El Castillo was located next to the Templar castle and near the Camino. It is located near the older part of Ponfarrada. Room was on the busy street side and noisy at night.
My main criteria were hotel location and free wifi. Room facilities were also good. Nice outlook. Furnishings (curtains, art work..) perhaps a little outdated. Would have appreciated clearer information about room service
Good location, close to the castle. Reasonably priced meals available.
Location - castle of Tamplier very near (3 min) and this hotel just on Camino Santiago.
easy underground parking at no cost Unfriendly and unhelpful staff, very noisy rooms due to total lack of soundproofing, very basic breakfast
The location was ideal for exploring Ponferrada, and for escaping to the nearby countryside. The room was clean and comfortable with excellent soundproofing to the outside and a nice bathroom. Wifi worked fine. Lack of a minibar in the room. Breakfast was optional, but the hotel cafe didn't look very enticing.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good location.
Service was good, location perfect and the parking was good. Front desk staff were very helpful in giving restaurant recommendations for dinner. Furnishings in the room were basic but in line with the price.
Excellent small hotel, plenty os cafe/restaurants in easy walking distance. Easy to find just follow the signs for the Templar castle and there it is No
Clean rooms, friendly staff, easy to find, delicious breakfast
Pleasant staff, good location within the city and availability of supervised parking. No
Immediately on our arrival the reception staff made us feel very welcome and invited us to take from the free coffee/bar in the lounge. Minimalist design, with every facility. Very easy to find as it is well signposted in the town. Within 5 mins of the old town. Breakfast excellent. View from room good. Better than the AC in Gijon. Would definitely stay in AC again. Nothing.

I liked the cleanliness. The staff were very helpful; Did not like the noisy location, or the fact that the room was too hot and there was no cooling; Did not like the noisy location, or the fact that the room was too hot and there was no cooling; the room was quite small; I would not call it superior
Excellent staff (Language skills, efficiency, courtesy). Prime location for town exploration on foot. Well-furnished, modern and comfortable room, with balcony overlooking town hall square, v. pretty view (but also rather noisy some evenings!). Car parking in paying underground parking was very convenient, (forget about finding free outdoor parking!). WiFi worked. Breakfast choice OK, but breakfast room not so OK (cigarette butts still there from previous evening's restaurant activity!).
The location was great. The room was unique and comfortable. The AC was adequate. The staff friendly and the breakfast regional and delicious.
The young man at the reception was very nice, friendly, and spoke good English. The room was very clean and immaculate with two sinks in the bathroom! The grounds and interior of the hotel were well-appointed and tasteful. I wish the hotel had rooms which were air-conditioned.
I found it very relaxing, which was the focus of my trip. The hotel is nicely appointed and restful.
Everything was fine. Thé staff was very Nice and we slept very good. Would have like fresh croissants for breakfast!
Excellent staff, good facilities for peregrinos doing the camino
Very comfortable room in a good location. Hotel Madrid has a good reputation. Very nice breakfast buffet too!
The friendly staff, the location. Good value for money (special offer found on the internet).
Convenient as 5 mins walk fron the bus station . 15 mins from the old city and castle, looking out on to factories. Breakfast included in price wasn't up to much. All the locals were eating croissants and coffee in the bar
Good for sightseeing of Pontferrada for max. 1-2 days. Breakfast room rather small and crowded
Hotel staff. She helped us to find glasses which my boy forgot in restaurent in the city. The marriage ceremony until 2AM was too noisy.
The hotel has a family feel, is newly decorated and equipped and has good facililities. Excellent food & wine. Delightful waitress who also tried very hard to overcome language difficulties.. Had the only credit card gadget throughout our trip to to reject a perfectly good card! It liked an alternative though.
Fab small hotel with a very high level of cleanliness, comfort and design. Peaceful and relaxing closs to Villa Franca. Forget Booking.com travel directions get yourself a good local map.
Guests may speak English, French and German but at most of the rural hotels Spanish, drawing and body language are the only tools for communication. This hotel had one English speaking manager.
We wanted to stay at the Parador in near Villafranca del Bierzo, but it was closed so we found this small B&B with restaurant. Its about 2km from the town, in the village of Corullon, which itself has an historic building. Our room and bathroom were smallish but carefully furnished and very clean. The restaurant opens at 9.00pm to guests and non residents. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks sitting outside the bar, on the ground floor, which is open to non residents, and where breakfast is served. The food in the restaurant is very simple, soup, cutlets and chips that sort of thing. On the night we dined it was all slightly undercooked, but edible, this seems to be the weakest part of the establishment, although the restaurant itself is very well nicely done with white linen tablecloths and sparkling glasses. This small property has been very carefully decorated and attention has been paid to detail and it has good views. A fine place to stay for a night or two. On the night we dined it was all slightly undercooked, but edible, this seems to be the weakest part of the establishment
The staff (=owners) was more than friendly. It was great to be welcomed with one's name! The room was spacious and the bathroom well-equiped. The restaurant provided delicious local products.
This is a small Hotel, recently built. The rooms are modern and well equipped with an excellent bathroom. We stayed in a junior suite with a small balcony overlooking the village. Everything is spotlessly clean and the service was excellent. Being a small Hotel it was like staying with the family. Miguel, the owner, had enough English to get by with and took great pains in translating the evening menu - a choice of three items for each of the three courses. He then went off and cooked a delicious meal of local cuisine and ingredients. Not bad for 12 euro - including wine and coffee!
