With a stay at The Crested Crane Bwindi in Kyesero, you'll be in the mountains, and 7.9 mi (12.7 km) from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and 5.5 mi (8.9 km) from Bwindi Community Hospital. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely staff. Great crested cranes( crowned cranes) by the dozen. Only 15 min drive to Bwindi Buhoma gate.. a good gate to enter as usually not too far to trek for gorillas. Free Wifi good. Food was home cooked and good. Spacious accommodation comfy and very secure. Great views.
Cons: Local roads are very slow as they are rough but this is not their fault!! The tarmac stops at Rukungiri and then it is slow so plan your trip!
With a stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge in Bwindi, you'll be in a national park, just steps from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Gorilla Safari Lodge is ideally situated near the Rushaga Gorilla Trekking meeting point. The drive to the Lodge is exciting, especially being on a self-drive holiday. The cottage is nice in a beautiful garden and cleanliness is OK. During diner, staff is placing briquettes in the chimney and hot water bags in bed. Might be good in cold climate, but temperatures reached 20+°C already without it...
Cons: Whereas the staff is really helpful we did not feel the same warmth as at all other places we stayed at in Uganda. Rosemary was the exception as she is a really warm person. Considering the high price we paid, we had expected more luxury and especially a higher standard restaurant. Food (breakfast and diner) was not meeting our expectation at all and the least of all places we stayed at in Uganda.
Pros: Very nice place, friendly staff, located at the heart of the mountain (1h30 hour drive in the mountain from Kisoro airstrip, for an extra 50 dollars per way to be paid to the lodge), excellent to do the Gorilla Treck in Bwindi (booking and payment can be arranged directly with the lodge) Honestly, one of the most confortable beds we have ever tried. This was extremely appreciated. Advise: 1 day for arrival + visit of the local village. 1 day for the gorilla treck. next day departure.
Cons: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were not as good as expected, but okay. Bathroom is open to the room, so not much privacy but ok for couple of days.
Pros: The hotel helped us to obtain the permit and also arranged the transfer services. While it took time for them to response, we could obtain the permit and also enjoyed the travel between the airport and here. They also suggested us to change our travel plan and accommodated the change. Good support of the staffs, that we liked.
Cons: When we arrived late in the night, the reception was already closed and the dinner was not provided. But the staffs did the best they could do. We also constantly listened the voices of local people late in the night and we were afraid of the strong voices.
Pros: The property is in an excellent location for a gorilla safari as it is literally within walking distance of the gate into the Bwindi National Park. The staff are super helpful, our driver David did an excellent job transferring us to and from the lodge to Kigali in Rwanda. The rooms have an open fire that was lit for us whilst we were at dinner and a hot water bottle was in bed waiting for us.
Cons: Although the package we booked stated it was all inclusive for local beer and wine there was a limit as to how much was included. On arrival we were told that beer and wine by the glass was included in the package but spirits and bottles of wine were not. Yes we ordered a bottle of wine and expected to pay for that, but we were not expecting a total bill of US $170 because we drank more glasses of wine than the allowed. If there is a limit it should be told to the customers up front.
Pros: The staff were very professional and extremely helpful!
Cons: Needs upgrade and the price but value is excessively low in comparison to others. Provide additional coal in rooms for fast burning coal. WiFi in rooms a critical mass for improvement. Food quality needs critical improvement.
Pros: We were staying here unfortunately just a short time but we loved this place so much that we would have loved to stay longer. The service is indescribable good and the food also ! Everything to be happy you can find here.
Cons: Kein Strom

Pros: The restaurant staff was great and the food was always good.
Cons: The hotel is way over priced for what you get, the hot water system in the showers needs a revamp. Changed rooms but that didnt really improve the issue
Cons: Paying the bill.
Pros: It appeared safe and was clean. It was near Ishasha!
Cons: The electricity went off in the morning, and my phone could not be charged from the room. It was frustrating tripping over the posts that held the mosquito netting. The nets should have been part of the bed not separate posts. Solar lighting could have been used to mark the paths to the rooms. The doors were difficult to lock because they were so old.

Pros: A lot. Very good Wi-Fi. Bed was very big. Food was delicious and beer was cold ;) all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Manager helped us with arranging a nature walk in Bwindi!
Pros: The food was really good (although it took a while since they bought the ingredients from the market after we ordered - we'd recommend you order when you check-in) and the waiter was really nice. Location is very close to Ishasha section of QENP.
Cons: No warm water (most of the time there were power outages), very uncomfortable bed and pillows, people chatting and hanging out in the yard right in front of the rooms (above the door there's only a mosquito net instead of a wall) - till 2am
Pros: Extremely helpful and kind and welcoming staff. Special thanks to Vicent for all his help. He even arranged a mechanic to come and fix our car. Excellent breakfast. Great starting point for Ishasha and QENP.
Pros: Good location, friendly staff. Helped with organising our trip to queen elizabeth
Pros: Good place to stop for the night between Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi. Ishasha is pretty close for a game drive. Food was pretty good and reasonable value.
Cons: Not much happening in the town at all
Pros: The staff was great, very helpful. The food was great and the room was comfortable.
Cons: The price was too much for what it is.
Pros: Convenient and very clean place to stay in Kihihi. We had a room in the hotel next door as it was full but the rooms were identical and we had meals at Suba which were good - goat curry is highly recommended!
Cons: Pillow was far too big to be used
Pros: Nice, clean place, comfortable beds :)
Pros: Comfortable beds. Nice sitting area in the courtyard. Decent and cheap restaurant. Laundry facilities, or do your own and there is hanging space. Useful stopover between gorilla tracking and the Queen Elizabeth NP. WiFi worked well.
Cons: West-facing rooms get very hot in the afternoon so are still too warm overnight. Choose a room opposite if you can. No secure parking (though this wasn't a problem for us).
Pros: I really didn’t like anything! It is very bad place to stay!
Cons: Any other place will be better than that one! Staff was not nice at all slow and lazy. The bed is really uncomfortable. Hot and stuffy room. All the rooms are near the kitchen so all the smell of fryers goes into the room. And this is also next to where everyone is sitting so there is noise until very very late. In addition (although it is written on booking that they take credit card) they charge a really high extra fee for that. And if you don't pay in dollars they put a much higher conversion fee than the actual daily rate (from dollar to shilling) .. Plus the wifi there is really bad, and I needed help sending some urgent email and they didn’t tried to help me in any way. Just answer “sorry, no”.. didn’t even looked at me and keep playing with his cellphone..
With a stay at Efrazi Motel in Kanungu, you'll be 4.9 mi (7.9 km) from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and 19.1 mi (30.8 km) from Rukungiri Community Church. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
Pros: The breakfast was nice and huge. The view was nice.
Cons: There was no electrisity or water in all of the rooms. Bathrooms were quite dirty. No wi-fi no restaurant or bar, wich isn't that good because this is in the middle of nowhere.
