Located 60 km from the Palenque Archaeological Site, Ecolodge Resort Yokib offers lush gardens and stylish rooms with private bathrooms. You can swim in natural pools formed by 2 nearby streams. Surrounded by tropical forest, Ecolodge Resort Yokib is built in a traditional rustic style using local wood and limestone. All of its rooms include a fan. The Valle Escondido restaurant offers breakfast and lunch. Breakfast includes seasonal fruit, cereal, coffee and eggs. In high season, there is also a bar service. The surrounding jungle is ideal for hiking and bird watching. Free parking is available on site, and Palenque town is around 1 hour and 20 minutes away by car.
Pros: The family that owns Parador Valleescondido could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The hotel (which is also a working farm) is located in a long valley with lovely views of mountains and fields. The stream on the property has a deep spot which is perfect for cooling off. Guests also can wander the lovely little fruit and vegetable garden (which provides some fresh produce for meals). Our cabana was an oasis of comfort, nestled among trees, vines and flowering plants with a porch equipped with a hammock and wooden chairs and the stream running just beside it. The interior of the cabana was stylishly embellished in the bathroom and shower with rough-hewn limestone walls and floors (the shower was a simulated water fall). The staff made meals to suit our vegetarian diet and provided us with whatever we asked for. We spent one day just relaxing. On our second day, we asked to go to a little-known Mayan ruin and waterfalls which our hosts arranged as a custom tour in their truck. Cesar, one of the sons, was our guide and lead us on a wonderful half-day adventure. We had the, mostly un-excavated but partially intact, ruins to ourselves, and afterwards had a delicious swim in a clear aqua pool at the base of a waterfall. Though the waterfalls were busy because it was Good Friday, it was not overly crowded -- mostly Mayan families enjoying the holiday! At the beginning and end of our stay, our hosts picked us up and returned us to the town of Palenque and helped us get transportation to Villahermosa. By the time we left Parador Vallescondido, Cesar, Willy Sr. and Willy Jr. seemed to us like old friends!
Cons: I really can't think of anything we didn't like.
Pros: Beautiful location on a farm with a friendly staff and kind, knowledgeable owners. Great food with everything coming from the gardens.
Cons: We wanted to stay longer but our schedule didn’t permit.
Pros: Cesar the ownwer's son was incredibly helpful. Always available, booked a tour for us, answered all questions. If you plan to see Bonampak & Yaxachilan, this is THE place to stay! Cuts hours off a really long day. Breakfast is plentiful, dinner is too, and well cooked with fresh vegetables.
Pros: Caesar, one of the owners, made sure our stay was perfect. We had dinner with him both nights, and he was a gracious and wonderful host. We would recommend this place to anyone! Greatly exceeded our expectations on every level.
Pros: Personal family business
Pros: Hugo and staff were super friendly, full of advice on the area. Spacious and comfortable rooms, great restaurant for dinner and breakfast
Cons: It is a long road to Rio Lacanja (count 1h30) and Yaxchilan (count 2h) as the road is full of topes. But this is certainly one of the best places in the area.
Pros: This place is beautiful! The ranch is tucked away in the jungle atmosphere of Chiapas an hour or so from Palenque. Close to the sites of Bonampak and Yaxchilan and beautiful waterfalls. The room is spacious and clean. They serve an excellent menu with local foods and a good breakfast. What we liked best of all was the host Cesar and Hugo as well. Thank you for everything!
Pros: The location was wonderful, off the beaten path a bit but totally worth it. The local people are lovely and very friendly.
Cons: I wish we could’ve stayed longer.
Pros: Cesar and the staff were so wonderful! They did everything to make our stay perfect. We also loved the natural swimming pool.
