Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke flawless English, without exception. Hotel decor in corridors was a bit gloomy - all grey walls.
The rooms are quiet and spacious The Reception staff where always dour, never cheerfull and no houmour
large rooms big soft bed easy to find 5minutes on tram 1 from railway station
Breakfast buffet was excellent, location ideal for city visit with kids. Very courteous staff. Hotel restaurant was also very accommodating to our little ones at dinnertime. Our bed was comprised of two singles put together. Oddly, the beds had wheels and there was no way to attach them together or stop the wheels from rolling. Consequently, with a small child between us, it was difficult to keep him from slipping between the two without keeping on one mattress or the other, largely defeating the purpose of the "larger" bed!
hotel is excellent located to visit Gent. -shower needs badly a thermostatic regulated valve. -touristic info on Gent available at the hotel is poor
mooi hotel, goede locatie midden in het centrum!! Mooie schone kamers en vriendelijk personeel.
Location excellent, beds good, smart lobby. This place was dissapointing, huge spacious wide corridors led to average sized rooms, why? Rooms were designed in rather cold unwelcoming style, showers poor, really bad and really expensive cocktails, overpriced breakfast. My advice? Go stay at the Marriot, its cheaper and much nicer overall!
Staff were attentive, friendly and professional.
Comfort of room very good
as good as always has beengood location, good rooms, good staff
Nice and clean rooms. excellent location in the historical centre of Gent. The price for the room is extra ordinary and an extra pay of 23,-€ per person per night for an ordinary breakfast buffet is to high. There was nothing what excuses the price in comparision to other hotels.
The central location for wonderful walks exploring this extremely pretty city.
very pleassant open entrance of the parking
Just about everything -- the Poppi bar, the room, the hotel's architecture, the location, the staff, the food. And what a Mojito! The only thing that we disliked is the elevator that takes you to the Parking Garage. You need to press 2 buttons to get to the correct level, and I often had to try this 3 times to get it right. A 2 star elevator in a 5 star hotel. But, otherwise, the hotel was fantastic.
Our reservation was confirmed and when we arrived at 10 p.m. the hotel manager informed us that the hotel is full and refused to accomodate us referring to a problem with computer program. Hard to believe it could be at Marriot Hotel!!! We had to spend the night looking for another hotel.
Location of the hotel. Limited capacity of breakfast facilities on a busy weekend.
Hotel stuff is very good. Location & design of hotel are outstanding.
Great hotel and the staff are very helpfull and a lovely comfortable hotel
Good position close to the centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable spacious room and excellent breakfast.
The situation of the rooms with view on the water. To expensive for the quality of the room.
The location is excelent. The room we stayd in was in touch with the room of the cleaness (it even had a door conecting booth rooms). So, early in the moorning we couldn´t sleep with the noise of the hotel staff!! Not pleasant, this room should not be rented to anyone!!
Excellent location, very modern. Sound proofing between rooms not good. Room 2.20 is to be avoided as the breadfast room outside portion is right above it, and from 7.30 am people scrape chairs around and one can hear people talking as if they are in the room...! Probably any other room is excellent!
Fantastic Breakfast in a pleasant room. room was a bit cramped
Comfortable hotel close proximity to the centre, modern facilities ideal for the business trip. Staff very helpful when problems were reported. Lack of attention to detail, the wifi system gave problems as did the door entry system. The lift failed but no messages on each floor to advise guests.
I liked the location, the modern style and the breakfast room on the roof. Staying for only one night I felt the room was a bit dark and dismal looking onto some parked cars and not one of the better rooms.Because the weather was very miserable I would have liked the ability/ choice to have had more lights on if I wanted them would have been useful. I would have liked to have been able to check in before 4pm.
It's a new and supernice hotel located very centrally. The staff is extremely helpfull.
Nice location, comfortable, clean room and facilities. Good and generous breakfast although we missed it a couple days due to poor communication at the front desk. We arrived in Ghent very late 11 PM. Reception desk was confused and sent us to the wrong room. It was occupied by naked people who were busy on the bed when we walked in. Amusing for us but very embarrassing for the hotel clerk. He compensated with free beer and apologies. In the excitement he forgot to tell us the breakfast area was located on the 3rd floor. We missed breakfast the first 2 mornings. Another minor irritation was the same dirty coffee cup was left in the room for 3 days, while the bed and everything else was cleaned up. Despite the small gaffes the staff were mostly friendly and helpful and the hotel was nice. We would stay here again.
i love the location the most. the hotel is really nice located by the canel which is nice. everything is great, but the toilet i can smell pee pee which ruin everthing.
