Friendly reception, free wireless internet, comfortable bed, nice breakfast buffet. The bathroom smelled awfull, as if the trash bin had not been emptied for days. We could not find the source though. Fortunately the smell did not reach the bedroom.
nothing old and tired, small TV, no mini bar, no bar/evening resturant,
the staff were very friendly / helpful
Excellent location close to the tourist sites, clean and safe surroundings and very nice ambience overall, with a very comfortable room with a nice view from the window. The breakfast was great, and staff were very helpful. Since children below 12 are included free (including the breakfast), this was most convenient. The free internet facility was an added bonus. The fixed dinner menu during the summer festival should be changed to offer at least some variety.
Very nice hotel. Very comfortable, large and luxurious room. Ample parking, some locked parking spaces. Friendly staff. Easy to find. Clean. Free internet in room. Would definitely book again. Not in walking distance to city center. Breakfast good but simple and not up to price of hotel.
Very helpful staff. Characterful main bulding, with good modern block for most rooms. Excellent base for touring Fyn. Just a little too far from downtown Odense (2km) to make it easily "walkable"
Large very comfortable rooms. Large bathroom. Clean. Free parking. Good food in retaurant. Nothing
Nice environment, friendly personnel, good location Room furniture were a bit old
Very Clean, good breakfast. Internet worked as advertised, plenty of parking. Easy reach of city centre and pleanty of bars etc.
Charming typically danish buildings. Food was excellent. Not enough towels or pillows.
Super friendly and flexible staff - my problems with certain foodgroups where addressed emidiately, despite my lack of pre-warning, before arriving. Restaurant menu and wine selection was excellent.
Very nice room - generous size and well furnished. It was good to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, but not too far from it. Had to go outside to get from the room to breakfast - which was no fun in the rain.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, everything you expect was in place and available. Breakfast food selection was excellent. The hotel is in the higher price catagory, I have stayed at many similar hotels in Copenhagen for a lower price per night, however, this is Denmark. Breakfast is a little to busy for my liking.
the service in the restaurant, the hotel and it's location The room was really small compared to what we have had before to that price
The bathroom was too tiny and I'm not huge. The whole room felt too small. I have stayed in First before, in a First Lady room. Maybe that's why this was a disappointment.
I loved the unique design and decor of our room. The bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom was very nice, newly updated and clean! No
The beds. Incompetent receptionist giving wrong electronic key, writing down wrong credit card expiry date. Lift will not be working till after the summer!!! No soap, one towel!!! New shower so inadequate it lets so much water flood the whole floor.
Clean, comfortable, spacious
The staffs are very friendly and smiley. The reception even helped us carried our baggages to our rooms (seeing that we have a sleeping child)
Clean, good breakfast impersonal service, too small a room for the price,
I had a very good experience at the hotel. They first were going to put me in a room with a view of a roof and fire escapes but upon my request gave me a much better room with a good view. The breakfast was excellent and the location is very convenient.
Very stylish hotel conveniently located in the city center. The elevator doesn't work, we stayed for 3 nights, and the elevator is permanently out of order. There is free wireless internet, but it worked only on our first day and was unusable the rest of our stay. The daily cleaning of the room was a quick&dirty job, bed sheets were straightened but not replaced with clean ones.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service was good The bed in the room was laid out in a strange way had no back to the bed to be able to sit up and the room was quite basic
Location, breakfast and morning staff According to site renovated but still ongoing. Sealing second floor not complete, electricity cables coming out of the wall in the hallway. TV was not usable as it was hanging over and could not be adjusted, some lights broken and with my partners 1.85m he just fitted under the fixed shower. Curious how it will be when finished but probably we will use a different hotel when we visit Odense again
Excellent place to stay for a few days. Good location. Very nice, attentive staff. We liked it and recommend it to others
Close to city centre and parking possibilities near the hotel. The bathrooms are very poor quality. The rooms are very small. The room I have reserved was not available for the whole stay at the hotel (just 2 nights). The room rate at bookings.com was higher than the room rate available directly at the hotel desk and announced on the street, but the lower rate was applied. The information on the website does not give any information about the bathrooms.
Convenient to train and city center. Budget friendly. Room was not cleaned and towels were left outside on the dirty hall carpet. Minimal breakfast.
Free Internet Access, Close to the city centre The bathroom was very basic in our room, prefer not to get my feet wet when I go to the toilet after the shower has been used.
The third bed was a camp bed which was uncomfortable on my back.
