Close to campus Linen change greater than once
Very charming hostel with lovely staff. A nice restored building. Excellent buffet breakfast in a smaller separate building with a garden all around. Care is taken to propose natural food. Eco friendly.
Beautiful facility in quiet setting. Nice gardens and great restaurant. Very attentive staff. Close to bus and tram stops. Nothing but good things to say about this hotel.
Hotel setting very good - nice grounds. Different from many commercial hotels.
The friendliness of the staff. Small and sparsely furnished rooms.
Unique rooms and friendly staff
very big room in mansarda (36 mq).; new furnishings; very good breakfast; constellation lights on the ceiling room the ceiling mansarda bathroom was too low
free internet connection and coffee. Comfortable warm room. Had to wait to use computer as there was only one
Close to city centre Poor breackfast. Essential fornitures and comfort in the room
The free bus pass which enabled us to leave our car and see Basel.
Tea and Coffee facilities appreciated. Free access provided to excellent public transport system, from outside the front door. Quiet and comfortable. No airconditioning so the provided fan was valuable. Cannot comment on breakfast as the cost seemed excessive.
clean rooms, good beds noise from the tramway, parking system was not well explained
Everything was ok
very comfortable and convenient Found the rooms were very hot!
The hotel was very clean, luxurius, close to the city centre. It also offers free transport in the city with all the public transportation as long as someone stays there. The breakfast should be inclouded in the price.
location Wireless internet in public areas was not free as it was in hotel information. Staff was not able to solve whas giving such information and why is right - promissed inform next day but did not.
good location on the tram line. breakfast is expensive.
Tram was too noisy during the night
the breakfast, the quiet position, the look out of my window
Location -> very easy to access some Novartis sites (Schoren and Klybeck) and also some central places in Basel (Claraplatz, marktplatz, etc) I would suggest a more healthy breakfast (more fruits and/or fresh juices)
The night was noisy (street noise) and with no air conditioning it was very warm. The hotel personnel were warm and courteous. It was hot and noisy at night/
The hotel staff was nice and a pass for transport around the city is given at arrival. I did not my booking really quick and was looiking for something cheap and in town. Unfortunately, this hotel is in the darkest part of town. Not recommended if you are a women on your own as you have to walk a bit from parking to hotel if you are driving (not so advisable at night). Red light district...
Convienient to the Messe The bed
Would not advise for women travelers. Hotel is in prostitution district.
This is not a recommendable hotel for booking.com. This damages your image!!! Hotel White Horse is a hore house. Being with my daughter of 28 I very was embarassed in such a place.
Hotel with prostitutes!
The room was value for money and the hotel staff were amazingly helpful. in addition the hotel was well located for my work in the city. there is a bar downstairs and the room assigned to me was on the stairs which was noisy between 2 and 3 am in the morning.
Noise from bar downstairs even in cortyard room. Tobacco smell from bar downstairs. No hot water.
right in the city center
Very good location, near several transports and commerce Hotel is in the red light district, very noisy room, couldn´t get no sleep at night, several bars near the hotel, prostitutes in every corner of the street, i wouldn´t recommend this hotel to women traveling alone or couples.
The tranquillity of the surroundings and the reasonable room rate. Also, the staff was very kind, if present (see below). The main disadvantages of this hotel are, in my view: (1) Except in the morning, there is rarely someone present at the reception, so there is little occasion to express any wish, such as "where can I get a bottle of mineral water?". (2) There is no drawing-room where one can sit comfortably e.g. to read a book or to have a drink before going to bed. One is confined to one's own room. Everywhere else the lights go out automatically after a few minutes and there is no living soul to be seen.
The room was very big, with a great minimal design. Very quiet and relaxing.
Simple for 4 star hotel but OK.
Location: 5 mins from centre of Basel via tram yet very quiet . Excellent breakfast, helpful staff.
Quiet hotel with free internet, flexible staff The bed was fairly uncomfortable, with only one (very thin) pillow available.
Conveniently located for business travel. Very quiet - good night's sleep! Currently the roads around the hotel are undergoing maintaince, so it can be difficult to locate the hotel.
the context none
Spacious room and big bed. Location and easy parking. Breakfast. Eventhough it finally works out well the lack of an employed receptiondesk during low hours (evening and weekend) feels uncomfortable. Bedpillows are slightly too soft.