Cool rustic room in a hotel with more modern rooms too. Good sized bathroom. Nearby all the things I wanted to see but not on a main road so it was quiet. My room as pretty cool but a bit dark.
Handy to town centre and good quality hotel
The hotel offers a free taxi service within a range of 15 km. We used this service to and from a music festival in Waregem which is around 15km from Kortrijk. Even calling the taxi at 1-2 at night they still take us back to the hotel free of charge. Excellent outstanding service. The rooms are good with airconditioning and the breakfast is very good. Conclusion: hotel was a very good experience.
The hotel is across Kortrijk's train station (therefore very convenient if traveling by train). It is also quite modern and its buffet breakfast is very good (varied and good quality). I didn't like that they did a "credit card authorization check" just after booking the room. I can not see the difference between a charge and a verification and I normally don't like these things (as I don't expect them when using booking.com).
Almost everything Their Internet connection was poor
the hotel is located on a road junction, thus there is a lot of noise (Friday & Saturday evening lots of noise from local youths/night clubs)
Very clean and smart. Very helpful staff
The special all-in menu's are very good
Nothing in particular, everything was good, just the way it should be. I enjoyed the dinner at the restaurant.
The staff were very friendly and very helpfull. The food was excellent and central location was a greta benefit. The free shuttle service that the hotel offered withing a 15km radius was excellent and a great idea. This made our stay and our business arrangements so much easier as were attending an event in the expo. The closness to the station and the main street the hotel was a little noisy, but if you closed the windows and used the air conditioning that was available in your room is did not become a problem.
Central location A bit to modern but that is personal taste
Short walk to the local pubs The bar and restaurant was closed which was not very helpful. No tea making facility as one would expect from at least a 4* hotel. Staff during breakfast was very rude except the chef. Chose this hotel on the understanding that it might be part of the Park hotels but it turned out independent rather than chain of park hotels.
I must admit I liked the fact that it is one of those rare hotels left in that it contains smoking rooms. I have not come across one in a long time and it was a real pleasure to be able to relax, smoke and not be dictated to. Thank you Holiday Inn, Ghent.
Excellent quality of bed and bedding. Nice touch of pillow spray appreciated. I have used this hotel over the years and like to see familiar staff at check-in and restaurant management.
Great really good staff
Bathroom tiles were quite dirty; they cleaned them after we complained. The carpet needed cleaning,
I don't like the rooms with a window to : the restaurant :(
No smoking hotel - Dog Friendly Restaurant standard was poor with cheap ingrediants poorly prepared and overpriced - evening buffet appeared to consist of left over finger buffet offerrings from the day's conferences/business meetings. Difficut to approach by car other than using Jcn 14 of E40 - Ghent itself was dirty, smelly and appears to be a centre for stag/hen all day drinking.
A nice and relaxed atmosfere
The stuff are very nice. The Buffet breakfast is excellent. The Dinner restaurant has a quite limited selection of food.
I liked it's location, it's right next door to the Flanders Expo where I was going for I Love Techno so was very convienient and it's also very close to the tram. I also really liked the hotel staff they were very helpful and friendly. The connected internet or the wireless didn't work in the room.
The staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent and the hotel room was comfortable. Good location.
Room lay out, easy to get to, friendly people, near town centre with lots of nice places to eat/drink! No internet (yet)
Staff was very helpful and efficient. Good beds, comfortable room with modern decor. Not everyone has a GPS. Mentioning the road works and the way to get to the hotel in the e-mail confirmation sent by the hotel would have been helpful. Fortunately I was warned by previous guests' comments.
No remote control for TV in room, therefore couldn't watch tv late at night. Restaurant not open on Monday evenings. I arrived late and then had to go out to find a restaurant on a wet night Finally, there is building work adjacent to the hotel and loud noise from just after 7am in the morning!
