Pros: This is a gorgeous pub with a few rooms. Linda the owner was so accommodating for us and made us feel at home instantly. The rooms are lovely and well equipped. The pub itself is great with a great garden too. We didn't eat here as were only there for one night for a local wedding, but the breakfast was excellent! Thank you for a great stay!

Pros: Everything was excellent. The accommodation, the staff, the pub, the atmosphere and the food. The accommodation was extremely clean and bed very comfortable. The host was excellent and made us feel very welcome. She was expecting us (by name) on arrival, and reserved a table for us in the evening, despite the restaurant being full. The menu and food was tremendous. I can't rate it highly enough and would definitely stay there again,
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovaton house was a working farm in a rural setting and was very nice. The breakfast was a very good start to the day. It was a very family orientated environment (complete with the family dogs!) and we felt very welcome for the duration of our stay.
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, peace and tranquillity and well situated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Home from home atmosphere
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The family, especially the children are lovely and so much fun. Breakfast was excellent with local produce. Although remote in location, this means there are lovely countryside views and a superb garden.
Cons: We were given the family room which was in need of a good makeover. Wallpaper coming away from the walls. Window ledges were grubby. There was a plastic knife on the floor at the side of the bed so obviously not well cleaned prior to us arriving. There was a bulb missing from the bedside lamp and also the mirror light in the bathroom did not work. The property is very remote but I guess that's to be expected as this is a working farm. In short, I think that the family have so much to do on the farm, the accomodation comes lower on priority. We did see the other room at the property and this had been re-decorated and looked very smart.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A warm and friendly welcome in a beautiful remote location. Breakfast was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed, excellent breakfast, fridge in room for milk etc, little extras provided eg cake and apple juice. The focus is on local produce - all excellent!
Cons: All good!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcoming atmosphere and the overall attention to achieve the nicest possible stay. We enjoyed a thouroughly good restful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a lovely weekend and Jane and the family were so nice. Couldn’t fault anything.
Cons: It is a lovely place to stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room and the bathroom were very big which gave us our own space in the house. My dog absolutely loved the fields they allow you to have access too and the family who live there are lovely! Breakfast was lush and within the cost of the room- I couldn’t see whenbooking it it was a BnB!
Cons: My partner would have preferred having a key to lock the bedroom and definitely make sure your car wheels can take a bumpy road.. but it is a farm so expect this!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely breakfast. We were looked after by several members of the family. Lovely room.
Cons: The view from our bedroom.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very warm welcome, beautiful setting, well appointed rooms, good breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfasts (esp for me as I only eat fruit at breakfast and most of it was home grown!) My partner rated the full English! The bed was very good as hotel/b&b beds go! The location suited us very well. Mr & Mrs Munday were very pleasant and attentive to our needs..
Cons: My partner struggled a bit with the stairs but he does have Parkinson's so that's normal. We booked too late to have the pick of places with disabled facilities/lifts etc. Didn't like the shower. Hate those 'watering can heads' which wet your hair whether you want it or not! It was easy to switch it on by mistake and couldn't get it completely out of the way. The funny little hand held shower head was pretty useless but it was a boon. The main gate was a bit of a pain as it needed me to get out of the car to open and shut it - needs an electronic device but I suppose that's a zillion quid! It was great to be offered use of the dining room for snacking in but I think what all B&Bs need is guest access to washing up facilities and a microwave. That's just me, but I'd be in a camper van given the option!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I stayed at Lowerfield House on the 15th December and we could not have had a better stay. Steve and Sandra greeted us with hot scones and tea/coffee on arrival. Our room was warm and quiet, had great views and the bed was beautiful to sleep on. Our breakfast was gorgeous and set us up for the day. We will definitely return to Lowerfield should we need accommodation in the area again.
Cons: .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and welcoming hosts
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hosts. Delicious breakfast and v good coffee.
Cons: Not too keen on the bedding , prefer pure cotton sheets and feather duvet or woollen blankets. And better pillows. The bed was firm but quite comfortable, but better pillows would be an improvement. Prefer less strong smell of the washing powder.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing find. modern facilities in a beautiful house. It was a calm, quiet and private place to stay. The spacious room had a gorgeous view of the countryside. Our hosts were really friendly chatty and great cooks for breakfast. They had alpacas and chickens and there were even baby Shetland ponies. Plus the pub is a 10 min walk away. Wins all round!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the cream tea on arrival, local beers, cider and wine in a small fridge on the landing, tasty breakfast with homemade jam and the friendly owners
Cons: The weather on the morning of our departure