Very quiet. In no way a four star hotel and did not give the mobility ticket to guests.
Location, spacious room, breakfast. Not disliking but strange that the receptiondesk is unemployed during the evening.
1. Entirely clean. 2. Great view of the Museum of History and the little square in front of it. (At least from my room.) 3. Good location with pedestrian streets & many shops; just a few tram stops from main train station. 4. Staff are friendly; they are there mostly for the restaurant, but they try to be helpful. 5. If you must stay in Basel, there is no real reason to not stay here. It is simple but it works fine with no major issues. 1. About 150% overpriced, as is most everything in Switzerland, 2. WiFi was very weak in the room (about 35%); I often had to go into the hallway to get webpages to load. 3. Only 1 male toilet on the floor, which means that sooner or later you will wait or have to go to another floor. 4. Mattress was a bit too firm. 5. Cleaning staff only there in the morning, so if you sleep in until noon, your room will not be cleaned. 6. The office is closed on Sunday, making it impossible to print out anything on that day. 7. The kind of place that has to put an ashtray in the WC, because if they did not, guests would create burn stains on the top of the toilet paper dispenser by leaving their lit cigs there while wiping their butts.
From the time we arrived they made us feel special right down to the teddy bears for our children. The room was fantastic and very spacious and the hotel was handy to town via the No. 14 tram. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The styling was not to my taste, I found the modern euro motif a little cold and sterile.
Location cleanliness and modern feel
Good location and very helpful and friendly staff - would definitly stay again
The staff at the front desk spoke very good English-very helpful! Also, we had a medical situation that required ice - lots of it - and they were good to give us as much as we needed. This was our first time in Europe, and we were unaware of the differences there. It is expensive and few free amenities, but I can't blame the hotel - just different expectations since we are used to US hotels. There was free internet and a few free English tv stations. No ice machines in the hall, etc, but it was obvious that people there had a different lifestyle, and this wasn't necessarily different for them.
The quality of service was excelle, very helpful. Location is a short tram journey from city centre.
Very nice room, very quiet. The hotel is far from teh center, but the tram is near by.
great place to stay only a few minutes from the centre of Basel and from the euroairport no fridge in the room
Location and comfort of hotel. Suited our needs perfectly.
next to station dinner/breakfast very expensive; kingsize bed not of good quality
We were expecting to check our bags and wait until check in time however your staff said we could use the room immediatly and we really appreciated this courtesy. We also had dinner with another couple and really enjoyed the dining room. Good experiance. All of our comments were positive
Considerable service to guests. No.
Very helpful reception staff
Good value for money, the location was great, across the street from the train station and Bern is nice to see as well. Nothing, all was well
Very spacious room, with good bathroom products, including robes and slippers, excellent tea/coffee tray with many varieties of tea, attractively decorated room with good external blind system. Very good breakfast table, including prosecco! There was some noise from the tram station outside but this did not trouble us overnight.
Very close to train and tram station The beds are small
Everything was ok, excellent location (100 m. from cental railway station in Basel) , friendly staff, good and tasty breakfast, easy-to-use internet access.
Breakfast Tram noise
The location was great, the room was nice and quiet. I would definitely return here.
Convenience, next to the train station. We were confirmed for a higher floor and was given the lowest floor with the rooms.
Great staff, good position for my needs. The fact that I had to pay SFr 15 for parking. The hotel should have a deal with the shopping centre whereby hotel residents do not pay.
New, modern, clean hotel with free wifi which was useful for business travellers Breakfast was fairly minimal - when I went down at 8.30 there was little food left and no clean tables to sit at.
It exceeds its 3 star quality, made things so easy for us. City tax was uncluded in the final price, not informed about that.
Very clean room. Excellent shower. Free access to internet No evening meal in restaurant
Everything seemed very efficient. Broadband was excellent. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Check-in and check-out were straightforward. The hotel had only just opened so a few things were still being finished off (e.g. some electric light fittings, stairwell). Towels were very thin. Cupboards seemed slightly poor quality. Furnishing was somewhat stark/cold/minimalist.
modern, clean, spacious, large selection of TV channels, free tickets to travel on city buses and trams We could very clearly hear the heavy footsteps of the customer(s) pacing the room above ours.