Perfect hotel if you visit Gent and Brugge by car. Rooms are very good, breakfast not the best ever but doable. There is free parking, good free wifi and easily accesable from the E40. Check in was extremely convient. Spa is not free according to the information book.
Nice staff, comfortable rooms, value for money
thye room was modern and comfortable with a very good shower
Breakfast was very nice to start the day with. Nice to be in the town and watch the world go by when eating Breakfast. Shower head in the wet room was too high and could not be adjusted.
Poor finishing details to the room. Air conditioning did not work Staff on holiday, so there were no restaurant facilities
Location easy to find, vast parking, very clean room, free WiFi, good restaurant. WiFi not fully operational, a rain coat forgotten in the room has not been found later, which left a very bad feeling about my stay.
A smile on every one's face when you see them,,a feeling to be at home!
the breakfast is of a very nice quality, the free parking is very useful and some services like lend umbrella are very much appreciated details. I would have liked to have a mini-bar inside the room, like we find in most of the hotels.
Staff were courteous and efficient, room was comfortable although a little small for a hotel in this class, breakfast buffet was excellent. More information on hotel facilities could be provided in the room (e.g. no information provided in room or by staff on breakfast times). Some information on what to do in the local area would be useful in the public areas.
Great central location, quiet rooms & good standards of decor. Great breakfast. They did not have our booking & we had to stay in another hotel for the 1st night which was inconvenient. We had booked 2 rooms & as way of compensation one of the rooms was upgraded to a suite for the remaining 2 nights & we received a complimentary bottle of wine so the hotel did try to make amends.
Location, Car Park security (oposite the police station). The WiFi link was weak.
The restaurant was not open for evening meals. We ate at one of the local restaurants, which was very good.
central no frig smaal room
It was in an excelent location. The air conditioning was very good in the room.
Location, comfort Wi-Fi internet connection was out of order
Very nice hotel. Great big room with canal view. The staff was was very friendly.
Very comfortable and modern room
If you want to visit the center of Gent the location of this hotel is perfect. The children can even have a swim on one of the rooftops when it's nice weather. The way to our room wasn't very nice; through the lobby and a hallway, then outside at the back, down an outside stairs, across the entrance of the parking garage, up in an elevator.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, small quiet hotel. Perfect location, beautiful clean and luxurious rooms.
The room was large with very modern styling. It had plenty of storage space and the enormous bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was beautifully presented with a wide range of choice from the buffet. All staff were very friendly. No complaints whatsoever.
Toprooms have superb view
Spacious room with luxury bathroom. Hotel situated on canal side in historic centre, but quiet. Generous choice at breakfast. Staff aimed to helpful, but did not know about current diversion of nearest tram service due to road works.
Having stayed here before what I can stay is I feel very, very comfortble when I stay here. The rooms are excellent and the staff are all extremely friendly. The hotel is close to the centre and very good restaurants are to be found within a five minute radius. All in all a fine place to stay.
great hotel - good food and lots of character. also good wireless connection air conditioning did not work - room was very stuffy
The quiet, peaceful atmosphere and the air of friendliness. Two matters that required attention, reported on Saturday on arrival had not been rectified when we left on Wednesday - The plug in the washbasin was so ineffective I had to continuouisly run the water whilst shaving and washing and the safe battery needeed replacement (or so it seemed) so that we could not use this facility.
The location is very nice. And rooms are not small. The cleaning was not the best possible.
Our room was first class
big bed, loo separate from bathroom, big bathroom, noisy ventilation when bedroom window open
Loved everything about tis hotel. Comfortable, clean and relaxing. Great view of the bridge from the room too. Nice breakfast and we would definitely return if we were in the area again.
nice room, good localization, free (working) internet -
Non smoking. Quiet room. Very comfortable bed. Helpful and polite staff. Interior looking slightly dated - needs some maintenance. For example: the wooden floor in our room had splits. Slight water leakage along the floor from bathroom into bedroom.
Very pleasant welcome at check-in. Well situated, attractive hotel.
Have used this Hotel several times on my trips to Europe and have always found it excellent value for money and with a professional and pleasant staff Did not appreciate the lounge/bar which is still smoking. It is amazing how you get used to a no smoking enviroment
Very nice surrounding, quiet, charming hotel. Better place to stay compare to city hotels and it is not far.
