We recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.