Nice new building next to the new shopping mall in Basel/Kleinhünigen. It is right off the motorway in the Klein Basel (north of the Rhein) section of Basel but not very convenient for travellers looking to stay in the city centre. However it is a short drive/short bus ride or medium tram ride into the central areas of Basel. The hotel is brand new and modern, but still under a bit of construction as of 01 Oct. the bed was "tempurpedic" type material, but I felt it was very firm and uncomfortable.
Staff were very helpful. room was comfortable. We had breakfast one morning and felt it was good value. Free internet was helpful as was the mobility card providing free tram and bus travel. should we return to Basel we would book this hotel
The hotel is new, clean and situated in the shopping center, you could spend you free time with pleasure.
The rooms corresponded to their description and photos on the site. The coffee at breakfast could be of better quality. Maybe replace self service machine by waiter service and coffee from a better quality machine.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Nice sized room, good sound proofing and an excellent nights sleep. The breakfast area was very clean with a good select of breads & Jams, fruit and meats .Would definitely stay here again. The free mobility pass for hotel guests was a nice extra.
Central location. Large rooms. Helpful staff. Noisey area outside. Red light area on next block. Bed linen not changed during 4 days.
good location, quite neighbourhood
Went for the International Football Match. Great location for seeing Basel, good transport links if walking too far isn't your thing. Very helpful reception staff.
Very nice and confortable rooms. Friendly staff. There are no pictures in the room.
O.K for a short stay, basic room.
Good sized room, nice and warm, nice bathroom, friendly staff (if they are around), breakfast OK though basic. An OK hotel for a budget business stay, 5-10 mins walk to Messe/Congress Center. Industrial/minimalist design (floors and ceilings of varnished concrete) will not appeal to everyone. Furniture in rooms is poor quality, and just one small armchair in a double room, no table to go with it.
Restaurant not working on weekends.
The hotel was fairly modern and conveniently located just 30 metres from the river and from 2 tram lines. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was in the middle of a small red light district, flanked on both sides by brothels and at night there were some dodgy looking people lurking about, but during the day it was fine.
It is very closed to the city center
Comfortable, well located, clean and good value
I found the staff very helpful and location of the hotel exelent. I was overall happy with having stayed,it was also value for money
the rooms were too small and least accessories
We enjoyed that the hotel is located very close to the train station, and the tram network which runs every 10 or so minutes.
Very clean and new Hotel Big room and excellent bedding I couldn't find fault wit it - I would highly recommend it Excellent value for money
we all were plesantly suprised very good indeed value for money staff could not do more for us people smoke in rooms although not allowed, breakfast could be more varied on the swiww theme
Staff was very helpful. We had a reservation for a double. The hotel has no separate beds. My son and I had to sleep in the same bed. Outrageous.
New hotel. Very good Ibis accommodation. Tram to an from the centre of Basle just outside the hotel. Free transport pass including the airport bus. No restaurant but snacks available.
Everythings' great, new hotel, clean room and bathroom, helpful staff, close to train station and city centre, good price. Happy to stay at Ibis
Location is convenient and close to the main train station. Very cramped up bathroom. It was more of a cubicle than a bathroom. Hotel could not provide parking as it was all occupied. We had trouble finding one which was away.
Perfect service, friendly staff, excellent room and restaurant/bar
restaurant was excellent! hotel staff were very complaisant!
It is very central for Basel City and one of the few hotels that has a fitness centre.
the breakfast and the concierge i got a manicure and it was poor, they did not have appropirate seats, and no finger drying aparatus whihc is standard... also the room i was booked in really smelled like smoke and so the staff did change me immediately.
nice and clean rooms and the hospitality of the hotel i was not able to get my smooking room i asked forfurthermore, they told me that, they only have like three smooking rooms in the hotelwhich was a bit unconvieniant as this is was not clear in placing my reservation
No smoking inside facility
Staff, cleanliness of room, facilities. The air-conditioning was not working well.