Very good standard of food in the brasserie. This was busy with locals using it for dinner. Hotel not busy, given an upgrade in room. Quiet location yet easy access from motorway. Friendly staff and English spoken.
The hotel is in a lovely setting and has a very nice ambiance. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything that your neighbours do in their room or on the hallway.
Old country style building nicely located along the river. Gourmet restaurant is the main force of this hotel. For those traveling without car will have difficulty to get to this hotel by public transport. Taxi from Gent could be quite expensive.
Asa always - very pleasant staff and lovely hotel. In the weekends - they need more staff to help at the busy breakfast time, but he did his best.
Good atmosphere, cultivated lokation and enviroment, breakfast exellent
The river location was excellent We were aksed to check out at 10 am (1 hour earlier than normal) as a "football team were checking in that day". Should that have made our stay shorter ??
The location is superb. Rooms are nbot too big - at least ours - but furnished with taste. The noise was a serious problem. Doors and walls are not well insulated and a lot of noise coming from people returning or leaving their rooms. We could almost understand the conversation of the neighbours from our room. Whilst the location and set-up is very pleasant and recommendable, I would hesitate to send anyone because of the noise in the rooms.
the restaurant was an unexpected suprise the food there was excellent
The service and the quality very well and good. The management and staff very helpfull. The restaurant good but cannot be called Gastronomique.Too expensif in my opinion. I was quite upset to find out it is more economical to book direct with the hotel than with booking .com I could have saved at least the beakfast charge and more.......what booking .com do in these circumstances do ?????
Very good friendly small hotel in the centre of town, but with large hotel standard facilities. No
Certainly the cleanliness, the character of the hotel as well.
Central position, parking, cleanliness, staff, quatity of dinner, the staffs communication skills, character of the building, decoration. in general a pleasent experience. Spinach was a bit gritty.
Atmosphere and room, oh and the shower. Also free wifi a good service.
the location of the hotel is very convenient as we were planing to visit La Grande Place. the hotel rooms didn't have internet and the rooms are getting old
nice smaller scale design hotel
Very comfortable and good location Breakfast was a bit disappointing.
Great location and beautiful mix of old and new in the hotel. I will always stay there when I return to Kortrijk if there are rooms available.
modern interior in old maison de maitre
Good location and comfortable. Difficult to find due to road closures, parking under the hotel not easy.
The location is great. The hotel is right in the center of the city and almost everything you will want to see is within walking distance. The hotel is clean and well kept. It's an international chain and lacks charm.
Good hotel in excellent location. Ghent is gorgeous and will be even better when it's finished. Easy stroll to all the main tourist sights and brilliant bars.
Central location. Bog-standard, somewhat dirty hotel with unhelpful staff. Impossible to get to by car!!! Don't even try... I parked 100m from the hotel but it took me 1/2 hour to get to the parking, by which time the receptionist had let the car park fill up- despite knowing I was on my way.
the location was perfect the atmosphere in the hotel was not so cosy
Really helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Will definatly be staying at this hotel again. Quite difficult to find hotel parking due to one way systems and pedestrian streets but hotel staff were brilliant with directions.
the bed was really big and room too.
The location was excellent, it was in the old part of the town & was in a beautiful location with the Christmas market just at the side of it. the tourist infomation is 100m (away) and the main tram stop is 200m (approx) away. the breakfast was first class with a selection of a continental or more fimiliar english style breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages) this hotel is in a perfect location for seeing all the attractions of the city.it was clean and comfortable. they also offer free use of a sauna and steamroom.
The hotel is convenient for the centre and is in easy walking distance of the main sites of Ghent Check in time is advertised as being 14.00 however, we arrived at 15.45 and our room was not ready,
Central location The bathroom floor and shower base needed a real scrub with bleach, they were dirty and moldy. The breakfast cost 18 euros each which we didnt want to spend so went to the nearby Pain Quotidien for a delicious fresh and much cheaper breakfast. Parking was also impossible as the streets are blocked with roadworks and pedestrian zones, so our GPS took a long time to help us locate the hotel. I think the hotel owners/website should include a map of how to best navigate the city. Too expensive for an ordinary and basic room.