Cons: Menu limited in comparison to previous visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A relaxed break, friendly staff, great rooms, fantastic food would definitely recommend.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Huge choice of beautifully prepared hot dishes
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the first time I have stayed in a hotel with my dog. All of the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and a good size for me. Up one flight of stairs, not too steep. There was an over bath shower which worked well. I was given a key to be able to let myself in and out once the pub was closed. I ate lunch, dinner and breakfast in the pub and the food was excellent and sometimes exceptional. The pub is a busy and friendly local village pub. I know the village from the past, so I was very happy walking in the area. There is fairly regular bus service to Torrington and Bideford, and, Exeter. If I return to this part of Devon, I would stay again. I would also recommend to others to stay and to eat.
Cons: Only the weather!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly obliging staff. Lovely breakfasts and dinner. Lovely rooms.
Cons: Told on arrival no dinners served Sunday and Monday. Of course we arrived on Sunday. However, the manager organised someone to take us to a neighbouring town to the pub there. Our room wasn’t cleaned on Tuesday either and same comment ‘ didn’t she tell you’ Obviously some issues happening with the organisation as locals said it’s all happened before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed & had an evening meal which was excellent, the staff were fantastic & just what we needed, a short break away from work & mobiles!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bedroom lovely and breakfast excellent
Cons: Shower a little small
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food and friendly staff Close to RHS Rosemoor for overnight stop
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very warm welcome by all concerned. Nothing was too much trouble to resolve Our issues were sorted immediately Excellent meals We were made to feel very welcome and like guests rather than an inconvenience.
Cons: Issues could have been avoided if someone had bothered to check our room before our arrival and instructions on use of appliances in the room would have avoided some embarrassment I think it is inappropriate to list this as 5 star accommodation. It may have been. A short history is given in the rooms telling us of how Nico the owner and his colleague Vanessa took over this year and are slowly renovating the property. They are doing a great job and I wished them well with their venture and I am sure once finished they will deserve the stars
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely stay in Dolton, superb accommodation at the Rams Head fantastic service as always.

Cons: Was quiet happy with everything

Pros: The breakfasr was excellent, cooked to perfection by Wendy !! Very olde worlde but what was expected from a 15th century Devon building in a countryside village Facilities in the room were good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location and an ideal place to unwind and relax after a day travelling.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The included breakfast was excellent and eating/drinking in the restaurant or bar should not be missed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A very old building, once 4 cottages now a country pub offering accommodation in a lovely village overlooking fields through to Dartmoor. Every cooked meal was hot and delicious using locally sourced food as much as possible. Staff friendly and very welcoming. It is as it is, a very old country pub that has obviously been the social hub of village life for very many years. Quaint and very charming.
Cons: Being such an old building the stairs leading to the bedrooms where we were, are quite steep, we did, however have help with luggage. We managed though and got used to it after a while.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My 2nd stay over at the DOY very welcoming community pub, it's the hub of the village, food quality is outstanding and great VFM, drinks well kept with ample selection, breakfast excellent. Historic 15 century building, if buildings could talk it would have lots of stories!
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Great food and friendly staff
Cons: Being woken early by the cockreal
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place to stay will certainly stay again if I’m in that area
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the staff and locals. Often when you enter a bar, the locals look you up and down and you can feel a sort of atmosphere. Complete opposite here. Very friendly and welcoming. It could be down to the fact that it's quite a remote location and they're happy to see folk coming out of their way to visit The Duke and the village of Iddlesleigh. We ate in the bar, good pub grub. The restaurant seemed very popular too. And the Winkleigh Morris Dancers performed on the Tuesday evening.
Cons: Nothing really. If you're expecting to stay in an old fashioned English country pub, you shouldn't be disappointed.
