Pros: The outdoor spa was the best. The sound of water in the valley was delicious and nice. After checking out, the bus of Ryokan was convenient and good instead of the bus that was blocked by snow.
Pros: Everything about the ryokkan was perfect and beyond my expectations. The staff here are extra helpful and kind and they have multilingual employee, and they take care of everything for you including putting your shoes away and making your bed in time for bed. The outside and inside hotsprings are also very very nice. Also, the bus stops right in front of the ryokkan so even transportation is not bad.
Cons: I really could not ask for anything better since they exceeded my expectations. It's an amazing place.
Pros: The tatami room was big, There's free shuttle to and from the train station. There's a side trip to see the fireflies at night. It's a quiet time as the area only has onsen. Should have booked room with all meals next time because the Japanese breakfast was beautiful.
Pros: I can't recommend staying here more. It is a beautiful Ryokan along a river with inside and outside onsens and a private family onsen that you can book for 40 minutes. The onsens are also open in the morning, so you can go for a quick dip before you check out. The staff and lovely and accomodating. We were picked up from the local train station and driven to the Ryokan. Upon arrival we were met by a fluent english speaking women, however language was never an issue. They have a great translation device and frankly if you can't use Google translate and body language to figure out what is going on then you're not trying hard enough. The dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious. The room was beautiful overlooking the river and we were provided with traditional Yukatas to wear around. The traditional tatami mats were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Highly recommend staying here.
Pros: The onsen was fantastic and outdoor onsen, staff was great and helpful
Cons: Tattoo regulation
Pros: I like the private outdoor bath and the big terrace. The bed is also comfortable.
Cons: There is no darkening curtain so the sun shone in and woke us up in the morning. The duvet is too thick for this time of the year.
Pros: The outdoor public hot spring is very good
Cons: No private baht room and the in-house sharing baht room is under expectation. The outdoor hot spring baht is very nice but it is outside the hotel. The open time is very late and evening time is a bit too dark to walk.
Pros: The room and attached onsen were lovely. My boyfriend loved this first ryoukan experience. I've been to other ryoukans as well and this certainly met expectations. The food, ambience, tranquility, onsen, and room were exceptional. Also special thanks to our driver and Mariko-san for making our stay pleasant.
Cons: I thought omotenashi could have been a little better, but I guess they might have had many guests to attend to at that time.
Pros: Very clean and comfortable, loved the family onsen! Excellent service!
Pros: Everything about the property was great! From the food to the rooms to the staff. We were put in 2 rooms with en-suite bathrooms; and both the rooms were right beside each other which made things very easy for us. There were free parking spaces directly across from the ryokan (literally 10 steps away) which made checking in and out an easy process. There is also a bus stop right outside the ryokan so using the public transport to get here isn’t an issue either. Seeing that we were unable to communicate effectively in Japanese, we were mostly attended by a Taiwanese staff, Yu-San, who was fluent in English, Mandarin and Japanese. PLUS she had an excellent sense of humour which made us feel at home. So you don’t have to worry if having a language barrier is a concern. She helped us with the reservation of the private onsen and the meals. She also tried her best to explain to us the seasonal ingredients used in the Kaiseki. I’d highly recommend this ryokan!
Cons: The outdoor public onsens did not allow patrons with tattoos which was a downer for most of us.