nice staff, clean rooms very expensive car parking, no rates with breakfast included so in the end it is quite expensive per night if you have to pay 35.- per person for breakfast
The Staff is very kind and helpful, the room was very comfortable and perfectly cleaned, the location is ideal to visit the city. It is a real 5 stars hotel. Nothing. (Maybe the breakfast is a bit too expensive. In fact we didn't have it)
Good room. Free tram tickets were very useful. Staff very helpful No
Good central location, quiet (with the windows closed). One of the glasses in the bathroom had a white deposit in it, It had not been cleaned, although it was in a plastic bag. I was charged for breakfast for two persons for two mornings, whereas, in fact we only had breakfast on one morning, (the 7th April).
it is in the central of the city nothing
Friendly reception. Possibility of smoking
The location was great, just round the corner from the train station. The hotel was very nice. My bedroom was decorated very nicely, modern and comfortable. The breakfast room on the 8th floor had great views of the city, and I was very satisfied with the breakfast selection. The mobility ticket (included in the cost of the stay) was very useful. It would have been nice if the hotel had a restaurant, but as the hotel is quite small I suppose there is no space for this. The hotel was also quite expensive, though the rate was probably normal for a city centre hotel in Switzerland.
The staff were brilliant, very helpful and always welcoming. The hotel was surprisingly quiet and the staff knew all the guests. You get a free pass for all the trams/buses in all the city zones and this is an unbelievable saving! Although this isn't in the middle of the old town, it's very close to the station and very very convienient. The trams are all maybe 100m away and you end up taking the tram everywhere! Cannot rate the staff highly enough. Only complaint was that I asked about breakfast and was told that they serve it, but no mention of cost. I thought it was included, but it wasn't, so the bill was higher than I expected, however, I partially blame myself for this!
good access to the train station and the tram stop; very clean and with nice interiors; courteous staff rates are steep compared to hotels with the same proximity to the train station, say, in geneva
Location, service and cleanliness of the room The centralised air conditioning did not appear to be working and when we asked Reception, they said there was no air conditioning and that we should open our windows.
Convenient for the centre of Basel
Very easy access from the main train station and to the city center, quiet, nice view from the 8th floor during the breakfast. Disappointed by the fact that TV did not have dual language fonctionality. Increased fare due to congress taking place during that week so it didn't come to a great value for money for that matter.
Very convenient, clean, friendly and quiet. Breakfast overlooking the city a good start to the day. Lovely decor. Good TV choice.
Lovely bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. Liked the 2 room concept.
Location in centre and close to railroad and airport access bus.
proximity to the station
It was very loud, bed was uncomfortable, food was not available and heating was not controllable
It was convenient to the railroad station, the staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were good. The drain in the shower was very very slow. It took 1/2 hour to empty.
Competent staff. Own car park. Valet parking. Very talented (lady) piano player in the lounge. Excellent central location.
nice rooms very noisy
very comfortable hotel for both business and pleasure poor choice in breakfest buffet
Proximity to railway station Tram noise
Superb bathroom, excellent location. Walls are too thin, neighbouring rooms can easily be heard.
Next door to Red Bar lounge is convenient - unique for Basel. Minimalist taken too far, little signage, confusing lift use has no instructions, reception staff continue talking to you when you are on the phone, mid afternoon cafe in lobby closes and you can not get a drink or food unless you move to L3, Opaque floor in bathroom impractical for a hotel as it looks unclean within moments of use.
The hotel staff was absolutely impeccable in the friendliness and professionalism.
The hotel is near to business centers, and reachable by different public transportation. The room is very clean , and good wifi connection coverage. I didn't have time to check diffrent other hotel facilities. I will stay there next time inshalah. The price received from Booking.com is pretty less than other reservation web sites. the room is small.
The room and what was supplied and the staff Food in the hotel was expensive and the sauna area is small for the size of the hotel
room comfort, design, spa facilities, view
We stayed at Ramada because/easy access to Tram, for Town and Riehen (Beyeler Museum) The staff is inefficient, high German is th language, No Swiss German no French and very poor English
Excellent quality - everything! Great design, style and comfort. best night's sleep I've had in ages. Nothing.
proximity to destination lack of knowledge/information/effort to help from the reception staff on my destination (a couple of blocks away from the hotel!)