We could get a cup of coffee or tea any time; nice to have since no hotel in Europe seems to have a coffee maker. Also, location is great. The statement regarding parking should be made clearer. The hotel only las 4 parking spots and I would have reserved one if I had realised this. So I had to park on the street risking being ticketed.
we booked a room for 3 people and they had a room for 2 people reserved
Staff was very friendly, location was good, breakfast was nice There was a disgusting smell of sewage in the bathroom, which spread over the whole room.
Location was very good, only a 2 min walk from the station.
decent room; excellent breakfast; near station and town centre. All-around value for money at danish prices.
Convenient location. World's coolest cheese cutter at breakfast (along with delicious food).
I liked it fine, this is the second time I have stayed there and might come back. There is a difference between rooms, some are much bigger than others (for same money) some have good working refridgerators, but not others etc
1) I had one staff negative impression. Because she was offensive to me to confirm our stay plan (check-out date) like our fault, which finally was her mistake. It seems she did not herself check in advance. Even if customer's mistake, i think, her offensive attitude to the customer is not proper. 2) The hotel has not well equiped considering the price.(No bathtub is main proint).
Central location, parking facilities, good breakfast very old rooms, noisy
very homely feel. staff were very helpful and friendly. hotel had extra touches such as coffee in lobby and car park. nothing about the hotel but i got food poisoning from oriental bbq around the corner so wouldn't recommend guests go there.
Wi-fi, free pc in the hall, excellent staff, good breakfast, good wide room with large windows, sofa, minibar and lcd tv Pay parking in the street only
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. You also get free tea/coffee/hot chocolate whenever you want (which was great considering how cold it was when we went!). In the afternoon for an hour or so, there are also free Danish pastries, food and savoury snacks. Given how expensive Denmark is, we thought these were nice touches and made this hotel very good value for money.
Friendly staff and good service
The hotel is convenient for both the city centre of Odense and the Train Station. It provides a reasonably comfortable place to stay with a good breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is some car parking if required. From what I can tell most hotels in Odense are not really up to the high standards to be found in other European cities. Hotels in Denmark can be expensive. Hotel Ansgar cost about the same as a British 3-4 star hotel with 2 star quality. We had two rooms and both were dusty and in need of refurbishment. Otherwise it was ok.
Good location, helpful and friendly staff, free refreshments throughout the day, pleasant walk to town centre, a hotel of some character. Our allocated room was beside a busy road and noisy which would have spoilt our stay but staff were happy to change us to another room overlooking park with a pleasant aspect.
nice terrace & lobby, breakfast quite ok small room, dirty chair & bed cover, cheap paper, no body lotion & soap provided (which is usual for 4* hotels)
I cannot really say I liked it, but I am happy it was only for one night. A lot of money for an old hotel. Single rooms are small, poorly illuminated and quite depressing. Bathrooms don't help to improve the feeling...
I liked very substantial and healthy buffet-style breakfast, as well as your staff who were very handy and fast, not to forget to point out their knowledge of foreign languages, especially English. It is situated by railway, so I heard the noise of trains coming to the station although I slept on the fifth floor.Since I paid my hotel invoice in cash, I did not like leaving deposit of 500 DKK per day at the reception (which in my case was 2,000 DKK) and you had my credit card number. I have never heard about such a hotel policy.
Location. free wireless internet room was small and hotel was old.
The receptionist on duty on my arrival was really efficient and helpful. Room was clean, with large ensuite bathroom, good shower. Food was excellent in the restaurant on the evening I ate there, and breakfasts were good as well. Free coffee, juices and snacks were available in the afternoon - very nice touch and appreciated on return from a busy work day. My room was quite dark, better lighting and more modern furniture would help. There were not enough power points - I could not use my laptop, have the desk light on and charge my phone at the same time.
renovation to old
Location small room, need for a renovation in furniture, lack of services for a 4 star hotel.
Lovely old world hotel with lots of character. Good breakfast
the hotel was very central which was essential with a young baby The access to the hotel was very difficult with a pram - 2 flights of stairs and heavy doors. Also our room only had a shower so there was no way to bath our baby, but the staff were very accommodating and gave us the use of another room for bath times!
Very clean and close downtown very small room
Free internet. Splendid view from breakfast room. Friendly staff not enough space for cases when two people share the room
Excellent basic self contained accommodation Narrow bed, only 80 cm wide in economy room, causing me to fall out of bed
Price Staff not friendly ! little rooms
The centrale place of the hotel The rooms are very small, we liked the concept but did not know we would expect. The price was high for this sort of room
No clear conditions on breakfast pricing. Staff no really helpful
Excelent location, near the center and the railway station.
The view in the 'restaurant' (place for the breakfast)
Location next to the railway station Considering the size of the room, it was pretty expensive
The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was also free wireless internet. The economy room was really small. It was difficult to store much luggage in the room. It was fine for a short visit, but may not be comfortable for a longer one. The bathroom was also very small and the shower is designed so that it is difficult to shower without getting everything in the bathroom wet.
It was quiet and the staff were polite and friendly. The wifi access was excellent. The room was very hot and it was impossible to keep it cool without opening both the balcony door and the main room door. There was no door chain so when any door was open there was no security.
Breakfast. The balcony was wide open for anybody to look into.
Hotel's location No
The hotel has quite some facilities, and is professional. Personnel is friendly and helpful. Hotel is OK for a holiday, but it's atmosphere is a bit business-like (which is not strange seeing that the hotel also serves as a congress centre outside the holiday period, and noticing that Denmark mainly has such business-hotels and KROs, but no real holiday-hotels).
Exploring the town of Faaborg and the ease of hopping a ferry to Aero Island
I enjoyed the staff and the food was straight from heaven .The hotel is showing its age as in ware and tare. The staff was great the location wonderful. But Denmark is over prised for travellers .Compared to what you get in the big world you are to expensive. Thank you for a great stay As I said before Denmark in general is over priced .I travel a lot and think twice before coming to Denmark on pleasure trip.
Very dated decor, dated and very poor shower facilities. Infact shower was virtually unusable!
free parking, included breakfast (in contrast to the website information), free refreshments, excellent staff room could be a little cleaner, the shower curtain could be replaced by a door
Staff was very helpful and polite. The hotel was in a good location. Complimentary hot drinks available all the time.
Only pay parking. No restraunt in the hotel.
Very close to the centre of town, but quiet nevertheless. Not really. I'd go there more often if they offered deals such as 'stay for 3 nights - pay only for 2'.
The breakfast is nice, the room, the bedsheet, and so on, are tidy and clean. But the bathroom is too small.
thre was aloway tae wich was very nice and free caek the food was graeyt.
Staff is very friendly, free internet, free coffee, tea and sweeties. Don't eat the scrambled eggs!
convenient location in the middle of Odense.
The staff, esspecially in the morning, was not friendly and were not customer oriented. The removal of the breakfast dishes, while a lot of people were still having breakfast were unnecessary.
Wireless internet is good Free Coffee in restaurant is good. Room and furniture is rather old.
Nothing was ok in the hotel They can't sell a room for 4 people in which there is no space for moving. It was unbelieveble and bad sleeping in that situation. The door of the toilet couldn't close. Nobody at the reception when I arrived, just a woman from a videocamera. When I did checkout they asked me 6% of commission on my credit card. I refused to pay them, and complained about the room. Anyway, the worst hotel in my life
Location for us No receptionist. TV transmitted reception not what we want! Rooms miniscule small!
The triple room was huge and had a small kitchen.
The breakfast was good, except for the coffee. The place is a conversion with the lift half a stair away from the floors. The room was not very confortable, the flip-window does not stay open to ventilate so in their desperation guests brake a piece of cheap plastic hanger to prop it open. Our room had a bad floorplan, no place to put anything. No kleenex box.
Good breakfast. Good location (2 minutes to the city center) Very small room (especially for the family with 2 kids). You have zero free space if you open the kids' bed. Tiny bathroom. Noise from the bar\disco on the same street till 23:30. Limited parking space on the street from 18:00 to 9:00.
the surroundings and general layout of the hotel, also the electronically adjustable beds. it looked just like the pictures that were shown of it and would stay again. cant say there was anything I didnt like
The hotel is located in a remote area. It is usually used for business conferences but my husband and I enjoyed the area. The dinners were excellent. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are small and efficient but that is the European style.
Beautiful surroundings of the hotel and the area. Charming and comfortable lobby area in old building. Good service. Room was small.
Nice setting and historic buildings This is a conference centre owned by the Danish teachers union and as such is not really like a normal hotel. The room was tiny and was only suitable for a stop-over. I have a big aversion to black mould growing in showers. There were no black-outs or proper curtains which made it difficult to sleep at this time of year (June). The breakfast was only served between 8 am and 9 am and we saw no other guests during our stay. Why does booking.com advertise 'only one remaining room at this price' and yet the hotel is empty?
